Regarding Knox bootloader - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Can the Knox bootloader create issues when flashing Roms such as cm 11 and such. I had weird issues than no one else has experienced I flashed cm11 and other asop Roms many times with the same issue I've just about accepted defeat.
The issue I've had is. While running any asop ROM, whenever I close all apps holding the home button it stops everything even the current app am using. After a while of inactivity it also closes all apps and resets to default setting even the settings that I have chosen are still checked. I have to uncheck and recheck the settings for it reapply.

This is why i started this Thread, So we can discuss Bugs in the latest versions. :highfive:
I heard AOKP JB is stll having SODs and RRs. Do u find anything like these?
Why do we say there are no more SOD or RR? are we just taking guesses? Haven't seen any changes that would be anywhere near relevant for fixing those.

First we have to fix our flashing methods and recoveries used. I for one haven't experienced one single RR or SoD since I started flashing official nightlies. People are probably causing these issues themselves to begin with. Expecting a fix for an issue that has no identifiable cause.. I wonder if any other phones outside the t989 forums are experiencing RR and SoDs with Jelly Bean..

running 10-10. I experienced one soft reboot after restoring apps and then running all of them (I don't blame my phone). no sod yet. i don't know if they fixed rr or sod completely but i believe they made an impact. I think people are making assumptions since the 4.1.2 update claimed "better performance and stability fixes" and the bbq log shows a lot of framework and system updates

We are not guessing. I said there are no SODs or RRs because I installed each update and i am pushing hard my device to get a RR. Also as i observed that there are no SODs. CM10 09-Oct Nightly is more stable than previous Nightlies. I know there are still some issues like as i stated above. We can find solutions for common problems but not major problems.

Great to hear that your running latest 10-Oct Nightly. A Simple advice to you & all other users, is to restore app without data if your are using any backup tools such as TitaniumBackup etc., Restore Apps with data cause Problems.

Sorry, I don't mean to crap on the thread but unless you can confidently say that SODs and RRs have been fixed (changelogs, yourself writing the code, etc.), going by your own experience shouldn't be the end-all-be-all to say whether something is fixed or not. Just like with call echo, some devices are worse than others.
I see that supposedly the issue with audio and docking has been addressed. However, the docking option is still grayed out for me when docked. Just looking for audio pass-through while docked...
Been running CM10 for the past few days and updating nightlies. My issues so far:
1. No sound with Alarms, just vibrating
2. I have been told by caller that I sounded weird using phone mic, but fine with headset
3. Had phone freeze once this morning on 10/9 with touch keys lit, but screen black, had to pull battery
I am now on 10/10 and plan on doing a clean install of it this afternoon, so I'm not sure how many of these issues with persist yet
SOD RR is not fixed for me, ran latest cm10 as well as aokp nightlies

1. There are issues with all of the volume settings. To fix your alarm volume open the clock settings, go to volumes and chnge the volume level. It should work. You can fix all volume settings with a simple toggle. 2. Make sure you have noise suppression enabled in call settings. 3. To avoid pulling the battery hold down the power for 10-15 seconds and it will reboot.
running 10-10 with TWRP and clean install (no tdj scripts). No rr/sod for 6 hrs so far. just a soft reboot after loading a ton of apps and running them all to push my phone to the max. No issues except the ones above and a tiny camera app issue thats already been reproduced (switching from camera mode--> video mode-->panorama-->camera will cause fc). I'm starting to think this is dd material. will let you know of any rr/sods.
I'm on recent CM10 Oct10 nightly and the BLN lights stay on, even with the Oct 7 nightly.
Update: fixed my own problems. This post helped: go to menu - systems - advanced settings - sensor and uncheck and check enable keys notifications and then send yourself a text or email. It actually should work out the box mine always has. Make sure you have notifications checked off in the apps like sms and gmail.
Also check display - notification light to make sure it enabled and you can add the apps you want to have the light enabled to work

So is that how we're saying we don't get random reboots anymore? We just call them something else??

well there was a difference in this reboot because my phone didnt actually fully shut off. the "cyanogenmod" boot animation came up and the phone was ready to go in about 20 seconds. there was no usual vibration indicating that the phone has shut off and no "samsung" boot image as a regular reboot would do. call it what you will

Run only One ROM. Do a clean reflash. We are not experiencing any SODs or RRs. Use only one ROM because Flashing different ROMs one after the Other will Make your device weak. The data left by the AOKP causes some errors to CM10. Thats why i said that don't restore the apps with data.

How do I diagnose random reboots for my Note 2?

For the past 4 days my Note 2 has randomly rebooted at least once a day. I wasn't using the device for most of the reboots and just noticed that it rebooted because of battery drops. I don't really know what could be the cause since I don't remember changing anything recently. Is there any way I can diagnose this without root?
How about just flash stock rom? If you dont have lots of apps which you've used, then it should take care of problem without needing titanium backup which needs root. Just save ur data using kies and flash stock rom from sammy.

I'm actually currently on stock and unrooted. I was just wondering if there were ways to find out what caused the reboot such as logs and such? Or if there was an app I could install to keep track of what causes a forced reboot?

You could download alogcat from the marketplace, its free and will save a log of what's going on with your phone.
It might help find out why its happening
for me it happens cause the power button is so easy to press while phone is in pocket.
keep it pressed for some seconds by accident and phone reboots. even if screen is locked.

If your rooted run a logcat and that will tell you what happened right before the reboot, reboots are usually a Kernel Panic meaning something caused a big enough problem that it couldn't be recovered and crashed the core of Androids software "The Kernel".
As others have noted flashing a stock rom ideally via ODIN and then testing your phone may let you know if you had bad software or a hardware issue. Custom roms can have bugs that will cause kernel panic a stock rom should be 100% fine and reboot free
I find mine will sometimes reboot after copying something to the clipboard.

I had reboots on my previous unrooted HTC EVO. The problem was an app. I was able to diagnose the problem by looking at my install/update log. Basically, I uninstalled all apps back to the date I knew it was stable and waited to verify it was stable. Then added back one app only and waited. Repeat. About a week later, I added an app that caused a reboot within hours. I uninstalled it and the phone remained stable.
Here's where I found a chronological listing. If you have multiple devices, it will show all apps for all devices (tablets, vizio, phones, etc)
Google Play> My Android Apps> at the bottom My Orders & Settings.
This gives you a cronilogical listing of app installs and updates.
Mine turned out to be a call recorder app that I had put on the phone 4 weeks previous.
Seems like a Samsung issue:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...-s3-crashing-when-copying-text-clipboard.html
I've got the same problem worth my note 2. At least I know I'm not alone.

Bad SD cards are also a notorious source for spontaneous reboots. If you have one inserted, it should be easy enough to retract it for a while to test it. ..
Note'd too from my N7100...
I'm also experiencing this issue. I'm using 4.1.1 Brazilian stock ROM here.
Even before flashing CWM (yesterday) I as going through this problem. Most times it happens when the screen is off.
Maybe changing the stock Kernel to a custom one would solve this?

S4 Chugs and Stutters After A Day. Must Reboot to Fix!

So, I have been having an issue where about after a day or two of my S4 kept on (no powering down or reboots) it starts to noticeably chug and slow down. I have experienced this issue on the stock TW ROM and the Google Experience ROM as well. I have tried to solve it by using apps such as Fast Reboot to free up RAM, but it does not seem to work. The only thing that solves it is a complete restart of my S4. I have seen a couple of other people mention this issue on other threads and I am wondering if anybody has pinned down the source of the problem and found a way to fix it or maybe there is an app out there that can automatically reboot my device once a day, so I don't have to do it manually.

You can configure Tasker (app) to auto restart your phone daily. If it were happening to me to, I would odin flash back to stock and re-root to see if it continues. Either way, good luck
Thanks, dude. Will try out Tasker. This even happened to me before I rooted, so I might just stick with Tasker for the time being.

For anyone else looking for an app that auto reboots you device there is an app actually called Auto Reboot and it automatically reboots your device once a day at a time that you designate. It requires root and is free.

[Q] Vibration Option Missing After ROM Upgrade

Hi guys,
So i upgraded my T989D from Koodo stock 4.1.2 to PAC-MAN v23.0.0 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332229 .
Everything was running fine for the first 2 days (besides having to set the governor to samsung, as default interactive would severely lag the phone). However, yesterday the phone froze and would not turn on properly (would get stuck on CM boot screen). Eventually after a few battery pulls it loaded up, but I cannot put the phone into vibrate mode. It goes from silent to sound and skips vibrate. All options within Settings > Sound relating to vibrate have disappeared. I tried rebooting multiple times with no success. Also tried searching google/xda but nothing similar popped up.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be highly appreciated!
Just make sure you have the kernel where it sits right with out lag so you can use the rom right also for the vib reboot the phone once ,twice its a known issue but should work

By kernel are you referring to the performance control? If yes, than I have already set the governor to "Samsung" and it does not lag at all.
I have restarted multiple times (it does freeze during boot quite often, requiring more restarts), but I can never get the vibration function back.
Try another ROM and see it it happens there

Ended up installing a new kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230064
Vibrate option is back. However the phone still gets stuck on the boot screen. Have to do multiple battery pulls before it loads up properly.

Systemui keeps crashing on aosp roms

Hi!
Every AOSP rom I flash keeps having systemui crashes! I'm not sure about Sammy roms but I'll try tonight. Thing is I'm not a fan of stock roms and want to use aosp roms.
So I get this systemui has stopped dialog, if I click OK, it reappears. Often when I get the first crash message, it locks my screen, if I unlock it I get the message and the same happens.
The work around is simply turning off the screen and it should work again. However it's really irritating. It's weird because it happens on all aosp roms. I have factory reset(ted?) many times and it happens even if I have zero apps installed.
Thanks!
