That result was with LTE on the whole day...with HSPA+ as the maximum setting, I would expect slightly less. For some reason being on LTE gives me better battery life. I have not tried running this phone on EDGE only yet. I need to do more testing.
usualy 4 hours 2 days idle
or 5 hours 1 day idle

There has to be a relation between percentage used by screen and The screen on time, independent of the other functions of the phone.

Yep, that was my bad lol. I was going through my screenshot folder and accidentally typed out info from a Galaxy S4 screen-on image (I have too many phones). I was sending this from my phone so I guess I forgot to change that line cause it was scrunched up. The image I uploaded _is_ from my Optimus G Pro with the 3140mAh Bastex battery.
Will fix in post.

Amazing. Do you think i should return my phone to lg for service.
I started this thread with a plan of collecting information related to the percentage of battery used by the screen and the screen on time. I wanted to find a relationship between the two and draw an average graph so that, people can know if their batteries are under performing / excellent or at the average. But the sample size now is too small to do that. How do I get more users to give this information?
Its pretty much just gonna take time...sadly, the G Pro isn't the most popular phone. I'll send whoever I can find toward your thread, though.

While the warranty on the phone is of 1 year, the warranty on the battery is just 6 months. I think I will wait for another month before I give it for service.

did u try calibrating the battery with any of the free software on the market !
i used to get 3 hours "seriously" out of this phone ... after deploating and calibration it can last 12 hours with heavy use !
I've started using an external battery charger (one of the official lg ones from Ebay) and an extra battery, and just swap them out when my phone dies, and I've noticed on the few occasions where I charge my phone by plugging it in, even though it says 100% (and I've done all the battery calibrations and everything) it doesn't last as long as when I pop in a fully externally charged battery.
My device battery life also got better in comparison to the first days i used it. But for some reason i experience some strange usage right now.
For example:
In the morning from 7 - 10am 100%... later 10% in 15 minutes, with phone in standby-mode.
I checked after i'd make a phonecall, hardware consumption for radio was on 99,9%. After reboot it was ok again, but later hardware consumption for the screen was at high level. Strange... everyday a new experience.
Turning LTE off helped my Spectrum last 24+ hours. I turn 4G on whenever I really need it, though. And with 4G on all day, I can get 12-16 hours under moderate use.

+1, better battery life than stock ROM
I have honestly never seen a phone go through battery quite like this one. I love the phone to death. It feels solid in the hand, and the screen quality is amazing. But I can't deal with the battery going like this. I input a new APN so it would just use HSPA+ .. but does that actually stop the LTE radio from searching? (I am in a non-LTE area)

Yes our screens are a big consumer of power but there are plenty of disadvantages to AMOLED: heat, image burn (like a plasma tv), image quality and longevity of the screen. The more pixles that are lit the more power it uses, to the point that it uses more power than IPS with large areas of the screen are lit. This along with image retention is why CM7/9/10 has black as a background for everything and stock doesn't. Think of it as LED/LCD TV's vs Plasma. Similar power curves between them.
BTW the little program above dropped my idle power usage to only 5% over 8 hours. I will be trying it with cm10 to see if I get similar results.

I bought a used Galaxy S3 just a few days ago and have had pretty crappy battery life, or at least crappy when compared to what I read in some reviews. This guy claims that a 90 minute video with sync going on in background drained the battery to only 82%. I'm seeing much worse numbers. Leaving the screen on for one hour drained the battery to 75%. Other than occasionally touching the screen, I didn't use the phone for anything else during this time. Screen brightness was set to about 60% and wifi was off. The phone is rooted but still on stock UVLH2. Screenshots of the battery usage screen are attached. Does it sound like I have a bad battery?
Most people are getting about 5 hours of screen on time per battery charge.
At that rate you get 4 hours thats what I average with 2 different batteries.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. I left the screen on as a mean of draining the battery that can be easily and consistently reproduced. Browsing the web, playing a video, or running some app introduces additional variables that I can't easily control for. If, as dkmlb says, most people are getting about 5 hours of screen time while also using the phone (browsing the web, playing a game, etc.) and I'm getting only 4hrs while not using power for anything but the screen, then there is possibly something wrong with my battery.
you need to use the phone more for the battery to adjust itself. I set the brightness at 50, wifi on (when outside, 4G on), GPS on. My daily usage includes checking email, reading news on Pulse, check google play, etc yesterday the total screen time on was 3 hours. All of that last over a day (24h) and I still had 10%. (I dont play video, music, games, etc..)
What you said was true I didn't even think about it, but give it a couple days and cycle the battery normally (don't let it go past 3% with out plugging it in) and use it as a daily use and see if its good for you.

To cure your problem. ....
New device for first time comes to life doesn't have calibration set by OP system. .....
So first charge your phone to full and go beyond warning to charge and go down to 3-4 % remaining charge then plug to charge and charge without stopping to 100%
And do 2-3 times like this then your battery discharge will show properly
Also good habits are to use .....
Hold home button for 2-3 second and open little bottom screen click on bottom left and choose ram.....then clear ram....any time you going to idle and each time you going to charge. .....to find more about what this do search XDA .....
Also there is many hungry apps on market that runs under ground all the time. ....so learn and discover how to take control of your phone and make it run like champion
#2 you can use ES task manager to do some fine tuning to get the most juice of your battery
#3 Better battery stats
#4 Battery booster
#5 Juice defender. .....are some alternative to top of the iceberg on your solution. ....or you can take time and learn to do all this by yourself manually

Is everyone who posted on LTE or just hspa+, 2g etc?
I notice a big improvement ( like another person mentioned in another thread) when lte is off. My speedtest results between lte and hspa were the same download speeds but lte had better upload by two megabit.
battery life for me is great, then again im coming from an htc amaze lol. That battery suuuucked.

I did a few more tests w speed test.net and noticed that when on HSPA plus and not on LTE I actually get faster download speeds. On LTE it was 8 to 10 megabits the last 24 hours and now HSPA plus I'm getting 18 to 21 megabit down. Anyone know why this might be?

You need to understand that they provided the extra 'oomph' in the battery department, because this is a HUGE screen.
Another thing, is that LG's stock interface is filled with a lot of white menus, and submenus, etc.. That will also impact battery life more than you know.
Another factor to bring in to consideration is the cell coverage. Your phone has to work harder to acquire signal, in hard to reach places by your carrier.
All of these and more (wakelocks, no deep sleep, etc..) Have a big impact on your device's battery life.

I am thinking of buying the G3, my only concern is the battery life.
Does the monster display's resolution affect the battery life much?
How much on average does it last and how much does the brightness affect the battery life.
Thank you!
PS. Sorry for my English :/
Search on Google, there are plenty of reviews covering battery life as well. Briefly, "surprisingly good" according to most of them.. not worse than competition (Z2, M8, S5) but not as good as its predecessor G2, means that it is good enough.

Truth. Really depends on the bootloader situation. Fortunately, it's nice that the root is available--at least debloating the phones of preloaded junk can be done.
Its actually better than the S5's battery and my HTC Butterfly S 3200mah battery.
I can easily last 2 days using the LG G3
I had all three phones I would say the htc m8 is the best ,the g3 would be about 92% of the htc and the s5 would be 85% of the htc.
