go to settings, information about phone and find which android version u have. also turn off phone, then press volume down and power buttons and read your hboot version. then we will think which method has to be used to root your wildfire (;

Your device type is actually set in your build.prop in the /system directory. You could go in and edit it back to what you had before if you want.

hehehehe okay thanks..... just wanted to confirm.... last time i had htc desire.... i bought it as factory unlocked version... which later on turned out to be a vodafone cell without any carrier branding on the body..... so just wanted to make sure i havent been conned on factory unlocked desire Z
can you debrand you htc wildfire s if you have s-on or not ? not sure though i would ask ?
I have 2.3.3, 1.38.901.2 version from Tim Italy. No chance until now for debranding... I try it all kind of debrandig from over all internet, nothng, with, without gold card, with zip firmaware , or exe firmware ... stock 1.34.xxx.x. Nothing, only at the end ...is telling me main version is older , tryt and This one , nothing is stuck ...so until S-OFF i thing nothing can change taht .... DAMN!

do you have link?
i have S-on and boot version 1.02
problem msy couse new bootloader?
firstly, what are you trying to achieve?
the HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.9.5 is to sim unlock the phone, so you can use it on any mobile network. follow the instructions and search in that thread, or ask there if you still can't work it out.
unrevoked tries to root the phone, which is entirely different and has nothing to do with sim unlock (although you could have just tried google to search for it yourself ...)

I have an HTC 816 Desire (710C Virgin Mobile US) running Lollipop 5.0.2. I'm wondering if there is even a root method that will work for this? I've tried Towelroot, Kingroot, and Kingoroot. Nothing works sadly even tho each of them said they support 710C and 816 Desire. I assume there's different versions that make it incompatible.
Any ideas?

You're sure that'd work? I took a look at that method and it seems a bit sketchy. The programs it wants me to download are a year or so old and I saw other people who tried that method with the same phone only to find out they had bricked their phone.

All you have to do is unlock your bootloader, download the twrp.img file, and then type in terminal"fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" or whatever your twrp.img is named. Then download the supersu.zip (Google should do the trick), transfer it to sd card or usb-otg, boot into recovery and select the supersu file. Wait till it installs and reboot and your rooted. I have the Virgin Mobile model too and I've rooted mine this way several times flawlessly.

Hello
My friend give me HTC M9 with Android Revolution 14. I downloaded latest version of Android Revolution and flashed it via TWRP. Sadly phone restart edytowane to recovery all the time (i made wipe) so i decided to flash a latest ruu file. After that phone booted ok, but now it is demo unit.
I checked CID and it is HTC__02 (so demo unit). In bootloader is that system is modified, Unlock and S-On. I wanted to unlock it but when i enabled developer settings almost all options are grey and i am unable to check OEM unlock (option is present). Phone is European version, not Verizon.
Can you advise me how to enable OEM unlock? I tried to use code *#*#336666#*#* but it says that i need password to disable demo.
