So I'm trying to do the Wifi fix for moving over to digiblurROM MK4 Note2 Deodex - 2014.01.23.. I got everything set up but odin will not find the tar file for the wifi fix? I've looked all over this forum and none of the "I can't find tar file" threads seem to be working? I've moved the file into the directory that pops up. I've even deleted everything except the first letter to make it w.tar...wont find it. Am I missing something?

Un rar this file. Open ODIN 3.07. Click on PDA then it should find this .tar file. If you have any questions let me know.

I've noticed that the latest Odin/Heimdall tar file has for EI22 but only the EC05 modem (which requires you to do some more work to upgrade the modem to EI22). I started thinking about the other files that are used. Many users take a ROM (from a zip file) and modify the contents in order to save a bunch of time ferrying their apps/settings from ROM to ROM. So why can't we do that from the Odin/Heimdall level?
Is there any program/method for modifying/updated tar files or do we have to wait and be spoon-fed the image files by Samsung?
We do do that. Jzip or 7zip easily let's you swap out recover.bin or zimage.bin. There is no modem.bin for EI22 yet.

So say I just made a nandroid backup in ACS Recovery (or CWM 5, w/e). Could I take that backup file and insert in into a tar file that Odin would recognize, or is there some grand procedure that I need to follow to make that possible, or is it even possible?
If you DO know of a procedure to use, please steer me towards it.

That is a good question. I have opened the backup files and noticed they are in the same format and categories as Heimdall can use. I never tried it and not sure if anyone else has. I found this in the Droid forum, don't know if that info helps you are not.

After comparing this guide to some other Galaxy devices, it looks like the procedure is the same. The variance is that each of the guides extracts information from different sections of dev/block/
Anyone know where the information for factoryfs, zImage, recovery.bin, cache, dbdata, and data is located within dev/block/ ?
I've been stuck in a bootloop all morning and cwm and twrp wouldnt read my external sd card where my roms and backups were. I searched everywhere in this forum for an odin stock tar. I found one over at GT-N7100 developement section. I downloaded it removed the .md5 at the end and flashed it through odin. My phone is now back up and running. Here it is if anyone else needs it.

Did you have to remove the .md5 from it? Was it the actual shipping ROM or just a generic? Thinking about flashing back to stock and starting over with a fresh backup.
hmm where are the (About Device) screen shots after flashed.
Those are key to showing authenticity of tar
So I'm not sure what I did but to keep it simple I was trying to flash ROMs like I always do but while flashing it gave me an error. Now when I'm in recovery and try to even wipe or install a new rom, it keeps saying failed. something is wrong with /system. I can't flash anything on the device or restore my backup file to it because of the error.
I would like to ODIN back to stock because at this point I'm not sure what else to try. The problem is, I can't seem to find an ODIN link to download anywhere..I've tried about 6 links but none of them actually work.
I'm also on a time constraint (need to head to class). blah!
If anyone could help with either getting this thing working OR providing me with a copy of the .tar file to restore via Dropbox or something I'd be forever grateful.

I keep getting the following error when attempting to install Hyperdrive RLS12:
file_getprop: failed to stat "/tmp/aroma/kernel.prop": No such file or directory.
I have verified the MD5 hash of the file, even tried re-downloading the file (even though the hash matched) as well as switching from CWM to TWRP. The device will boot after I install the Rom and T-Mobile Compatibility pack, but I have no data service. What is going on?
Just want to note that I apparently have the Knox Pox if that has something to do with my issue... My Warranty bit is set to 0x01 (unfortunately I received an RMA replacement device and followed an old guide for flashing and set this bit to true).
Any help would be appreciated.
Similar to this issue (I am using the T-Mobile variant though)... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2594591
That is actually the updater - script not finding a file or a improperly named one. Md5 is just for DL purposes.
My suggestion is to either post this in Scotts thread or send him a PM.

I can give that a shot. I figured I would post here as I didn't see anyone with a similar problem in the thread.

They appeared to be. I went ahead and flashed another Rom instead of trying to troubleshoot what was going on. Needed to get my phone back up and running as soon as I could.
anyone having this trouble when attempting to install hyperdrive?

usually that would be the case, but that was the 5th time that file was downloaded and it was tested on the computer itself, so I don't think that would be a possibility anymore

If you can navigate through the zip file then chances are it's not a bad download. If you can't navigate through it via a file browser (ES, Solid, etc) then it definitely won't flash. If it's not bad, the only other thing I would say would be to try using a different recovery to flash it.

i have the file on my phone and i have used es file explorer to look into that .zip file, theres no problem with the zip file itself, but im guessing it was something with my phone, and i have tried two recovery option, TWRP and CWM and CWM touch

Only other thing I could find with it not being a bad download would be to try putting it on your internal storage and attempt to flash from there. Outside of that, I'm all tapped out. Hope you can get it figured out!

It's best to use the latest version of TWRP 2.6. Older versions "sometimes" have problems flashing 4.3 roms.

On that note, it may just be me but the newest version of TWRP (2.6.3.1) was giving me some pretty bad problems flashing stock TW 4.3 ROMs... i.e. baseband not showing up, Settings->About->Status would force-close, and I could not get any cell signal. That happened on Wicked, Hyperdrive, and WarpDrive. Couldn't restore backups of said ROMs either.. I mean, it would let me restore but I would hang at the S4 splash screen. I say it was TWRP because once I downgraded back to 2.6.3.0 my backups worked again and I no longer had the phone/signal problems in TW 4.3.
So in TWRP i wiped everything but my external sd card, now i'm getting an error :
E: Unable to mount '/data'
and occasionally E: Unable to mount '/cache' .
Tried searching forums but only got solutions for xperia phones but not for my Samsung note 2 - GT n7100.
So please help guys, kinda really need my phone!!
Also I have already tried re flashing rom etc etc, nothing worked so far. Read somewhere you can solve this with repartitioning with .pit file in odin, but can hardbrick you phone if not done right. SO please some suggestions as of what should i do.

Correct way to flash the PIT file is only if it is flashed together with the stock firmware. Firmware under PDA, pit file under PIT and re-partition checked.

Fortunately solved it now without having to use PIT file. Ty anyways.

Did nothing special with fixing it tbh. At first, before I posted this thread, I have already tried flashing stock rom through odin and it didn't work. Tried flashing some more so called fixes I found on the internet and tried a few different recoveries.
Well after a while I figured maybe another rom would work so I downloaded another stock note 2 rom from sammobile, which then fixed everything after I flashed through odin. So my guess is the stock rom which I tried before obviously wasn't working properly (can't remember which one it was sadly).
