I purchased one of these from ebay.

I really like how it makes my phone feel more premium.
I was wondering if there exists a custom backcover made entirely of metal? Or something thinner? This backcover adds like 3mm of unnecessary thickness and I can't use any cases ontop of it.
Below is something similar for the s4.

This seems to be alot thinner. The plastic is less visible atleast.
the problem with this cover is: weak signal for gsm (block signals: wifi, nfc, gsm)

I'm looking for the thinnest Galaxy SII phone cover people can think of. I currently have a CaseMate gel cover but it takes away how lovely this phone is without a cover on and makes it as bulky as my old HTC Leo, not to mention the fact it acts as an insulator and adds to the heat dissipation issues this phone already has.
Does anyone know of a cover/case which adds very little to the footprint of the phone as well as perhaps having holes to help with the heat? The official Samsung one looks nice but doesn't cover the corners which, given these are the most likeliest parts of the phone to hit the floor and be marked and damaged should the phone be dropped, sort of defeats the object to an extent. Also, a cover even thinner than that would be nice.
Cheers in advance.
I also have a case mate as thin as the original (in my drawer since this one arrived) but the case mate offers a little more protection on the corners. Got mine from CPW for £15 but you can get it online cheaper. The fit is perfect.
Is that the 'Barely There' one? I saw that in CPW but it didn't seem to offer any more protection than the Samsung one to me, or perhaps I didn't look at it properly. It also didn't have any holes for ventilation.
So I dislike the plastic battery cover of the Galaxy Nexus and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for alternative battery covers (I dont want cases, I want to replace my back). So far the only one I've seen is a metallic one on Amazon but I've heard that a metal back affects the radio signals so I guess im looking for either a:
-Metal/Fake Metal cover that doesn't affect the radio signals
or
-A back made of some nicer material (Matte finish, rubber, leather, etc)
I guess I would take a Zagg bodyguard type of stick on thing if it feels nice (Although I hate the feeling of most screen protectors too)
I have this one makes the phone feel like one

Anybody knows if the battery cover from the international version fits the verizon one?
Yes, it should ... the physical dimensions between the various SIII models are identical.
Likewise, cases and other fitted accessories for the international model should fit our phone, as well. I have three extended battery cases originally made for the international model which fit perfectly.
Be wary of any battery cover/replacement back made of metal. These interfere with NFC and radio (re: call, wifi and 3G/4G) reception. I've read that the carbon fiber backs are very nice ...

On the CF backs:
What people are calling "carbon fiber" backs, are NOT carbon fiber.. they are vinyl, with the consistency of leather (re: pleather) with a CF-like weave imprinted in it (3d imprinted, so it really does look pretty cool). They look awesome, and are slightly padding.
A REAL CF back would be expensive, and actually lower reception a tiny bit (nowhere near as much as a metal plate, but still lower reception).

Looks nice, if so do you have any pictures?
I have that in blue and it feels decent enough, although I don't have my phone yet to check the fit. I got it as a slightly more rugged alternative to a Poetic Atmosphere (or similar) case when I am out and about and it should work for that.
It isn't particularly low profile, but will still fit in my car dock (obviously not HTC) barely. The inner layer is fairly soft, similar to the Otterbox silicone. The outer layer is somewhat slick, but it didn't feel like I would have a grip problem due to the edges where the inner layer is exposed. The power button will be covered by the case, so the IR blaster will not work. Sorry, no pictures yet and I am not going to get my phone until Monday and I doubt I will have time to get them then.
Technically I have this version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380603504136 Don't get it for the stylus if you find a cheaper version, the stylus is not a value adder.

There is almost any information in the topic, but:
I am looking for a cover with (approximatly) the following specs:
Boosted corners to protect the G5 Plus in the (in my opinion) only really critical case of a drop on the corner...
A lot less than a thickness of 1 mm - ideally something like 0.5-0.75 mm (0.02-0.03 inches) - at least on the back of the cover. I want to put a 0.2 mm metal plate between the phone and the cover and the force of the magnetic car holder should be very strong in spite of using the cover. I really don't care if the camera is protected by a very thick backside (at least 2 mm thickness - omg) as it is extremly unlikely that the camara gets damaged, except for the very rare flat-drop situation, in which the camera is also not protected if it hits a small stone or similar. So I prefer a really thin, lightweight cover and not those 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm covers that seem to be the only availabe products in combination with the barefaced description calling those "ultra thin". This is a real joke. The corners might be boosted to 1 mm to 1.5 mm but not the rest.
The keys must be free (cutout from the cover) or really easy to press. I just bought a 5 star rated cover on amazon (something like 8 reviews): It is such an awful, stif and heavy product and the covered buttons have to be pressed unbelievable strong - it is just ridiculous. Fake reviews or stupid folks. Additionally the cover is 1.5 mm thick and was offered as "ultra thin" (oh my stupidity...).
Up to now I failed in finding a cover that meets my desired specifications, but I assume that it must exist. There are like a billion offers on amazon, almost no seller providing correct and thruthful information on the geometry (thickness, etc) of the cover, while claiming it is "ultra thin" (1.5 mm is ultra thin? This is a joke, right? Most of the G5 Plus is 7.7 mm thick - meaning that an 1.5 mm cover will increase thickness by 20 percent. This is NOT ultra thin. Ultra thin means increasing thickness by an almost insignificant number.), of "high quality silicone" (cheap TPU is called silicone?) and of course "nano coated" (you don't really believe that your "0,1 $ production cost (and sold for 10 $ to make it look like quality) and assembled in China cover" is anything different than cheap material without any technology features). The ultimate problem seems to be the desinformation through an unbelievably highly competitive market with a billion of offers, fake seller reviews, etc, where finding the one good product is like looking for a needle in a haystack...
Does anyone have a useful hint for a product that might meet my specifications? .
I really don't want to continue buy and error anymore, because most often the return shipping costs are not refunded, which means that you will get 1 of 6 Euros/Dollars refunded or something like that. And generating all that waste makes me have a guilty conscience.
Search for Spigen on Amazon, good case. Just got mine , buttons are great and good protection all around

Mhh ok - but how thick is the backside? It looks like it is at least 1.5-2mm thick and therefore a magnetic plate will be very weak through it...

I've got the same type of mount. My plate is in but haven't tested the mount yet. But I think it should be fine. Will update tonight
Edit- it works fine with the magnet

I also got this particular cover:
- it is very thick, but as I bought an extra large and extra strong magnetic car holder it is not a problem.
- it is not tacky at all, which I unfortunately consider a con. I really feel like I will sooner or later (I guess sooner) drop my phone, as the cover is the exact opposite of tacky, especially compared to typical silicon or tpa covers.
The cover looks great, it feels great, but being not tacky at all and still very thick(!) I am not really convinced.
Anccer Motorola Moto G5 Plus Case
I just ordered an "Anccer Motorola Moto G5 Plus Case" from Amazon (not allowed to post any links because I just got a new XDA account...)
They claim it's 0.8 mm thick and it has cut-outs for buttons too, although it's not soft as you mentioned. I just want to have the minimal case to add a bit of grip because this phone is too damn slippery!
Seeing your post is a few months old, what did you end up going for?
I actually did what @joshk89 advised me to and bought the Spigen. Anyway it is a little bit slippy and not as tacky as it should be, but it looks very good, gives a good protection, fits very tight, but is at least 1.5 mm thick. Also the keys are perfectly usable without the need of extensive force in your fingers.
@nanodgb Do you like the addtional grip that the anccer offers? On amazon reviews people write that it is very slippy and that it breaks very quickly as the corners are not soft but hard plastic and start to crack early... What do you think about that?

I'm actually quite happy with it after a week. If you're looking for grip I wouldn't recommend this case though. It's a bit slippy. Not nearly as much as the original cover though, but not as tacky as a rubber one. One thing's clear, it is very thin, 0.7mm or 0.8mm max. Not sure it provides the best protection, but it's exactly what I wanted. The corners look fine for now, we'll see in a few months.
