OmniROM for ASUS MeMO Pad Smart (ME301T)
About OmniROM
See what OmniROM is all about: http://omnirom.org/about/
This ROM is created because there are people who use the Asus MeMO Pad Smart and would like to have a choice. I personally do not own an Asus MeMO Pad Smart, but since the device is pretty simular to the TF300T, i am building this ROM together with the TF300T.
What do you need
OmniROM is a custom ROM and to be able to install a custom ROM, you will need to unlock your bootloader. You can unlock your bootloader from the Asus website. Please be advised that you will loose your warranty.
To be able to install OmniROM you will need TWRP 2.8.x
You need to have TWRP or CWM installed
You will need a flashable GApps package
You need SuperSU if you want to have root access
See the Downloads part of this message for the needed packages
How to install
To install OmniROM please follow these instructions:
Boot into recovery and flash the TWRP 2.8.0.0 (or a higher version) ZIP
Reboot the tablet into the old ROM
Reboot into recovery again
Do a factory reset / full wipe
Flash the OmniROM zip file, the GApps ZIP file and SuperSU ZIP file
Reboot the tablet and enjoy OmniROM

What does this mean exactly? The device has internet and is connected via wifi. Browse and download just fine.

Unlock TF300T
This problem is widely discussed on several forums. Please Google it if you want to unlock your devise. A very helpful way, I think the only one, has been advised by @berndblb in 2015:
1. V8 does not install at all anymore. Keep your hands off. V7 will install if you allow "less secure apps" in your Google account settings. On the web - not your Google account on the tablet!
2. Delete the Google account from the tablet (Settings > Accounts), then run the tool again,
3. If that doesn't do it, do a factory reset from Settings, reboot and during the initial setup establish a WiFi connection but skip the google account setup, then run the tool.
This can be a 5 Minute operation that goes without a hitch or a very frustrating experience with lots of error messages. There is no definite rhyme or reason for this. For some people it works like a charm, for others it works after 15, 25 or 55 attempts, for some never....
To check finally if you are unlocked, boot the tablet and read the tiny script in the left corner above. It should say: “The device is unlocked”.

You are welcome! BTW using the thanks button is always a good manner.
What does it mean: "v7 = device not supported lol =" ?
As far as I know all tablets of the transformer family are supported for both unlock apps V7 and V8. So your device as well. You may go ahead as advised above. Then you will see what will be happen.

The greatest treat the ME301T users could EVER receive.
I'd be jealous of the ME301T owners if not for your slick TF300T version
Sounds great, gonna test it as soon as i find some free time. Cheers!

I have a question for the me301t users. I have created a workaround for flashing this rom with TF300T based recovery (CWM, TWRP). When a ROM gets flashed a check is being performed to see if the rom matches the device so the chance of flashing a wrong rom is minimal. But a recovery compiled for the TF300T will check if the rom is ment for the TF300T. This means that a ROM for the me301t will not be flashed because the check will fail (me301t does not equal TF300T).
The workaround adds TF300T to the check so it will not fail.
Part of the Omni build process is also building TWRP so I have a TWRP specific for the me301t. This version is exactly the same as the TF300T version with one exception and that is that the recovery will check for me301t instead if TF300T.
Using the me301t recovery has one disadvantage and that is that roms for the TF300T cannot be flashed anymore. So my question is do we need a separate recovery or use the TF300T one.

For now I will not post a separate recovery for the me301t. Perhaps when I am sure that both tf300t and me301t roms can be flashed with it.

If you want me to test it for you let me know.
Are you aware of the bugs yet?
As I love AOSP roms, I have already flashed this one. It appears that auto-rotation is not working yet. I do not have a logcat of this issue, as I do not know how to debug it for you. Checking sensors from Elixir 2 shows that most of the "motion" sensors do not give any feedback.
I have yet to check whether GPS works or not. With GPS test it seems like the devices sees some satellites.
EDIT: GPS is working
In the TF300T Omni Rom thread people keep referring to multi window but I'm not seeing any settings for it. Is this something that can only be done on the TF300T? I've also noticed auto rotate doesn't work and that there isn't a setting for that either.
Oh, and one other weird problem I'm having is with usb debugging. When I connect my tablet to my pc not all of the files are showing up on my sdcard. I can see them on the tablet with Root Explorer but not in my pc file manager. Do I need to reformat it coming from 4.3 to 4.4? Or is this just happening to me?
If you go to the recent list (the right button) you can press and hold an app in the list until you see a small menu. There you can select add to split view

Think i know why the sensors are not working. Proprietary file scripts were not working as it should. Try this build to see if the sensors are working

No, still not working. Oh and I found the auto-rotate settings, it's been moved to accessibility. If anyone else is wondering.
This might not have anything to do with it but just so you know, we were having the same issue with rotation for 4.3 roms on the me301t and nikybiasion and hardslog had to change the sensorservice file in /system/bin/

Nikybiasion said that the problem was that the sensors were being detected as mpu3050 when they are supposed to be mpu6050. Apparently THIS commit was what fixed the auto-rotation.

In addition to the auto rotate bug I have found that the digitizer gets less able to see the touches the longer the tab is running the digitizer is great on reboot but 30min later it barely reads my touches and gets very inaccurate.
Someone is so kind to list the problem of this rom. I don't hown the Tf300t (it's my father's) but if it's stable enough I'll install it

Omni is up to 4.4.2 correct? I'm in the process of building, at this moment, for d2att/tmo. Is multi window in the official build or does it still need to be pulled from the gerrit?

Does anyone know what happened with stock browser? It does not have incognito mode any more and bookmarks doesn't sync. Both are working on my phone with CM11.
External SD in NTFS is not recognized, but it can be mounted with Paragon in read mode for now.

NTFS is not included in OmniROM as far as I know. In 4.3 I ported it from CM10.2 but got lost when gerrit crashed.
On the gapps download page there is a zip that enables bookmark sync (I think).

I'm convinced that you will do it again over time. I'm surprised how much of Omni stuf is working at this moment. But you know there will be whining "I can't access my external sd od USB" so there I posted temp solution.
I'm using stripped gapps from CM11 thread so I guess that's why I didn't have bookmarks Sync. I didn't know it's in gapps, I have always thought it's in system.
Is there an unlock tool for the TF300?
Sent from my Kit Kat Nexus
There is an official one on the Asus homepage
It is an apk and you will loose your warranty...
Aosp browser is no longer supported by google for 4.4 so incognito and history don't work anymore and google will never fix it

I do not have a camera function tried downloading Google 4.4 app camera no go. Is this normal at this time or am I doing something wrong.

I have the camera and it is working.
My suggestion would be to reinstall but before you run the zip, wipe the system partition first. This will prevent any scripts from running and backing up gapps that should not be backed up.
You can format the system partition by selecting advanced wipe and select the system partition.

Welcome to CMB Roms- CM done Better... Dark Themed for his/her Pleasure
Why CMB?
We are just better , in a nutshell we set out to give you the best of CM, with none of the annoying features (see list below), all this wrapped in a custom black theme. We used the KISS principal when deciding what to offer, we based our frameworks on CM alone (not FrankenFrameworks like some others out there), enabling us to provide updates and bug fixes as soon as CM does. This doesn't mean we are only relying on them for development, it just eases merging.
Features
Based on Android 4.4.2_M2, CM11.0
All current features CM11.0
Customized Dark Holo Theme With Gray ActionBars
Dark Mms
Dark Calendar
Dark Contacts
Ramdisk security tweaks, you can adb as root now!
Bash "tab to complete"
Remount helper, in adb shell
Old
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /system
New
Code:
remount /system
Better Right??
We plan to add more features, suggestions are welcome (but sometimes ignored )

Just like the TF300TG, The team has no plans on doing this. If some one knows how to build and would like to join the team.. We would most likely be able to make this happen.. We just need someone willing to take up the challenge. Let me know if this is something for you.....

sorry for the inconvenience, forgot to do something with the zip, re-uploading now so anybody who downloaded v1, could you please re-download and re-flash (dirty flash will be fine), again apologies for the inconvenience
edit: Link is back up
Phone, data, messaging are working. Nice and smooth so far. Only issue is restoring with titanium backup. It has hung on certain apps. Updated SU and still does it. Haven't had that happen for a really long time. Otherwise its cool so far.
Edit: is there a way to force the play store to allow apps to download? PayPal and Great Clips online check in show incompatible.

Changelogs
As we're getting back into the thread game, keeping up with threads and updating them as per changelogs can be too hectic given our schedule. However, very detailed changelogs always go up on our Google+ page, follow us for constant updates!
For Device specific changelogs, check the second post.
Instructions & requirements
We highly recommend you to follow these instructions very carefully. Users usually tend to skip a few steps and eventually fall in trouble. Are you with me? Good. Let's get this train going.
Just a few things to keep in mind first -
If you're coming from another ROM / Stock, your system data (not internal storage) and cache will have to be wiped. This includes apps, accounts, messages, call logs etc.
There's been some users complaining about different GAPPS variants messing up installs and causing a ton of issues. Upon investigating it seems OpenGapps Mini/Nano work best.
Understand that Paranoid Android is a custom ROM and it might lead to addiction as it's relatively good. We shouldn't be accused of anything just incase your cat starts drinking wine. Things get a little woozy in the Paranoid World.
Some brain might be involved if things go wrong. Not a lot though, as much to solve what's 1+1.
Okay let's get to the main bit -
Once you have all the required files - boot into recovery and wipe the bananas out of your device. Get into the wipe menu and wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache (basically everything except Internal Storage).
Once wiped, get into the "Install from zip" menu and select the ROM zip. (pa_gemini_6.x...). Once added to the install queue, TWRP will ask you if you want to add more zips into the queue - Click on "add more zips" and select the firmware package.
Swipe the bar on the bottom to flash/install zips. Once both zips are done installing - Reboot into system and set-up your device, after you've let it settle with screen off for about 10 Minutes, do not do anything else! Please let your device settle with screen off for about 10 Minutes after the first boot, otherwise the system wont boot after a reboot!
Once you're done setting up your device - well that's when you're done. One thing though - Make sure you DO NOT INSTALL any other zip in the same queue as the ROM! Meaning, do not flash anything like Gapps, a kernel or a root package while installing the ROM. We recommend you do that AFTER you're done setting up your device.

SlimRoms is a custom android operating system. Our main goal is to offer users a slimmed down yet feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and you can stop by our public Gerrit to submit patches of any type.
Known Issues
- Camera problems per usual. (I may remove the stock cam next build)
- Let me know and I'll try to fix.
Notes
- TWRP and backups - While TWRP 3.0 will work fine on backups between 7.x ROMS if you are running 7.x and try to restore to a 6.x ROM it will fail to restore the data partition. If you have the need to do this you MUST use TWRP 2.8! (Thanks to Sunn76 for that info)
- No integrated root - use Magisk
I highly recommend a full backup before flashing this ROM.Again,I am not responsible if you lose any or all of your data!

Downloading, I wish youtube problem at 720p is resolved
Edit #1: The zoom in youtube videos continues, the "solution" I found is to see the video to the desired quality and when the error occurs, press the home button, open the multitasking and return to the video, this corrects the problem, in some Cases zoom back
PS: I speak Spanish, so I used the google translator

This issue I believe has been fixed by hennymcc. It should be fine in the next build.

Yeah, hennymcc just made a few commits to the device tree some hours ago that will hopefully solve the YouTube zoom problem.
And you're welcome. Please do post any findings you may have. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your great ROMs! I'll try this one right away because I always considered slim to be one of the smoothest, fastest ROMs out there. The only reason I didn't use it, is because there wasn't a Nougat version, but now there is! Thank you so much!
EDIT: After a few minutes of testing, I've found a few minor bugs. One of them is quite annoying, the other two can be ignored in my opinion.
1. When enabling and disabling the navigation bar multiple times in a row very quickly, SystemUI crashes. It happened by accident, but it was quite weird. (however it doesn't really matter because 'normal' people would never experience this)
2. When opening additional settings in the settings menu, SlimSettings crashes.
3. I'm not really sure if this is a bug, or if this is intentional, but the battery percentage in the status bar has changed into a tilde. So instead of 4%, the status bar now says 4~, which seems strange.

Yeah...
1. I don't really know, but like you said probably not something most will experience.
2. This is a known issue. It will be fixed ( probably removed) in the next build.
3. This is strange. I also don't know about this. I'll look into it though.
Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, the home button doesn't wake the device. I don't really think this is a bug. I personally do not like it. Although I know some will. It should be a fairly easy fix for the next build.

I tried installing the viper4android, but it asks me to install the drivers always, even with the nougat fix, I'm not sure that it could be failing, maybe another sound mod will work, with the ums enabler (mass storage) asks me to change the kernel to permissive , Which seems strange to me because the default comes like this, maybe that's why I can not install the viper4android
#edit 1:
I have a question, the next updates have OTA support or will it be necessary to flash manually?

I haven't messed with Viper4Android on any nougat ROMS, so I can't really help there, sorry. At some point I will though.
I may look into implementing OTA for this ROM. I'm not sure at this point. It just depends on a few things. Either way, for sure the next update will need to be manually flashed.

Thanks for the answers, actually OTA is not so important to me, what I need is youtube, but anyway thank you very much for all your work, in truth keep the device alive
I'm very happy to see a slim Version of Nougat for the g800f. I'll just have to wait till wake up via home button is working. This is a must for me.

Make sure you go to terminal and type: getenforce
If it said enforcing you have to type: setenforce 0
Then check with getenforce again and see if it says permissive now.

The battery percentage is a normal percentage again now. Maybe that's because I rebooted my phone yesterday but it seems to work now!
---------- Post added at 10:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ----------
Is there a way to turn off button illumination in Slim7 without installing a night mode app? In my opinion night mode apps have some disadvantages so I'd prefer a different way.

About the battery percentage 'bug': The status bar only shows a tilde (~) when the device is charging!
Danke für diese tolle Rom. Vielen, vielen Dank.
