will bravia engine work with this?
i was on 6.2.b.1.96 xs 4.1.2 rooted
then i took TA Backup.
now today i unlocked bootloader for the first tym (DRM keys preserverd in TA backup.)
now if i restore my TA backup while the bootloader unlocked, then will it restore drm keys and will bravia engine work?
m nt trying it because m afraid of bricking the phone.( just recovered from a soft brick yesterday). has anyone tried?
yes surely mate ...go ahead with restore....it will restore ur DRM keys and bravia engine will work as it was at the time of backup...
recommend to do this on stock firmware on which u had taken the TA backup....Hope this helps...

but dont it look weird, unlocked bootloader and drm keys working together? i didnt read anything like that on internet. can u quote any such link?
when u restore ur TA BACKUP it will restore ur DRM keys and bravia engine & ur BOOTLOADERS will get locked again....u have to unlock it again for custom kernel flashing...
so just flash stock firmware first on which u had taken TA backup and then restore it.... if you're using a custom kernel, you'll brick the phone.......so u must be on stock firmware first before restoration process...hope this helps...
Just to add since you just recovered from a soft brick.
If you restored your TA while using a custom kernel, you will hardbrick your phone which I believe is unrecoverable...

It has been confirmed that unlocking the bootloader will infect and damage TA partition of Xperia M and you will lose your DRM keys forever and loose warranty too..
So it is necessary to backup your TA partition before unlocking the bootloader. After that we can always restore the TA partition and get the warranty back.
For this purpose DevShaft has created a tool that will help you backup the TA partition. So give him a thanks for his awesome work.
For more info you can check out his thread his thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
How to??
1.Download Backup TA tool (https://github.com/DevShaft/Backup-TA/tags) thank to DevShaft after you download!!
2.Extract it and connect your device to pc normally
3.Double click and run Backup-TA.bat
4.Follow on screen procedure.
5.Do what you want backup or restore from it.
When you want to restore your TA partition make sure you are on stock kernel and rom to avoid further problems.
Good Luck
Note:Never restore TA partition from another similar or even a same model device cause it will hard brick yours.:good: Every device has its own TA partition!!!
There was another thread like this. Anyway we need to get a mod to pin either one.
This message was brought to you by my Sony Xperia M (C1905), using the XDA app.

Hi All
When I bought my XM the fw version was .17.
Before unlock booltloader i was made a backup on TA partition. Then i was made ftf file with my stock firmware but yesterday i lost it
My Q is ,if i flash another firmware version .17 ,then can i restore the TA partition and relock BL again,or this can be make only for FW from who i'm bakced up TA partition?
I may be wrong, but you can relock your bootloader in any firmware, but if isn't the same version from when you did the backup then your phone will stuck in a bootloop after relocking, but if this happens, just use Sony Update Service to restore the correct firmware and get the phone working again after relocking...
Mhm only must be on stock kernel, thats right? No matter the fw version(.17 or .8)?

Yes, I think
Today I successfully restored TA partition and relock BL without bootloop Thank you mbc07 You have BIG Thanks from me! :good:
Hi, I believe that I have returned my phone back to stock.
But I'm frankly not sure if the phone is still rooted, and if the boot loader has been relocked.
I did use the TA Backup program to restore my DRM keys.
Then I simply used Flashtool to flash the latest ROM .108 onto my Z1C.
Will my phone be accepted for warranty repair?

If you did this you are ok for warranty. No need to worry...
Thanks! I appreciate the reassurance.
so the TA isn't related to stock rom version? or in other words, it isn't important if you backed up the TA while running 757 rom, it's okay to restore TA and flash 108 for exanole?

just to be sure,.. restore TA on the version you made it from..
my 2 cents
So as the title reveals, I have unlocked the BL and tried a few custom roms. Didnt liked any so back to stock. But i just came to know that we loose bravia engine after we unlock the BL. But as I m on stock 4.1.2 I do see the bravia engine on/off toggle. Its quite confusing. Have i really lost bravia engine? Or it just gets restored when we flash stock roms?
Well If i have lost my BE, any way to restore it back? i mean will locking the BL do?
thanks!

Yes, You get the option for Bravia Engine after You flash the stock ROM or stock based ROM. Also, if You had not taken backup the TA partition before unlocking bootloader, then You cannot have the Bravia Engine back, even if You get the option for it. If You had taken backup, then it will work after restoring, and that too only on stock firmware.

TA backup are unique for each device, and using other people's TA backup would brick Your phone. You can try those mods, but taking a backup is recommended and trying these backups on stock or stock based ROM. I have not used them. so can't comment anything other than that.

why do u want to relock? do u have DRM KEYS/TA.IMG backed up somewhere in your pc ? to restore?
anways
with flashtool you can relock it and then unlock it again!
keep the original unlock key with you (just in case) or you can always ask sony for the keys

if the bootloader has been unlocked it can never be fully restored. you can never lock the bootloader the way sony did.
All you can do is to wipe and flash untouched stockrom and sell it
for flashing use flashtool / fastboot modes. you can do google for tutorial. its easy.
What about drm?

if you never took backup of your DRM then they are lost too! if you have taken backup then restore them manual. but whenever the buyer flash the device the keys will be lost too.
I have backed them up with TA backup

then relock your bootloader and sell it off. if the new owner don't change anything then the keys will stay intact.
however, if you could guide the new owner about it and email them the keys also , it will be fair deal
because you cannot use these keys on any other device.
Should I lock the bootloader first or restore TA first?
Anyone?
Answer: restoring TA automatically locks Bootloader.
But it needs root, so first restoring TA then flashing stock ROM with Flashtool.
