Hey guys
So I bought this phone on Craigslist so I cannot have it replaced by verizon. When I got it I did a full wipe and reset. Then I installed franco's kernal and am currently running bugless beast with job 4.1.1.. The issue is that my signal is constantly disappearing or just poor in general.
I found a method that was supposed to fix this problem by raising the minimum CPU to 700mhz. But this did nothing.
Will installing a new radio help? If so which one do you recommend? Or am I just screwed?

I have found that using the stock 4.0.2 radios has helped me a lot. They have given me a 70% improvement in dropped signal and poor audio quality. Having said that its still way worse than any other 4g phone I have ever owned. Lol. (Bionic, revolution,Droid charge, Droid razr, rezound, thunderbolt)
PS I am on my second nexus, still does it.

Thanks! I'll try that

This is good news! Now my question is this. Once this update drops, will our best course of action be to go back to stock and update via ota? And then flash back to custom ROM? Or will flashing back to a custom ROM override the new baseband?

If the screenshot in that article means anything, the new update still has the FC04/FC05 radios. Maybe they tweaked the stock ROM a bit for better reception, but if that's the only change then the update won't help anyone running a Jelly Bean ROM. You'd be forced to go back to stock for the better reception.

I have extensive knowledge on this issue its your baseband version if its 09 your good your radio will be great. You have 10. Check under your settings and you will see. Its under baseband version in about phone. Good news is you can return to Verizon.just don't tell them u bought it on Craigslist. I returned mine off CL.

Nope the store can't do anything for you. You have to call tech support and say you have a horrible data issue. Then they will mail you a new one. Return to factory before you call that way if they ask questions regarding , build number, etc. you'll have it to read .

Based upon this sentence, I question your "extensive knowledge". I'm running with an i515.09 hardware revision and have garbage reception.
It's a per phone basis.
I have zero signal issues.

Compared to other nexus's or are you in a bad reception area? I'm not gonna argue w you but I went through 8 replacement nexus and the only one that worked was a 09 and based off EXTENSIVE internet research that seems to be the case w almost everyone.

I've had the signal problem with both the 9 and 10. My first phone was a 10 with no problems. I have a 9 now with no problems, but had both with problems in between.
One work around I found was to switch to cdma only. Not great to not have 4g but at least data works and no dropped calls.

That's very odd cause on the 8 replacements I went through, none ever had no problems , the problems were consistent. That's odd that you had a phone with no problems and it started acting up. The 10 and 9 are made in different places from what I've been told from Verizon, and the 09 supposedly dont have the radio issue. Out of all the replacments I got, the first one (and only) to work was a 09 from Korea.

Hi, I currently have a Galaxy note II , and it has been working perfectly fine.I have owned it since new and i bought it sim free. I decided to sell it to a friend and just before handing it over , i did a factory reset to make it as new. But now it does not recognise his sim , or even mine which worked perfectly fine before i did this. Surely it cant be a hardware issue as it was working literally minutes ago. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Definitely try to factory reset it again. It happened to me once on my s3. It might help.. or maybe not but it surely won't hurt to try

I got the same problem, its due to the DoCoMo unlock.
I actually deleted my .efs folder so I know I can't recover mine, but if you haven't then yours may be saved.
Unless the phone was shipped from DoCoMo
i dont know which carpet is EFS, the carpet with the imei is named "factory" i guess, what can i do??? btw the im not a root user.
Hello? Anyone?

i did search , but couldnt find much
i have a sprint note 2 rooted with carbon rom , 3g works fine , but 4g there is no signal , there no connection to the server ,
is there anything i can do to fix this
or anyone recomend any rom that has 4g working ?
You need to clean flash an earlier build of carbon Rom. Something on or before 9/25.
You can try changing the apn settings and see if you get 4g to work.
My playstore and and Pandora isn't working on any of the builds any ideas as to why... Only works over WIFI connection...

Have you tried to flash to stock rom, hands free activate and clean flash the latest carbon nightly?
I figured out the problem it was the gapps I was using. For some reason the latest 4.3 ones aren't working for me. Reflashed ROM and previous gapps and back to normal.

Any progress on Multitasking?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What about multitasking?
Also, what gapps did you use to get everything working ?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk
You know... Multitasking like stock. The gapps used were jb-20130726 did a clean flash of the Rom and Gapps.
Sadly after many years of being a Sprint user I decided to move on to Verizon and the New Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Just couldnt deal with thw crappy data & no 4G Lte while paying for it.
I'm currently Rooted but no Recovery developed yet for Verizon's version.
So... If any one is interested in a barely used, no physical scratches, protected by Outter Box Defender, Rooted with Carbon Rom hit me up. Selling it for $399.99 in its original packaging with everything. Buyer will not be disappointed.

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Google wallet hasn't worked on any T-Mo device yet.
They partnered with ISIS so I doubt it would have been enabled in this.
I can't wait to flash the new fnb4 baseband I hope that I get better signal.

I was able to install Google wallet from the play store, turn on NFC, log in and could do a tap and pay transaction at CVS.
This isn't working for anyone else?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
I think people are just confused about how to do Tap and Pay. Under NFC (in settings) is Tap and Pay. Install Google Wallet from the Play Store and you should be able to go through the Tap and Pay Setup. You should then see Google Wallet as an option in the NFC meeting.

Reset?
Just got this phone a couple of days ago, and did the OTA update to kitkat last night. I used to get 4g at home with my Galaxy S2 but with the S4 only Edge. Even when I force wcdma i can't get data. Any ideas? Is it suggested to do a factory restore after doing an OTA update like this? Or is the antenna just week? Thanks!

If you are stock and its brand new I would just try a qick factory reset just in case. If othing happ3ns return it its brand new. Must be a hardware issue.

Factory Reset
I know I had issues with my GS4 trying to update to the new KitKat OTA, I came from a non TW rom and had to downgrade my phone to an original 4.2 ROM (4.3 ROM made everything worse probably due to the BB trick to update to MK2). After Odin flashing to a 4.2 I then did an OTA to 4.3 then 4.4 and all was perfect. I did try to factory reset the 4.3 but still had strange issues. I then downloaded the ChainFire Root file and Odin flashed it, removed the Knox and I am working beautiful.
Considering my flash counter is @ 30 I will most likely change again soon but I am enjoying a little TW action for now.
If this is helpful great, If I put it in the wrong spot I apologize. New to this posting gig.
