My S3 is on 4.3 FW. However I would prefer to run Darthstalker 4.12 as some apps do not work in 4.3.
Unfortunately my camera does not work with that rom. I suspect thats because the camera has updated FW and the libs/drivers in 4.1.2 cannot connect to the camera.
Before I go through the trouble, I have a flashable camera zip and I am thinking of taking the camera files out of a 4.3 rom sticking them into the zip to flash them. My other idea is to simply replace the files in /system.
Will this work? Or is there a better way.
Any advice would be appreciated.
What is your Current Rom version and how did you apply 4.3 ? Was it via the Stock OTA Update or another way ?

It was a insurance replacement phone, so it came preloaded with 4.3. However I would like to use 4.1.2 Darthstalker x2 because of the theme and some app compatibility. At this very moment I am using S3rx 4.3.
In that case, there's no way to downgrade without hard bricking your phone.

Hey guys,
I'm trying to go back to a stock Touchwiz ROM from CyanogenMod 10.2. My only problem is, I can't Odin back to a stock from because the only Odin compatible file I have is 4.1.1 which my phone will no longer go to since my baseband was updated after trying a former 4.3 ROM.
Can anyone link me to a 4.3 ROM that I can flash in Odin? I'm asking because most of the ROM's I'm finding that are 4.3 require you to be on a TW ROM before flashing their ROM. Thanks.

This link is useless for me as it does not have a 4.3 stock rom listed in their official firmwares. They have only up to 4.1.2 which I cannot Odin back to since my baseband was already updated.

|ROM|Bootloader|Kernel|Modem| AT&T Official 4.3 MJB |24 Nov 2013| There you go all stock. make sure you hit the thanks button for everyone (not my files I just found them)
You cant flash this in odin but can use TWRP or CWM. will get you back all stock. Good luck...

Do I have to be on a stock rom to use this? I'm currently on Quantum V3 and I don't have access to a stock rom to revert to since my baseband was updated.

No you don't have to be on the stock rom to use that, but the bootloaders are for 4.3 so if you haven't updated yet this will update you.
You can flash any rom you want to as long as you do not mess with the bootloader you will be OK. I do not know if this work on anything besides an at&t phone using it on anything else is done so at your own risk just the same as using it.
What about the recovery? any way to get a stock recovery image?
So a couple of days ago I got a GS3 running the OTA stock 4.3. I wasn't sure if I wanted to use it because I find Touch Wiz kind of clunky. So I decided I would try out Cyanogenmod. I installed it via their new handy installer (as the sprint GS3 is one of the compatible devices). All went well and I got Cyanogenmod 10.2 running smoothly. Now I want to activate the device, but apparently you can't activate a rooted device on sprint. So now i need to get it back to stock 4.3 and I can only seem to find solutions to his problem for devices that have not gotten the 4.3 OTA update and are still running 4.1.2. On the Cyanogenmod installer guide says:
You may perform a full backup from recovery, after flashing recovery (you will have to do this manually, at the moment) and then copy it off the device, if you don't have an external sdcard. If you've already run the installer, you will have to find stock images and flash them using fastboot or Odin.

My problem Is I can't locate any stock 4.3 images with which to try this. If I can get my hands on a stock 4.3 image, would the process be just going into the bootloader and using Odin to flash the 4.3 image?
Can anyone help me out?
You only need to be on a stock tw rom, even if you are rooted it should activate. There are a couple in the development section.

I see, do you know of any any good 4.3 based tw roms? All the ones I'm finding are based on 4.1. Also, do I need to do anything special to flash from Cyanogenmod 10.2 to a touchwiz rom (as Cyanogenmod is AOSP)? I already have ClockworkMod recovery installed.
Nothing special, flash like anything else

[STOCK ROM] Stock 4.3 MK3 ROM [ROOTED/UNROOTED]
I hope someone can help with a dilemma I have.
I need to flash back to stock rom and do a factory reset on my AT&T SGIII - this I know how to do . However, what I don't know is if the links I've found for tar files for a stock restore (like the one posted here)are for the ice cream sandwich version that launched with the phone, or the newer jelly bean version.
If it is the older version, once I'm done restoring it back to stock and factory settings, will I get an option to update to jelly bean thru AT&T?
Or do I need to find a stock AT&T jelly bean file to flash? If so, where do I find that?
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you update your phone to AT&T 4.3 stock rom via an OTA update? If you did, do not flash any rom that includes an older bootloader as the flash will brick your phone.

No. Ever since going to the Sonic FreeGS3 Resurrection rom, I have been on the 4.1.1 version. I've never been to a more current version than that since that was the last version update for this rom and I liked it just fine.
Even though I'm not wild about having to return to stock, I am at least excited about (hopefully) being able to go up to the latest version released by AT&T. But I wasn't sure if I need to flash a stock 4.3 version AT&T rom (or even where to find that) or if I could just flash the original released stock rom and then be prompted with OTA updates to go to the newer versions.
Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated.
The latest version of the AT&T ROM is 4.3 which can be done via an OTA update or Kies from a stock 4.1.1 AT&T ROM.
Any reason you need to return to stock? Personally, I would not go near 4.3 as it's not required to install KK ROMS and, once on 4.3, rooting, etc. becomes more complicated.

I have to for work. That's the only reason I'm going back to a stock rom. Plus I want to trade my phone in after a few more months once my contract is up.
Is it possible to come back from a 4.4 rom to say 4.2 or 4.3 stock ROM? Can I ODIN back?
Currently not able to get MMS/Group messaging to work on the current 4.4 rom. Tried updating modem, adjusting settings...still no luck and I need it for work. Appreciate any help

AT&T S3
You can go 4.4 -> 4.3. However, you cant get the unrooted stock rom of 4.3, since Samsung/AT&T didn't ever release to the public (It was all OTA).
If you went 4.2->4.3 OTA, then your bootloader was upgraded. As you've seen on these forums, downgrading from 4.3 to 4.2/4.1 is a big no-no unless you want a brick.
Example:
4.2 ---(OTA UPGRADE)--> 4.3.
Rooted+cyanogen 4.3
cyanogen 4.3-> cyanogen 4.4
cyanogen 4.4-> cyanogen 4.3
cyanogen 4.3
( ^ what I have done)
NOTE: After I got the OTA, I have never tried going back to stock. You can use rooted roms that are CLOSE to stock. But I wouldn't suggest going stock because of knox and blah blah blah.
Were you ever on stock AT&T 4.3? If you were, your bootlaoder was probably updated so you can't install an older bootloader. You can load a older AT&T ROM using mobile Odin which does not flash a bootloader or modem.
I never went to 4.3...straight from 4.2 to 4.4

So I could go back to a 4.2 TW rom if I was never on 4.3 OTA? (or any 4.3 for that matter)

Yes, you just need to find a stock AT&T ROM that is flashable in Odin.
My galaxy siii was rooted before kitkat was out, and I have been using it until now and have not yet update to KitKat yet because AT&T is not part of it any more.
How do I get KitKat on my phone? Do I have to unroot the phone and put it back into AT&T mode to download or what should I do?
this might help.

I might add to this...if you removed any stock carrier or vendor apps from 4.3 while being rooted...you'll have to restore them via a Titamium Backup or some other way or the OTA update will not install properly. (I realized that the OTA update from 4.3 to 4.4.2 will patch these apps to update them to 4.4.2 compatibility)
If you can't do that or if its unreasonable to do that based on the way the phone was modified while rooted...I suggest flashing the stock 4.3 rom via Odin and then take the OTA.
Id recommend flashing the 4.3 firmware via Odin to begin with. Its starting to seem like a lot of people who even just have to unroot are having problems with the ota. I think Odin flashing stock 4.3 will give the best chance of a successful update.

I am having this issue. I rooted on 4.3 and removed Google books and newsstand. I then uprooted and did a factory reset , so everything in download mode says "official" but the apps were still missing so I downloaded them from the play store. My question is will this let me get the OTA now or do I have to push the apps to the /system directory somehow? Also if I flash the 4.3 ODIN tar file, will it trip my warranty bit? It's at 0 right now and want to keep it that way until my warranty is up.
The firmware shouldn't trip the bit, but I can't promise that. Im sure its confirmed one way or the other in its thread though.
As for those apps, they'd have to be system apps, so just installing normally won't help. More importantly though, they would also need to be the same version that was originally built into the firmware. The apps you mentioned have seen many updates and using the current versions will not work.
I got the phone 2 weeks ago and it came with 4.3 installed on it. Would I be able to use the current version and just push them to /system/app with titanium backup? I am trying to get the OTA without tripping any warranty or security measures.
