How to Fascinate your Mesmerize! SCH-i500 USCellular -> PagePlus/Straight Talk - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

So, this was a severe pain in the ass, but I made it, so I thought I'd share.
If you are like me, you're here because you already pulled the trigger on porting your number to PagePlus, frantically searching for a guide to getting your US Cellular Mesmerize work...with data. Once ported over, if you use Kitty Wireless you get a discount and they will email you with step by step instructions that should supplement this guide beautifully.
I have a US Cellular Mesmerize, and I didn't feel like changing hardware, so I wanted to make it work on PagePlus...little did I know the tangled web of annoyance I had stumbled upon.
First off, grab connectbot on the market. Run it, switch the ssh option to local, choose a name (bob or one letter is fine) hit the return key then type the following, exactly:
getprop ril.MSL
Write down the "magic code" (should spit out the SPC code which is six digits and often 000000, but not mine hence learning to do this) and if that doesn't work, keep digging these forums, though this doesn't even need root to work.
Get: windows drivers for samsung sch-i500
Odin
QPST (demo from their site works fine and is virus free...aside from not saving backups it works great...search for a screenshot guide of using qpst to change a prl file)
Kitty Wireless will email some fairly detailed instructions for setting up and link you to Manual Programming, go there and grab the prl file they offer for download
I believe if you search for it you should find the code (ill try to edit later) for changing your ESN number, which if you've already pressed go is available through email from kitty wireless along with your cell number. If you're coming from US Cellular, this is often your number, but needs to be changed to the number you are setting up with Kitty, though your phone number will remain the same if you're porting it.
Use Odin, Using Verizon Rom package (link edit search fascinate stock rom, swap pit and tar file with odin, make sure partition is checked)
Update with OTA programming, and voila, fascinated mesmerize.

Make the leap, save cash!
Many people are interested in this swap...here's a thread I discovered that may help complete the picture.

Damn newb limits have me thwarted on linking again!

Verizon i500 to page plus?
I installed the stock Verizon rom to a i500 that was through a local company but was reading now page plus won't accept flashed phone's since Oct. Is there a way to get it to work?

How I flashed my Evo OFF Boost and fixed the MEID

EDIT: found out that though the method I wrote up here works fine, there is a simpler way. I'm leaving the original post because I learned a lot about my phone in the process and maybe someone else would want to as well.
EASY WAY:
unroot your phone and return to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
hard reset (from hboot) and it resets everything to stock
when you call in to sprint to activate they will have you do this: ##yourmslcode# and enter your MDN and MSID
BAM!!! you're all done
I bought an Evo on craigslist cheap. The MEID on the phone was good. The one stored IN the phone was not a Sprint MEID. Also, all the settings for MMS, data, etc were changed and unusable on Sprint. The Sprint store told me I was screwed and the local cell store wanted to charge me $100.00 to fix it. I spent close to 20 hours on forums trying to figure out how to fix it. The answers I got were conflicting, and people were generally not helpful with comments like RTFM and accusations of doing illegal stuff. So, I decided I would share what worked for me to save the next guy from the same anguish.
This tutorial will probably suck so don't ***** at me if it does, at least I'm trying to help. Also don't look to me for help or blame me if you break something I AM NOT AN EXPERT. That said here you go:
#1. Download needed software:
HTCDiagDrivers
QPST_2_7_Build355
QXDM31136
#2. Root Phone
Follow this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838448
(make sure you use a Sense based rom not AOSP)
#3. Get MSL Code
Connect phone to internet via WiFi
Go to Market on your phone
Install "MSL Reader"
Run it and write down the code
#4 Install and Setup Downloaded Software
Install QPST
Open QPST Configuration from start menu
Click on "Ports" tab
Click on "Add New Port"
In the field "Port" enter "COM4" (THE PORT ON YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE DIFFERENT. COM5, COM6, ETC)
In the field "Port Label" name it. I called it "Evo"
Click "OK" and exit
Install QXDM
****My computer (Win7) had issues installing these automatically. This is what I had to do to get it installed:
-extract zip
-Put Evo in Diag mode ##3424#
-plug in Evo
-go to "Device Manager"
-find the Evo (you should see it with a "!" by it)
-right click it and select "Update Drivers"
-click "Browse my computer for driver software"
-click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
-click "Have Disk"
-browse to the location of the extracted "HTCDiagDrivers" folder and select the driver
-click "OK" and let it install
#5 Make your MEID writable:
Follow this tutorial Steps 1-5:
***The following thread doesn't explain Step 1 (flashing the radio) so I will tell you how
(1)RADIO
-download radio 2.05.00.06.10
-(DO NOT EXTRACT) copy to your phone's micro SD card
-reboot into recovery
-select "flash zip from sd card"
-choose the radio you copied to your card
-reboot
http://cdmagurus.com/forum/showthre...id-on-the-Evo/page7?highlight=clone+evo+boost
Immediately follow on to the next step
#6 Write Your MEID
(I initially tried another command found in this and then in a different post and could not get the MEID to stick after a reboot so this is what I did)
Copy the MEID(hex) from the back of your Evo underneath the battery
Put Evo I Daig mode ##3424#
Plug Evo into computer via USB
Open QXDM from start menu
Go to "Options" > "Communications"
Click the drop down menu next to "Target Port"
Select "COM4" (or 5,6,etc)
Click "OK"
In the field "Command" enter: "RequestNVItemWrite meid 0x&&&&&&&&&&&" replacing the "&"s with MEID from the back of your phone
Exit QXDM
Reboot Evo
#7 Restore provider settings for data, mms, and such:
***Call Sprint to activate your new phone. Probably best you don't tell them your issues. I didn't do the programming as they had told me but I said I had. This may or may not be important, but is what worked for me. Write down your MSID when they tell you it.
Enter EPST from the dialer ##3282#
Select "Edit"
Enter you MSL code
Select "Advanced"
Select "MSID"
Enter the MSID Sprint gave you
Hit menu
Select "Commit Modifications"
Let phone reboot
Enter EPST from dialer: ##3282#
Select "Edit"
Enter your MSL code
Select "Data Profile"
Press menu button
Select "Restore"
Phone will reboot and run a bunch of stuff. Let it run until it gets to "Checking for Firmware Update" press cancel (might not be important but it's what I did just because I didn't know if it would mess up my "rooted" ROM)
#8 Flash back to stock or the ROM of your choosing and enjoy your Evo!
If this How-To was unclear or I left something out let me know. I know there are many methods and I don't suggest this is the best, only what worked for me.
Here is a link to a similar thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937652
It doesn't deal with anything having to do with MEID but might be helpful
This will work with all evo's or only ones with older Hboots and older partitions?
Thanks
Oh, and I do believe you but your name makes it a bit harder to, LOL.

I don't know what it will work on.
The Evo I did says hw v 0003 in settings > about phone
When I vol down + power on it says:
supersonic evt2-3 ship s-off
hboot-2.10.0001
radio-2.05.00.06.10
Before doing this I had updated everything hoping it would somehow fix it. (radio/nv/etc except) and had flashed CM7RC2, myn's warm, and several others just to play with it. I read some that someone with hwv4 having issues downgrading radio but that might have been user error. Also, from what I understand you can zero out the MEID to make it writable (Step#5) using other methods without having to downgrade the radio. This is simply what worked for me.
nice write up

To the OP, in step #5, you mention about changing the radio. What is the purpose of this? What if the device has a more recent radio? Thanks!

Cloning an esn either way is wrong, if you break into security of a bank to return stolen money, you still broke into a bank just with good intentions, may be a bad metaphor but you should get the point, cloning both ways is illegal

From what I understand from reading the refrenced thread it has something to do with the trick used to make the MEID writable or it will not work.

I'm not going to get into this ridiculously played out debate and really it's off topic. If you can link to an actual government site that clearly states editing the MEID for such purposes is illegal or cases of actual criminal prosecution please post links.
Repairing the MEID is not like breaking into a bank to return money. That's absurd. It's like restoring the VIN on a car or ID# on a car stereo (which btw if have a car stereo you bought from some guy in the state of WI and it doesn't have a serial number it's a $500 fine just for having it in your possession even if there's no evidence it was ever stolen) If I had repaired the serial # on the stereo do you think I would have gotten a fine for fixing it? Don't be silly
This is nj, if you need more you can look yourself, close thread, http://www.romingerlegal.com/new_jersey/appellate/a4869-96.opn.html

The end-result of this process is the creation of two telephones, the original and a "clone," that carry the same telephone number and serial number.
That is not what is going on here. The OP is not cloning, there are not two phones with the same number. I don't see anything wrong (morally or legally) with this.
OP = Good write up, and while it does not apply to me, I see how this can be useful to the Evo community.
Thanks iitreatedii for the link it was very informative but I think you missed the point.
Thank you rugedraw for clarifying.
oh lord no please no more talk of all this illegal esn business im going to throw gasoline on my computer and burn it down i have to hide all the evidence and claw my own eyes out for seeing this. i have a htc hero a epic 4g touch pro 2 and lg optimus all on boost with the same number if you catch my drift
LOL...that's too funny! I think people on here sometimes get carried away with what's illegal and what isn't. I know I might be going off topic but I remember when I had an iPhone back in the day and I mentioned to someone that I jailbroke it and they were like OMFG, that's illegal....you'll go to jail!!....I seriously doubt that the government is going to waste time and money going after ONE SINGLE person that jailbroke/cloned an esn or whatever......in these cases you read about how someone got locked up for doing such a thing it was because A. they were stealing someone's information/money or B. they got greedy and started running a craigslist/ebay business out of their mom's basement........SO LIKE jay said....let's cool it on the whole illegal/legal deal......no one has to burn a computer down or burn their fingerprints or change their names and move to mexico....ALRIGHT?!..lol...All the OP was trying to do was save someone the headache of researching the damn info themselves!
You either let the kid post it on here or it gets posted on some other forum....either way, the information WILL BE OUT THERE!
There are plenty of threads about the legalities out there. I'll say this and lets let it go:
1) although prosecution is extremely rare and most references to laws about it are out-dated altering an esn IS illegal.
2) people that get off telling other people that everything is illegal are probably just acting out because their parents didn't hug them enough growing up.
3) it is against forum rules because the forum can get in trouble because it is illegal.
4) REPAIRING the esn is not illegal and not against forum rules.
5) the topic of this thread involves REPAIRING the esn, not altering it.

i think the main issue here is that by showing someone how to "undo" it that person can easily figure out how to "do" it. it is a PITA to find all this info but by posting it here people who steal phones...(bastards) can have easy access by searching a few keywords.
i don't think it's wrong but this info could fall into the wrong hands and that would make my evo a target.
it's just like when I had my 88 VW GTI there is a easy way to break into one just jab a screwdriver through the door right below the handle and jiggle it. well I read about this on a website selling reinforced steel plates that you weld inside the door to prevent this.
the point is, you are empowering people by giving them the tools they need to change or clone an esn/meid. for good or for evil

Keep in mind that this write up is somewhat advanced, not every thief out there has any idea of what to do with the phone in order to make it 'usable'... all they want is cash. Note that there is high risk of bricking the device as well (since the procedure requires to mess up with the weakness of the EVO: its radio)
Also, this information has to have been available somewhere else thus the risk you run getting your phone stolen for this purpose is the same as it was before this was written.

A "Pro" Flashing my Epic 4G to Metro

Bought an Epic 4G Touch and found a local guy on craigslist who's going to do a full flash to MetroPCS. I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to what questions I should ask the guy. I'm new to this whole thing, this is my first smart phone, but I'm a quick learner.
From what I understand from my research, he's going to have to flash a custom rom on it in order for the phone's features to be fully operational. Is it important I find out which rom so I can perform my own updates, or is it going to be obvious what he did simply by looking in the settings?
Am I going to have to avoid OTA updates? Or do I just install Rootkeeper to get the updates?
I also assume that by doing this I will be stuck using the custom rom, right? Or as long as my ESN is added to the Metro system I can change it to any rom I can find that is fully operational with Metro?
Is there any other vital information I should make sure to ask for in case I need to configure anything in the future?
Would it be smarter for me to just ask him to add my ESN to metro and then flash it myself? (If I can find a guide online-- links, anybody?)
Feel free to add any information that you think might help!
Thanks in advance.
its pretty much about manually programming in your data settings 100% correctly. anyone can add an meid/esn into their database and program in your phone number(##SPC#). if you research online you can find the exact settings. i dont believe metro uses wap anymore so that certainly makes things easier.
you should be able to use ANY rom and be able to call/text/use data. the only issue you will run into(maybe.. i dont use metro) would be mms. mms sometimes is custom built for a specific phone/carrier. when you see metro/cricket custom roms.. thats generally the big modification.. the mms. you may get some little edits here and there.. changing the word sprint to metro etc... but otherwise thats pretty much it. as is.. the epic 4g touch can be manually programmed with any cdma carriers data profiles for 3g.
if you dont care about mms.. its a 100% no brainer.. take the time and do it yourself. if mms is a must.. do a little research to see if others on metro got mms working.. there will be people talking about it somewhere on the internet.
and just to add.. if u do use a custom rom for metro.. you will be stuck with that rom(unless its a freely available custom rom.. but those are rare these days.. most are sold on cdma forums for lots of $$$).
I will preface this with I've never done this before so I don't know the outcome. That said, at least in my area, the 4g is not compatible with lte, metro doesn't have 3g but 2g rttx1 should work. I don't know about you but if it were me, I wouldn't do it. That's like putting a restricting device on a Porsche so that its top speed is 30mph. 2g is practically dial up speeds. Do what you will though...

Thanks so much, great information. Question- Do you mean I can add my own ESN into the Metro Database myself? I thought only Metro reps could do that (independent ones for under the table).
As for the rest of the data settings, when searching for this information online, do I need to look specifically for Epic 4g Touch, or the data settings will be the same no matter what phone?

Actually I don't care about mms, as long as I can do regular text messages (sms). Does this mean that if I don't care for MMS I can actually get the Epic Touch fully operational on the stock rom?

So I couldn't re-flash it to a different rom? It's not "reversible"? (If it is possible- would I lose all the Metro data if I changed the rom?)
Thanks for the help, I've been Googling around like crazy trying to find more info, but not finding a lot. I probably should of gotten a more commonly metro flashed phone, lol. I'll keep looking around and see if I can find any guides, if I find one and can do everything myself I'd rather go that route (not to save money, just to be able to troubleshoot any issues that may arise in the future).
Edit: I've found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8395950 that looks like it might be exactly what I need to do (up to step 28), and someone on this Epic Touch Forum recommended another member to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303507 but it's for Evo 3D, so not sure if it would work for the Epic. The guide starts off for phones already "flashed to metro with text and talk", though. I think I still need to pay the "Pro" to get my ESN added to the Metro Network? Are they able to add the ESN to the Metro Database and get text/talk working without flashing a custom rom?
Sorry... so many questions. I'll give lots of thanks =(
EDIT #2:
Think I got it now. Looks like I will need to get the phone Metro Flashed through my guy for talk and text (I can ask if his MMS/Web method involves a custom rom, if so I'll pass) then I can activate web (and MMS I guess) myself through these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303507
At this point (correct me if I'm wrong) I won't be locked into any custom roms and I can freely upgrade to any freely available rom (ie CM7) without affecting my Metro settings?
really not sure what the best procedure is for getting your esn added to the DB.. i would think any 3rd party metro store would be able to add it into system... as well as some people on craigslist. just look for the cheapest option.
once your esn ins in the system.. you pick a plan.. program in your phone number and msid (##SPC#) as well as write a metro PRL to the phone... and thats it for working talk/text. thats the "basic flash" most people do. only thing you cant do yourself is add meid.
and then you will eventually program data. the steps for evo 3d should be very similar to epic. other than how to get the phones into DIAG mode.. what to manually add is the same across the board... tho your username/password will be unique to you. (ppp password is based off esn.. username will be based on phonenumber).
i believe metro has recently added 3G in SOME areas.. so theres a small chance youll have that. and as for 4G... see my epic 4g touch thread on how to edit wimax settings...
ive said enough.. you should be able to take it from here.
edit: as for being "stuck" with a custom metro rom.. youd have the option to reflash anything youd like.. but the custom metro settings would probably no longer work. it would suck to pay for a custom rom that you end up wanted to switch out anyway(since it wouldnt be updated like he rest of the roms). i say pay the $10.. 15..20.. whatever it is to have esn added to the system.. then do the rest yourself.
If you search on ebay. There is a guy that can add your esn to metro for $25. Then you can flash your own custom rom, but you would have to setup your own data. If you search around, there are threads about how to setup data for metropcs around the web.
Ran outta thanks, I'll get you tomorrow
I looked it up on ebay and there's only a couple up atm and they end up being a lot, ie the cheapest is $20 but then they charge $25 shipping lol <.<
Luckily, the local guy I found on Craigslist (there are actually a lot independent metro stores in the area advertising actually) will add ESN and get talk & text working for $35. So it's not a bad deal. From there I'll get the rest working myself.
Although I'm gonna ask him about his MMS method, if it involves a custom rom I have been contemplating getting it. I been researching and it looks like all I have to do is backup the custom rom with nandroid, and I can flash to whatever rom I want, then I can always revert to the custom rom if I really want MMS working again-- if I'm unable to get it working myself.
My used Epic 4G Touch arrives in a few hours!
First thing I plan on doing is a full restore and then installing EL13+CWM. After this I'll get take it to the independent Metro store to get it flashed over to Metro. Then I'll make my first nandroid backup.
Question- By making the nandroid backup I can always revert back to the Metro data settings my guy configured, right? (In the case they get deleted through rom flashing).
Can I see all the settings he configured by reading the values set through CDMA Workshop? Would this include everything needed to make the phone fully functional on Metro again (outside of the possible custom rom to make MMS work)?
Thanks in advance.

nandroid wont restore data settings... but you wont need to as 3g data profiles(as well as talk/text) stick after new roms. only a ##786# full reset will wipe those settings.
you should be able to see most if not all settings with cdma ws/qpst service programming.
1. Phone number/msid has to be programmed.
2. Metro PRL Flashed
3. after step two you now have talk/text.
4. Program in 3G Profile 0/1.
5. Program PPP data profile.
6. Done. Only thing I skipped is MMS.. which will most likely be covered by a custom metro rom.. tho maybe you could take the mms ap out of the custom rom to use... but im just guessing at this point.

Nope, still no go... Hmm Maybe I'll uninstall drivers and reinstall them. Problem is my PC isn't recognizing phone as a drive, just a device.
Yeah I dunno, gonna give up installing EL13+CWM for now and go get it flashed.
I think the problem is, when I connect the device I get "Samsung Mobile MTP Device Failed"
I downloaded the Samsung USB/Android drivers [USB/Android] and have Kies installed (Kies can't even recognize it though).

Your MSL code entered at the dialer with the "#" brings up a menu in which you can edit. I used this with a sprint tech when trying to fix my gps

Hmmm... I'm stuck on this step :
USB Storage Mode is OFF - [Drag down the notification bar and tap on "USB Connected" - should be off by default]
When I click on USB Connected it just sends me back to Home. Any ideas?

Maybe you need USB debugging enabled by going to Settings > Applications > Development

Thanks, but no go. Have debugging checked. (I followed the tutorials to the letter)
youre trying to root?
I successfully rooted with the full restore, what I tried to do next was install EL13+CWM and I noticed 2 things:
1st) I can't get past this step: USB Storage Mode is OFF - [Drag down the notification bar and tap on "USB Connected" - should be off by default - pic] (ie when I tap on "USB Connected" it just takes me back to the home screen.
2nd) I continued with the tutorial since it says it should be set correctly as default, but then when the E4GT automated rooting package (not to root, but to install EL13+CWM) it hangs saying "Waiting for device to be connected"
When looking for an answer I discovered this:Why is the install stuck waiting for device to be connected? which gave me some ideas to try, although I've tried all of them to no avail.
I should note that when I go to start->run->devmgmt.msc this:
Code:
Android Phone
SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface
Modem
SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem
isn't listed there, like it says it should here.
I think I'm going to try to reinstall all the drivers again... Should I do this before or after connected the phone? (The first time I installed the USB/Android drivers from the tutorial before connecting my phone, but I notice after connecting the phone windows goes through the automated process of installing drivers)
<face palm>
http://androidadvices.com/enable-usb-storage-android-devices/
It was so simple, lol... To my own defense this wasn't anywhere in the tutorials
Thanks again for the help guys
EDIT: Well, looks like my problem is still here, the E4GT automated rooting package still hangs searching for device to be connected.
EDIT #2: Omg... Finally figured it out. I thought debugging was enabled (it shows a freakin' check mark) but it has to be a green check mark apparently...
Weee installed CWM, now to create a nandroid and start flashing! Think I'm going for Calkulin's rom with the ICS Theme
Another question!
Hey guys, question:
I got 2 E4GT's flashed over to MetroPCS, both are working fine, but one of them gives me this error on bootup:
Code:
Error 67: Registration failure. Your Sprint data service username
and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again.
Any ideas? Aside from the nuisance, it hasn't seemed to cause any hindrance to the features. The other phone has never given this error, though. Both are running on Calk's rom. Thx guys.

if its only at bootup i wouldnt worry too much. its just the firmware trying to get a sprint connection and it failing.. since youre connected to metro. i would check ##data# > view > data profile/username.. compare whats listed for the one thats working to the one thats giving the error. are they both the same? if not, make them the same and perhaps you can avoid the error. if they are the same... its probably some little data setting somewhere that the phone doesnt like and likely not worth the hassle of poking at it more. like i first said.. the error at boot really isnt a huge deal. if it was a constant error that kept popping up then its something to look at.

Flashing Epic to Boost, quick question before purchasing donor

I have been in the process of attempting to flash my Epic 4g to boost for about a week now (with very limited time each day). Thanks to the help of some awesome people here on the forum I have made quite a bit of progress. I have however, hit a wall. I am currently attempting to use a Samsung Replenish which I purchased with GB 2.3.6 pre-installed. I have gotten to the point where I need to extract the HA/AAA keys from the donor and it is locked down tighter than (insert random virgin joke here...). I have tried two methods, method 1- reading NV Items 465,466,1192, and 1194, this method gives me four text files, each of which say access denied toward the top and give me nothing but goose eggs. method 2- using QXDM typing password (spc) which works fine, I have the right SPC and it accepts it, but then when I type the requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof command (and I have tried prof 1 and prof 0) it says "error recieved from target". I am not familiar with anything more technical than what I explained, I know my way around these phones a bit and am technically savvy, but I do not know any code or anything like that.
I stated in my first post that I dont mind having to spend money to get my epic to boost but I would like to avoid it. With that being said, I would like to know if there is anything that I can try before pulling the trigger on a Sanyo Incognito (which to my understanding is one of the easier phones to use for this process). I have read that flashing back to froyo might help, but I cant find anything on flashing the Replenish back to Froyo as no one seems to want to do it. If anyone has any advice on flashing back to Froyo or anything else that I can try to get those keys I would be eternally grateful (well maybe for a day or two, after that I'd probably forget...anyways...)
thanks in advance for any help!!
Even though you're trying to flash an Epic 4G, this question is more applicable to a Replenish forum (if there is one), where people have experience reading these NV items on that particular model.
Some things to try:
Try first sending "password 01F2030F5F678FF9" in QXDM. (I wouldn't be surprised if this password did not work for the Replenish. Some Samsung devices have unique passwords.)
Try DFS CDMA Tool.
Try reading /nvm/num/ in QPST EFS Explorer.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, this phone isn't very popular...especially in the hacking/flashing community so my resources are limited, I did not see a thread dedicated to this phone on here. I tried using the password that you gave me and it did accept it but did not change my result. I also tried using efs explorer and each file that I save/view says secret and nothing else....
Usually reading EFS is blocked until you send the 16 digit password, but it sounds like you did that already. Sorry, I've never used a Replenish, so I'm not sure what else to do.

NP thanks anyway, I went ahead and bought an Incognito. I got a deal on ebay, for a nonfunctional unit with guaranteed ESN as well as USB capabilities for $35, the dealer sells them specifically for the purpose of donor/flashing. Guess I'll have to wait a few more days for an almost fully functional Epic...At least now I get to play around with some roms and fine tune that sucker to my exact liking
One more quick question though, When I get the phone, should I transfer my boost account to it BEFORE I flash the epic? or can I just flash it, call from the epic and transfer it all that way?
You need to have the incognito on boost first. When you transfer the account to incognito they will program the phone for you. I would suggest you to talk to a live person at boost when you activate the incognito. Write down the spc code and mdn number. This will save you some time. After that everything else should be easy. Program the epic with the information from incognito.

LG LS-980 Sprint to NET10 driving me crazy!!!!!

Hello,
First, let me express my deepest thanks in advance for those of you who may be of assistance. I have visited this site many times over the years when I needed to find the answers to smartphone related issues (mostly rooting..etc). I have usually found the information that I needed via reading posts and trial and error; however, I am having a problem that I cannot find the answer to and it is frustrating the crap out of me.
So, here goes:
I bought a LG LS980 off of Ebay. It was locked to Sprint and I had a friend of mine root it (since I couldn't figure it out and it ended up being that the firmware had to be downgraded since a patch was bumped to it) and unlocked (or so i was told, but I do not know how to find out). It is currently running Cyanogenmod 12.1. I wanted to use my old phone's SIM and pop it into my new phone so that I could enjoy it (the old phone was a Nexus and ran hella slow). So, anyway.... I contacted NET10 customer support since that is my carrier and explained what I wanted to do. They let me know that as long as it is unlocked that I would be able to just swap the SIM into the new phone and should be good to go. They checked my IMEI and said that the phone was, indeed, compatible and as long as it is unlocked it should just be a matter of a simple ROM swap. Not the case. I put the SIM in and booted it up. It went from No Service to saying "Sprint" on the upper left hand corner. I try to make a call and it states that, "The code or number that I am dialing is incorrect, please try the code or number again". I looked this up on the internet and didn't find a focused answer. I talked to my friend and he stated that I may have to set up a new APN profile.
I have checked the APN settings on it and all of the APN profiles have the prefix "Verizon". I used this mini tutorial at http://forums.androidcentral.com/goo...-settings.html along with the NET10 settings to try and make a profile. Both of their workarounds don't seem to work. I can enter about half of the information and then either click BACK or SAVE and then the profile is gone. I am not sure this is the reason that my phone is not working, but I thought I would give it a try. I have also tried to use this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798566 as a loose guide, TWRP installed. Keep in mind that I believe that my firmware was rolled back to ZVE. and not ZVD. When I have tried to edit the build.prop values at the tutorial states it does not save. Also, there are two lines that are not even in my build.prop (ro.build.target_operator and persist.service.crash.enable). When I have tried to edit or add it adds them but does not save and definitely does not persist through reboot. I feel as if I am close to getting the phone to work, but I am unsure where to go from here. I really do NOT want to have to go back to a stock ROM and all of that because....well.... my friend did the rooting and installing of cyanogenmod and I don't want to risk undoing all of his work and having to pay $ to have it done all over again (I have rooted phones..etc, but this G2 was a MOFO because of the firmware patch for me). NET10 CS and TS was of no help and they gave me a ticket number (and to tell you the truth the are outsourced and I can't understand what their reps are saying). So, does anyone have any advice or threads that I can look at? Like I said, I feel as if it is close, but no matter what number I call it says that recording. I get no incoming calls (although it rings when listening to the incoming calling phone's speaker). I am also unable to send or receive SMS or MMS messages. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not the most technically savvy person, but I can answer your questions to the best of my ability and I am good at following directions. (I have about 5-6 phone root/ROMS under my belt and even 2-3 SPRINT to NET10 activations, but this one is just perplexing the crap out of me) . Could it be that the phone is not unlocked???? How do I check this??? Is there a way??? When I put in the NET10 SIM it never asked me for an unlock code so I am assuming that my friend unlocked it? I have also tried "Turn the phone ON and type 2945#801# If nothing happens, type 2945#802# or 2945#*803#" and no hidden menu appears asking for an unlock code.

LG G2 Sprint to Net 10 not working.... almost there...what am I missing????

You can unlock your Sprint phone for GSM but you can't activate it to Verizon or its MVNOs.
