Use the stock Android 2.3 sense ROM.

720p recording can be found on stock Rom, on some Sense based Roms (and I'm not sure, also on some MiUI)

why they not working at kitkat?
i hate 2.3 roms because them have old market, not google play...

camera has always been an issue on android 4.x.x roms, really needs kernel 3.x, thanks to @LaidbackNikez it mite not be too far away before he gets it running stable. As for the "old market" on gb roms then if the rom has the market updater in system/app then it should update itself once uv logged in and if not u can always just install the latest version ur self.

[Q] Froyo Question

I just Flashed Cyanogen's 6 Custom ROM from being on 2.1 Stock Eclair. I thought that Froyo Added support for Flash on the Web Browser. But I can't use Flash at all or even see Adobe Flash in the Market at all. Does this ROM not Support Flash? Or do I have to do something to Enable it.

Froyo supports flash but our phone's processor does not so thats why you dont find it in the market, what we have on roms with sense is flash lite plugin not full flash and thats pretty much all we can have on the slide... full flash support is just for higher end phones with armv7 processors, we have armv6.. to sum up, if you want/need some kind of flash support go for a sense rom (CR_MOD or 3rd sense with javascript disabled) or buy another phone xD
oh damn.. And hear I thought you could..
Thanks a lot for the Information.
And just assuming from what you told me, does that mean that HTC will never Push a 2.2 for the myTouch 3G Slide? (3rd Sense supports Flash?)

we are hoping that htc and t-mo give us the update but we now think is not gonna happen... its sad... and yes 3rd sense is a froyo sense rom ported from the update that the htc legend got a couple of weeks ago and yes it has the flash lite plugin that comes with sense

[Q] benefits of updating to android 2.3 on HTC desire

Hello every one
I have a HTC Desire, I have goggled about the new update to android 2.3 and I found a lot of people getting very angry about the delaying of this update
I am just wondering ....about the benefits of this update and the differences that it will bring to the phone?
And also for the rooted phone can I update using the normal way?
(i.e setting>about phone>System software update) I heard that this way will make me lose my root or may break my phone.
Or is it better to wait for the custom room? does it deference from the original update? and which is better?
Sorry for the many Question as I am new in this stuff

You can't update rooted phone OTA (System software update),
but I think custom ROMs will be still ahead (e.g. with Sense 2.1/3.0 stuff), even if HTC releases 2.3
some bugfixes for a start.
they say that GB is faster than FroYo too.
but they finally fixed the mail app for a start so it will set up with hotmail EAS which is nice.
And they fix bug in google calendar, contacts and picasa they found out on froyo and other versions of android except GB, that some informations are send through wi-fi un-encripted and that brings user in danger.

open wifi only or something wasnt it?
http://www.dcellphoneshop.com/android/google-confirms-android-2-2-and-earlier-fault.html
But the main downside is crappy battery. Well thats for my phone
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Battery life is much improved with 2.3 for me anyway.
When the phone is idle it doesn't use as much power as Froyo did.
To be honest, if you're happy enough to root I would just go ahead and try a 2.3 rom. LeeDroid is super stable.
Not only that but midmost of the popular roms will get updates regularly and have great support.

But if I install the new custom ROMs 2.3. Does this mean that I am running Android 2.3 ?
i.e if some application required android vesrion 2.3, can I run this application on this custom ROMs or not ?

One can update a rooted phone with an ota (over the air) update, but one will loose root excess.
I hope I'd get mobile data working again. It freezes all the time when dropping from H to 3G. upload arrow just freezes on and radio doesn't respond for a while.
This appeared after previous smaller update during winter.

Sprint Protection App on MIUI Rooted EVO Your Device not Supported

I've been running MIUI forever!!!
I flashed to the most recent build and all of a sudden I can no longer use the Sprint Total Protection App, it tells me my phone is not supported.
I thought this might be an issue with the kernal (i use tiamat 4.06- or did when it was working) and flashed to 3.3.7 tiamat... so i flashed back to 4.06 but still not working.
Any ideas?
Since its a sprint app, 9.5/10 won't work on AOSP rom, you need sense. if you want a similar app, you can try lookout mobile security.

I appreciate the reply!
The only thing is... I have been using it on MIUI for quiet some time.
Only after I updated to the latest 2.3.5 release of miui (from 2.3.4) did I start getting this error.
Any other miui users out there or other users on aosp 2.3.5 roms with the issue?

If so then, it may not be supported on 2.3.5 yet.

[Q] HTC Desire - video recording is choppiness on every android above 2.3

Hi
I have HTC desire and ROM MildWild 9.5 (Android 2.3.7)
Every time when I try install above version then 2.3, video recording looks like .gif
I did some testing on different android version and the results are as follows:
- Oryginal Android 2.1 Eclair - video was recorded an average of 30 fps/s. (I even saw 50 when weather was good)
- Oryginal update to 2.2 Froyo - video was recorded with max 29 fps/s.
Then I root my phone and change HBoot to CM7R2.
- I Instal rom MildWild 9.5 based on Gingerbread 2.3.7 - video is record with max 24fps/s but is ok. No cut, no problem.
Later I try to search higher version than 2.3, so I started to install any ROM based on Android ICS.
- All Android ICS ROM have the same problem - video is record with max 12 fps/s or less and cuts.
Then I start to search any ROM based on JB, but there was worse.
- All Android JB ROM record video with max 2 or 4 fps/s. Sometimes record is not possible because camera is crush.
4fps/s it's not video! It's looks like a .gif file.
You see the problem?
Everytime when I install higher version of Android, video recording speed decreases.
Every developer writes:
"KNOW BUGS:
video recording is choppiness"
But how to fix this problem?
I know he knows, but where is the solution?
It's API problem, system, device or what?
Does anyone know a solution?
I want to have a newer version of android, but I also want to have working camera record.
Whether I am seeking too much?
Theres no fix for this yet because it is a htc desire and ics is newer sooo it wont work.

So the problem is the lack of compatibility between the old phone HTC Desire and new android version, right?
So I have to choose between:
a) new version of Android + not working camera /or
b) version 2.3 and working camera
Correct? (why I'm sad... :crying: )

It's simply the latest one - i recently flashed back to stock because of an warranty-issue, and i found it hard to find out which of those dozens of circulating ROMs was the newest one.
Sure nothing major has changed compares to the out-of-the-box-rom, but i guess most people that go back to stock / need to go back like to choose the newest one.

I found 4.0 to be much more fluid, performant and appealing than the Stock-ROM, while the versions 4.1 and above seemed to have lost a noticable piece of agility and responsivness compared to 4.0.
I guess that 4.0 performs really great, only drawback for normal users is the camera, which is still a little bit buggy and sometimes does not work, due to the driver model issues :-/.

Does any of you guys use the VPN function? Can anyone confirm that it works on stock rom? I flashed my phone as soon as I got it and never tried the vpn with 2.3.6, but tried with 4.0, 4.1.2, and 4.2.1 and it doesn't work well in this versions.

I'm using this one too before even if it doesn't for my region and nothing really is significant, just some ICS features.
8150XXLM8 or Value Pack stock firmware (update via Samsung Kies) is being rolled-out only in Romania and Slovakia. Made for devices that can’t be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this Value Pack includes some ICS-specific features, like Face Unlock, the ability to change font size (in Contacts, Calendar, or Messaging), and the ability to take photos while shooting video.

The provided ROM is the latest one at least in Germany.
I do not know how the rollout for the value pack was made for other european countries, but e.g. in Germany the value pack was alreasy delivered with a previous update.
