Hello everybody,
Is the LCD and touchscreen assembly the same on the Wifi only version and on the 4G LTE version?
I believe it is.
I recently replaced the broken (shattered) screen in my Nexus 7 2013 LTE. I purchased a replacement screen from ebay for a little over $100. NOTE: The replacement is the lcd and digitizer. HOWEVER, the screen is attached (fused) to a plastic mount using very strong double sided adhesive tape. Opening up the device and getting everything out wasn't too hard, but getting the screen off the plastic mount was a huge pain. I ended up tearing the adhesive completely off the plastic and using super glue to adhere the new screen to the plastic. It's iffy at best, but I have it installed in my car now and I purchased another one for everyday use. Moral of the story: you may just want to buy a new one and sell the broken one on ebay or something.

Link describing the pain of screen repair (I think this is of the 2012 version, but the same principle applies):youtube.com/watch?v=V3Zrwo0Ofo4
Hope that helps.
I am getting the nexus 7 2012 led screen for around $40. Shall I but it? Will it be compatible with nexus 2013 LTE?

No, do not buy the 2012 screen for the 2013 model, I believe the screen size is a little different and also because the camera is in a different place
The resolution of the 2 screens are different. Not going to work. Even if it did, why would you even consider going from 1920x1200 to 1200x800?

I don't know the answer to question, but I do know this thing has a very durable screen. I carry it around in my back pocket, and it rides around in a steel clipboard a few hours a day. Your needs may be different than mine, but if you're only talking light use, there is no real need for a screen protector. I hope this helps at least a little!

FWIW, I was in a local Dollar Store today and they had SPs for either iPad or iPad mini.
For $1 it'd be worth experimenting.
If you have any place similar nearby it might be worth a try.
Will none of the big name screen protector companies ship to your country? Personally I prefer Ghost Armor! That's what I have on all of my devices! Just ordered one tonight since Ghost Armor finally released them for the N7 FHD!

As the device is not out for sale in Egypt officially so there is no screen protector for it yet
Found that the Galaxy Tab P1000 ( The old one ) is the nearest one to Nexus 7 , it's even smaller so no cuts will be needed
Galaxy Tab P1000 Dimensions: 190.1 x 120.5 x 12 mm (7.48 x 4.74 x 0.47 in)
Nexus 7 2013 Dimensions: 200 x 114 x 8.7 mm (7.87 x 4.49 x 0.34 in)
Will get a one and try it
Thanks all for your help
Another Question ,,,
Is it safe to use Galaxy Note II Original Charger instead of using ASUS Charger ??!!

personally, i think it is not safe to use the Note 2 charger. it is better to use the original one.
by the way, i am using the Gearmaxx anti-glare screen protector for protecting the screen for my Nexus 7. just my sharing, i am happy on the quality of this screen protector but i think you can check it out first before you buy the screen protector. if you don't think this product is good, you are always welcome to choose another. but personally, i like this Gearmaxx screen protector and so i would like to share to you. cheers! :victory:

It's perfectly safe to use any micro USB charger
Hi,
After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, my screen returned to a semi-problematic state (after being somewhat helped by 4.4). After reading again through previous threads about the ever lasting screen problems, I noticed some had significant problems when their cases were folding back 180 degrees behind the N7.
Since I had the tablet it has almost never left its case. The model I bought is the following Moko : http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00E4OKXPU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tried removing the tablet from the case and no longer have any screen problems, and it doesn't seem to matter anymore on what surface or in what position the tablet is. From what I understand, there are multiple types of problems with the screen ; the one I had was simply low sensitivity (had to press really hard or multiple times sometimes for the device to register the touch).
So I'm asking : could it be that specific case? Could it be the magnet that provides the auto-wake function? Could it be metallic parts (?) in the case that affect grounding?
What is everyone else's mileage on this? Any screen problems with/without cases on?

I have the same problem and have written about it more than once on this forum without finding any fellow sufferers or suggestions. I too have a moko slim case but the problem is not case specific because I've tried other cases with no improvement.
It is device specific. I have both a nexus 7 (2012) and a nexus 7 (2013). Both are in the same model moko case. Yet the problem only occurs in the 2013 model.
What happens in my case is the following.
With the case folded back 180° the touch screen will occasionally freeze while I'm typing. I discovered that if I move the folded case flap off a few degrees, so it is separated from the other flap by half an inch or so, the touch screen unfreezes. If I immediately fold it back to the 180° position the freezing will sometimes recur which is why I think it is related.
This never happened with the 2012 device. I've tried to figure out if it was magnet related, heat related, etc. and finally gave up and just live with it.
Another thread, dealing with phantom touches in the 2013 model, mentioned being able to fix that by opening the back of the device and reseating the loose touch screen cable. I've not done that. Maybe pressure from the 180° flap against the back of the nexus is causing the problem. Don't know. It is annoying. Quality control is terrible with the 2013 model. Asus or Google should really replace all the defective units.
I don't think its pressure-related (when the case is folded back).
There has to be an explanation as to why the case makes the screen freeze... I also suspected the magnet, but trying to put another magnet below and touching the (inclined) tablet did not reproduce the problem.
Maybe it has to do with the case's material, if static builds up on it. Maybe it's the magnet that finds itself behind the tablet as well when the case is folded back.
What other cases did you try? Did they have a magnet?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Here it's no difference if case is folded or not. Just freezed.
I cut off the magnet from the case; although it was a very small magnet it breakes the compass completely. You can test it by yourself or just look for it on youtube. Now ask yourself why the original asus case has no magnet built in...
Already sent the tablet in, they've changed screen. No improvement. Going to send it in a 2nd time, if they can't fix I'm going for refund.
Has removing the magnet fix the freezing?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I had a case that had a magnet and the second I took my Nexus 7 out of it, it worked near perfect. It was so bad that playing a game like minecraft, I'd be looking straight forward, and I would move my right thumb up not even a noticable distance and I'd be looking straight up. I removed the case, and it works almost perfectly now. It's probably the magnet. I later got the official Nexus 7 2013 case and it's amazing.
EDIT: This is the case I had. "rooCASE Google Nexus 7 FHD 2nd Gen Tablet Dual-View Folio Case Cover - Black (with Pen Stylus) Nexus 7 2 2013 Model" on Amazon. (I can't post links yet, sorry xD)
Magnet out only fixed compass. Did try out the Touchscreen drivers from another thread, took 3 hours to test all. Almost fixed all problems.

Its a grounding issue with the touchscreen. 4.4 helps this. There is also flashible fixes from Sfhub for more fine tuning.

If it is a grounding issue, doesn't that make it a hardware problem requiring a hardware fix? How would software fix it?
I agree. How could a software fix a hardware issue? Well still, in 4.3 I had stuck keys, which is no longer the case in 4.4... Weird.
Besides, that might be why official cases have no magnet, no?

Hello there,
my N7 second Gen device unfortunately got damaged during transport. The small bezel between screen and back case of the device got cracked at one corner.
A search did not bring up any results concerning repair options or parts, therfore I would be very happy for any advice what I can do to fix my tablet. Is the bezel available as a replacement part (I hope so), or is more nescessary?
Best regards
Hans
You may need to contact them directly for the specific part to order: http://us.estore.asus.com
Cheapest and easiest thing to do is buy a refurbished N7 2013 or a used one with a good screen, then swap the guts (main pcboard) from yours to the replacement. I got one for about $140 from Woot.com last month after trying to find a cheaper replacement screen with no luck. The N7 2012 screen won't work, of course.
Now I have a spare battery and such in reserve !

There is a separate charger you can use for your battery, purchase an extra battery with the charger that charges your battery for you without it being in your phone. I have 3 batteries, 1 in my phone,1 in my wallet, and 1 that stays charged on the charger. So I rarely charge my phone just switch the batteries if that helps with your charging issue. It's a hassle, but a start if you don't want to purchase a new phone or can't fix your charge port.

what about the cracked screen/glass. and i want to repair this phone to sell it after
I recommend you to have a professional do it. I tried to fix mine and the LCD didn't have enough glue (mfg defect) and the whole thing came out. I end up with a broken LCD that cost me $225 to fix.
Yeah if you haven't repaired anything else like this before I would send it in.
The digitizer is glued to the LCD and not easy to take off.

Just go on eBay and buy the lcd and the digitizer and the frame together. It's kind of expensive, but its better than taking the LCD and the digitizer apart. Everything you have to do is swap the internals from your broken phone to the new phone. Also make sure you YouTube some videos on how to do it and you will save yourself around 100 bucks. Good luck. I did this on my own and it was a piece of cake.

:crying:..USA, hello hi.. i live in europe: Norway
plz JUST tell what parts i could get off from eBay and fix it myself or my father wiill do it profecionaly :cyclops:
Please not That expensive parts, there are allways cheaper copies around from china or whatever i could just buy that instead
i just want the phone to WORK because its ****ing Dead for ages now:silly:
Ok the parts you need are the Lcd screen with the digitizer and the frame. There are no other cheaper parts from China since this are OEM parts. How ever, if youre Screen is broken and your digitizer is not you can buy the front LCD screen alone for about 8 dollars on eBay, but the only way to know this is if you can have the phone on. If there is no black spots on the screen and its just the front screen thats shattered then you dont need to buy the LCD digitizer and the frame. You only need the front screen LCD which I mentioned above and is around 8 dollars.

I've bought 3 or 4 from China. They're good where the vendor is reputable. Look at the number of units sold and the ratings. They're around 45USD. Removing the assembly from the frame is doable, but replacing just the digitizer is NOT recommended, as I've tried at least 5 of them from various sellers and none worked properly. Plus the digitizer touches the LCD at several points and without LOCA, would create rainbow spots, which would not affect functionality, but esthetically undesirable. There are guides on how to go this is you Goog. Have fun.
I replaced 2 screens on 2 N7, yes, buy the LCD+digitizer+screen combo. Even then, removing the broken screen from the frame is difficult, the melting point of the glue is very high and on both N7 I melted a little bit the frame...
I bought the 2 combo here:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/181285339236?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
One had a dead pixel after a few days and is kind "yellowish", the other one is as OEM and has better color/white balance, so YMMV.
I think i ll go for the 2 combo. I hope that it will not be yellowish. Thank you for the help!
