Hi i think this question has been asked several times. But i have some more queries.
My first question is that can i use an external Wifi Adapter with my Xperia S. Specifically "Leoxsys LEO-AP150N Mini USB Wireless Adapter". If yes then how is it possible. Do i need to install any App to make it Easy.
Also the reason why i want to use external WiFi is because inbuilt Wifi of my xperia S is not working. The toggle to turn On/Off the Wifi is been disabled. what could possibly the problem ? I tried flashing the device with ICS, JB XperiaS_LT26i_6.2.B.0.211_KernelOnly.ftf and JB 6.2.B.1.96 but no magic to get it working.

if you tap directly on WiFi (the actual word, not the greyed out slider), does it also take you to a screen where it's stuck on "turning on WiFi" or something like that, and everything else (like SCAN and the list of networds) is greyed out? and i just won't connect, like, ever?
if so, you're not alone, mate, because i have the same issue and would like to know what causes that.
your wifi modules could be broken
id like the folowing details

You said this was still like this after flashing a stock ftf?
And if so your wifi hardware is broken and needs to be replaced
Sony repair centers may help but it can cost and may take a while

If by working you mean, the application opens and you can tether, then yes.

Tried on my rooted verizon GN. Tested with Samsung Series 9 and Samsung Skyrocket, as well as my BB.

How?
I just tested the update and confirm what everyone else is saying. It doesn't work at all and has the exact same errors as before.
WiFi hotspot USB Tether by SVTP works well on the nexus without root. I just tried the 2 day free trail, and after a little trouble shooting, I have the wifi hotspot feature working great. I have yet to try the usb tether. It's 9.99 in the market and again doesn't require root. I'm using a sony vaio laptop running windows 7.

Hey guys am running 4.01 and am having trouble with the nexus staying connected with my wifi. I have turned it off and on but all that happens is the icon goes blue then grey then disappears. Any ideas on how to fix? Cheers
I have the same problem, but there is already a thread about this
Used to have the same problem on the Nexus S. Have you tried manually assigning an IP address to the nexus and turning off DHCP on the wifi router?
Also could try turning off all security on the wifi router and try to connect. Then apply one level of security at a time - WEP (try connecting) then WPA.

WiFi Connection Problem Fix
Hi,
its an realy easy Solution. It seems that ICS has a Problem to identify bad Internetconnections. Some times, very good Connections will be droped by this new functionality from ICS.
go to
Systemsettings / WLAN / Menu / Extended / Schlechte Internetverbindung ve.. (in english something like "bad Internetconnection")
and unmark it.
The Connections will not dropped automaticly anymore.

yes after 4.0.1 that feature is gone. Maybe google removed it to "fix" the wifi issues many people are having? I really think that this is hardware issues!

It may be software. (i have not had this problem my self) My old phone is the Droid Incredible. After I got my Nexus, i tuned my old phone into an "iPod". The wifi on it was always solid as a rock. I have flashed a few roms on it for fun and the latest one drops wifi all the time. That was just a software change, nothing more.

Alright guys, I think another possible fix has been found, I'll link to it soon. Also, if the thread posted above has helped you, please press the thanks button.
EDIT: I have updated this thread with yet another potential fix for the wifi issue. Please reply in the thread I've linked to, as other people are also experiencing the issue and it doesn't make sense to have more than one thread about the same issue.
Also, I've posted the issue over here, and if you look at the third reply, there could be a potential fix.

OK, perhaps the fix works only for germany.
At Germany the Android Version 4.01 with Build ITL41F is the actual ROM / there are no updates available.
Which Options do you habe at the Extended Option Menu at WLAN Settings?
I hope the 5 GHz Settings will also not disapear with the next update.

if you have this app installed, try creating a shortcut or wigdet or whatever to the hidden menu, I think that is how it's supposed to work.
it's one of the only few apps that will display the hidden menu option, from what i've read, haven't tried it as there's nothing on the hidden menu that I'd want to change.
Also, I've read you can access hidden menu commands via typing in a string f digits on you phone keypad and hit send. I googled this and found a bunch of codes but none of them worked, they were all phone specific.
Does anyone else find that like 50% entertainment apps on the market are "not compatible with your device"
Just like the LG Thrill you can use the Anycut app to create a shortcut for connectivity test where you can uncheck the entitlement box. This gives you hotspot access without the tethering package. only worth it if you have the old unlimited data. The only difference is on the thrill every time you reboot the phone you had to uncheck the box again. On the Nitro it stays unchecked after reboot. No root required to access hotspot. I love it!!!

I was running hotspots on my xperia x10 for a year until the thrill was released. Ran it on the thrill using this method till I got my nitro last month. I work for at&t and they're only tracing iPhone tethering. The method used with the LG phones as far as I've researched is untraceable because LG gives you the option to disable at&t's entitlement. Its also great for those who choose not to root. No root required for this method to work.

I'm using the leaked version of ICS from AT&T. I installed Anycut, and set a shortcut to the connectivity test (there were two listed) and when I hit the shortcut, I see the message "Application is not installed" so evidently this has been removed from the ICS Rom.
Hi, ivwould like to ask about the problem regarding the phone, arc s or the lt18i model.
1. The phone was updated to the latest ics firmware probably the official and has a lot of problems like the phone keeps restarting or crash and not responding
2. A while ago the phone were fine until i turned it off for quite a while maybe about 30 minutes or so then the phone unable to boot up but there were slight vibration when i pressed the power button and the screen stays black.
The phone is a friend of mine so i only trying to help him fixing the problem.
Any solution would be great. Thanks in advance

i am not sure. The phone wont boot. I am having trouble downloading the flashtool because of its massive filesize around 100mb and my internet access currently is very limited. How do i know if the bootloader is locked?
Edit: i think the phone does boot up, there was the initial vibration when i pressed the power button and the secondary haptic vibration, a brief vibration. My laptop detected thw phone but no folder available. It seems like the phone is up but only the processor and memories without other hardware running especially the screen that shows nothing but pitch black

Is it okay to have these attributes? I am assuming that the phone is unrooted or something that made the phone behave like this.
And one more thing, anyone know where can i download the oldest rom version besides xperiadev.wordpress.com that uses uploaded.net server?
Splitted file of 50-100mb for the rom?
Thanks in advance

Maybe it looks like a silly question, but is the phone charged enough? I've had this problem with my phone when i made an upgrade, and i've stayed with it turned off 3 days, just to see that it wasn't charged enough to boot.

I dont think the battery is the main problem here because the phone boots with the initial boot vibration. The main problem here is the screen stays black all the time. Only with some luck then the screen will show something. It does vibrate randomly earlier but screen stays black

If you go in to system updates through the settings and check for the update, you have 3 options, No Thanks, Download Later, and Download Now.
If you click No Thanks, the alert goes away. It will even state in the system update app that the last update (on June 30th, 2105) failed.
Download later allows you to choose a time that better suits you.
And of course Download Now, starts the process right now.
Hope this helps.
When i go to system update all i have is update now or later. I don't get the no thanks option.

From Droid-Life:
An update is rolling out for the LG G4 on Verizon, bringing a few features to owners, but nothing all that special. The software version is labeled as VS98611A.
Included is an enhanced Folio display while a call is taking place, an updated consistency for displaying contacts and non-contacts in the Dialer app, and an enhanced Advanced Calling feature. That’s it.
