I am thinking of buying the G3, my only concern is the battery life.
Does the monster display's resolution affect the battery life much?
How much on average does it last and how much does the brightness affect the battery life.
Thank you!
PS. Sorry for my English :/
Search on Google, there are plenty of reviews covering battery life as well. Briefly, "surprisingly good" according to most of them.. not worse than competition (Z2, M8, S5) but not as good as its predecessor G2, means that it is good enough.

I have 100% auto brightness and am on 49% battery with 3 hours 1 minute screen on time. That's good.

All reviews are essentially saying that, despite the screen size, this phone basically outperforms everything else in the battery department.

So far I am getting between 11 and 26 hours with usually something in the middle 15-18 hours. This is on 85% brightness auto, wifi/bluetooth always on, location always on. 2+ hours of video playback and total of around 4.5 hours screen time in the battery stats

Truth. Really depends on the bootloader situation. Fortunately, it's nice that the root is available--at least debloating the phones of preloaded junk can be done.
Its actually better than the S5's battery and my HTC Butterfly S 3200mah battery.
I can easily last 2 days using the LG G3
I had all three phones I would say the htc m8 is the best ,the g3 would be about 92% of the htc and the s5 would be 85% of the htc.

By about the 3rd day it seemed better. But it's also difficult to gauge because the first few days you're bound to toy with it constantly.
Until there is an empirical way to gauge usage, like an amp meter attached to the phone - it's all perception imo.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. First of all, it will get better, I won't bother explaining the science behind it considering you can do your own research, but it will, also, it can't be "fixed." Just like they can't make it an 8 mega pixel camera in an OTA. You can get it much better by doing custom roms and thigns of that nature.

First off, it's hard to tell by your screenshot how good or bad your battery life is. You're burning approximately 10%/hr, but maybe you had your screen on or were surfing the internet for a portion of that time. Anything that involves data transfer will kill your battery faster.
I got my Galaxy Nexus on Wednesday, and I've had great battery from the start. I calibrated it by letting the phone's initial charge die down to zero, and then charged it all the way up to 100%, and then used the Battery Calibration tool. I drain between 2-3% hour with light use, but can obviously drain much more depending on what I'm using the phone for.
That being said, for those on this board who think an OS upgrade is going to fix the problem, I highly doubt it. I have a reasonably poor cell signal (averages around -95 dbm), but still get solid battery life. Given that we were all issued phones with the same software, if you're experiencing incredibly bad battery life, I'm going to point my finger at the hardware. It just doesn't make sense that some of us with 4.0.2 get great battery life, and others do not. You probably have either a bad battery or a bad phone. Now, I'll probably get called out for saying this, but watch all the posts that follow when the update releases, when people still have poor battery life.
This is my 3rd Android phone (Incredible, Charge, GN), and every one of these phones has had poor battery life. On average, if I'm playing around with the screen on, I'm draining upwards of 10%/hr, if not more. But if you properly calibrate the battery - which is VERY important - you should easily be able to get a full day's charge out of your phone.
There is a post on XDA about the 13 steps to proper battery calibration. Once I followed it on my last phone, my battery life went up at least 50%. You have to let the battery drain to 100%, then bump charge a number of times, then use the battery calibrator.

Try running without JuiceDefender. Constantly toggling data on and off (or wifi on and off) actually hurts battery in almost all cases.

Your results may vary, but when I used Juice Defender or Green Power on my Droid Charge, I nearly doubled the battery life. I haven't put it on my GN yet because my battery life is much better than what I had with the Charge.

Gotta be a software issue with the battery.
Just this past weekend in Wash DC. Very strong 4 G market.
I had it fully charged off charger. After 7 hours without touching the phone even with google plus sign out, the battery went from 100% to 54%. It's like the phone was active a lot without me even touching it. No SMS/mms either. No emails either.
Know. I did same thing and put it on airplane mode with it 100% charged. After 7 hours on airplane mode it was at 98%.
So it's gotta be an operating system issue.
I tried it on wifi instead of 4G mode. And battery drainage was down to 72% after no use overnight.
Im so impressed! did have a s3, and I thought the battery wasnt very good with heavy usage. Fully charged it once, so its on its first cycle, and its lasting as if it will withstand heavy usage for most of the day

Does anyone stream their music? I take my OneS off the charger at 7 and the battery is pretty much dead by 1:30 pm with about 3-4 hours of streaming SiriusXM radio and some web browsing.

I know most of you already notice this but if you don't:
In Setting/ Power saving mode, check the "CPU power saving" then your phone will be limit to 1.1GHz max from 1.6Ghz.
I would suggest to tick on the "Screen power saving", "background color" and "turn off haptic feedback" to save some extra juice.
LTE on. 24h unplugged. 75% screen brightness. Full heavy haptic feedback. Heavy gaming and Internet use. Phone calls. Texting. 3D live wallpaper. Still 7h screen on time before the phone finally had to be plugged in.

I would understand this philosophy if the Note 2 didn't have an easily replaceable battery, but in a years time you could replace a poor battery for cheap. Just recently the stand with extra battery and charger was $30 on the Samsung site (it may still be that price)

You do know to "remove bloat" all you had to do was go into the stock app manager in settings and disable anything you didn't want. That is actually a much better solution than "freezing" with TiBu or removing altogether. I'm not convinced root and mods are 100% stable yet. Most people reporting decreased battery life are those that have rooted or modded something. I'm still 100% stock with ATT stuff disabled and batt life is still 7+ hours.

Even bare stock I wasn't getting that much screen on time. So far I've only rooted and changed the kernel. Though today my battery life is starting off good. Yesterday I ticked the power saving option for the screen. I'll post an update tomorrow.
Today I was on for 5.5 hours, screen time of 2.2 and was at 54% with Power Saving On
So I went to bell and grabbed another battery
Time will tell if that helps
I could never reach 5 hours of screen time but could have the phone on for 30+ hours
I cant wait till we get more developer support, I used Francos Kernel with my galaxy nexus and it improved battery by 30 % and made my 8 hours overnight use only 2% battery. I was using 12-17% overnight with my note 2 asleep. Aside from kernels and roms I use this phone exactly the same as I did my Nexus. wifi off, bt off, gps on, push email on, auto brightness

Lithium Ion batteries actually do better if you don't charge it constantly. In other words let it run down a bit before charging. You don't want to always keep "topping it off". But in general these batteries are much more resilient than others.
Just do some research. There's lots of info out there.

Umm, no, it does not. You are stressing the battery out. Unless needed, dont keep the battery below 20%. Its healthier to charge the phone sporatically throughout the day.

Agreed. Full discharges are not necessary for lithium ion batteries. Full discharges were needed for NiCad or NiMH batteries as they suffered from memory effect. LithIon doesn't suffer from this. With that said, a lot of experts do suggest discharging a LithIon periodically, maybe once a month or every other month.
Hello,
Some year ago or so I had a GNex on OTA 4.2.2 that I bought from ebay, and the battery life was terrible - some 4 hours of battery life which 80% was from the screen which I had on auto.
I also replaced the battery with one from a GS2 and the battery life did not improve.
I sold my LG G2 because the camera sucked, so I am considering buying a GNex again, so is this how the battery life is with the GNex on all? Or just my specific phone I had.
BTW I had the VZW model.

It took me a couple days before I actually got good battery life. Needs to set in, what I recommend doing is fully charge it and let it get down to in-between 1 and 5 percent before charging again. Don't do any in-between charging, at least that's what works for me.
My explodey Note 7 didn't get bad battery life at all. I couldn't complain one bit and was happy with it. This new Note 7 though... I think I got a real winner.
