Hello All,
I spend two days trying to connect my note 2 with my laptop via usb debugging mode. Unfortunately i always get information (after execute 'adb kill-server, adb start-server, adb devices') that my phone is unauthorized.
I read few articles with info that usb 3.0 doesn't work with usb debugging mode and more info that it is working fine... Now don't know where is the truth.
My laptop has only 3x USB 3.0. I connected my note 2 to my gf's laptop via USB 2.0 and everything was fine. Then I connected her galaxy s mini to my laptop via usb 3.0 and debugging mode and everything was fine too... I get rsa fingerprint popup which i didn't get on my note 2 via usb 3.0.
I have windows 7 x64, all newest drivers (samsung usb driver, adb, sdk etc) and on my note 2 i have Adnroid 4.3 JB.
Does anyone had this issue?
Regards.

Hi all,
I just bought a Galaxy Nexus and I'm having problems with the ADB port: my Lenovo w520 laptop running win7x64 simply does not detect the ADB device in device manager. I tried connecting the phone to my wife's laptop (HP running win7x64) and the ADB device is detected so it is not a problem of the phone or the cable. On my pc I only get the Galaxy Nexus MTP device and that is all.
It is not a matter of driver, there is simply no device detected hence it is not possible to send ADB command.
I do not know if it is related, but samsung USB mobile driver fails during installation without giving a valid reason.
anyone having similar problem ?
thanks
cheerts
So... how do you know its not a driver issue? Sounds like one to me. Have you tried manually installing other drivers?
Well, what is actually strange is that:
1) if I connect the phone to my wife laptop with USB debugging ON and no driver installed (it's HER pc, I cannot install my stuff), a composite device with two devices (MTP and ADB) is detected.
2) in fastboot mode, my laptop detects the ADB port and install proper drivers; using Galaxy Nexus toolkit, I can successfully list my device.
When the phone is fully booted, my laptop simply see only the MTP device. If it were just a matter of driver i would simply get an Unknown device in win7 device manager...
thanks
cheers

Eh. Fastboot is all you need.

After several attempts (including installing win7 x64 in a virtual machine ...) I finally solved my problem: it was indeed a driver issue, my win7 did not automatically searched for proper driver (and the Samsung driver is available on-line in windows update). I forced a driver update for the MTP device so that windows downloaded Samsung driver and now both the phone and ADB port are detected and working. It is still a mystery why the driver provided by various tool-kit failed to install, but nonetheless the GNex is now fully set-up.
Actually the solution is so dumb that I feel a bit ashamed of myself...
thank
bye
Hey guys i recently got a new pc with windows 8.1 and it doesnt recognize my gnex. whenever i connect it (i tried various combinations of mtp,ptp and usb debugging on and off) it says usb device has malfunctioned. same thing happens in bootloader mode. if i go to device manager i cannot see it under either portable devices or adb interface (the option is not present) i just see a yellow exclamation mark under "usb controllers> unknown usb device(port reset failed)". I have also tried all usb ports both usb 2.0 and 3.0.
anyone have the same problem? the phone works perfectly with the same cable in my other laptop with win7
I solved the issue. It seems that my USB cable was the problem. I changed it and it installed fine. I didn't think of it at first as the same cable works perfectly fine with win 7.

I always have the problem that I can connect to my phone, but sometimes when I try to open a folder, it keeps loading and won't open the folder. Don't think that's an USB problem too, but I'll try...
What is needed to connect the Tab Pro 12.2 to Windows 7 via USB? When I attempt to connect Windows doesn't recognize that a device is plugged in at all. I can't find a setting anywhere on the tablet to enable USB connection.
Things to know:
I've installed Kies 3 on the computer but it doesn't recognize the tablet being plugged in either.
I've installed the Samsung USB driver.
I've successfully connected the Tab Pro when in download mode since I was able to root it.
USB debugging is turned on (also tried it with debugging turned off).
Android 4.4.2, build number KOT49H.T900UEUAND4 (rooted)
What am I missing?
Unplug the tablet from your pc. In Kies 3, under Tools, reinstall usb drivers. Reboot pc. Connect the tablet to usb. See if that gets it working.

Thanks for the suggestion. Still no joy. It's like there's no MTP driver or something. When I plug it in to the USB port the tablet recognizes it as it "dings" and tries to charge (it can't because the USB port doesn't supply enough current). However, the pc never makes a sound and doesn't recognize any thing's been plugged in.
Is there some setting I'm missing on the tablet?

I doubt it's the tablet. Probably a driver issue with windows. Try a different cable (usb 2.0 or 3.0) and usb port on the pc

I have had this issue with my Galaxy TabPro 8.4 (similar device). Why don't you try reinstalling the software and drivers on your computer. Also, have you tried a different USB port? These simple techniques have solved the problem. Seems like a problem with your drivers.
Restart your device as well. A simple restart can clear issues.
im having the exact same issues, reinstalled windows, now i cant get my tab to connect ... tried different ports I finally got it to show up as an MTP device but computer doesnt like that one bit.
worked for me (Samsung tab pro)
had the same problem, all i did was shut down my tablet and start it back up (not restart option but actually shut down one) then it popped back up on my laptop as connected.
i think it has to do with the batt. not being able to charge on the laptop and it just over looks it........braking it down Barney style .
Hello everyone!
I recently decided to root my G4 (h815) and have downloaded the ADB drivers and have the drivers needed for the G4 however when I plug the phone into the PC ADB doesn't recognise the device is connected, even though the PC does know the phone is plugged in.
I have the phone set up correctly for debugging, and when I change to USB tethering the PC does make the little noise when a device is plugged in. I have tried in both USB 2 and USB 3 ports on two computers.
If it makes any difference the commands I used to try and get ADB to do something are:
ADB USB
ADB devices
Both say thre is no device connected.
Thanks in advance, sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Had the problem too, used WIN10, WIN 7, WIN XP. So i switched to Ubuntu.....that did the trick
are you enabled USB debugging in developers options?
Yes ADB is enabled.
I might try dualbooting with Ubuntu then. Seems odd that it doesn't work with Windows.
Hey guys,
trying to root this beauty and Im running into problems. Been testing around for about 4 hours now, no solution.
Im Running Windows 8.1 and had a few other devices installed before. Cleaned up the drivers with the device manager and USBDeview.
At first I tried the Nexus Root Toolkit, simply followed the instructions until the final checkup. Device is connected in ADB mode but not authorized. (Authorization does not popup on N5x)
Also tried all different driver versions.
Then I cleaned all that stuff again and tried to go the manual way through the SDK. Same Problem, device is recognized but no authorization and no pop-up.
Im using a tronsmart Micro-USB to USB-C adapter and already tried two different cables and many different ports.
Also tried switching through the USB connection modes and toggling debugging on / off.
Im at my wits end here, anyone got a solution?
i have the same issue on n5x,
cant get recognized on adb at all or usb debug
Rooted without problems from my gf's Laptop. So I guess it's an issue with the PC / drivers.
I have latest SDK updates. And USB debug on. OEM unlock on many options on and off. Nothing works
