i dunno about that..
but i'm using EnergyRom with ChopSuey kernel..
so not every kernel can supports ext4?
which kernels should I use for my supersonic to supports ext4?

I know the Mason kernel supports ext. 4. Read the OP for the ROM you're using and make sure ext. 4 is supported.

If its a sense rom only underworld kernel and classic kernel support ext 4 and if its aosp rom mostly every kernel supports it.

Scratch what I said above. I forgot Energy is a Sense ROM, so you'll need a Sense ROM that supports ext. 4, assuming it's supported by the ROM.

1. Maybe your card doesn't support ext3 or
2. Format the whole card after you back up everything on it. Then do the partion and then move everything back to the SD card
3. Update ext1 to ext2
4. Wipe using superwipe or whatever method you use, flash the rom, same session flash your kernal underworld number 8 for your sense rom, then same session flash your apps2sd script I use cronmod INT2EXT4+ it moves your partion to your internal memory and I have 900mb on my internal memory 300 apps installed and 400mb of internal memory left and because its internal my phone is fast as hell with no lag.. then reboot and take a look around to see if the script stuck.. if so then get rid of armon installer use smelkous recovery you can go back into it and update your partion without having to format your SD card again.. so then you would update to ext3 but you may have to uninstall your app2sd script and then reflash it once you get your ext4 up and running.. I will link cronmod so you can read the op he also has a app2sd script as well

Just look for smelkous 4.2 I believe it is, I think its pretty str8 forward as far as ext upgrades if its capable of being upgraded to ext3 or ext4, but not all SD cards can be updraded to ext 3 or 4

Can't mount block /dev/block/mmcblk0

Basically, every time I go to clockwork recovery and try to wipe data and cache, I get this error.
cant mount block /dev/block/mmcblk0
I have reformatted many times my sd, even with rom manager but with no luck.
Still get the same error.
From what I understand, if I flash a rom that supports aps2sd+ then I cant install any apps from market because it cannot mount my sd card.
You probably have an ext2 partition which clockwork can't handle. I had to convert mine to ext3 to be able to format it in recovery. Apps were still being saved there, though.

the best would be ext4, as it is the most recent and allows faster data transfers but the downside of it is that some roms may not support it meanwhile ext2 is more of the universal type; widely used format.
ps: you can play safe by choosing ext3 instead
i just read other forums thats ext 4 is much better...but i dont remeber the forum link....
EXT2 is old
EXT4 may not work on some ROMs but blazing speed
EXT3 safe and fast.
PS. Don't risk repartitioning your SD with EXT4 just because it is the fastest. Choose to EXT3.

ext3 will be sufficient for now.
ext4 requires kernel support... still then if you want that try merruk's kernel, it supports ext4

backup ur data
Use cwm » advanced» partition sdcard....
Make one ext3 partition less than 512mb & the rest fat32
Ext3 will be used as the extended internal memory for linking apps
fat32 will be mounted as your sdcard
Now reboot
Open link2sd, it will ask you for mount script » select ext3
Select settings » auto link...
now all set
Written this in brief..
For kernel flash use mai77 method
No bin count as it'll flash using cwm

It is an indication that you flashed a firmware which is non-stock .. in some samsung service centres warranty will not be considered if you have bin count..In only few countries though as no one cares to check them and they either dont have the knowledge to check them..all they know is "KIES" xD
I have a bin counter of 62 ..nothing happens..Just flash them freely

Hmm...which ROM are you using?
You must use a custom ROM having a2sd darktremor enabled to enable a2sd..
Im not sure about L2SD..But I can guide you...Did you get a "Mount 2nd Partition" message when you first run L2SD? Otherwise Click Left touch button-> Click More -> Click the "Recreate mount Scripts" On Link2SD and restart your device..
Go to any installed user application and on bottom it shows " Create Link" ..Press that and if it continues to show linking options then you have L2SD perfectly working..

For this to work you need to have a secondary partition of ext3/ext2 ..ext3 is preferred..Use CWM to repartition the SD card..
Creed and repencis supports both a2SD and L2SD ..chobits supports L2SD..
You can try this guide by CarlDeanCatabay which describes the L2SD process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614700
I prefer L2SD over A2SD as L2SD has more advanced options..

[Q] How to format new SD card?

Hello,
I've bought new SD card 32GB class 10 and I'm just curious how to format it with the possibility to choose partition type. Thanks and sorry if this topic was already discussed somewhere else.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Don't use a regular windows partition program like Easus Partition Master. I had to find it out the hard way
I got a hold of a micro sd to sd adapter and repartitioned it using SD Formatter 3.1.
But I understand using Gparted is the way to if you want to create an ext4 partition for use with the ROMs.
Have to say it took Gparted 15 (!) minutes to find my sd card; Not sure why...
Isn't it easier just using recovery to partition the card?

Yep I agree. 4Ext recovery is the best to format the card. It takes care of the sequence of partitions and also the alignment.

Depends on what Rom you want to use.
Usually 1gb ext4 partition goes well with most of them. It's advised not to have your ext4 partition more than 1.5gb.
One ext4 partition and rest fat32.

I agree with this person except for a point. If you use an a2sd script, it is possible that you can fit a lot of roms as well as the dalvik cache and the data partition with 512mb ext4.
This way (if you are a bit careful with your choice of Roms, and don't use one of those huge sense ones) you can save half a Gb of Sd card, which to many people is precious.
Also, I give my recommendation to 4ext recovery as well. I am currently using the touch version of it for the past 6 months or so, and it is by far the best choice out there.

512mb ext partition is fine, thats not the reason why the rom wont flash.
@OP i would copy what ever u need from ur sdcard to ur computer then repartition ur sdcard, theres a guide by abaaaabbbb63 in my sig. once thats done, in recovery, goto wipe/format - format all partitions except sdcard then reboot recovery then try flashing the rom again.
What rom is it u want to flash??
