I found this service sits there being a huge battery hog. When I kill it, it just restarts itself. Is there anyway to get rid of it or is it one of those things required by the OS?
To delete a system file you should root a folder vecause rooting a device means giving permession to the user to access system files and do whatever he like but be careful and for accessing system files you need root browser just type it in the playstore

I'm a little reluctant to delete something like that without knowing the consequences. I don't know if 'device storage' is something required to keep the system happy.

The service is 'device storage'. At least that's how it shows up under all-in-one toolbox.

This service seems to be important but you can do a back up for your phone then delete it as how I told you then see what happens or you just google it

uhm so I need a rooted device to access this, right? there's no other way?
Sorry, my bad.
I didn't mean you need to root the phone. I meant starting from the directory root.
Using OI File Manager, tap on the home icon "A house" then tap system folder then app folder (should be first).
the apk is stored in /data/app/, app data is stored in /data/data/

So i just installed the new BM 5.0 and i was deleting unwanted apps via Titanium Backup pro .. i was doing it so fast that i accidentally deleted task manager! now everytime i click on the widget "Active Application" it fore closes! i tried to look for the stock task manager in the app store but could not find it! is there a way to undo the delete without doing a nandroid restore?
Use the feature in Titanium that can pull apks from cwm backups. You should be able to fix it with that.

1) Open TB

5) Extract from Nandroid backup
6) Pick Task Manager
I personally tried it once and it didn't work for me, worst comes to worst I'll upload you the JobManager.apk (I assume that's the one you're talking about? The Samsung task manager?). But I assume it works, otherwise they wouldn't include the feature.

To install it, you'll need a file explorer with root access (ES File Explorer, ROOT File Explorer, etc.). Then you'll have to move it to /system/app (to get to /system you'll have to go one level up from /sdcard to get to the root folder /). Make the permissions read "rw- r-- r--" (how you do that depends on what file explorer you use) and then reboot. Should fix the issue.

It'll be an option in root explorer along the lines of "root access". I don't know the exact process because I use ES. Play around in the settings of root explorer until you find it. By default it's disabled to prevent users from actually screwing with their system operating system without knowing what they're doing.
did not find anything under settings but there was a button that said Mount R/O or Mount R/W ... so i selected the file to move then i went to system/app thrn i clicked the mount button on the top and it worked! Thank u so much for ur help and fast responds! u really saved mr from alot of grief.

Yeah it's the same thing, you're just allowing the system position to be written to. No problem. Is your task manager working as usual now?

Was it working fine when you first installed it? Either way, there's always 5 generic steps you should always take first when trying to resolve an issue:
1) clear application data
2) reboot to recovery and clear cache
3) clear dalvik cache
4) fix permissions
5) reboot
See if that fixes your issues

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed what I have come across. I use esf file explorer. In the past with custom ROMs you could easily direct into system/apps and delete or add which app you choose. But now it does not seem possible. You try to delete and at first it will confirm but the app will remain. On second attempt you will be prompt that this command has failed. Installing a new system app after giving permissions will give the same result.
I'm wondering if the developers have add some security so to stop us users altering there ROMs to suite yourself.
To me this is not open source any more and being given root access will need renamed to root browser. This isn't cool and is an obvious step in the direction of closed source.
I am currently trying renovate final 1.1. And Cyanogenmod on my nexus 7. Hopefully its jusr esf file explorers capabilities have renounced. But i suspect not. Are others having the same problem with custom ROMs.
Did you enable root acces in the settings of es file Explorer and also enabled the system partition as read and write ?

To gain access to system/apps you must enable root. Not sure what you mean by sytem partition as read and write. If its mount file system as read and write. Yes.
When you open es file Explorer and go to settings you enabled the root acces feature. But you you also need to enable the system partition to read and write
The picture is in Dutch .....But you need to enable the top 3 functions

Ok..I even did this.... put Root Explorer on my Mega
then copied the Mega's voice recorder APK to a folder on my EXSD..
The emailed the 5.? meg file to mmyself..
Then on my Tab3 T-315.... I got my email and saved the attachment.
Then tapped on the VR apk and choose to install..
It attempted to install it, then said ?Application not installed"
I guess I need a tabs Voice recorders apk to get it to work on this 315..
wwaaaaa
Im going to Best Buy tomorrow and se if their 8" tab 3 wifi only has a Voice/sound recorder app... If so.. then I'll go and look for one. maybe the one from that custom Rocket rom is just that.. for that custom Rocket rom only
I guess you need to root your device because it worked on my device

Whenever I try to move a file to internal storage when I connect my phone to laptop, it won't let me transfer. Same thing when trying file explorers on my phone.
ARHD, Elemental Kernel, S-off?
"Won't let me" means exactly what?
Maybe your firewall is blocking it?
Does your device show up as media device in WinExplorer?
What kind of files and size?
Have you tried Superbeam or Airdroid = transfer over WiFI?
Or even better: set up a shared folder (shared with everyone) on your laptop's C: drive, get File Manager HD or ES Explorer on your phone and transfer files via the network share.
