Hello, first time Rooter here and trying to get a custom rom on my s4.
I like to keep most of Touchwiz but I want to just get rid of the bloat and make it faster with better battery.
What are the best roms for that?
Thank you!
Try dbombROM, you'll like it.
Other TWz base are Wicked and Infamous(you'll have to find this ROM elsewhere though)

follow up. I've been using Wicked 10 with some lockups. How stable are dbomb and infamous? Do they read NTFS sdcards? thanks!

I haven't use Infamous since the 4.3 update yet but the older version are nice. dbombROM is nice and smooth imo. Great battery life. Not sure about NTFS but you could ask in the thread.

These kinds of threads usually result in a quick lock. You have to read and test to decide what's best for you. Each rom will tell you in the op which features it offers, as well as if it's debloated or not, and reading user comments will tell you if it's buggy or fast and stable. There's not one single ROM that suit everyone's needs as I'm sure you know. Just flash and have fun

Fresh install wicked 9.1 to T-999.
Everything working great except GPS. I did try the fast gPS fix which comes with the rom but no luck.
Signature.
Post in the wicked thread, you might get a quicker answer. I have Wicked 9.1 but it works very well for me.
The developer is very responsive. So I'm sure your issue will get solved quickly.

Thanks for your reply.... I still trying to find out the solution.
Did you by any chance flash wicked after coming from an AOSP ROM? You can try the separate gps fix and see if it makes any difference.

I used HyperDrive (updated) Rom before I fresh install Wicked 9.1 with devien kernel.
You think I should install stock kernal... which will fix the gps?
I love wicked 9.1 bc it giving me good battery life so far.
I already told you how to fix the GPS in post #2. Why is this still a problem?
Give it a try. Stock kernels will give you less issues than a custom one. Just make sure you flash the correct kernel.

I flashed the Wicked ROM from a stock T999 ROM and the GPS works fine for me. Maybe going back to stock will help then flashing the Wicked ROM.
hey guys finally got my s4 and got it rooted. im looking for a rom/kernal combo with optimal performance and also has amazing battery life. what are you running and how does it perform?
The stock MDL rom evilart made with the ktoonz kernel. Runs smooth and fast with good battery life.

anyone running an aosp rom? what system features does it break? the only reason i ask is because on my note 2 the s pen features were broken because it was built into the touchwiz overlay.

Its the same with the Galaxy S4. The cool features it has are closed source just like the other phones that run touchwiz.

If you are looking for the best and most reliable custom rom which is available now for the Galaxy S4 M919 Tmobile phone look no further.
Get the Wicked v3 custom rom, it's fast, error free and has a lot of nice mods.
This rom is based on the stock MDL Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 rom for the Tmobile M919 phones.
You can check it out and download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265998

I would suggest MOAR and The Peoples Rom. Both are really stable and very customizable. ...not to mention they have some grade AAA devs always ready to help. And both have multi window

Only way to find out how it's going to work for you is to hit the Dev section, Read the OP.. Check last couple pages in that thread.. (It'll give you an idea typically how it's running for others) EVERY phone is different and how we all use them is as well. So Battery life and things are going to be hit and miss depending on user. Just take a couple for a test drive.. if you don't like.. Flash again till you find a home.
All the Touchwiz ROMS are great but I always comeback for MOAR.
Currently I'm looking to flash a rom onto my Gs3 that has Multi-Window enabled, but maybe something that doesnt involve touchwiz(?), I'm just a newbie to XDA and I wasn't sure on what the best Roms for my Gs3 that still have Jelly Bean, but aren't exactly stock rom are. I've been looking at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176793
But one thing i noticed is that in the description it talks about how the dev removed VERIZON bloatware and VERIZON ota updating, which makes me a little skeptical as to flashing it to my AT&T GS3. Any and all suggestions on what a good, stable rom with Multi-window and possibly some of the other GS3 original features would be appreciated!

Multi-window is a touchwiz feature, so u can't have it without a tw ROM. Check out S3Rx. Awesome ROM, insanely customizable, great support!! A lot of the other ROMs u will see use these guys mods in their ROMs.

+1 to S3Rx.
and also to Intergalactic 3.0
both are TouchWiz based, and have multi-window.
A vote for deTmobilized also by enewman17. I tried the sr3x rom but wasn't fond of it.
Can't go wrong with Slimbean, it's not touch wiz though. Plus they just released JB 4.3 today.

Also +1 for S3rX. In theory it should be better than DeTMO, because it's an ATT base with all the funness added on top.

Quantum rom with bionic sheep kernel. It's ridiculously smooth and fast. Like its insane how nice it is. I've flashed a lot of roms over the past few months and this takes the cake. Running 4.3 as well is cool. That or I'd say TASK650 rom was sexy too.

Actually, I have the same question. I just got one AT&T version GS3. I don't like all AT&T bloatware, but I like stock ROM quality(in terms of stability, and smoothness).
Which version has no AT&T bloatware, has multi-window support, and as reliable as Samsung stock ROM ?
Thanks all in advance for all replies.

Root the stock 4.1.2 rom and debloat it manually. I have done this on 4 of my relative's I747 and they haven't had any issues.

For what its worth, Dandroid is my TouchWiz choice. Completely stock with a CM feel to it. I was getting great battery life out of it too! Its debloated and runs very fast! I also have to agree with KuRuPtIoN, that Slimbean is a good choice. Just tried the 4.3 and its rock solid. I have flashed almost every rom on these forums a couple of times, and I always come back to Dandroid for TouchWiz and either Slimbean or Tasks AOKP for non TouchWiz

I agree with this totally. TiBu will help you debloat the useless stuff that AT&T deems to put on the phone and it gives you more control in terms of disabling those pesky services you don't want running. I've been running the update just to see what improvements were made and so far so good once I debloated. I will be reverting back to AOSP soon though because I want the 4.3 goodness more than I want Samsung "goodies".

Just thought it might be a good idea to gather information. There aren't many ROMs yet but a lot of loyalty is being shown to our beloved devs who are producing.
Lets see who is using which ROM the most and why!

First ROM I read up on, so I have decided to try it out. So far so good.
I've success with most of them but the smoothest and best battery life for me have been with Lab Rats & MyRom using either stock kernel, Saber kernel, or Lean Kernel (current fav).
I think I might settle down and rest with MyRom as it is doing REALLY well right now.
I've used just about all of them and there all amazing, including international and cross carrier. My current setup that I have gotten comfortable with is darthstalker wuth compulsion kernel. Both rom and kernel have init.d support(this is a major + for me anyways) so I can use tweaks like int2extsd mod.

I've heard people having good luck with Omega from the n9005 thread... I gave it a try and wifi wouldn't work. Was going to do the build.prop trick but didn't have time....
Sorry, double post...
I am currently running Darthstalker v5 with Saber kernel 5.2. I love this combo and great battery life and excellent speed and stability.
Tweaked alpha. Because all the customization options.
sent from my ??????? note 3?
I am not picky. I have used all 900T versions. I like then all quite well, as they each have their own little flares. I flash between them quite often. Until wonder child kernel though, I couldn't boot Any sort of 0C kernel. I most commonly find myself using Darth stalker and Lab Rats as they play a little better with the WC kernel.

ViSiON X N3 is the ticket. Although, all of the roms work well, and have their own little something, something that makes them unique in their own way.
I'm running JEDI v5, I find myself at home with it. Been running JEDI since my Note 2. That's just a preference, I've tried the others and they are all great, haven't had any issues with any of them.

Yes, N9005 roms will work on your device.
Use your tmo kernel, and also manually setup the tmo apn settings....
