Title says it all. Imei is unknown in settings, and when I type in the dialer code I get --/05 (-- meaning blank). All phone functions work fine though which is weird. I know now because I tried to get a replacement through T-Mobile and they said the imei had no recent activity on the account. Any ideas on how to get it back?

well **** me running. i flashed the new stock LJC odex rom and now my phone will not connect to the cell network. just sits at preparing services. like it doesnt recognize the radio or something. restored my backup and it still does it. ill be restoring to stock through ODIN in a few. anyone have any ideas wtf happened?
ohh and once it goes to sleep. it no longer wakes up
restoring to stock in ODIN didnt work either. it simply will not initialize the radio.
Did you try downloading the LJC odex Rom again? Maybe you had a bad download.

you may need to reactivate you phone. flash stock and give them a call.

Obviously, different thread, different rom but procedure might help.

yes, mine screens look the same as well. what was it that you flashed before this happened? i had sprint go ahead and ship me a new one for free since i;ve had it less than 2 weeks. so i am experimenting on mine at the moment.
hell, i cant even use adb because it doesnt recognize the phone or mount the internal or external sdcards. the only thing i can do is flash tar files in odin to the phone but the system still reads as "custom." going to try a few more things to see what's what.
Flashed to aljc then restored a nandroid and then it happened.

This is why u dont restore data from previous builds and roms. Its one of the easiest ways to f stuff up. Much better to just keep current backups of apps and data in the system not in nandroids. Its more pain in the ass but saves u crap like this. System data on nandroids isnt always compatible with newer builds. Plus its better to always start fresh anyway

what? you must be confused. i did not restore system and/or data app from the previous build into a new one. not even close. you must excuse my lack of super specific details in the above posts. the person i was talking to knew what i was doing.
im switching back to straight talk and found someone willing to trade their at&t note ll for my sprint note ll. i'm having a slight problem. i cant delete all my data and personal info off the phone. it still shows my phone number and name to the phone. i've done a complete factory reset. i dont get it. how can i completely delete everything off the phone? will rooting do this for me? how can i completely erase everything off the phone except the os?
your phone number and name are shown because the phone is still activated under your account... it's like a sim card until you deactivate it it will do that

There is something in a hidden menu I believe. Read the thread and search it for more info, you're not alone in the issue, been discussed many times.

if you have fixed the issue please share..also how do i check to see if the imei is broken
Look in Settings, About Device, Status.
Under IMEI it should show a string of numbers. If not, its gone.

i found the solution. there is a service called factory mode. i had frozen that app. after defrosting it. things started working as normal.
Hi, I'm new here and a novice flasher. I recently flashed HellKat 4.4.2 rom on my SGH-T989. Everything runs OK except for a few bugs.
I just noticed that whenever I tap "about phone" in system settings, there is no IMEI number. Gone. Does anyone know why? Is there a way that I can recover my IMEI number?
Thanks XDA
I don't have one either. Mine is a T Mobile and it doesn't seem to bother Telus. I had Hellybean when I noticed and flashed the stock ROM/radio but it never came back.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Probably just not reading it. Try typing *#06# in dialer - see if it shows
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
OK. It does show up on the dialer. So I guess it's not completely "gone", just doesn't appear on the "about" section. (I also flashed a jellybean radio before flashing rom. Don't know if that has anything to do with it)

Hi,
Please I also have similar problem with my phone. When I dial *#06# it shows "null/null". As a result, I am unable to get mobile network.

If restoring stock doesn't fix it... And you didn't back up the EFS partition, there's nothing you can do.
A service place can maybe restore it.
