hi i have a problem here i got the phone and it was stock T-mobile ROM then i rooted installed custom ROM but it never recognized my simcard it says searching thats it!please help i need to fix this!!
Sometimes its the simplest things, but make sure your SIM is in the right way or just reinsert it. Make sure data is enabled and you have an APN

You should probably exchange it if you within the warranty period. It might be defective
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Had this happen to me not too long ago. Tried everything. Ended up having to do a warranty exchange. The phone lost signal one day while I was using it and it never got it back. I had the phone in this state for almost 2 weeks while I used a back up phone and it never got signal back so I sent it off. Now my new phone has a defective microphone.

Here's what has happened....
I purchased my SGS2 Saturday April 14th, I rooted it same day, I flashed TDJ Warefare. I noticed on the 4th day after getting my phone my calls started to drop like crazy. Like every other call was dropping or they couldn't hear me. So I called Tmo they walked me through troubleshooting, that didn't help. Took it back to the store where I purchased it this past weekend the sales rep said it sounds like it's a bad sim card. Ok so they changed my sim (of course I rooted again tried Jugganuats this time) and the phone was working fine until yesterday it starting dropping calls. SO I took the phone back and they switched it with a new one.
I would like to know from you all should I try rooting again?
Please don't flame me for asking this question or if it's in the wrong section of the forum.
I would just like your honest opinion as to what If I should or not and if I do, is there a solution to the dropped calls????
Thanks all
Rooting has nothing to do with your dropped calls. your first phone was defective.

I did I have a new one now. I was asking should I root again? I just don't want my calls to start dropping again.
Let me ask you since it's not the rooting what do you think it could be??
Did you do a factory reset before taking it back?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Rooting will not affect the signal or radio. Would suggest that, stay on stock ROM for a week or so and see if you get drop calls. If not, then try another ROM and if you get drop calls after that so it has to do with the ROM.

Hi all,
I know this seems to be a wide spread problem and I've read through several threads hoping to fix the problem but nothing seems to be really working for me :/
This first happened while I was running 4.0.3. Wifi was working fine. Then one day when I went to switch it on like I normally ever would, it seemed to get stuck at the "Turning Wi-Fi on..." message. Reboots didn't help anything.
So I decided to upgrade to 4.1.1 thinking that doing a factory reset and flashing a new ROM would fix things. Flashed Paranoid Android ROM with no problems (wiped data, dalvik cache, etc etc) and saw the same problem with wifi when I tried turning it on. Reboot did nothing. Tried flashing the boot.img manually and that did nothing. Tried flashing Trinity kernel and once again nothing.
Can anyone help me out? This is really killing me and I think it's also destroying my phone's battery life as well
My Galaxy Nexus is GSM yakju if that helps out at all.
Thanks!!
This was also my problem... except my phone rebooted every 2minutes... I just flashed stock everything and then sent it to Samsung

Bump.
So any other suggestions other than dead wifi chip?
Unfortunately, your phones WiFi chip is dust! Same thing happened to me! Did some research and found out that its a known issue! Sent mine in and received a new Gnex four days later!

How does this work exactly? Do you need a receipt or anything? I'm guessing I need to flash back to stock rom and unroot? And probably call or talk to Samsung to get it set up? Any other details I'm missing?
Thanks!

Well for me, I bought GNEX from someone else and I had to ask the guy to give me the receipt cuz Samsung wouldn't take it unless I show proof that the phone was from Canada (I live in canada)
Also I would recommend flashing to stock uprooting and re locking... Just in case

Well I guess you have to contact your friend. Also, if you can't get a support from Samsung (I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't help you...) I guess you have to go to any repair shop, since it looks like a hardware problem.

got my replacement Epic today from Best Buy and everything is working EXCEPT there is no service, Yes it IS turned on YES it is rooted properly, and YES I AM about to smash the pos with a hammer, and go back to the pos Transform I have been using for the past three days.
Ummm...activation?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Did you change to the nexus modem?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It was activated at best Buy, No I didn't change the modem, I had no service before I rooted, I was hoping it was Sprints software, but alas its the phone itself, its going back to Best buy tomorrow for yet another three day wait for a replacement phone I was on chat with Sprint for an hour and the rep said the phone is a Epic failure
either way I'm stuck with a stock Transform for another week
Times like this make me miss my old CU400 ( dumb pos phone yes, but no software problems and it was a rock)

If it doesn't happen again it must be a glitch in the at&t system. Or you just needed to reboot your phone.

Im no pro, but if it's dropping and coming back in a couple hours I would say it's a network problem. Usually maintenance or an upgrade (maybe you'll be seeing lte soon

dropped data
i've also been having problems w/ dropped data. on the stock roms i don't have any problems but i prefer the aosp roms and it seems like everytime i've used a variant of an aosp rom, i would lose data intermittently. it's very frustrating b/c i really want to get away from a touchwiz based rom.
I've been having this issue for months now across multiple roms, both CM & TW. It just randomly drops the data connection for a few minutes & then it comes right back. It's so weird, I've had the same radio since June & it just started doing this in late July. I can only assume that Tmo is doing a lot of network upgrades or something.

I had the same problem when the upgrade that added LTE for T-Mobile came out. I went by the T-Mobile store and the guy said they were aware of the issue, but didn't exactly what was causing it, but something with the LTE. He said he has the same phone with a different brand of SIM card. He replaced my SIM with one of those and I have had no problems with losing connection since.
