Problem Installing Hyperdrive RLS12 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I keep getting the following error when attempting to install Hyperdrive RLS12:
file_getprop: failed to stat "/tmp/aroma/kernel.prop": No such file or directory.
I have verified the MD5 hash of the file, even tried re-downloading the file (even though the hash matched) as well as switching from CWM to TWRP. The device will boot after I install the Rom and T-Mobile Compatibility pack, but I have no data service. What is going on?
Just want to note that I apparently have the Knox Pox if that has something to do with my issue... My Warranty bit is set to 0x01 (unfortunately I received an RMA replacement device and followed an old guide for flashing and set this bit to true).
Any help would be appreciated.
Similar to this issue (I am using the T-Mobile variant though)... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2594591

That is actually the updater - script not finding a file or a improperly named one. Md5 is just for DL purposes.
My suggestion is to either post this in Scotts thread or send him a PM.

I can give that a shot. I figured I would post here as I didn't see anyone with a similar problem in the thread.

They appeared to be. I went ahead and flashed another Rom instead of trying to troubleshoot what was going on. Needed to get my phone back up and running as soon as I could.

usually that would be the case, but that was the 5th time that file was downloaded and it was tested on the computer itself, so I don't think that would be a possibility anymore

If you can navigate through the zip file then chances are it's not a bad download. If you can't navigate through it via a file browser (ES, Solid, etc) then it definitely won't flash. If it's not bad, the only other thing I would say would be to try using a different recovery to flash it.

Only other thing I could find with it not being a bad download would be to try putting it on your internal storage and attempt to flash from there. Outside of that, I'm all tapped out. Hope you can get it figured out!

It's best to use the latest version of TWRP 2.6. Older versions "sometimes" have problems flashing 4.3 roms.

On that note, it may just be me but the newest version of TWRP (2.6.3.1) was giving me some pretty bad problems flashing stock TW 4.3 ROMs... i.e. baseband not showing up, Settings->About->Status would force-close, and I could not get any cell signal. That happened on Wicked, Hyperdrive, and WarpDrive. Couldn't restore backups of said ROMs either.. I mean, it would let me restore but I would hang at the S4 splash screen. I say it was TWRP because once I downgraded back to 2.6.3.0 my backups worked again and I no longer had the phone/signal problems in TW 4.3.

[Q] SGS2, no rom.

So, my rooted SGS2 have no way of booting as of this moment.
I wanted to install Cyanogenmod (stable) and downloaded it via ROM manager. After that I got told to reboot into recovery and wipe data and cache. I did that and now when I goto update Cyanogenmod is not there. ROM manager had not downloaded it to the SDcard but somewhere else, which is now gone. I have no other ROMs on the SDcard either so I am quite bummed. When I try to reboot it just keeps rebooting. Is there anything I can do? (I didn't take any backups except apps with titanium)
Thanks.
If you have recovery mode, you can mount your phone as USB storage, and copy a ROM.
You can also copy the ROM to an sd-card, I guess? Never flashed with ROM manager.
OR! You flash one with Odin

Where can I find the official site for Odin?
Try this i think your problem is your selecting the "apply update from sdcard" option do not select this instead boot into recovery again and select "install zip from sdcard" then select "choose zip from sdcard" you will now have access to your sdcard just scroll down untill yoou see your Cyanogenmod zip and install it,hope that helped.

you cant install cm7 via odin, you can only flash samsung roms. Best to download an official rom and flash it via odin then start from scratch. But to be honest, if you havent been able to figure this out then maybe cm7 isnt the rom for you. No offense, just it can cause some issues if things arent done correctly, like whats happening now. I always thounght rom manager is to be used only when your actually on cm7.

Chill out bro, Im trying to help you here, i didnt want to cause offense, Im just saying that cm7 is quite tricky sometimes, also it pays to check all rom downloads before doing any kinds of wiping of the phone. Also having a Nandroid backup is always suggested.
As i said, Just trying to help you save your phone. And not get into this situation again, But Im sure youll figure it out.
On your SD card, go to clockworkmod folder, then download, then whatever it named cyanogen, then look in there. That is where ROM Manager downloads it.

Why don't you try Litening Rom? It is quite old but I think it will install via Odin. You should not have any problems with CSC as I think Litening Rom is multi-csc.
May I ask why you want to use CyanogenMod vs Samsung-based roms? CyanogenMod is not entirely stable and I think the camera app is not anywhere near as good. You will also have problems with FM Radio and MHL.

Why are you telling me things I already know?
First you need to "toogle signature verification" in settings and in this way turn it off.
After that you should find the update.zip in the Clockwordmod folder, and it should flash fine, and there's always USB mode

[Recovery] Flashable Ones!!! - CWM - TWRP - Stock

Here are the latest CWM and TWRP ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809307) recoveries are all flashable from recovery itself, use these to swap back and forth or just because you are bored...
These were/have been previously posted over in sprint apps section, but I keep seeing people posting questions about need this one or that...so here they are for T-Mo.
Thanks goes to the original developers for these, and for the sharing and caring..
TWRP 2.4.2.0 - http://d-h.st/iMc
TWRP 2.4.1.0 - http://d-h.st/9cL
CWM 6.0.2.3 - http://d-h.st/jbT
CWM Touch 6.0.2.3 - http://d-h.st/8A9
Stock ... http://d-h.st/TzP
I made my own months ago, I have tars in my sig and zips in my DropBox (which I've linked several times). You seem to have taken offense at my questions, when I clearly pointed out I didn't want you to interpret them that way. My questioning was merely a vain attempt to learn something new. Not to tear you down, but for me to become more knowledgeable about a subject from someone who clearly knows more about Android than I do.
So, is it safe to flash these?
I could of used you yesterday. I was literally scouring yesterday looking for a flashable recovery. Ended up using adb and Odin to flash something.. Thx for this post.

the CWM are for your phone. TWRP are for all GS III's...I would not have posted these here if they did not work. :victory:
OP updated with specific T-Mo builds so that md5 checks will alleviate anxieties...

I tested both CWM Touch and TWRP myself this morning (latest versions for both). d2spr recoveries (the ones originally posted) absolutely fail the d2tmo assert check (for any zip that includes it).
As of 2012-02-17, 10:50AM EST:
The CWM Touch link is good (it was edited since my last post). Did not test CWM non-touch. Not sure why anyone would use it.
The TWRP 2.4.1.0 link is bad. This is still the d2spr version. Safe to assume the older versions are as well.
Stock recovery link is also bad.
Do not flash recoveries that are not for the T999.

I posted them here to help others, and hope someone appreciates them .... Good day
I'm not sure how often stock recovery is updated, but that one is probably from UVALEM.
All checksums match, but assert codes still haven't been removed/fixed. So none of these will flash.

It could be the metadata file within the zip. It's still tagged as d2spr. That file isn't needed, and probably isn't even being read. What is the error saying? I just figured it was a status 7.
Yes, I believe it was status 7.

[Q] Can't get LiquidSmooth v2.5 OFFICIAL to load on my Sprint phone

It's either a bad download like evoer said, but more likely it's the firmware you're on. Starting with v2.5, you need to be on MD4 before you can flash the Rom. It'll fail otherwise.
The best way to get on MD4 is to go over the Freeza's Stock Rooted Rom thread and grab the MD4 Firmware update zip:
MD4 Firmware:
MD4 Firmware/modem/baseband update
MD5: EEEAFDBE59CF9C5B492B1A591EC92D02

The filename should be: Galaxy-S-fre3-MD4FirmwareModemAIO.zip
Just boot into recovery and flash this zip. Restart your phone and verify in Settings - about phone that the baseband ends with "MD4." Then reboot into recovery and flash LiquidSmooth like normal.
Let me know if you have any more problems.

[Q] Cannot flash anything

T989 without any SD card in it, the one I had died apparently new one on order. Went to flash the latest PA rom but kept getting error 7 using CWM. I updated my recovery to the latest TWRP and still will not flash. I tried updating to the newest radio UVMC6, but that wont flash. I am currently on CM10.1 nightly. My process for flashing is recovery, superwipe, flash, which is when the flash errors out and I re wipe and then I can flash my CM10 back on. So I can flash CM10 all day long but nothing else. I searched on here and found that the ATT version of this phone has this problem and you have to flash an AOKP and then flash whatever you want, other phones with similar problems say use ODIN and flash stock and then go from there. I am just looking for any advice on this situation. I could not find anything specific enough in my search to help me and I am hoping someone here can. Thanks in advance.
Note: I have also tried flashing CM10.1 RC5 and has the same problems.

For onw those superwipe scripts are not needed with twrp, u might be getting the error from that, are u trying to flash from internal SD card since ur external died? That might cause it but I don't think so, I would suggest trying a manual wipe of all partitions, data, system, cache, dalvik, 2x , then flash, if that doesn't work try using Odin, go back to stock and start over, that should fix it definetly

Any ideas on this?
Quick update... I am a moron... Did not realize that root is kept with this restore... Got Superuser from market and am good to go.

OK... the fun seems to have just begun
I cannot install TWRP from GooManager. No clue why, looking on here and I found //techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules (cant link too new of a member)
So as it seems I can download the .img and GooManager should see it and if that doesnt happen I can install it through the terminal with these commands
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
OR flash it with ODIN... Which I would assume I get the .tar file and follow the same process as putting the recovery files in?
Aside from TWRP being an issue, I tried installing the PA rom with CWM and I got this:
Installing update
set_perm:some changes failed
E:Error in /sdcard/pa_hercule...zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
The same error I had in the first place

I'm not sure what your overall problem is, but if you are going to install TWRP do not use Goo Manager or the img file. They have been messing up peoples phones. Odin the tar or try the zip from the TWRP thread.

If you can boot into TWRP, then they must have fixed the Goo problem.
It seems like you have tried most everything. Maybe you should Odin back to stock. If you are comfortable doing it, that is.
i went to flash with goo last night and it bricked the phone kind of, i had to ODIN and reflash the CWM again and bam the phone rebooted no problem

I did Odin back to stock before. I am still on stock gingerbread right now with root access and am getting the errors I have been. I followed the tutorials in the sticky thread that I posted before that got me back to stock.
Within TWRP I tried installing the newest Cyanogen Mod and got
E:Error executing updater binary in zip
Error flashing zip
When I try installing the PA rom I get the same error
Any thoughts? Would going back to stock through Odin and doing this again potentially fix it? or is that a shot in the dark?
Lucky for me I kept a backup saved on my PC from before I did anything here. So I am back to the CM 10.1 Nightly I started on for the time being.
Is there any other method of flashing a rom that I might be able to try?

It would be a shot in the dark. I did a Google search for your error and a couple of people said they were able to fix it by using TWRP 2.3. That was for different phones though. Maybe try that before going stock.
I am by no means a pro at this and am still learning as I go. Just to make sure of what I am doing, can I Odin TWRP 2.3? I also found this

or

Just a thought here... I keep gettin emmc errors... I was reading about upgrading and downgrading TWRP through the Terminal Emulator and it said use emmc or sdcard depending on what the phone reads it as.
When I first got the phone i recall seeing emmc when i would go into any file browser. Now it just says sdcard0 (internal) & sdcard1 (external)
So how can I get recovery to stop looking for emmc and start looking for sdcard0?
Unless I am way off in left field here with this.

Yes, use Odin and the 2.3.3.0 tar from the techerrata website. I like using the Odin method because I have never had a problem upgrading recovery that way. I don't know about the emmc errors because I have only used the dd method like twice.
Edit: Maybe your internal memory is corrupted? I'm not sure how to test for that though.
moebawlz said:
Well that could be a problem... I just got GooManager to do what I wanted it to do before I saw this message. If I overwrite it with the tar will that be ok or am I better off starting this process over and Odin back to factory stock again?
Along with that after I got TWRP working through Goo Manager again I tried flashing PA again and I had the same error as I did in the first place.
Maybe my phone just hates anything but the nightly I had before...

I think u must be getting bad DL then because none of that sounds right lol, if u got twrp to load into your device and all is working fine then the only other option is a bad DL, try checking the DL with a root browser or something to see the size of the file, status 7 errors are from the zip, usually bad install script in the ROM, which could be caused by a bad DL, check the DL size and let me know

went back to 2.3.3 and still having the same error.
Is there a way to correct any possible errors in my internal memory?

If the DL is good, I don't know what else to tell u that is very strange indeed, but interesting too, I've never not been able to install at all, I'm curious..

NOOB trying to flash ROM on AT&T GS3 get Error "no MD5 file"

I rooted my GS3, verified root. I am trying to flash ROM, every time I try through Goo manager and TWRP it fails I get error message "no MD5 file" doesn't matter if I download ROM from XDA (when I can find them) or download through Goo Manager. tried to even flash with ODIN, which only let's me restore to Stock ROM/Backup. which had MD5 file. when I try to browse for MD5 files I don't see them in the zipped or unzipped files on my PC, and not in ODIN either. I have verified developer options is on, and I tried with USB bugging on and off. and uncheck verify MD5 as well. I down loaded to pc and have tried to download directly to the device. not running antivirus on device and shut antivirus off on pc. will not copy files from pc to device. Device also stops or seems to loos connection on pc via USB Cable. What am I missing here? this is not rocket science!!
Have you verified MD5 of the ROM? Also, another suggestion, perhaps try to change recoveries from TWRP to CWM. However, you mentioned that you can't even download the Rom to your device? I assume you're able to browse the device's content since you used Odin to stock? Lastly, try to Odin back to stock, root it, flash recovery and give it a go.

Don't flash custom ROMs from goo manager or odin... Do your standard wipes, and flash from recovery. Maybe your recovery needs updated? What version are u on? You can verify md5 sums with a file explorer such as astro or there's even an md5 checker here in the forums. As far as transferring files from PC to phone, is your USB cable good?

I have tried CWM as well. for some reason none of the ROMS no matter where I download from seem to pull the MD5 file, liquid smooth, paranoid 3.69, carbon, none, I try to browse the device for them and nothing. But I can't seem to even do my first flash! I noticed in any of the ROMS I download for some reason it does not pull the MD5 file. I have downloaded from here XDA and other sites, and android forums too! I don't get it. This should be fairly easy according to all the research I have done even before my first attempt. I can root no problem, I used Odin and Samsung GS3 Tool kit.

I followed your suggestion using CWM 6.0.3.6. and yes it does seem to work better! I am almost there! I am able to flash custom ROMS. but the seem to get hung up upon reboot. USB cables brand new. I even tried different USB Port and Different PC. Still being a bugger! I wish I could find other ROMS more easily on here! or even a little easier on some of the developer sites. I found a work around and pull my ext. SD card and download ROM to that and not on the PC. I found some really Nice one I would like to try but like I said seems to hang on reboot like hour and I get tired of waiting. Thanks for your help! any other suggestions would be GREATLY Appreciated!

The Roms should not be that hard to find and as stated you NEED to verify the MD5 before installing. Thats the long weird numbers/letters in the download sceen. A bad flash is a headache. To double check, you are doing (in CWM or TWRP) wipe data, then wipe cache, then wipe dalvick right? If you dont do those things its a dirty flash and will cause issues. Then in CWM in the install from sdcard screen, try to toggle the signature verification option. Also, sometime when you go from CM to TW and back, it can be a problem. Try wiping/reset from the settings-backup and restore-factory reset option for a super clean wipe. Use caution though as this will delete internal sdcard so back it up and put the rom of choice on external SD. This is a hassle but needs to be done on occasion. If you use titanium backup, copy to folder to external sd and change restore location in preferences.
Something I just found.
I have flashed custom roms to my padfone2 and everything was fine but when I tried to flash zip file with stock rom it showed no md5 file error.
I had a look into the downloaded stock rom zip file and I found out that the actual zip file with rom in it was in a folder inside downloaded zip. As soon as I extracted the zip from downloaded zip and flashed it everything went without a problem. Maybe I'm just stupid not to have look at that in the first place but I hope it helped others. Best of luck everyone.
Good Afternoon sorry for bumping an old thread.
I joined today because I am having the same problem that the original poster had written about.
I have an ATT samsung galaxy s3, I had root access, and verified with super user. I also installed TWRP and CWM because each kept giving me errors when I tried to install CM 11 onto my phone. It also says there was no MD5 information found. I have used the md5 file checker program and the MD5 matches up to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518998
Download:
CM 11.0 Unofficial Beta 7 for d2tmo and d2att
MD5: ef93957db1e6704f23f9015231a82826
So the MD5 matches, yet when I try to install it keeps giving me errors. I also tried other versions of CM that I found on here via links. Right now my phone has no OS as another guide I read some where also said to wipe system data (sorry if that was stupid, I was just following a guideline)
So I'd like to get a working OS on my phone asap so I can get calls and texts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And being new I'm sorry if I broke any taboos or did not give some information that is typically given when describing a problem.
