My first purchase was from Asda Direct - pad arrived, got the yellow line and yellow smudges during overheat. Interestingly enough, the box in which it arrived was not sealed. My guess = I got handed a return.
Second one came from coop electrical direct. This one, no yellow lines or yellow smudges during Antutu + charging.
Yellow tint on screen, fixed without rooting using the blues - gamma app.
However, this one was taped using see-through tape. On Youtube I've watched videos of LG G Pads being opened, that had a : 'Please do not accept if seal is broken' tape on the side.
Mine didn't have that on either occasion.
Anyone else from the UK market that has received their pads had this? And if so from which store?
Many thanks.

Thank you
Did the seal say : Please do not accept if seal is broken?
I purchased from asda direct. Not sealed but no marks and alll accessories in box were wrapped. Everything fine apart from blue line issue so will probably return as faulty and get replacement.
Bought off eBay. Was securely sealed. No issues.

Decided to return mine to coop - they are nice enough to courier pick it from my place, and give me the replacement on the spot so I won't be without a tablet...
The bottom left corner bleed was distracting, and the yellow tinge was too strong. At this point I don't really mind the 7 bright spots at the bottom of the screen at 20% Brighteness, provided I find a tablet with :
Minimal light bleed otherwise
No blue line
Minimal yellow tinge.
Let's see how no.3 performs tomorrow..

311 SN, it's going back. I really want this tablet but I am starting to think it's not for me
Got mine from ASDA Direct and it wasn't security sealed. Serial number starting in 310 and have both light bleed and the blue line. (Neither of which are bad enough to cause a bother mind you!) However mine has a phantom backlight-wont-even-turn-on issue when I wake the device every 1 in 10 or so times. Could be hardware related but I barely saw it on other non-stock ROMs, so assume it's a software trigger causing it.
Mind you, mine was completely missing the security tape, not like it had it and was already broken. Never had a yellow tinge either!

I cannot believe I'll stoop so low as this..I've owned android for years and years, and I'm the proud owner of a Z1 phone...
But I think I'll go and get an ipad mini with retina. At least there I can count on good support and on tablets I can buy from and return to a shop rather than deal with online suppliers...
I wish there was an actual high street shop with the g pads, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon :S ah well...

I do not understand why there are no physical retailers in the uk where we can buy from...
G pad in the High street
Yes does seem funny that PC world or others don't have it but if you go into the Big Asda Living the have a Samsung display !
Have not rang Asda as our phones out.
Just been looking at the New Samsung Tab 4 out preview it is high screen res but will be about the £350 £ 400 as it will be bundled with extras
so looks like 8" are limited it a pity because the G pad is a good piece of kit just screen brightness
"So still dithering !!! "

Hi guys,
So, I bought mine from CeX, a condition A machine for £185 and I sold my old N7 for £80. Not a mark on it, I have the blue line issue every now and then, but honestly I have only noticed it a couple of times. Overall I am super happy with it. I checked everything out on it the day I got it and have had no issues so far, about a month later.
As for the reason we can't buy it from a store, I think it has something to do with the way that LG made deals with distributors. It looks like they didn't want to spend too much money on it as they were unsure of the response.
Tom.

Hi, this is my first post so id like to say hi.
This place has been a mine of info for me during my two weeks of owning my HOX.
I am now onto my third White HOX.
This morning i swapped it as the screen flexing was becoming too much of an annoyance. The first phone had a faulty battery, the second one flex and low and behold this one also has flex issues.
I swapped it at carphone warehouse. I have to say they have been very good. The manager served me today and bought out 7 white phones all of which had the flex issue. He has given me the best of the worst. I just hope this battery is ok. He apologised and said maybe the new batches would be better but its shocking quality control and he is sending all of the white ones back to HTC asap and demanding an explanation.
My main issues with the flexing is i am worried i might break the screen.
anyway seen now that Amazon have withdrawn the white HOX, wonder if CPW will be next! (and no im not flaming this i actually want to like the phone i came from an Iphone 4)

why do you associate it with colour? The same didn't apply for the gray/black?

My own survey of a number of headsets does actually suggest that flexing is less on grey handsets. Hamdir supposed that the accuracy of the moulding of the polycarbonate has an effect on this. If so, then assuming the grey ones come out of a different mould, perhaps they are generally more "to shape" and hence are having fewer issues. All guesses of course
Both phones have the same issues, just majority of people are buying the white whats why there are "more" defected white HOX.
I wonder what's going on with the white phones. Me and my friend both bought ours from amazon around the 20th of April and we both have perfect ones, no issues that software updates didn't fix. I thought it was just a minority of people having problems, but now I'm starting to feel really lucky!!

yeah there is a return and replacements thread for this kind of thing. there are probably threads about the issues like that flex already as well. but congratulations for making another post just like the others so that more people will follow and do the same. =]

There's no such thing as a "white" One X. There is a One X which is built as a single unit and during the last stage of assembly placed in to either a white or grey body. I'd also venture to guess that the both the grey and white bodies are pressed using the same molds. I can't imagine anything unique about the white polycarbonate body that could possibly make it perform differently than a grey one. It's a piece of non-conductive plastic.

Quite simply if the body was undersized, or distorted in some way, such that it was pressing where it shouldn't, then a number of issues could result. I doubt that the white and grey bodies come out of the same mold. That would mean they would have to produce one or the other at any one time.
I agree, if the moulds were some how off ever so slightly then the phone wouldnt perform correctly (flex, ripples etc) my new one has a gap at the top of the screen where dust likes to gather.

There have been more polls, informal counts, and banter about issues on this forum than any other I've ever participated in. One went down to the day and month the phone was built. With all of this searching for a pattern, I assure you if color played a role it couldn't have escaped the eagle eyes of the participants of this forum who examine each phone with a neuron microscope. I've been in product management and can also assure you that the tolerances capable of drilling the microscopic speaker holes mean that the formation of the overall body isn't what's out of spec and causing technical challenges. It's not a piece of Lego.
Believe what you want, rationality left this forum weeks ago.

nothing will help you trying to get rid of those yellow spots. They appear when phone gets warm and they disappear when phone gets cool, the only way to remove yellow tint is to send it back for a repair.
BTW, used phones got warranty too. But you have to have INVOICE/RECEIPT - any prove that you bought it in a legal way. Buying used phones is legal, but you should get some sort of proof.
If you are without warranty there is a posibility that you got your phone ilegally (stolen/ditched batch).
And one more thing - there are two types of HTC One X out there
1) TRADE ones - usualy they are cheaper with more problems (screen, yellow spots, bad tegra chip, hot as hell) and are usualy sold WW mostly via internet. Usualy they are some sort of "not so good at quality control but we (htc) need money so lets sell them for a lesser amount of money".
2) SELLING ones - they are more expensive and sold by official HTC distibuters and carriers. They have outstanding performance and build quality due to good quality control. But remember, some of SELLING ones can end up with TRADE batch so some might be lucky (I am sorry but AMAZON, EBAY, EXPANSYS have the TRADE ones so you will most likely have some problems with the phone.)

I got a yellow tint at the top of my screen about two weeks ago after having my One X for about 4 weeks. I noticed the phone was getting hot with just about anything I did i.e. using Facebook. I downloaded Dead Pixel Detect and Fix off Play Store, set the colour to yellow and put it on full brightness overnight. I also pressed gently on the affected area with the yellow tint and that helped "massage" the tint away a bit. The next morning it had pretty much gone and stayed away since.

OK, Now I have downloaded "Dead Pixel Detect and Fix" from Play Store, now what should I choose? There are 2 options.
"Fix It" and "Colour"
what should I do next to resolve yellow spots?
was ur issue resolved?
I had two one xs and both had yellow spots. In both phones it went away on its own.
Yellow Tint
I too had the Yellow Stains on the screen. Resolution "HTC replaced the screen". However they took 3 weeks for replacement as the parts were not available. Contrary they provided me +1Month of warranty on the phone.
I am using the replaced screen for 3 weeks now and i see a Yellow spot on the right bottom corner. Will be giving this to the service centre again this week.
I came to this forum to know why the spots occur in first place

had the yellow spot bottom left of screen, fridge trick seemed to work for a very short time, then I came to the fix (for me anyway) I had a rubber type skin/cover on the phone, I took it off and within an hour the yellow dot had disappeared, this may sound basic, but those of you with a protective case and a yellow dot, simply try it and see.
Hey guys,
Recently I dropped my phone when putting it into my pocket (somehow...). I never have dropped it before... and I believe it dropped on the top left corner. I can see a small crack, and the touchscreen is completely non-reactive + LCD colour was green, then pink, now it doesn't even display anything. Everything else seems to work though (getting calls, messages, volume works, buttons work...) except the screen.
Seeing as I'm not too savvy in terms of phones... is it worth it to get it repaired? I have no warranty so it would have to be a repair shop... how much would be a reasonable price for such services? I'm leaning to buy a new phone depending if it's worth it... but the feeling if a simple singular drop from the waist is enough to end the life of a perfectly working $800 device (bought it outright...) makes me extremely upset.
Might be LCD :/

Hey, that stinks......something similar happened to me. I dropped my phone and chipped the corner, the screen did not work after that. I was out of warranty so I just decided to fix it at a local store for 150.00........better than buying full price for a phone.
Good luck
You paid 800$? I got mine off eBay for 300$ brand new. You can find repair services on eBay for decent prices, its the LCD that's going to cost you .

Hi all.
I've received my brand new LG G3 32GB international D855. Awesome phone, really.
Anyway I've encountered some hardware related problems:
1st I've noticed that top and bottom of the screen are brighter, but I think it's due to the LCD technology itself (used amoleds in the last 3 years so a different technology with different and, imho, worse problems).
2nd, and the topic of this question, my camera is showing few very light scratches on the back lens. From my tests, fortunately, I realized that they're not visible in any kind of photo.
I used a cover and a screen protector since I unboxed.
My question is: is anyone experiencing similar issue? Is the lens so easy to damage?
I'm pretty worried because my Note 3 never showed a scratch in 7 months used without any kind of protection...
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have also used a bumper case since the 1st day. I checked my camera lens just now and did not notice any scratches. I think it might be a manufacturing fault.
Not sure my G2 had a ton of scratches too but it never came out in photos... so you should be A-OK... maybe just different glass types.
Note 3 has other quality issues *shakes* lol. S Pen die much? lol.
Meanwhile I realised that the issue with the screen is an actual problem called screen bleeding, related to LCD's back illumination.

I've had mine since 2 days prior to main release (know a guy, mwohaha)
I managed to drop it from my hand, when falling asleep in my chair after working with some stuff for 12h straight - it fell on the floor, and slid a good 20-30 cm across dust, and some "gravel particles" from my shoes - camera facing down. NO scratches.
I'm actually quite impressed

If I'm not wrong I have 2 years to have free reparations/replacements right? Scratches aren't affecting my photos and are only barely visible with naked eye and only in determinated light conditions. If the problem becomes worse or photos will deteriorate I'll update this thread with my experience with LG's warranty system.
For now this phone rocks.

I've noticed some "light leaks" on the top and the bottom of the screen. It's nothing so disturbing, but it's not acceptable in a high end phone like the G3. :/
Anyone else noticed this? Is more visible when you're seen a darker color on the entire screen.

I've also, but it's very hard to notice and when watching films or playing games is almost invisible.
Anyway guys I've an update for you: I'm not crazy scratches are very visible under direct light and I'll definely contact the seller...
Little update
Sent the phone back to the shop (yes, directly to the seller because it was less than 10 days I have bought it :victory, it should get there on Monday.
Let's see if the screen leaky borders, creacky cover and most important buttery lens are enough for a replacement :fingers-crossed:
I'll update you when the shop will contact me.
Another and last update
The shop received the faulty phone today and replaced with a new one
I should get it tomorrow :victory:

I'm testing it now, they also replaced the wall charger that produced a kind of electric noise (and I forgot to tell them it did...)
Another update after the screen tests.
EDIT:
Anyway, a note: the "old" G3 had a "tight" USB which was a pain to plug... the new one works as it should
the "old" G3 had orrible blacks... the new one has very darker blacks
The screen still have the barely visible blue bar on top (seem to be a G3 feature) and has little brighter bottom borders... so I think it's the LCD itself and not a defect. I tested the screen with a simple app called something like Screen Test and every color is uniform (no illumination problems, darker bars/leaks, nothing.
THIS PHONE DOESN'T HAVE AM/PM BUG!
EDIT2:
LOL, AM/PM bug still present

By any chance can you tell me if you have a model with revised hardware? Because i thought all G3's had a hard to plug in usb (including mine).
About the borders i seem to have them too. I think its normal because i can notice them on all lcd displays like the iphone.
On the lowest screen brigtness, during day light my navigation bar is darker than the black bezel on the phone so i assume that yours is the same correct?
And my charger also starts hissing when charging the phone. Weird thing is it also makes the phone hiss when i have earphones on. I dont know if i should be worried.

Accessed phone infos from dialer and it says rev 1.0 like the "old" one.
Yeah I've set brightness to auto and the navbar is barely visible, not like an amoled but the "old" phone had blueish black which was horrible while watching movies even in a dark room with brightness set to minimum
And the new wall charger has the same problem so I think it's normal and it shouldn't explode
I'm not sure about the headphones+charger issue, sorry.
I can hear interference with earphones but I'm not sure of what you mean...

Yeah i thought so.
The blacks are normal to be a little bluish. All lcd are like that and even mine to a small degree.
Thank you for your reply lol. Good luck with your phone buddy
Scratched? How about fully cracked!
First - the phone was not dropped or have any impacts other than what you might get from walking with a phone in your pocket. Other than normal daily use, safe handling and really careful use the phone had nothing happen to it. I cannot pick even a medium bump that happened, but now I have a cracked lens with a hole exposing the camera beneath. LG is warning me that 'mishandling' is not covered ... I certainly did not mishandle the phone in any way.

Here is the video I made for Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH1fNexSNQk
Hi,
I bought recently a new Samsung galaxy tab s4 and the first time I watched a movie laying on bed with the lights off (low screen brightness), I noticed a dark stripe on the screen...
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TqcpX6g0ciE
Well... Is this normal? I guess it's not. Should I return it?
Thanks!
I have this too on my Samsung Note 4. It is a common defect of AMOLED displays, where the temperature and luminance degrades the pixels over time, increasing the probability for burn-in.
You can try to find which app caused this, by matching up the dark area with the app contents. For me it was YouTube and 8 Ball Pool that I was using for long periods at full brightness --- when playing a fullscreen video or game, the screen will NOT turn off. I kept forgetting this, and went to the bathroom or kitchen leaving the screen on!
Did you buy it second hand, used? The previous owner or you may have likely used full brightness and showing a static image for long periods.
There is nothing you can do to fix it. The S4 is still a new flagship model so you may be able to get a replacement.
Well... I bought the tablet two months ago, brand new, and I have barely used it. Like... twice a week or so.
My sister has the same model, used it a lot more and it hasn't developed dark stripes.
I cannot find a match except, maybe, the Google search bar. I guess I will try to get it returned. I cannot accept this on a 500€ tablet. Should I know this before hand, I'd bought a Huawei tablet for half the price.
Or maybe I'm overreacting and I simply got a defective unit.

Hi. Sorry. I've been offline lately. Here is the test image: https://ibb.co/F3VjHSh
I'm going to return the tablet to the store to see what can be done.

Thanks what was your brightness set at ? Man in the video link you posted the text at the bottom looked crazy bright ? On mine it looks fine please note i did move the image like you did my brightness is set at dead center on the second icon so about 25% or 30% ish (im guessing)
Also i set the brightness half way, and i do not get that black bar!
I had the same problem on the tab S3. Samsung text said it was a known issue, affecting about 30% of all screens. It is replaceable under warranty. Eventual getting through the first round of tech support, ask for support team to handle your issue. My tab S4 had the same issue, but it wasn't as noticeable. I accidentally folded into a fold-up couch and demolished it, whenever I got a replacement under AT&T insurance policy, the tablet I got had a perfect screen! I'm taking has best care of it as I possibly can, as it is literally the first perfect screen I've seen on the S Series tablets. It may be frustrating to deal with the 5 to 10 day turnaround time, but as an artist who actually works on Gray backgrounds quite often it was worth the effort.

Thank you for testing this on your tablet. Actually, the overall brightness was about 15-20%. But that was enough for a dark/dim room.

Oh, do you have any references for this?
Ouch. I can feel the pain of the couch event.
Well, my tablet came today from the tech support... They wiped the memory and cleaned some greasy fingerprint marks.
But they did not solve the problem. I guess they even tried to find out what was wrong.
I'm starting to be unhappy with Samsung...

No direct reference as it was a tech I was speaking with on the phone. Just ask specifically to be forwarded to support team. Then you will only be speaking with one service rep, and they will be in direct contact with the tech that handles your tablet. They can even ensure it goes to the repair center closest to you.
Well... I'm feeling like this story needs an end.
I actually send the tablet to the repair center and they changed the screen. The lady at the store were I purchased the tablet told me that the problem was a loose flex cable inside the tablet, but... Who really knows? The repair sheet doesn't mention that.
Anyway, the tablet is better now, but not 100%... It still shows a slight darkening towards a corner of the screen, barely noticeable under normal circumstances but that does indeed shows with test images. The good thing is that this is not a dark band anymore.
