Can I get an opinion on a good very slim case... Basically something that covers back and sides.

so far i like it....especially for ~$3 shipped. just takes a while to get here.
You have several choices if you glance over this forum. Ones that come to mind (to help you with your search in this thread) are ringke slim, spigen ultra fit slim, bear motion slim, and a couple of other slim knock offs on eBay. I think the ringke is the best option. It's very grippy, feels identical to the naked N5 back side
Nexus5
I'm a fan of the Nillkin. It's extremely slim, the grip is beautiful, and the material won't scratch the phone. Easily my favorite of the shell cases.
Available on Amazon!
I would recommend quicksand cases. Cheap but awesome

Just do a search in the forum dude. This question has been answered tons of times! Look over a bunch (all of the reviews have pics) and take your pick.
Here's a bunch of reviews I did of hardcases from ebay. Ton of pics. (I recommend the Quicksand cases, or Semi Transparent if you have a White Nexus 5)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577289
Bear Motion Sand Cases (don't bother, it's just a quicksand case like mine above with Bear Motion stamped on it. You can see comparisons in the thread).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2570183
Spigen Ultra Fit (Many recommend it, a good case, known to scratch corners if you're not careful because of how rigid it is).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513645
Ringke Slim (I have it, like it a lot. Thinner than the Spigen. Switch between it and my quicksand cases often, a good case, known to scratch corners if you're not careful because of how tight/rigid it is).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507313
Nillkin Nexus 5 case (No experience with this one, but people here really like it).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518646
amCase ultra slim (People really like it, nice fit, but may peel the finish easily).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2596427
0.33mm Thin TPU case (Hit or miss, some really like it, others have had problems, ridiculously thin though).

I agree that there's enough of these threads that a search will find easy answers now (like all of the ones I listed above, were found with searching "slim" or "thin").
Also, why even bother mentioning where it's from? If the case is good, who cares where it comes from. Everything is pretty much manufactured and shipped from somewhere in S.E Asia anyway. Have a look here to compare the Bear Motion Slim to standard Quicksand. The same goes for their Semi Transparent Polycarbonate.
The main difference, is if you go with ebay or alibaba etc, you skip the middle men/paint/branding/retailer markups, ordering usually direct from factory seller. So what's essentially $20 from a retailer, you can get for $0.99 - $2.00. The only drawback, is it takes about 3 weeks to arrive.

No worries, I wasn't offended by it. It always just seems to be a blanket assumption/insult thrown around a lot here though. Mostly based off misunderstanding/unfamiliarity of how manufacturing and distribution works.
Most people don't realize that the case they're holding in their hand, from some big name company is the exact same product made from the same "cheap Chinese factory." The only difference being that these knockoffs, are the exact same product before Branding/Marketing/Retailer Distribution/Cost Markups are attached to it. The prestige of a brand name make people think that these cheaper versions from China are inferior, when in fact they are the same thing, from the same place, minus a company logo, just sold to you directly. Now I'm not saying that's how it is 100% of the time, but the majority of the time, if something is manufactured in China, that is the case.
I feel bad more so for the Chinese people that frequent xda, or in general. That their ethnicity is used so easily and frequently as an insult for low quality.

I understand and can relate
Related
So.. I have tried my very best to search if anyone is talking about this in any other thread but can't find nothing on it.
I have the Nexus 4 version of the case and it has done me very well! Although about 10 days ago I broke it cause I always pop it on and off while bored.
The only other case that can compete with this (slimness wise) is the Slim SPIGEN Case.
I don't understand how there isnt a thread on this case nor is there any discussion on it! What gives?
What's your opinions on it? Which one would you choose out the two?
$5.99 RINGKE: http://www.amazon.com/RELEASE-PERFE...qid=1383319011&sr=1-2&keywords=ringke+nexus+5
$ 9.99 SPIGEN: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EV8Y50S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Personally I'm going towards the Ringke case... its cheaper, thinner and looks a little better.
Maybe I'll be swayed towards the Spegen case from you guys!
EDIT/ UPDATE-
Finally got both cases and two phones to compare the two side by side.
After using both of them for a little bit I have decided the Ringke is the better case.
Reasons: Slimmer, covers the phone more, does not have an air gap on the back (you can press the SPIGEN on the back and it will move)
I had to sand both of them down to get rid of the ruff parts.
These super thin cases are way less popular (especially with the younger crowd) than the flashy "hybrid-like" cases that offer more protection and bling. This was the case with the GS4 as well (take a look at those forums).
I personally love the uber thin cases that offer only scratch resistance (and maybe a little drop-proof-ability) but are like having nothing on the phone and not adding to it's bulk. I have the Ringke slim for my GS4 and on the delivery truck a Ringke slim in transit for my N5.
I was very disappointed with the Spigen neo-hybrid for the GS4 and sold it immediately.
The Ringke slim on the other hand is super solid and more professional looking (if you want to call it that ).
I'm sure the Spigen Ultra Fit (Slim) would be very comparable to the Ringke, it looks almost identical in pics and specs
Glad someone brought this up too. I was looking at these two as well and this is something funny i noticed.
the size comparisons between the two are not consistent. SPIGEN reports a .3mm thicker phone but otherwise its the same size.
I'm leaning toward the RINGKE as well. cheaper if i ordered two of those with shipping than to order 2 of the Spigen and get something else for 1.02$ to hit the free shipping mark at 25.

Why exactly were you disappointed with the Neo Hybrid for S4? I had my eyes on the Champagne Gold Neo Hybrid for N5.
I'm personally not a fan of the Slim series as it doesn't offer protection for the top and bottom of the device. Whereas, the Galaxy Nexus Slim it covered the whole phone 360 and kept its slim factor.

I totally understand about the protection the slim series cases don't offer. It's all about preference indeed.
That said, I didn't like the neo-hybrid because it felt like a gimmick (if that makes sense). In other words it felt and looked like they made a case to just look "cool" rather than making a case to form fit a phone. It does offer more protection than the slim fit cases though. It was also too "square" looking for me once on the phone. Made the GS4 look iPhone-ish to my eyes.
Funny thing though....I sold it to my 17 yr old nephew (well it was free but he paid shipping) and he thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. :good:

I like the slimness but the top/bottom exposed is a no-no for me. I really wonder why they decided to go with that design. This is the Galaxy Nexus Slim I was referring to http://www.rearthusa.com/sprint_verizon_galaxy_nexus_slim.html slim factor and top/bottom protected.
Hmm, I guess that is true with the Champagne Gold. I just like the mixture between the two colors. So more or less its just aesthetics/appearances on your part but nothing of the case. I was just reading that the older versions of it have had peoples' outer part of the case to crack. Which was the same case for me when I had the official LG bumper for N4 so that was definitely worrisome.
Haha, I think its a pretty neat case too. Looks nice.

Yup, ya never know when the N5 might take a tumble to the pavement and land on the top/bottom or the screen (ouch)!
Oh I think the neo-hybrid looks great in a picture that's why I ordered it. On my GS4 was a different story. The plastic piece on mine felt like it would break very easily, but I don't know which version I had.
Go for it get what ya want. You can always return it and they're so cheap nowadays you don't really miss out on much by doing so

They're so cheap that its not even worth sending it back with the shipping fee.. plus I'm lazy Neo Hybrid is actually ~$19.99 as of right now.
Can't wait for the accessory party to finally begin and a bunch of nexus 5 videos of accessory unboxing/reviews to appear. It will make our jobs a lot easier.
Its kind of funny seeing Rearth and Spigen practically offer the same case and design and names. Slim/Hybrid, what is up with that anyway?

Only problem I have with these cases is that when I always use one I notice that they tend to scratch your phone with the way they snap on.

I thought about that too when I first ordered the Ringke slim. To my delight there is not one scratch on my GS4 (had since launch) caused from the case and I've taken it on and off over a dozen times.
Edit: I will say however, that the case is tough to get off! It's snaps on easily and extremely secure
I like to wash them every week
Yeah I had one on my N4 and went to take it off (like to get the lint off every once and a while) and it scuffed one of the corners. Most people wouldn't notice but it threw my ocd into over drive aft err that lol.

Yeah exactly why I stopped using cases. I never liked cases, prefer naked. But got the slim ringke for my gnex a couple years ago. Loved the slimness but ended up scratching my phone.
I pop my case on and off all the time and it has never scratched my N4. Maybe its just the N4 that doesn't scratch.
The reason I like these slim cases is because it does add much bulk and it keeps the design of the phone some what. I'm the kind of person that has never dropped their phone on a hard surface. Worst surface iv dropped it on is carpet which was from my lap.
I'm thinking of buying both now cause I can't make my mind up at all!

Really like the s4 case but certainly not for someone that drops their phone all the time.

just ordered the spigen ultra fit soft matte white for my black nexus 5
i hate cases. so much attention and value is dedicated to the aesthetics and build quality of a phone only to be covered up by an uglier case. my gf has an iphone, a really beautiful phone, and she covers it up with the most hideous otterbox. in her case it is warranted because she is a clutz, but it bothers me every time i see it. i liken it to buying a really nice sports car and then covering it up in foam to drive around.
BUT... i've had my current phone for 1.5 years and i remember the feeling when i dropped it the first day i bought it... it felt bad. only a small scratch but i swear i stared at that scratch and rubbed my finger over it so many times the first week in regret. hopefully this case will be minimal enough and good feeling enough so that i will keep it on my phone. but i'm predicting i'll keep it on for about 2 weeks before i decide i just want my phone beautiful and nude.
why spigen over ringke? well first off i wanted matte and second off ringke advertises "world's thinnest case" and then proves it with a picture of a nexus 5 with the wrong thickness measurement. so i had to dock them for semi false advertising.
the spigen and ringke were both $10 for me with shipping and handling included.
Has anyone bought a Ringke Slim case from Rearth and actually recieved their Nexus 5 yet?
How does it fit? Any comments/reviews would be fun to hear. I'm still waiting for both to arrive.
Has anyone got one? They look nice and get good reviews on Amazon but would be good if someone who has one could post some pics of the real thing. I have the Spigen ultra hybrid which looks great but adds a lot of bulk to the phone and doesn't feel so great. I also have a cheapo tpu case which actually feels great but the finish is a bit poor and its a little saggy.

I don't have one, nor any experience with the maker, but they do look on the thicker side for TPU cases.
Now it's working... how so?
Yeah it seems like on the thicker side.
Got one of these today and really love it! Fantastic case.
"TPU" and "Ultra Slim" should never be uttered in the same sentence unless that sentence is "Nothing about TPU is ultra slim by any stretch of the imagination."
stahp.
Great case! Fits the phone perfectly without room for it to slide up and down inside the case. Buttons are not too hard to press but a little more difficult. All ports are accessible. The speaker grill cut out isn't perfectly put, but is just fine.

Got it the other day - nice case fist really well with no saggyness, I have ditched my spigen ultra hybrid for this as that whilst looking cool was too bulky.
This is a mediocre case at best. It's slim, but has the sticky feel of glossy TPU, which I hate. The design on the back may or may not appeal to you -- I found it repulsive. Overall, with this case, you get what you pay for. I personally think it ruins the aesthetics of the Nexus 5.

If the back is so repulsive why on earth did you buy it in the first place? It was quite evident in the pictures and listings that it was glossy tpu and the back was the way it is. Surely one of the main reasons people buy this case is because they like the design on the back. The case is cheap but alot better quality than other tpu cases ( of which I have bought 2) of a similar price and ruins the aesthetics no more than any other case, compared to other cases I have bought including the spigen it follows the contours of the phone well.

Do you honestly think I would have bought it if I had known that I didn't like the back design? It looked great in the photo, but not when I had it in my hands.
Hi XDA,
Time for another case review, again from the good people over at Noreve. The company, based in France, is well known for making extremely high quality, genuine leather cases for mobile devices and tablets. In total, this is my 8th Noreve case - that should be a testament of the quality and how much I love these cases.
As always, Noreve does an impeccable job with packaging.
As an extra bonus, you get a soft carrying case for your case as well.
Upon opening the box, you are greeted with that addictive leather smell. It's weird to be smelling your phone all the time, but the case just smells that good. There is nothing quite like high quality, genuine leather.
The case is very solid and feels great in the hand. This model is from the Ambition series, and it seems to be even softer than their standard
Perpetuelle series. Very comfortable to hold, won't slip easily, and even if it does, you're well protected in every way.
Here is the case with a look from the front. Note that you have a cutout for the indicator LED, and also the metal speaker grille. I personally love the metal speaker grille.
Note that they have left enough of a cut out for the microphone and speaker on the bottom of the device.
A shot with the case open.
As you can see from the side views, they is ample room for the volume rocker and power button. Everything is as it should be.
And finally, a shot of the back of the case, revealing the cut out for the camera, which is perfect. This is a model without a belt clip, which is personal preference. If you would like a belt clip installed, then Noreve provides both a choice of metal and/or plastic and no extra charge. Very thoughtful of them.
The only gripe I would have with this case is that the magnet is not quite strong enough. Perhaps it's only the model I reviewed here, but when you fold the front part of the case backwards (when writing a text for example) it has a tendency to flap around a bit, rather than being locked in place by the magnet. Still, not really a big deal, as your hands are usually gripping the phone from behind anyway while using the device.
Overall I would say that this is another fantastic case from Noreve. Haven't really come across a bad one so far, the genuine leather and protective qualities are always a winner with me. And there's just something about it being hand made in France. In this day and age, where almost everything of this sort is made in China from cheap materials, I really do applaud Noreve for sticking to the tradition of hand crafting leather goods. They also offer a staggering array of finishes and colors for your case, pretty much whatever you can think of, they have to offer.
Here is a link to the Nexus 5 product page.
Cheers!
You wrote an entire review without mentioning the price?

If anyone has ever looked at premium leather cases like Noreve then you know how much these cases are. I am a fan of them, even though they really screwed up my order for my Nexus 4 lol. But growing pains of a small company.
These cases remind me of the old Vaja iVolution cases I had for my Sony Clie NX70 lol. I actually came across my old pda in my desk the other day. I was tempted to power it up lol. In any case, great review and I hope they improved in estimating the time frame to get the cases done. I waited 3 months without a word for my Nexus 4 until I told them to cancel my order. Not sure what happened, but that was my personal experience with them the first go around. I may go and try again, dunno. Depends if I feel like waiting a month for a case because of the hand crafting .
No offense of course to the OP, but is it me or does this case not look very appealing. I understand it is high quality and everything but especially for the 50 euros they're asking for I don't think it looks that great. It just looks kind of "mushy" to me. I also find it weird that it opens vertically.

None taken. People have different tastes when it comes to cases, this is just a good option which offers high quality leather.

That is very strange, I think you may have just had some bad luck. All of my orders have arrived within a week, except the Nexus 7 case I have from them, which was custom made. That arrived in 3 weeks.
I would give them another try because if you like leather, you will love the fit and finish of these cases. And long time no see! I remember you from the Nexus 7 sub-forums, but I have been absent for quite a while.

That is very strange, I think you may have just had some bad luck. All of my orders have arrived within a week, except the Nexus 7 case I have from them, which was custom made. That arrived in 3 weeks.

I thought your nick sounded familiar lol. Yes, still sporting the OG N7 as well. I may go about it and order again later. I am cased out for a spell lol.

I provided a link, did I not? Instead of writing that sentence, which took you 56 keystrokes and 2 clicks, you could have just clicked on the link.
People who can read can click on the link to the product page to find out the price is starting at 50€.
Looks like the bump in the flap is a magnet to unlock the phone when opening the case?

Same, still have my 1st gen N7. Didn't see the need to upgrade to the second one as this still serves me well. I say go for the case, it was probably just some bad luck you had. Mine usually doesn't leave my house but I still always have the case on, it's just sexy damn it.

That would be correct good sir.
It seems to me that the selection of cases for the Nextbit Robin is pretty poor so far and as far as I know, many known manufacturers are not planning to make cases for this device. Are you planning to buy a case? what case are you going to get?
Update
As far as I can see, so far there is still almost no selection of cases, however there are few screen protectors.
My favorite option so far is the following:
Amazon.com: Anti-Bubble High Definition Clear Shield by Dmax
There is so few options to go with.
Well, we have 3 different options, and different colors for the bumps case. Maybe they're not a lot comparing to other phones/companies, but I think we should just wait till 3rd party companies make more cases for Robin, it's a bit soon to see them out
Yeah, I'm still waiting if anyone have some new cases they noticed please share
Well the phone isn't released yet! And its a startup! So more should arrive soon!

You are right. This is completely different from the devices that are currently out so it is very exciting. but we have to be patient.

What kind of cases are you looking for? I personally love the bumps cases. Like are you looking for something similar to a flip case? Leather? I'd love to see what else others like.
Not cases, but skins are confirmed by dbrand, they have said they'll have them before the device releases!

Really stoked that we'll be working with dbrand on some Robin skins! Can't wait to see how they'll turn out.

Yeah, I went with that one on Ebay.
Kind of surprised that there aren't any on Amazon.
I know they aren't cases but the dbrand skins look bloody awesome.
I ordered the scratches case because I really despise cases, but I also really want my Robin to stay in pristine condition. It is very small and clear, so it should do fine for me. As for all the people that want their phone put in a tank, I can see your side of the argument, and in that case, I have to agree that they don't have a very good selection.

I bought this Fosmon case in clear. It's a little tight, so the middle sections of each side pulls outward a little. Cutout for the cloud sync logo on the back seems unnecessary, but most likely put in for the opaque color options. You can lay the phone face down and it won't scratch the screen.
My main gripe with the Robin was that it's very slippery -- even though it was touted as being a non-slippery phone -- but this case fixes that problem.
The imperfect fit makes it hard to wholeheartedly recommend, but it adds the much needed grip to the phone so I'm pleased for the low price I paid for it.

Yeah I got the clear (cause I got the sick Electric model) and this one is also tight I only hope that since it is plastic it will mold to the device in time. like some of the other cases I've had of this material before.

Bad choice I got mine together with my Robin and the Scratches case is really poor quality. Some parts of the plastic especially at the charger end of it, are so thin that they tear apart when case is removed a couple of times.
Hope nexbit will fix this at some stage, but not that disappointed at all as I just love the phone itself
I got some weak, POS pocket case off Amazon that doesn't really fit my phone, but I've little choice but to use it until I can get something better. I'm a little tempted by the Bruises, but the case on Nextbit's website looks different from the one on Amazon, with the one on Nextbit's website looking like it has little strawberry-like dimples that the Amazon one doesn't have on the back Even more confusingly, the Amazon Bruises case has the Nextbit logo, but the Nextbit one doesn't.
Alternatively, I've been considering either Fosmon case or one of the Orzly cases, but I don't want to waste my time and money on another crappy case.
ETA: Here's a link to Amazon's Bruises cases by the way. It looks a bit what I would imagine a Midnight Scratches case would look like.
If anyone wants to sell their Scratches case, I can buy.

Got my midnight wrapped in a Bruises case I picked up off Amazon. It's perfect.
Waterproof case
Hey guys!
I can't find any waterproof cases specifically for our phone (only generic flexible cases). Can anyone give me a link to a non-universal case? Thanks in advance. Also people, who have the dbrand bamboo case, can anyone confirm it feels like wood (just wanna know before purchase ) Thanks, and have a great day.
Well, it would seem I have finally broken my quicksand case. I tried a couple of the cases that are still available on Amazon and I can't stand them. I can't find a quicksand case for sale for my Nexus 5 anywhere, barring a couple of really bad colors (baby blue and hot pink.) Has anybody seen any online?
Have you already tried the Diztronic case? https://www.amazon.com/LG-Nexus-Case-Diztronic-Flexible/dp/B00FZ14E3S
I wish it was available in colors other than black, but it's the best case I've found as far as usability goes.
I haven't tried that one in particular, but had another tpu case like it. They are better than the quicksand for protection but, in my opinion, don't look or feel as nice as the hard quicksand cases. The quicksand case also allows easy access the far edges of the screen, something I had an issue with other tpu cases. I may end up trying it though as it seems these cases are no longer being made. I appreciate the suggestion
Don't know if it's available in the US - but this one is really great, adding nearly no bulk: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00GID6JA8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Love it.

That is the exact case I was talking about. It is the only time I've ever had a case that improved on the look and feel of the phone. Unfortunately that one shows unavailable, but I did find one on Amazon that was from a "third-party seller." I had to pay $17 for it, but it was worth it to me. A shame they are so hard to come by now, I will have to be careful not to break this one.
You can find really cheap ones on Aliexpress. I got one in like February 2015 as a gift and it took like more than a year for me to wear it out. They are sturdy and grip really well and they look really beautiful. I had a black one and my friend were always impressed as f. when they saw it. I don't know if I should put a direct link here, but just go to Aliexpress and search "nexus 5 quicksand" and it should pop up as first with most orders.
I bought a Spigen case five years ago and the phone is practically new. It is more expensive and fat than the other cases but worth it. Trust me.
