I need help reverting to stock..
Here's the short version of the story.. My friend bought her i9195 in Italy, unbranded. She brought it to China.. she encountered the region/SIM lock.
I told her I could probably fix it. So, we rooted her phone, which we confirmed with Root Checker. Then, we tried using RegionLock Away. Didn't work. So I thought the "lock" was in the ROM.. so I wiped it and flashed CWM (during the root) and CM10.2.
The rom worked fine, but the SIM/region lock was still there. I tried to change the CSC with CSC select, but that wouldn't work, even with root. In that state, RegionLock Away returned "unable to find CSC info".. I thought it just needed the Chinese firmware and everything would be okay. On Samsung's website, there is no firmware for China. yippee! (Side note, when I inserted my US T-Mobile SIM, it worked fine.. but with a China Unicomm SIM, it would lock).
So I decided to revert back to the stock rom/firmware/modem.. I went on Samsung's website, downloaded the Italian version (where she bought it), and went into Odin v3.09.
In Odin, I unchecked the F. Reset Time.. I loaded the tar.md5 file in the AP field, and flashed away. I noticed that the KNOX warranty was 0x1.. but, it flashed fine and Passed.. but now the phone is stuck at the boot animation! I left it for an hour, so I know it's not just a slow first boot.
What do I need to fix for it to boot? What did I miss? Please help! Ultimately I would like it to be running the stock rom with the region/sim unlocked.. we don't mind if the warranty is void.
Just flash it again, then boot up in recovery mode, and make a wipe factory reset.
Thank you! That worked. It booted successfully.
Now to try and get rid of that pesky region lock..

Hi,
I had my galaxy note 2 with stock android 4.3 firmware. Phone is unrooted. And I decided to downgrade to 4.1.1. Took stock firmware for my region, took odin, entered download mode and flashed my phone with this firmware. Odin completed without any problems, phone rebooted and stuck on splash screen. I entered recovery mode then, wiped data and cache partition and phone booted without any problems. But here goes my major problem - my phone can not register onto my mobile network. When I search for the networks - phone can see them but when I select network phone simply refuses to register onto this network Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Its a problem with the radio incompatibility . Did you download the firmware for the correct region ?
Just to test try flashing any of the custom firmware in 4.1 framework . See if the network registers . If it does then ur flashing a wrong version of stock .

Hi, it seems that I was able to find solution. As I've been on 4.3 official rom it seems that EFS partitions were modified and when I flashed stock 4.1.1 it seems that the modem can't access info on this partition. So I flashed modem from official 4.1.2 firmware and everything started to work. This thing was mentioned somewhere on this forum.
But here comes my another problem When I flashed to 4.1.1 I saw knox warranty void 0x1 But it was too late when I saw what this does mean But the problem is that download mode says that my phone is in custom state and that I loaded custom firmware 1 time. Well... I've tried to root the phone, installed triangle away and tried to reset flash counter. When I entered download mode I saw that flash counter was set to 0 and that the phone is in official state. But when I rebooted phone till Android OS and went to download mode after that I saw that flash counter was set to 1 again but the phone is in official state. Why is that? I have stock recovery and stock rom. As I've read there must be no such thing. Could it be because my bootloader is from 4.3 version? And one more thing - I was not able to enter recovery mode when I rooted the phone Phone stays at the flash screen forever Is it expected thing with stock recovery?
And one more question. Lets imagine that I have 4.1.1 official rom, I'm rooted and want to flash 4.1.2 official rom with odin. Do I need to unroot my phone at first or can I skip this step? Thanks.
If you are on 4.3 then Triangle away will not work due to knox . Its recommend you unroot the phone before flashing a new rom using Odin.
Hi everyone
Long time xda follower, newly registered, since I needed to ask a Q.
I rooted and switched to Lollipop on my ATT S3 (i747) a few months ago, Lately, I've started noticing battery issues as well as network issues with this ROM. I figure it is time for me to go back to stock.
However, if I remember correctly, when I tried previously the phone refused to downgrade back to stock. Kies was helpless because the trip counter had been reset (or something similar).
Please, is there a good how-to on downgrading this phone from Lollipop back to stock? If yes, would someone please point me to it?
Much thanks in advance.

Hmm.. I am going to give this a try:

Nope! No go!!
Triangle away reset the counter.
The stock recovery works well. I was able to boot to recovery and wipe the data and all that.
Odin says "SW Revcheck Fail" when trying to download the stock rom.
I rebooted into Lollipop, downloaded Triangle away again and reset the counter. Still Odin fails with the same message.
I tried flashing ROM first then the recovery as it was suggested in that link. Nope. Again "SW Revcheck fail". For the record, my SWREV appears to be 3. It is supposed to be 0. Triangle Away does NOT reset this. It did reset another counter (as reported by Triangle away itself - was 5, got reset to 0).
I remember *this* was the problem previously as well, hence the original Q:
How *do* you get back to stock from Lollipop on the Galaxy S3/ATT?
Meanwhile, although Keis failed to recognize the device, I tried to run a firmware recovery manually. It took a long time and in the end failed. It also messed up the recovery, so I had to flash CW again to make it bootable. I'm still back up with Lollipop at this point, but I don't want Lollipop.
Anyone anything else I can do? Any other guide out there to downgrade?
Thanks again
L
The thread you linked is for the international version of the s3.
Before flashing anything else, you need to confirm the bootloader on your phone to ensure that you don't flash anything that attempts to change the bootloader if your bootloader is mjb or newer.

Right. I finally figured it out.
First the 4.1.1 FWs weren't flashing (in other words SW REV CHK FAIL) was basically indicating that my Bootloader was far ahead of the 4.1.1. I dropped 4.1 after I figured that part out.
Next, I tried to flash a 4.4 (UCUFNE-rooted-odex is available as a zip-flash) through CWR, which didn't work (no boot, stuck at splash).
Next I got hold of a 4.3 (UCUEMJB-2024954-REV04-user-low-ship), which successfully flashed through Odin (repartition checked), but there was no sound, IMEI indicated null. Service Mode yielded a blank screen.
I flashed TWRP through Odin (was working on CWR since the beginning) and then flashed the UCUFNE-rooted-odex above on top of 4.3 through TWRP, which was successful, still no sound/IMEI/service mode.
Finally I got hold of the UCUFNE-Modembaseband zip (a small one - 20MB) and flashed that through TWRP. Both sound and IMEI came back.
I'm at 4.4.2 now, but an OTA update from ATT failed (probably because it went through TWRP)
Now I'm back to stock, albeit rooted ROM (because of the Rooted-Odex 4.4 flash), but I am a happy camper.
Thanks to XDA for various bits of info here and there. But essentially *this* is how you go back to stock from Lollipop.

Picked up a Note 2 T889 a few days ago. The phone was on 4.3 stock when I got it.
I flashed a 4.3 rom, but when it finally started up, there was no SIM card recognized - even though the phone worked fine before I flashed the rom. Being the quick thinker I am, I downloaded the 4.3 stock and attempted to flash it through Odin without any success. The firmware will lock up when it tries to flash the modem, soft bricking the phone, which I can get around by re-starting the install-recovery-then-everything-else process over.
I tried grabbing the modem.bin and flashing that straight from the stock package, but the phone still says no SIM. When I put the SIM in another phone, it works fine. I've done everything I can think of (short of putting stock back on, because again, stock won't work for some reason) to try and solve the issue. At this point, I'd deal with having stock on the phone if I could get it to recognize the SIM.
I'm going insane trying to get it solved and I know it's something simple.. Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
One year ago, I soft-bricked my S4 mini; downloaded and flashed the stock rom. After this progress, everything got lost, but it booted without problems. No troubles for months...
Now, my phone (rooted) is becomming slower and slower, it takes forever to boot and shutdown. Also, sometimes it crashes without reason. So I decided to go back to stock rom, to have my mobile as quick as when I bought it. Also I just wanted to get rid of all the junk.
I still got the firmware on my PC, and so I started flashing after I backuped everything.
Odin (3.0.9) said passed and my phone booted into recovery, and then normally. But then, every app I installed was still there. When going back to Download Mode, Knox was also still 0x1, the recovery however, was replaced to default one.
In Odin, I only marked the default options, Auto Reboot and F Reset time.
My Rom is from sammobile.
Does anybody know what I did wrong?
What's your problem now?
Do you mean why your knox wasn't back to 0x0? If you mean that, unfortunately knox can not back to 0x0 after it get 0x1.

when you flash a stock rom the recovery will get replaced
did you wipe data/factory reset before flashing the firmware or not? if you did not the apps will still be there when you finish flashing..
I unrooted my phone ages ago, havent done anything to it since, but yesterday my phone just decided to cut out, started with apps not loading, then my phone wouldn't turn on, now my phone just gets stuck into bootloop
How do I determine which stock firmware to go back to via Odin?
My phone is UK, and unlocked
When i try to go into recovery, I get the following
RECOVERY BOOTING....
SET Warranty Bit: Recovery
and it's driving me nuts, Ive tried installing a UK firmware that I believe might be the one, and Odin doesn't come back with any errors, but the same damn message applies, as far as I know, once you can get recovery working and clear cache, you should be fine, but I just cant get it to work
I've tried installed custom bootloaders, but same ol same message
