Hi, I currently have a Galaxy note II , and it has been working perfectly fine.I have owned it since new and i bought it sim free. I decided to sell it to a friend and just before handing it over , i did a factory reset to make it as new. But now it does not recognise his sim , or even mine which worked perfectly fine before i did this. Surely it cant be a hardware issue as it was working literally minutes ago. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Definitely try to factory reset it again. It happened to me once on my s3. It might help.. or maybe not but it surely won't hurt to try

Here's what has happened....
I purchased my SGS2 Saturday April 14th, I rooted it same day, I flashed TDJ Warefare. I noticed on the 4th day after getting my phone my calls started to drop like crazy. Like every other call was dropping or they couldn't hear me. So I called Tmo they walked me through troubleshooting, that didn't help. Took it back to the store where I purchased it this past weekend the sales rep said it sounds like it's a bad sim card. Ok so they changed my sim (of course I rooted again tried Jugganuats this time) and the phone was working fine until yesterday it starting dropping calls. SO I took the phone back and they switched it with a new one.
I would like to know from you all should I try rooting again?
Please don't flame me for asking this question or if it's in the wrong section of the forum.
I would just like your honest opinion as to what If I should or not and if I do, is there a solution to the dropped calls????
Thanks all
Rooting has nothing to do with your dropped calls. your first phone was defective.

I did I have a new one now. I was asking should I root again? I just don't want my calls to start dropping again.
Let me ask you since it's not the rooting what do you think it could be??
Did you do a factory reset before taking it back?

Rooting will not affect the signal or radio. Would suggest that, stay on stock ROM for a week or so and see if you get drop calls. If not, then try another ROM and if you get drop calls after that so it has to do with the ROM.

Sometimes its the simplest things, but make sure your SIM is in the right way or just reinsert it. Make sure data is enabled and you have an APN

You should probably exchange it if you within the warranty period. It might be defective

Had this happen to me not too long ago. Tried everything. Ended up having to do a warranty exchange. The phone lost signal one day while I was using it and it never got it back. I had the phone in this state for almost 2 weeks while I used a back up phone and it never got signal back so I sent it off. Now my new phone has a defective microphone.
Hi all,
I know this seems to be a wide spread problem and I've read through several threads hoping to fix the problem but nothing seems to be really working for me :/
This first happened while I was running 4.0.3. Wifi was working fine. Then one day when I went to switch it on like I normally ever would, it seemed to get stuck at the "Turning Wi-Fi on..." message. Reboots didn't help anything.
So I decided to upgrade to 4.1.1 thinking that doing a factory reset and flashing a new ROM would fix things. Flashed Paranoid Android ROM with no problems (wiped data, dalvik cache, etc etc) and saw the same problem with wifi when I tried turning it on. Reboot did nothing. Tried flashing the boot.img manually and that did nothing. Tried flashing Trinity kernel and once again nothing.
Can anyone help me out? This is really killing me and I think it's also destroying my phone's battery life as well
My Galaxy Nexus is GSM yakju if that helps out at all.
Thanks!!
This was also my problem... except my phone rebooted every 2minutes... I just flashed stock everything and then sent it to Samsung

Bump.
So any other suggestions other than dead wifi chip?
Unfortunately, your phones WiFi chip is dust! Same thing happened to me! Did some research and found out that its a known issue! Sent mine in and received a new Gnex four days later!

How does this work exactly? Do you need a receipt or anything? I'm guessing I need to flash back to stock rom and unroot? And probably call or talk to Samsung to get it set up? Any other details I'm missing?
Thanks!

Well for me, I bought GNEX from someone else and I had to ask the guy to give me the receipt cuz Samsung wouldn't take it unless I show proof that the phone was from Canada (I live in canada)
Also I would recommend flashing to stock uprooting and re locking... Just in case

Well I guess you have to contact your friend. Also, if you can't get a support from Samsung (I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't help you...) I guess you have to go to any repair shop, since it looks like a hardware problem.

I bought a phone of a guy and I manually activated the phone the calls work and data on the spot, I didn't have enough time to check the phone and found it it was rooted...anyways I got everything back to stock sprint rom and reset the counter...now there is no internet. I have a feeling that he probably had it hooked up to boost because the data was working on the old rom. I already tried the wipe carriers setting and clean install and reset the counter...
Does anyone know how to go back from Boost to sprint?
You activated it on sprint the first time and it worked? If so nothong wrong. Please give us the details in your about phone section.

Did you enter the correct APN info? That's step one dude
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
If you activated it and it worked fine rooted it sounds like the phone was ok. Maybe you took a wrong step in flashing back to stock. Try going through hand free activation ##72786# and see if that does anything for you.

This sounds more like a phone issue and not that the guy ripped you off. If the phone cleared and activated correctly and now your having issues that's the risk you take when buying used. I recommend next time you buy on eBay or swappa to have a little protection after buying. Good luck.

Hello. I recently installed cyanogen mod 12 on my galaxy note 2 gt n7100. It was fine until one day when I turned it on, it started to act like a bricked phone and did the turning on and repeating thing. However, when I plug it into a charger it works fine. I flashed stock firmware and it didn't fix it. Can anyone help me with this weird brick please?
