PLEASE Help Got ripped off be a guy on Craigslist... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I bought a phone of a guy and I manually activated the phone the calls work and data on the spot, I didn't have enough time to check the phone and found it it was rooted...anyways I got everything back to stock sprint rom and reset the counter...now there is no internet. I have a feeling that he probably had it hooked up to boost because the data was working on the old rom. I already tried the wipe carriers setting and clean install and reset the counter...
Does anyone know how to go back from Boost to sprint?

You activated it on sprint the first time and it worked? If so nothong wrong. Please give us the details in your about phone section.

Did you enter the correct APN info? That's step one dude

If you activated it and it worked fine rooted it sounds like the phone was ok. Maybe you took a wrong step in flashing back to stock. Try going through hand free activation ##72786# and see if that does anything for you.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app

This sounds more like a phone issue and not that the guy ripped you off. If the phone cleared and activated correctly and now your having issues that's the risk you take when buying used. I recommend next time you buy on eBay or swappa to have a little protection after buying. Good luck.

[Q] What do you think??

Here's what has happened....
I purchased my SGS2 Saturday April 14th, I rooted it same day, I flashed TDJ Warefare. I noticed on the 4th day after getting my phone my calls started to drop like crazy. Like every other call was dropping or they couldn't hear me. So I called Tmo they walked me through troubleshooting, that didn't help. Took it back to the store where I purchased it this past weekend the sales rep said it sounds like it's a bad sim card. Ok so they changed my sim (of course I rooted again tried Jugganuats this time) and the phone was working fine until yesterday it starting dropping calls. SO I took the phone back and they switched it with a new one.
I would like to know from you all should I try rooting again?
Please don't flame me for asking this question or if it's in the wrong section of the forum.
I would just like your honest opinion as to what If I should or not and if I do, is there a solution to the dropped calls????
Thanks all
Rooting has nothing to do with your dropped calls. your first phone was defective.

I did I have a new one now. I was asking should I root again? I just don't want my calls to start dropping again.
Let me ask you since it's not the rooting what do you think it could be??
Did you do a factory reset before taking it back?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Rooting will not affect the signal or radio. Would suggest that, stay on stock ROM for a week or so and see if you get drop calls. If not, then try another ROM and if you get drop calls after that so it has to do with the ROM.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 - Data/4G not working

Got the phone two days ago.
Upgraded to ICS via Odin.
Root + CWM via Odin.
Flashed DARKSIDE.EVOLUTION.3 v8.
Didn't work for me personally.
Wiped cache and flashed aokp_hercules_build-M5_0xD34D.zip
Liked the ROM but noticed that signal bars were there but no data/4G.
Have been roaming the internet for hours now trying to figure out what went wrong.
All I can make sense is that something went wrong with the "radio kernel" or something like that.
If anyone can help me sort this problem out I would be extremely grateful. This phone was expensive and data plans are expensive, so I want to utilize both to their full potential. Thanks

I ordered two phones, the other was for a family member and theirs is working fine, even with ICS update, so there is no data outage problems in my area. As it turns out it was a defect in the phone. I contacted t-mobile and we went through this hour long procedure which produced no results. In the end, they asked if I would like to return the device or get a replacement. I opted for a replacement and so will be shipping it out soon. Lets hope the new phone doesn't go all unpredictable on me

[Q] How to Wipe Stock Note 2 for Re-sale?

Hi all, I'm planning to sell my Note 2 and want to be sure I've cleared all of my data. My phone is Rooted, but I've always been on the stock ROM from sprint.
So far I've:
- Formated SD card
- Factory Reset in TWRP
- Wiped Cache/Dalvik Cache
- Wiped Internal Storage in TWRP
I have NOT done a system wipe or 'Format Data'. I've researched and I understand this should be sufficient, should I take it further?

Thanks for the input Taylor_Swift, I noticed something troubling completely by accident. I don't know if this is related to the Note 2 only or not, but I'm unable to remove my personal phone number and sprint username from Settings>About Device>Status.
I've tried factory reset and even system reset in TWRP and I re-installed the Stock Deodexed Rom from the forums and this did not help. I'm wondering if you or anyone has heard of this and if I can manually remove the data myself?
The only thing I haven't done in TWRP is 'Format Data', I'm not sure that this will work or what it will do.

Your phone needs to be deactivated from sprint or whichever carrier it is linked to. Than the personal info is gone after a wipe. But if the the phone is active, it will always add your info regardless of the rom.

The phone had to be inactive and you need your prl. There is a dialer code you enter, that does a full wipe. Basically the phone is wiped as if it came out the box. I called and got directions when I sold my Evo 3d.

So they told me that since the service has been cancelled already, there's nothing that can be done to remove the information. When the next person that owns the phone activates it, it will reset. I feel like this isn't true, there has to be a way to do this with canceled service....

I think they are just Effing with you, since you no longer have an account. There is a dialer code, I just don't remember it. Try a Google search or if not, hit up a Sprint store. I imagine a Store Rep should know, especially if they have a repair center there.

If IMEI is intact, it's a T-Mobile issue. I was replying to say that I've had this issue before, once. I was going to call them to complain, but it was fixed in under 24 hours.

Happens to me here and there. sometimes I lose internet conection for 30min to and 1hour. I already called tmobile and told them bout it and how it started happening after they activated lte -.- they said its weird that it shouldn't be happening what should actually be happening is the data speeds geting faster. All they did is reset my data conection and gave me $5 credit for 6months:banghead:

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Iv tried flashing stock via odin and it didn't help :/ so I called and got a replacement so far it hasn't happen anymore the thing that sucks is that the replacement I received is defective the home button is not sticking out how its supose to so I called and place another order but they are out of stock I kinda got upset when I was told I would have to wait like bout a week or so to receive my replacement so I asked if later on the road the home button started giveing me problems was I allowed to exchange for a replacement I wss told yes so I cancelled it cuz I could live with my phone like that not really a big thing
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Sometimes if you press the issue they will replace it with a comparable model. They certainly have the T999L in stock if you want to ask if that's a possibility. Dont expect it to work, but could be worth a shot...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I called T-Mobile but they just reset the lines well that's what they said.
And nothing still the same data drops, iam going to try odin flash and I would see if that helps
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
If the flash doesn't help, wait another day or two and call back if it doesnt improve. Tell them you'd like to have a help ticket escalated because their last attempts did not help. Just try to get them to put you in contact with a tech who has the ability to deal with things on a more specific level. Most likely you only got the first level of support. They don't have many permissions to deal with a lot of issues. A lot if them are told that account resets will fix everything it seems like!
Hopefully though, things will jusy improve as they work on towers and upgrades.

I wouldn't know what happens if you're going through T-Mobile but I assume you'll be fine if you're polite and explain you don't know what's going on, insist you've been with T-Mobile because of their excellent support if they make a big deal about it. Asurion the insurance company working with T-Mobile will take it anyways because they just fix it and that's it and resell it. And because you pay a monthly bill they're making money off of you regardless and you still have to pay a deductible.
But you SHOULD really return to stock.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4
If they see that the phone is rooted, they'll just simply do nothing for you. That's why people say "your warranty is now void".
Do what is mentioned above or take your chances and hope the T-Mobile rep that is assisting you doesn't check to see if the phone is rooted or check the flash counter.

Oh, simple enough then! Just go to SuperSU and unroot.
You could even try to temp unroot if you think that's all you'd need to do to hide it.

What's the problem with the battery?
I like the features I get with my stock build, but I'm considering a root for better control over my apps, (Greenify, permission control) so this thread seems like a relevant question.
Is Triangle Away and unrooting all it takes to make it appear that I haven't done anything?
The warranty issue is the only thing stopping me, it's saved me a bunch in the past...

I rooted my phone once, but I will never do it again after what happened. Last year I rooted my GS3 and about a week later, my local T-Mobile store called my phone unexpectedly. The guy on the other end told me I was due for a price drop, but I would have to come into the T-Mobile store to sign the paperwork before it would take effect. 2 days later I stopped in to get the discount on my monthly payment. The T-Mobile employee said he would have to look at my phone just to verify that it was the correct serial number. He went into the back room and said he would be back in a few minutes. 10 minutes later, a police officer walks in the store and asks my name. I'm totally freaked out wondering what the deal is. He asks me to turn around a puts hand cuffs on me. The officer told me I was under arrested and being charged with "rooting a mobile device". I was booked and released, but I would watch what you do to your phone. Good luck.

Rooting a device isn't illegal. They can kiss my ring. Think about it, if it was illegal why are root apps allowed on Google Play? And also, why is XDA not been shut down?
Methinks something else happened there. Maybe you voided their warranty and tried getting a discount which may be against the rules. Or something. But I know for a fact this is legal. Unlocking is a different story however.
So my advice, root on my brothers it's the only damn freedom we have left here in America.
