Well, is there?
I want to know this too. Can't see giving up a major feature like HDMI out.
Also, is there a ROM beside stock ROM which has IR blaster working?
According to the latest commit of V500 CM11 repo, it should be working now.

But I can't test for now cause I don't have Slimport cable.

Indeed. It definitely works, and to be sure I just watched a YouTube video, fullscreen, on my TV. It took a bit to establish a connection, going through some "unknown format" phases, but it connected allright and was perfectly stable and smooth.

Yes, I did, and it works. To be fair, I stayed on Malladus for some weeks, because it was the only rom with proper hdmi streaming.

Wow, truly interesting! Which cable did you use? Would it be possible to see a demonstration? :cyclops:
I have mentioned that in the G Pad Accessories Forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569809&page=2
I bought one in Hong Kong !
It's NOT an Adapter, it's a direct micro USB to HDMI male plug Cable !!! with optional micro usb plug for charging !!!
HKD - $200 = around USD $25 - 26
Well... I don't want to setup my HTC One and shoot video of my LG G Pad and my 27" Dell Monitor.
What I did is, just plug in the HDMI and micro USB, and it works, it do take around 2 seconds to display the G Pad content on the Monitor.
But it run smoothly afterwards. with sound output from through HDMI also.

That's weird. You're saying that you're seeing direct HDMI out with a micro USB to HDMI cable? I didn't think that the G Pad was capable of that. What rom are you using?
Can you give us a picture of just the cable?

I am just sharing my own experience, and you don't believe it ?
maybe I missed something, I am using a SLIMPORT to HDMI CABLE !!!! Male micro USB plug to Male HDMI Plug !!!

Slimport micro USB to HDMI Cable !!!
Any Special settings needed in CM11?
This cable does not work on the 20 Jan CM11. Unless there are some special settings.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009LAZG2M/
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AWHPGJQ/ (Using this only when using S3)
EDIT: I flashed back to rooted Stock and the cable does not work with that ROM either.
The cable does work with KitKat in OG Galaxy Nexus (ShinyROM) and with Galaxy S3 with CleanROM 7 (based on Samsung Stock).
Looks like the G Pad is very picky which cable works. This is a drawback of the LG I guess.

You are using an MHL cable... The G Pad has a Slimport, not MHL port.
Thanks, This explains the difference. http://blog.clove.co.uk/2013/11/07/mhl-v-slimportwhat-is-the-difference/

You did miss something. You didn't describe it as a Slimport adapter. You said that it wasn't an adapter but a direct micro USB to HDMI cable. That's not the same thing as a Slimport adapter. Now, you are contradicting yourself by saying that it is, indeed, a Slimport adapter and not a direct micro USB to HDMI cable. I'm sure that this is just a language issue on your part, but maybe you can see why I was confused by your post.

Hello folks,
I found this dock on the mobilefun website.
It says it has HDMI, and i'm verry curious if this realy works! Did someone bought this, or can somebody confirm that this dork works?
Or should i buy this dock instead and buy a MHL cable with it to connect it to my TV?
No, it seemed not to be compatible with any case, so I won't buy~~~

I would buy the 1st one with HDMI built-in if your going to output to these device types. The 2rd unit is good for chaging a second battery.
What the OP was saying its not suited for them as it will not fit with a case on the SGS2. in the dock!
Thanks for the link as I was just about to place an order for the 2rd unit...

I think with this genuine samsung battery cradle dock you just have to use a 5pin mini usb to hdmi cable
sent from my 2.3.3|dxkg3 DJGalaxy S2
I saw that dock the other day too and Im very tempted, just need to wait until pay day at the end of the week!
If you're going to be using an MHL cable, I think you might as well buy that dock, works out cheaper than buying a dock and MHL cable separately, plus it looks kinda cool
Really want to read a review of it though as well, if anybody has bought one, any info would be massively appreciated.
well, ive bought a spare battery so the 2-in-1 charger would be verry handy, but on the other side, a dock with hdmi output would be awesome to, i just dont know if it works because the dock should have an "build-in mhl system" if you know what i mean.. so im waiting till someone reviews the first dock i posted

I was about to order the original Samsung MHL > HDMI adapter from Amazon, but I'll hold off on the order as what I really want is a dock that has it build it..
Thanks and sorry if this has been answered already ( I have been searching t'internet for a few hours for an answer.. )

i ordered one from nicecans last night, its £17.99 delivered and seems Kidigi branded and looks the same one from OP first link. says stock from 11th Oct so will see if it actually comes through.
Thanks Zulm,
I'd be interested if you can post a quick review when you get it, hopefully you'll have it in a day or 2.
I've just had a look on their site and it does look very nice and if it works for you, then I'll get the same one.

Hmm nothing today either. I wish I had searched for the retailer before ordering, they don't sound the most trusted deliverer of goods!

Just a warning for anyone else!
Well well wonders never cease, it turns up today!
..it works! Come with a USB and power adapter but this doesn't have to be used I connected it to my Dell monitor via a standard USB cable that came with the S2. My Dell has no sound out so could not test that and it is only 1680x1050 native res but HMDI did work. I will test on my Sony TV later on and see how that goes.
---------- Post added at 02:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:02 PM ----------
Few annoying things I've found already
- when connected via HMDI to a non-native 1080p display it seems to constantly try to sync with the display with the picture disappearing for a few second then reappearing. It doesn't seem to stabilize even after leaving it for a while. This happens on my Dell monitor and my Sony HDTV (D4000) when connected via HDMI both are non-1080p devices. On my other Samsung 1080p TV the TV-out picture is solid and stable and doesn't have these sync issues. I guess this is probably the case for all MHL cables out there and not necessarily a problem with this dock but problem with firmware/software? Is there TV out configuration tool that can be used to sort these HMDI sync issues?
- the USB on the dock is for charge only - it doesn't get recognized on your PC when connected by USB.

The PC doesn't recognize it all, on the back of the dock it says "DC in 5V" - so I assume the USB is used to power the dock only.

No, what it is is a special USB OTG adapter that has three connectors, a micro USB plug to plug into the host device, a USB socket to plug in the peripheral device, and a micro USB socket to plug in a charger. It also supplies a special resistance on the ID pin to the host device to let it know that a charger is connected so the host does not supply a voltage on the VBUS. Without this special adapter with the ID pin resistance, the host will supply a voltage to power the peripheral which will not work with the charger on the VBUS. Thus this special adapter is needed. This is defined in the USB OTG and Battery Charging specs, but so far it doesn't seem like anyone is manufacturing such a thing.

I have the SGS2 world version (GT-I9100). Does the micro-USB connector on the bottom align up with all the other variants of this phone (Tmo, AT&T, Sprint..ect)? Do all of those have the plug in the same place?
EDIT sorry the pic is so big. I didn't know that before I posted...
EDIT #2 Reading a quick review of the Menotek adapter on Amazon, one of the complaints was its limitation of 720p output. Is that true? Cant the SGS2 output in 1080p?
Personally i'd just buy the cheapest MHL adaptor you can find. It's just a cable so why pay a fortune for it.
It's not just a cable -- there are some electronics inside (that's why they need a charger input).
Have you ordered one yet? I'd be interested in knowing which is the best option and weather there's any reason to avoid the really cheap ones?
gonna grab myself a cheap one of these adaptors and get my emulator groove on, on the big screen.. though god knows how gba games are going to look at 32inches...probably not great.
No.is only cable.
I got official samsung and it is working fine
I have the first one, if your phone is not in airplane mode the screen on your tv often goes completely black. You have to reconnect the mhl cable to display the screen on your tv again. Annoying when watching videos but putting your phone into airplane mode fixes this completely.
Quality is great, downloading a movie and watching it looks incredible, full HD. However if you plan on watching youtube videos on your TV, I suggest you download the app TubeMate, it allows you to stream YT videos in a much higher quality than the standard app.

Quoting from Wikipedia here:
"The built-in RCP (Remote Control Protocol) function allows you to use the Remote Control of HDTV to operate the MHL mobile device through HDTV’s CEC function."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-definition_Link
MHL Adaptor
I bought one a few days ago from Amazon.co.uk, offical Samsung for £14.99 with free delivery, bargain in my opinion.
You have to connect the Samsung charger to power it (although i haven't tested it without the charger to see if it still works). The phone battery seems to drain really fast with the MHL outputting via HDMI, and gets a little warm also, both cores doing their bit no doubt.
Have to say i'm very happy with, and the CEC function (if your tv supports it) is the icing on the cake. With it, you can use your tv's remote (or any ALL in One as in my case [Logitech]) to control the phone navigation, you can play games using the remotes d-pad, and use it to click on items in the menu, or on the internet, rewind, pause and fast forward videos.
I too had the screen blacking out on me as one person mentioned earlier, espcially when playing games, I'll try and see what flight mode does for it, but my conclusions where a less than perfect HDMI cable, as when i tested it on my brothers tv it worked flawlessly without a single blackout (Using a HDMI cable supplied with his SKY+ box).
Might have to buy one of these but i'm still looking for a solution to sending audio NOT over the HDMI since I don't have a HDMI input on my monitors, only DVI. Either over analogue 3.5mm out or bluetooth would be fine!
I think the reason it drains the battery still is because it is using the data pins to send the video. For fast charge these pins would usually be shorted and you can't have both. (That's my understanding anyway!)
I have bought on ebay 1 cable mhl + 1 cable micro usb --> USB femal for only 15€
But the max resolution of mhl is 720p
Cheap MHL cable
I bought my MHL cable from deal extreme for around $13.00. Not only did i get a samsung branded (probably fake) MHL cable, it came with a USB OTG cable and a USB retractable cable too. So far, all 3 seems to work fine and not too expensive

Personally i'd just buy the cheapest MHL adaptor you can find. It's just a cable so why pay a fortune for it.

I actually did by the cheapest MHL adapter I could find on ebay and it works like a charm. Cost me around 6 € including shipping.
hi guys.
why cant we use the camera app when using the MHL function?...is it a hardware restriction?...i was using cm9 and when i start the camera with the adapter plugged in then close the camera app ,for a second the camera screen shows up on the tv.....if its hardware restricted then it would not do that at all...
on my mhl cable only outputs 1080i,is it adaptors fault?

Just curious if anyone knows how to do this. I have a usb to hdmi adapter which I used for hdmi out on the stock Rom, but I have not figured out a kernel/Rom or program which lets me use it on aosp. Any help would be appreciated.

I have mhl cable and it works with vanilla rootbox.
Works for me as well but I'm only getting 720p output for games and apps, haven't tried vids yet, but can anyone confirm that they get 1080p while running an app or game?

I'm using rootbox myself and the cable I use isn't working. Is the cable you're using one continuous cable, or is it an adapter which u plug a usb cable into one end which changes the other end to hdmi?
Its a straight through with battery supply. Got it off amazon for $13
Mine has a slot for a usb charger. Fuzzy does your cable output 1080p for games and apps?
I will get back to you on that after I put my son to bed

That sounds like the same cable I'm using. But mine doesn't output anything. Is there a setting on the ROM somewhere I'm missing to make it display?

I didn't do anything except plug it in and checked out movie I have on phone and I DL HD game from playstore and everything worked. If you go to amazon and search for mhl cable. the one I have has spot to plug in charge to mhl cable and like I said b4 was like $13.

Is this the same cable you're using? I got this one from Amazon myself in November when I bought my phone.

Never mind, I got mine to work. Seems it needs the power supply attached for it to work on aosp. But I remember using it without the power supply on stock, oh well as long as it works I'm cool.

Yes, it does. You have to go to the Storage Menu and Enable OTG though.
OTG should work in principle, however propably only with a cable from Oneplus. It does not work with a OTG cable from Anker (just tested it).
Hmm, so this is strange. I have a Sandisk OTG enabled USB drive that I just connected to the OP2 using the OnePlus Micro-USB to Type C adapter. Worked perfectly to backup all my stuff from the old phone. I unplugged here and connected it as is to the OnePlus 3 and it doesn't work. Reconnecting to the OP2 works fine, all of the data shows up on PC also, but just won't show up on the OP3. Very strange, still trying to figure this out.

That is exactly what my doubt is.. I too have read that plugging in the dual otg drive via adapter doesn't works... If someone can put some light on this, we will be grateful
i purchased this Dash Micro G3 Type-C: Mini MicroSD Card Reader and it works great so far, i am mainly using it as a back up, it comes with a cool little keychain so i have when i need it, pretty compact too, does seem kinda slow, its only transfering at 15MB/s i know the sd card is way faster than that, but it works.

Well, for me the following Anker product works like charm:

I tried it again and you're right... My cable has a extreme tight fit at the connector so I was a bit afraid to push it in with full force. Now I did and it moved in a tiny bit more.
Now it is working fine. So thanks @MagDag for your reply and I can now confirm that the Anker cable works fine too.
Hah indeed - it's really tight fit... I also was very careful in the beginning because I don't wanted to destroy my phone.

Same here. Using OnePlus USB C to micro USB adapter and Sandisk OTG USB drive. It does not seem to detect the OTG drive

Sadly this is not available at Amazon India
i doubt, that the phone actually recognizes the cable itself... however it will depend on how much juice the target device needs vs what the phone provides...

The OnePlus 2 type-C to micro-USB adapter is a non-standard thing. It was required for the OP2 because the OP2 type C USB is broken.
Try a generic adapter. That's the real test. Generic adapters didn't work on the OP2.
Hmm, so on the OnePlus forums, this seems to be the consensus ... The OnePlus Adapter was for the non-standard Type C on the OP2 and will only allow charging on the OP3, but not OTG. So far, third party standards compatible adapters seem to be working fine. I just ordered the Xiaomi Type C adapter and should get it in a week. Will post here again if it works.

I bought this one from Skiva https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0140YRZDQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And use it with a cruze usb 3, the only drawback is that is taking forever to see some mp4 videos recorded from a gopro that are saved in the USB
I bought this and it works perfectly: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351729709215?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I can confirm the Xiaomi Type C Micro USB adapter does NOT work for OTG. Yes, I had OTG enabled, no go!
I'm not seeing an option to enable usb otg in settings/storage. I'm on Oxygen 3.1.3. Am I just missing it? Do I need to unlock developer options first?

Nvm. Found it in the 3 dot menu. Ravpower usb otg works.

Is there any cable which would allow you to charge and read an external flash drive? Never tried OTG before, so I don't know if this is even possible.
