[Q] galaxy s3 i747m 4.1.2 to 4.3 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

hello,
I have a Galaxy S3 i747m Version 4.1.2, and I want the past to version 4.3.
when I try to do the parameter from the phone I get a message that displays "your device has been changed. upgrades, software updates are no longer available"
how I can do it from the computer? and what do I need to download as an application?
excuse me for my English is google who translated

I recommend that you not update to 4.3 if you ever intend to root the phone or install a custom rom and recovery.

my phone was Roote but I remove the root to move to version 4.3

Do you have warranty on your phone? If you do and you root a stock 4.3 room ROM, it will trip the Knox counter and good your warranty.

[SOLVED] KNOX doubts before buying i747

Hello everybody,
My current device is a Captivate, and I'm thinking about upgrading to an i747. After doing some research in the forums I found out about knox, but find it a little bit confusing, let's see..
1) Has there been any known cases of devices that were shipped with a knox bootloader?
2) In a i747, what does a knox bootloader look like in Download Mode (as opposite to a non-knox one, does it say knox warranty void or something else?)
3) This is where I'm most confused. If you've got a knox bootloader, then you can't downgrade it, and can't flash anything except for new official otas? would anything except the ota void it? can you flash CM11 for example? and if it's void, that means that it's a hard brick? or does it still work? Can you go foward if it's void (again, like cm11)?
4) Let's say the one I get comes with 4.0, I can root and move freely between CM and stock as long as I don't flash 4.3?
I also have the option to go for a S4 Mini, but given it has the same issue and similar hw.. love the S3 screen
Thanks in advance!
Samsung s3, s4, Note 3, etc. that shipped with 4.3 will include Knox.
If the device shipped with Knox, you will see something like warranty bit in the text at the top of the download screen.
If you have a knox bootloader, you cannot downgrade to an earlier bootloader but you can still install a custom recovery and custom ROMs which voids the warranty but does not brick the phone. You can flash any ROM you want with a 4.3 Knox bootloader as long as the ROM does not try to flash a new bootloader.
If you have a stock 4.3 phone and try to load anything that is not official Samsung software, it will trigger the knox counter (change from 0 to 1 or 0x0 to 0x1) and void your warranty. At the moment, there is no way to reset the knox counter to 0.
Yes, if you get a 4.04 phone, you can install a custom recovery, custom ROM, and move freely among custom ROMs if these ROMs are support but the installed bootloader.
I have done all of this with an i747m (Bell version of the s3).
That's crystal clear, I was confused and thought that if you had knox and flashed anything else over it it would brick... but I see now, just avoid bootloaders.
Thanks!

[Q] How to Manual Flash Stock ROM??

First of all, my phone is not rooted. I downloaded the Samsung official 4.3 Unbranded ROM for my country from HERE but I have no idea how to manually flash it without tripping KNOX and voiding my warranty.
Does anyone know how I can safely flash it?
I think that tecnically you can't... You probably have to install one of the ROMs in the development section that don't have Knox... You have some options... But that would imply rooting, changing recovery, etc etc... The thing is when you install the ROM you don't "trip" Knox... You only do that if you try to root it, change recovery etc. So if you're NOT planing to root or use custom roms, AT LEAST until you're warranty expires, you can install the software even via Kies Air and don't lose you're warranty... ow! By the way I can't confirm you if you're source is good... The "official source" for "official firmware" is http_etc_samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N7105T (canĀ“t post links... just substitute "http_etc_" for the "htp://www"), at least for your model that I assume that is GT-N7105T and not GT-N7105 or GT-N7100... But even with that you need aditional software (on the PC: Odin, or, on the phone itself: Mobile Odin Pro, which requires root) Once again I can be mistaken...

Simple Question about Knox and Custom ROMs, Recoveries, and Themes...

Hi Friends,
I am coming from a Sprint Note 3, last ROM activity more than 6 months ago. I now want to use to a GSM provider, thus I bought the T-Mobile Note 3, and am ready to get it rooted and etc.
But one simple question, in case something is changed in the last 6 months:
There is NO WAY, on Tmo Note 3, to install a Custom ROM, Recovery, and/or themes WITHOUT tripping the Knox counter, correct?
I only ask because I thought in the ATT version they're able to use Safe Strap or something...
Thank you!

If your new Tmobile Note 3 has not been upgraded to Android 4.4.2
and your baseband it "N900TUVUBMI7" then you are in luck!
If the above is true then your note 3 has not caught the knox pox yet
and never will unless you upgrade your firmware for a newer version.
What this means is that you can root, install any themes and any custom roms
and you will not catch the knox pox, the android jellybean 4.3 N900TUVUBMI7
firmwares and stock or custom roms do not include knox in the firmware like
Kitkat 4.4.2 NB4 and NE6 updates do.
On the tmobile note 3 its super easy to root, flashing
custom roms and installing/flashing themes.
The tmobile note 3 has no safe-strap or anything like it.
Rooting is a straight forward thing which could not be
easier.
The only way to keep the knox away is not to upgrade to android 4.4.2 NB4 (or newer)
and keep the original jellybean 4.3 with baseband of N900TUVUBMI7 which hopefully
came with your new phone.
You can check the baseband easily, just go into settings and find the "About Device"
and scroll down until you see baseband and see if it's N900TUVUBMI7.
When I first bought my new note 3 it had the N900TUVUBMI7 baseband.
There is not enough difference or improvement in any of the updates available now
for someone who is really worried about warranty issues.
Once you catch knox there is no way to remove or disable it.
Personally I could care less about knox but that's just me.
Good luck!

Misterjunky, thank you SO MUCH for the very informative post! Unfortunately, the previous owner of the phone did upgrade to NB4, so it looks like I am quite screwed?
With that said, even if I do go around the Knox trip by Kies update to NE4, and then using TowelRoot, I don't suppose there is anyway to keep the Knox count to 0x0, and still get the Custom Recovery installed for ROMs and Themes, correct?
Thank you again! LOL!

I'm lost with which one cf auto root, de la vega, kingo etc. which one do you think is better for me? . my last cellphone is a note 2 from verizon. But it was so easy to root it. And the note 3 with all the stuff with knox is exploding my head x_X
I want to root because i'm in DR and i need to sim unlock the phone via region lock away, and i want to update to kitkat without any problem but with my root
Edit: i used Towelroot new root method by geohot and it worked!!!!! really awesome and fast. i used the region lock away it worked too. Now i just want to upgrade to kk without loosing my sim lock :L, any recommendations?

Upgrading the firmware/rom to a newer than NE4 or NE6 using Kies or Odin
will NOT touch the KNOX counter but it will still get KNOX if you root the
phone and flash custom roms and or kernels.
Any other rooting method beside cd-autoroot is just asking for trouble.
Unfortunatly we cannot downgrade to jellybean 4.3
There is a complicated way to ROOT NB4/NE4/NE6 official Samsung firmware
without tripping the Knox counter, but it's complicated and even after successful
root you still will not be able to flash custom roms, recoveries or kernels without
tripping the KNOX counter.
Here is a link in case you are interested in "Root De La Vega" which has step
by step instructions how to use Root De La Vega to get root access without
tripping the Knox counter:

Good luck!

Here is the direct download link for the proper cf-autoroot for Note 3 N900T.
http://download.chainfire.eu/354/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hltetmo-hltetmo-smn900t.zip
1: Unzip this zip file into a NEW folder on your windows desktop.
2: Be sure you have the Samsung USB driver installed in your computer.
3: Open odin and put the cf-autoroot file in the PDA slot in odin.
4: Power down the phone.
5: Plug the USB cable from computer to your phone.
6: You should see the [com:xx] in odin change colors
7: Click RUN in odin
8: It usually takes about 5 minutes for it to flash, after it's successful the phone reboots.
That's all there is to rooting.
Good luck!

[Q] 4.2.2 vs 4.3 rooting and getting OTA updates

Hi,
Recently I got a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 which has 4.2.2. It has been nagging me with an OTA update to 4.3.
- I heard it's really hard to root once you move to 4.3. Is that true?
Although I don't need to root right now, I would like to keep my options open for future.
- If I root, can I still get OTA updates without manually loading ROMs?
- Does this remove the root?
- Anyway to keep the root and still get OTA updates from T-Mobile (phone is a t-mobile branded one, but I'm using a PTel SIM)
Thanks in advance.
PS: I read some thread regarding this and I have some rough idea, but wanted to confirm it
The big concern is that firmware 4.3 has Knox boot loader. U can still root and flash custom Roms but most likely ull trip the Knox security and if never wanna go back to stock ull be involve in more risk then u weren't to update. Like u said keep ur opinion open and stay at MDL boot loader ,Root and flash ROM and ull have latest version of android!!
[emoji3] hope this helps !

So if I root (the 4.2.2) and then accept the OTA what would happen?
If u root it won't let u receive OTA it will give u a message about your phone being modified

Samsung Galaxy S4 latest update 4.4.4 NH7 root?

I just got my new S4 recently and I took the 4.4.4 update that was avaliable for it. I have been reading on here for hours about how if you root it/upload custom boot loader it'll trip knox.
Could someone answer me a few questions. I would really appreciate it!
Does knox matter if you don't have a warranty etc?
Is there a way to go ahead and root 4.4.4/NH7 without tripping knox or at all?
Also, is there custom boot loaders and all that for this update as well?
1) nope.. only if it still has Samsung warranty
2) not at the moment
3) no, they are not needed
Someone reset Knox on note 3 exynos.......
