I just bought a new Note 10.1 2014 edition, everything works fine, except the battery takes 30 hours to charge to 100%!
The screen was off the entire time it was charging, but the device was still on, in airplane mode, with power saving mode on and the gps was off.
I'm using the stock samsung charger I got with it, but with a american-european converter, although I don't think that should matter, because on the box it said it could take over 10A, and the stock samsung charger is 2.0A.
The device doenst register the charger as a USB or anything, it realizes that it's charging via AC.
Is my cable, samsung charger or converter just dirty/broken? or is there something wrong with the device?
ps, I have Cleanrom 2.0 installed, and use some Gravity Box tweaks

If you have the Snapdragon P605 , then this should take around 3-4 hours for full charge from 0%, while Exynos processors P600/601 normally takes 5-6 hours charge time.
So probably you have a defected or malfunctioning charger or cable , try charging without the converter & see if the case is still the same , then that will be either a faulty cable or charger.

I'm using the stock cable. I usually cut my device off to charge.

I have p600 and the charge from 5/6 to 100% is about 4 hours

It does if you have a P-605 with Qualcomm's QuickCharge feature. See the pretty little stylized "A" in the upper left corner of the graphic I posted? It's the AnandTech logo. They don't lie and have been performing objective standardized tests on mobile devices longer than you've been an XDA member (2007). If my choice is believing their 7 hours and your "4-5 hours tops" guess who I and most people here are going to believe? And my P-601 does take about 7 hours to charge which is a hella long time especially when you're traveling.

LOL, I'm literally timing mine as I type this - I will report back the exact time it takes from 5% to 100% - Using the standard wire and socket Samsung provided. Curios if people timed their devices if they would all be the same time frame - I know my first tablet took something around 6hrs to fully charge will see what this one is like.
mine charges at 21-24% per hour up until 80% where the trickling starts. at that point it constantly takes 90 minutes to top it off. i doubt that anand lies, but he's only testing one sample and he's reporting what he gets from it. mine takes 4-5hrs depending on how frisky the tablet feels in taking some juice.
i don't have any logs so bmw pro but if i ever remember to let it drop down so i can get a long charge logged i try and post it.
it's not like any of us are gaining any internet fame by reporting a 5hr charge or getting any pay.
cables do affect the charge rate a lot. so if you get less than 5hrs then check another cable. this this is very pick on the cable for some reason.

Holy crap. Just like the Exynos/S-800 N3, the Exynos/S-800 N10.1-14's use different charging circuitry and get very different results. AnandTech tested an Exynos P-600. Like my Exynos P-601 it takes 7 hours to charge from 0-100%. People with S-800 N10.1-14's have been reporting getting a full charge in 5ish hours which is about the percentage difference between the two different N3's. You'll also notice the second runner up in longest charging time is the Exynos-based N10 which, like the N10.1-14, uses a microUSB port to charge. If you adjust for the smaller battery, the Exynos N10.1-12 with a 30pin connector charges about 20% faster than the N10.1-14 with a USB charging port. N10 owners that bought the optional pogo pin charging module have been able to shave about 30ish% off their charging time which means it's not the battery or SoC causing prolonged charging times via USB on the N10.1-14 and N10.
Conclusion?
The P-605 is one of the fastest (if not the fastest) large format tablets.
The P-600/1 are slugs which is probably as much due to microUSB as a charging port rather than what the battery/SoC can handle as evidenced by the N10's improved performance when using pogo pins.
P.S. - Here's the N10's charging graph (via USB) and it's pretty linear. So Samsung (who builds the N10) may have done something in terms of faster charging mid-charge for the N10.1-14 but if they have that power they certainly didn't apply it on the N10.

Their belligerently calling people liars and making it seem that people posting different result are daft. If you can dish it out you should be able to take it. But seriously, this thread's very poorly named as it doesn't identify that only the P-600/1 are slow charging. I knew that from other discussions already had on this forum. So, while maybe a tad belligerent in their approach, people that didn't know there were differences between the Exynos and S-800 versions of the N10.1-14, could have assumed they were the same.
Here's the difference between a device using Qualcomm's P4981 dedicated charging module (QuickCharge) and a device using standard charging circuitry. Pretty impressive. Numbers below are for a 3,300mAh battery. And the dedicated charging circuit is what makes charging via USB mute on S-800 devices.
Okay here are my charging results which I have timed.

So charge time of 5 Hrs - like its been said, it charged very fast till 85% then slowed right right down!
Mind you I did not use the tablet at any point apart from lifting the book cover to see progress. Personally I think the charge times is alright.
Here's a little food for thought from the SGS4 forum. It doesn't matter if the device being tested is Exynos or Qualcomm since QuickCharge was introduced with S-800.

My assumption on this, is possibly an effort by Samsung to avoid the scenario of sticking 1.5 amps down a flimsy cheapo cable, the wires of which will likely be too thin to carry it.
After doing some probing around with a meter, I have managed to find a slight difference with the charger itself, compared to a generic one. In a generic one, the two data pins are usually just shorted together, which tells most phones that it's a mains charger rather than a USB port. On the Samsung one on the other hand, the pins appear to be shorted together, and also connected via resistors across the supply line (known as a potential divider), which holds these shorted data pins at a certain voltage. This is what tells the phone what sort of charger it's connected to.
Attached are a couple of diagrams to show the difference between the two chargers. There are in fact various setups of resistors that different manufacturers use to set the charging current, so it's quite easy to run into compatibility issues!
To make this a little less confusing I have done some preliminary experimenting, and I set out my results here.
For the test, I used combinations of 4 different usb style mains chargers: an apple iPhone one rated at 1A, an iPad one rated 2.4A, an HTC 1A one, and the genuine S4 one. With these I used two cables - the supplied Samsung S4 one (which is shielded), and a cheap generic one (which isn't). I started by measured the charging current directly with a meter, by using a very short usb breakout lead I've made, enabling me to interrupt the 5V line. However, I soon noticed that the use of any extension cables, even shielded, can lessen the chance of maintaining a good shielding connection, so I continued the exercise relying on the "galaxy charging current" app to get a reading.

that's been my experience. i've gotta make sure that i have the right cable AND charger to get the full blast - using p600. the fastest charge comes from the stock charger and a car charger i have (powergen 2.1A). no charger has ever reached 2A and the highest i've ever seen is 1.6A.
regardless of the fact that one's tablet may charge a few hours faster than someone else's - five+ hours for a charge is waaaaaaayyyyy to freaking long! my samsung ativ 500t has about the same battery capacity but charges in 90min. the 700t charges in 2hrs. of course using 12V 3.3A charger is giving a lot more juice than a 2.3A 5V charger is, lol.
one thing i noticed is that occasionally, the trickle ( charging past 80%) would sometimes drop to 300MAh instead of the normal 600 to 900. if i catch it, i just unplug it and replug it and it's back to normal. dunno what causes this though.

Mine went from 10% to 80% in 3 hours. Thats while playing music all the time and doing other stuff, basically never going to sleep, but screen mostly off.
Depends what you do with your phone really... if you use it actively with screen on, then very little juice is left to charge battery.
If it's first time charging then it also takes a bit longer.

I have had it and used it for a week now, charge it daily.
Don't use it for anything when it is charging, because I want it to charge as fast as possible. The only thing I may do is start it sometime and make a note or something like that.

pc-USB? this can take longer since the pc-usb port will push out lower current plus you are more often than not doing other stuff while using the usb for data as well

I made sure to charge it in the wall, and not in a computer or anything other like that. Now that I think about it I have bin using a wallcharger/adapter from apple, that is made for the iphone (could also be from an Ipad, nut sure) but it says that the output is the same as on the HTC charger.
The only thing that has been running o the phone is wifi hotspot to my computer, could this bring it down?
Yes, WiFi on and actively used can slow charging down. Especially if you have enabled advanced wifi option for more performance.
For a piece of mind, do a test next time, disable WiFi and let the phone go to sleep as normal and see how quickly it charges then.
Any charger should work as long as it outputs 5V at more or less 1 amp

You should at least try to charge it with the one x charger before assuming it's the phones fault.

An iPad wall adapter doesn't charge my galaxy nexus or i9100 either. Use a different adapter.

So I think it did the trick to turn of wifi hotspot, now it looks like it wil charge in 2.5-3.5 h.
My cell has original charger and cable..it takes almost from 0 to full 100 percent charged.till unplug sign comes...in 2hr40 mins.
Is it normal..or what I do..hawish rom installed...any suggestions?

Just make sure the charger output is 2.1 else it will slow.
I'm troubleshooting for my girlfriend's Note 2. She's complained about a slow charge since last week. I checked her phone and installed Battery Widget Reborn to see how long it calculated the charging time. After a while, it says that it gains 1% of battery life for every 11mins plugged in. Which means it's about 11hrs charging time. Can anyone help? She's using the Note II with the latest update. Also this is an open phone... no tie ins to any network.

Find the "galaxy charging current" app here in the forums. It will show you if you're getting a decent charge through your cable.
Also, the perseus kernel (for tw-based roms only) allows you to adjust the current levels for different connections; other kernels may, but I don't know for sure.

I had the same issue with My Note 2.
The issue is with Samsung's stock cable.
Every micro USB cable doesn't work fine with note 2.
I have tried connecting a variety of cables.
Nokia CA 101 and Sony Ericsson EC600R works perfectly fine.
Again..
If you're on TouchWiz ROM,
1. Install Perseus Kernel
2. Go to Stweaks
3. Power
4. Ignore unstable power
5. Apply
If AOSP ROM,
1. Install n.e.a.k kernel 2.1
2. Install their app from play store
3. Go to charge current (or something like that)
4. Hit ignore unstable power
5. Set on boot
In this way you'll get the fastest charging..
My phone used to charge at 600 now it charge at 1800.. In 2 hours (or less), its full..

i have a sph-l900 and i have long puzzled over why my stock charger initially showed me 1800 and as time went on it became erratic and started giving me lower and lower currents as shown in the app "galaxy charging current"
i sifted the forums and came upon a post that mentioned there is chip, forgot the model number, inside that keeps lowering the current draw until the voltage stabilizes above some preset limit.
I reasoned that the thicker the gauge of wire, the less resistance per unit length that wire would have. It then follows that given some current i, the thinner the gauge, the greater the voltage drop over a given distance. Also the smaller the drop in voltage for a shorter wire at any given gauge.
so what does that mean? you want a short thick gauge usb cable.
Some posts mentioned alternative cables like the mediabridge, rocketfish, and nokia cables as giving the full current. Those cables are either heavier gauge or short or both. So, i set about looking to test my theory. I figured why pay 8 to 20 bucks when i could just hopefully find a cable that fit the bill at monoprice. It just had to be a cable with heavier gauge wire on the power pins. The note 2 cares not if the data pins are shorted since the supplied cable works fine as both charge and sync.
So i ordered two pairs of cables at both 1.5 ft and 3 ft. ( Its the white ones with the ferrite chokes). I ordered two pairs because if it worked i wanted extras.
I got the cables and i first tried on my 2 amp car charger that never gave me more than 1300 on a good day with the stock cable.. To my surprise the monoprice cable immediately gave me 1800. Same with all my stock note 2 chargers. I've only tested the 1.5ft so far but i'm so happy i don't care whether the 3 ft works. the phone charges quickly and the micro usb plug is nice and snug.. only caveat is the head of the plug is a little big so you might have to shave it a little with dremel if you are using a commuter case like me.
Pshh...Mine only reaches 78% in 8 hours using the stock charger!

Download app galaxy charging current from the past store and check in app, Now= 1500 at least if it less then there is something wrong with the charger or cable.

those who have problems and are not due to their charger try to power off and then power on their devices (for me it only worked in that way, not reseting) then it should charge well. it happened to me twice and it was not because of the charger.

Although I have been "reading the mail" for a while, I am a new member so I cannot put this in the same thread as the existing wireless mod this is meant to update. Likewise, I cannot link to my pictures directly until I get at least 10 posts submitted so the smaller attached versions will have to do for now. With that said, I see many people are not happy about the lack of native wireless charging support in regards to the T-Mobile Note II (T889). With over 18 years of engineering experience and a T889 myself, I decided to investigate this issue. After 10+ hours of tearing down my own Note II and trying many of the options others have already attempted, I have a few findings.
A. The core design of the T889 is the same as the i317 and N7100. Samsung even uses a mixture of the various device parts to make the T889; including the main system board.
B. The only obvious difference looks to be the actual core processor, which has the hard coded framework (similar to a BIOS) that controls the fundamental parameters of the radio and device capabilities. This framework also takes presentence over any middleware ROM loaded on to the device so there is only so much that can be modified (liberated) without causing too many underlying issues. This method of development is common when creating customized versions of a device for multiple clients while also making sure the FCC part 15 type acceptance regulations here in the USA are adhered to without resubmitting each device multiple times for each client version.
C. In the case of the T889, I believe the ability to facilitate the 802.11 calling feature (either ON or OFF) cost the device its ability to also allow for wireless inductive charging. It may be the stray RFI created by both functions operating at the same time would either not pass FCC type acceptance or the device was never originally type accepted with both features enabled at the same time. Regardless, my overall conclusion is the wireless charging feature in the T889 is disabled on the hardware level and there is no cost effective nor reasonable way to change this.
Other notes:
The above may also explain why the N7100 USB charging board swap doesn't work and why the T889 crashes when loading the home screen; even if a N7100/i317 ROM is loaded on the device. It looks like the processor and/or power management chip is hard-coded to poll the little logic chip on the T889 and i317 charging boards regardless of the ROM. If it does not see that chip (the case with the N7100 USB charging board), it cries foul and triggers a reset (shut down) command. So, it is what it is and we must "skin the cat" a different way.[see image usb_cb_lg.png]
Updated Mod:
The current wireless mod to enable inductance charging on the T889 is a great option, but while ripping my T889 apart, one action item I wanted to do was see if I could make the modification easier and cleaner at the same time. I believe I have achieved this. With my version of the modification, the distance from point A to point B has been reduced to less than 45mm and there is no need to remove or navigate a conductive trace from the charging board/speaker housing assembly. With that said, let's begin. -
* Please proceed at your own risk knowing that you will most likely void your warranty performing this mod. I nor anyone else will be held responsible if you fail to perform this modification correctly and physically damage your device. You have been warned.
- This procedure requires the use of the following tools:
1. A non-conductive and clean work space such as a wood table or natural stone counter top.
2. A soft micro-fiber cloth or pad to lay the device on while working on it.
3. A multi-meter capable of reading resistance in Ohms and DC voltage.
4. A small razor blade.
5. A #0 Phillips head precision screw driver.
6. A small plate to keep the fasteners secure while working.
7. Common case separating pick
8. A professional temperature controlled soldering iron with a pencil tip no larger than 2mm in width – set to no more than 725̊ F.
9. A small roll of rosin core 60/40 solder.
10. 45mm of AWG-30 [0.01" / 0.255mm] or similar sold core vinyl sleeved wire.
11. Fine tip tweezers.
12. Experience and patience.
Now, the good stuff!
- The new location to tap into the +5VDC is on the (+) side of the zener diode located just north of where the charging board header connector feeds the main system board. Form there, it is only 40mm to the positive voltage side of the wireless charging contacts. [see images t889wcmsp.png and t889_wmod_a.jpg]
- This is how is should look like once done... [see image t889_wmod_b.jpg]
- Note the small compression mark caused on the wire when I first tested the casing reassembly. This can be rectified by carefully cutting a small "V" shaped groove in the casing fastener hole cross member. This will also facilitate a 1-2mm gap guide on the inside of the casing wall once reassembly is complete. [see image t889_wmod_c.jpg]
Once done, install your compliant (5vDC @ 1000mAh) inductance receiver plate and you are good to go with a clean voltage line that will be reliable and allow you to charge the T889 via any QI compliant charging pad such as the one made for the Samsung S4.

The receiver pad is a common 5vDC up to 1.0amp "Note2 N7100" QI compliant pad you can find easily on eBay. Since I do not have enough posts yet, I cannot link to the source I used, but again, they are easy to find.
Re: Notification
Since the T889 does not natively support the wireless charging feature, there is no "wireless charging" notification popup present. However, functionally, everything works perfectly fine and the same notifications apply whether you place the T889 on the Samsung charging pad or plug in the traditional USB charging/sync cable.
Wireless charging pad with the T889 OFF:
- The charging pad light first turns ON/Green within 1 second of placing the unit on the pad properly.
- Then, within another 2-3 seconds, the T889 launches the battery icon and begins the charging process.
- After about 30 seconds or so, the battery icon and screen go to sleep and the red charging indicator LED takes over.
Wireless charging with the T889 ON:
- The charging pad light first turns ON/Green within 1 second of placing the unit on the pad properly.
- Then, within another 1-2 seconds, the T889 produces the two-tone (default) audible charging notification with the lightening bolt showing up on the display inside the battery icon.
- The charging process is now active and doing its thing.
Although it acts the same way as charging via the USB port, the efficiency of wireless charging is still in the 75-80% range so in reality and accounting for the circuit overhead that peaks out at 1000mA, my initial finding is the charge rate is about 15% per hour when paired with the stock 3100mA battery (or approximately 6.75 hours for a complete charge). Regardless, it is still pretty snappy and I will test it some more over the coming days.
One thing that should be noted is the 1000mA receiver pad takes up 100% of the marginal space in the T-Mobile rear cover plate so do not try this with anything larger than the standard 3100mA battery unless a deeper rear cover plate can be sourced.

One little note, the 1000 Ma can not be achieved with stock kernel, I use Perseus kernel that can tweak the USB charging from 450 ma, to 1000.
For an accurate (more or less) measurement, use Galaxy Charging app from Play Store.

Alright, here are the enlightening results of the wireless and USB direct charging current utilizing Galaxy Charging Current Pro v1.6.

Amazing work. It's always great to see people still tinkering with their devices.
Today, I changed the stock kernel to the Saber variant and I am liking the results. With no others changes or mods, I am now seeing 900mA of the 1000mA the QI receiver pad is spec'd at.
I was also able to charge from 81% to 91% in exactly 25 minutes with the T889 ON, the screen awake, Wi-Fi active, and the phone idling. This would equate to approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes per complete charge, which is very respectable.

Thanks, but I am more on the hardware side and not the software arena. Plus, this mod concept was originally not my idea so I cannot take complete credit for it. I simply investigated the situation and found yet another way to achieve the end result. Regardless, the battery chemistry is just not there yet so if you want 3-4 day operation between traditional charges, I suggest looking into one of these new solar and other alternative charging options.

For now, I am back to enjoying this current QI solution and have established a repeatable charging cycle time that is within 5 minutes on each benchmark. With the Saber kernel allowing for 900mA of wireless charging current to make it through the circuit, the 0-2% to 100% charge time looks to be 4 hours, 25 minutes (+/-5 min). My latest charge cycle that just completed is shown below.

I have an AT&T SGH-I317 with a wireless charging pad. It works but is fairly slow charging at about 460 mA. I've read that the original mod with the Perseus kernal would allow the device to charge faster.
Before I jump into it I'd like some confirmation that this mod would give my wireless charging a boot on my AT&T Note II. I haven't found a lot if complete info and am concerned.

As your i317 is already QI capable, then there is no need to perform this mod. Your specific focus should be confirming the following before flashing the kernel:
1. Is your QI charging (transmitting) platform rated at 2A (input) with an effective output of approx. 1A? Likewise, is the wall adapter feeding the pad rated at up to 2A?
2. Is the QI receiving pad mounted on your i317's rear case panel or the battery rated at 1000mA @ 5V? [Anything lower like 700mA will obviously limit your charging rate, which results in longer charging times].
I have not tested the Perseus kernel, but the Saber kernel on my T889 does liberate the higher charging rate as long as the hardware TX/RX pads support it (as covered above). I average about 980mA, which is within 5% of the rated peak for my Samsung charging platform.:good:

I have read that the charge rate is limited by the device to something like 466mA. Mine charges at 460. Some say the kernel will raise it the others say the kernel alone won't do it, a hardest mod (like this) is required.
To answer your questions:
1. Transmitter Nokia DT-900 output 750mA.
2. Receiver rated at 650mA
I'd be happy to get the charge rate around 600mA. I know my setup I'd not capable of charging at 900mA, but would like to do better than the 460mA I'm now... getting off possible.
If I can get it charging rate higher, I'd look into getting a 1000mA receiver, but won't be getting a new transmitter until the prices drop. I was able to get several Nokia charges for just under $20a piece.
When I get home I will try Saber kernel.

Try the custom kernel since that does control the charging manager functions. If the change is marginal, your RX pad may be actually functioning like a 500mA rated pad. Hopefully, you will see something closer to 600-640mA with your setup (even if the charge time will not be significantly reduced). If anything, invest in a good RX pad that is rated up to the 1000mA so you know you are able to accept any level energy up to the 1A regardless of the charger you use now or buy later.

With Saber Kernel 39.3 I am somehow getting a reading of 899mA, not sure how, as neither my receiver or transmitter should allow this. Though the pic on the FastTech site showed a green receiver pad that had 5v650mA printed on it, the one I got doesn't say anything, so it may be capable of up to 1000mA. Even so my Nokia should not be ab;e to supply enough to charge at the reading I'm getting.
Well, I've always used Perseus Kernel because Saber did not support my 64GB MicroSD card. Flashed Saber Kernel 39.3 and it does support my 64GB MIcroSD, Even the stock saber kernel that comes with Jedi X17 dose not support my exfat 64GB card. So I guess I'm happy.

My battery drain seemed to be much greater with the Saber Kernel vs the Perseus kernel I was using. So I went back to the Perseus kernel and even the though it reads 466mA vs Sabers 899mA they both seem to charge at about the same rate (10-12% per hour). I didn't do a real detailed comparison so the Saber my get an extra percent or two per hour, but that means little if it drains the batter much faster.
Maybe I'll try saber 39.3 again to double check the drain and charge times.
on a sad note I cracked my screen again. Luckily the replacement screen price has dropped considerably. I paid less than half of what I did the first time I had to replace it.

I'm having problems getting the solder to stick to the resistor up by the charging contacts. I'm afraid if I try much more the resistor will be toast. Can I solder directly to the top contact and it would still work?
I have bought a brand new p-601, since the first installation it takes more than 6 hours in battery charging.
Is it normal or there is something wrong with the battery/tablet.
Is it possible reset the binary counter to 0, cause I have rooted it twice?

Yes its normal, all Exynos Note 10.1 2014 take a long time to charge, My P600 takes 5 hours however others have said it takes them 6-8hours to fully charge.

Someone could calculate the theoretical time by comparing how much power USB 2.0 can put through vs USB 3.0. Should be roughly 2 times more.
So maybe there will come a Note 10.1 Pro with USB 3.0 and NFC

It's not USB 3.0. Only the Tab/Pro 12.2's have USB 3.0 anyway. Here's how Samsung implements USB 3.0; at least on the N3.
The Galaxy Note 3 ships with USB 3.0, unfortunately at least in its current state it doesn't seem to get any benefit from the interface. Although the internal eMMC is capable of being read from at ~100MB/s, sustained transfers from the device over adb averaged around 30MB/s regardless of whether or not I connected the Note 3 to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 host.
Update: USB 3.0 does work on the Note 3, but only when connected to a Windows PC with USB 3.0. Doing so brings up a new option in the "USB Computer Connection" picker with USB 3.0 as an option. Ticking this alerts you that using USB 3.0 might interfere with calls and data, but then switches over. Connection transfer speed is indeed faster in this mode as well, like you'd expect. It only appears on Windows as well, my earlier attempts were on OS X where this popup option never appears.
Charging is an interesting story on the Note 3, but primarily because of what doesn’t change. The Note 3 continues to use Samsung’s tablet charging specification and charger, which has 2 amps of maximum output. The Note 3 draws 2 amps over a considerable amount of the charging curve, like other Samsung devices (in the linear part of the charge curve). USB 3.0 doesn’t change things up here quite yet with the new supported charge voltages that are coming eventually with the power delivery specification.

The p600 has a battery capacity that is 2.56 times bigger than the note 3 (3,200 vs. 8,220mAh) so its not a fair comparison.

My P605 My P600 takes 4 hours.. don't know about the exynos version.
It is obviously slower than any tablet or phone. Very boring and annoying. The question is how to differentiate between motherboard failure and normal slow battery charging?

I was having this problem a few days back but found a hint on one of the threads I found on the internet. I was using a USB extension cable with the Samsung charger. It was taking 1 hr just to charge 1%. Then I tried not using the extension cable. It's now charging 10-15% every hour. It's likely the calbe you're using is the problem. If it's not the original cable that came with the tablet, try that cable.
I just got mine for xxxmas, and it takes about 6 hours, give or take, to go from ≈5-10% to full charge, maybe less when I don't use it; and I guess I get about the same life most have mentioned (is there a way to track charge/discharge times?).
That said, I just plugged in at 15%, and I just crossed 25% in about 20-25 minutes. I use the stock charger and cable plugged into an extension cord as thick as my arm... okay, my forefinger--hey, I like having a good extension cord that can carry the juice, the precious juice!

P605 here, and yes, it's normal, . It takes even longer if you're using it while charging. My philosophy is: "I sleep, he charges". Not perfect though, due to the amount of time I sleep, not much.
So my P600 Note 10.1 normally takes 5 hours to charge from 5% to 100% and the last 20% usually trickles and takes 2 hours. I remember someone on xda mentioning to unplug and then plug back when it hits 80%, so that's what I did yesterday and it took a total of 4hrs10mins from 5% to 100%. No idea how it made it charge faster but hey it worked.
P.s I use stock cable and plug.

Mine Note SM-P605 takes 5 Hours to charge and doesnt matter if have it turning off charging. Shouldnt it suppose to be around 3 hours charging time with qualcomms quickcharge 2.0?

How do peoples manage to get around 3H charing time with LTE version?
Im using battery monitor widget to monitor the charging, from start its around 1600mah and from 80-90% it start to drop to 1500mah-1000mah. From 90-100% it tickles down with 100mah for each 1% charge.
Is this normal? Im using Samsungs charger that comes with the box with EU adapter plug, since its HK version I got and if it does matter.
@dt33 i guess the EU adapter plug is the cause of slow charging. P605 should not be taking 5hours.

Id doubt that EU adapter is causing it and also tried with 3 different adapter. Since they just make HK 3 stick plug to EU 2 plug and doesnt convert electricity.
If any have SM-P605 version and can confirm with battery monitor widget.With history stats, how much mA does it charge bewteen 0-100% and is it same as mine does?

0-80% - 1600-1700mA
80-90% - 1500-1000mA

It isn't the charger or the cable, it's something to do with the battery. I've had two different units in the past week or so that have taken over 7 hours and sometimes the charging stops before it is full and the discharge varies so much from 3 hours to 10 hours with the same things open and this happens on different chargers. Samsung agreed that both units were faulty, so enough is enough, I'm going to try something else.
After reading here and elsewhere about the GN 2014 charging time, I checked mine this morning. I wanted to do that before my 15 day return is up at Bestbuy. Yesterday, I ran the GN 2014 until it came with a screen and said to connect to charger. I think it was about 3% left.. This morning I put it on the charger at 7am.. at about 11, it was almost full, I unplugged it, and then plugged it back up again, and at 12 noon it reported 100%..
I have read that at about 80% on charging, it is real slow, and to un plug and re plug at that time helps..Anyway, 5 hours to 100% is normal, so I am okay.

Thanks for u offering, but it doesnt matter now and Im tired of Samsung. Too many buggs and none fixes and theirs customers support is none existens.
Now I also got black screen, waking it up from sleep, touch stopped responding or superlag (whatever its), cant swipe between home screens bla bla and couldnt either click on oki to reboot the device. A long press on power button for reboot is only choice.
Also suddenly battery drain from 100% - 97% just in 3 min for scrolling around home screen, appdrawer, open apps.
This tab just have too many issues and not worth mine time or buy.
Today at work, mine friend told me that his Note 8 LTE that he bought for 2 months ago, have also screen shaking problem as its with Note 2014.WTF is this?
Waiting for 4.4 and see if it resolves any of the problems. Or else, I just sell this **** and forget about Samsung.

The recent discussions on xda and r/rMoto_Z about battery chargers and questions concerning whether or not a TurboPower 30 charger is it worth it to us Z Play users prompted me to do a quick test comparing the chargers.
What I found is my TurboPower 30 is not charging any faster than the TurboPower 15 that came with the phone. I am using tasker (I'm a tasker noob BTW) to log the time and battery level to a Google Sheet upon a change in battery level. I discharged the phone to 14% both times, shut it down, let it cool, turned it on, then plugged in without touching it during the charging process.
Overall, both chargers behave the same. Both charge at a rate around 1.1% to 1.15% charge per minute until the 90-92% mark, where they slow down drastically.
The TP15 took 90 minutes to charge, while the TP30 took 95 minutes to charge.
So what's going on here?
Is my phone malfunctioning?
Is my charger(s) malfunctioning?
Am I stupid and/or missing something?
Can the Z Play even make use of the extra amperage from the TP30?
I'm at a loss here. I could have sworn the TP30 seemed faster, but maybe not.
Can anybody else confirm the same behavior from their chargers?
I can provide a link to a graph and the google sheet itself once I get past the 10 posts required before posting outside links.
I have the Z Play and the Z Force. Using the 30 watt charger on the Play still only charges it at about the same rate as the 15 watt charger. Not sure of the reasons just saying the results I have gotten.
Motorola probably put a limit on that
Charging from 30% to 50% took just a few minutes but phone got really really hot... I'll stick to charging with my 10w ipad adaptor... Decently fast and phone stays cool :good:
TurboPower 30 i guarantee only reaches 30 watt output over 12 volts. Our phone only accepts 5v at 3 amps max (you can force it, but you will probably ruin a component). This is due to thermal restrictions and to help preserve the battery from degrading faster than normal due to heat. With my moto x pure I recieved a turbopower 25 which charged my phone (which is about the same size as this one) at 12v ~2.1 Amps and the phone was already thermal throttling while charging. With a phone that lasts 2 days already Lenovo probably figures you can top your phone off when you have time to, and even then charging at 15 watts is still pretty quick if you really need to charge your phone in a hurry. More power going in = more heat put out due to inefficiencies. This will change whenever we get superconductors figured out and can have ~100% efficiency, but that will (probably) take a while, and even then take longer before it trickles down to consumer products.

Actually, the TurboPower 30's max output is 5v @ 5.7a, hence the large fixed cable.
Motorola lists the TurboPower 30 as compatible with all Moto Z devices. I took "compatible" as meaning I will receive the full output on a Z Play. If that's not the case, then Motorola should specify as such. I mainly just want to find out if my issue is by design or isolated to me.

Surprising that its actually at 5 volts tbh, since manufacturers were moving to 5, 9, and 12 volt standards for quick charging (not sure why the higher voltage instead of higher amperage). It would be by design though as the thermal restrictions still stand. The phone would have a hard time disipating all the heat generated (unless you suspended it by a string in mid air and had a fan blow on it :laugh and it could degrade the battery faster (due to heat). It is technically compatible in that will charge the phone and quick charge it at 15 watts, but it will not go up to 30 watts. It could be useful in the future when more laptops have thunderbolt 3 or 4 ports and you could use it for that .

So what specifically in the design of the Z Play creates thermal restrictions greater than that of the Z Force? And what makes you believe the TurboForce 30 charger will charge other devices at ~30w? Is it a USB Power Delivery spec charger?
Regardless of all this, I still find the product description disingenuous. I would have simply gone with a standard (and cheaper) 15w USB-C- charger had I known this.

It is disingenuous to an extent, they didnt lie to you when they said it would work, but they just didnt tell you that it wouldnt charge at the full 30 watts (maybe there was an asterisk for it?). From the little bits of research I did on the moto Z force forum, it seems that it does follow USB-PD, but I dont know much about USB-PD specs or Qualcomm quick charge specs honestly. The only real advantage the Z force has in terms of helping with heat disipation is the aluminum backplate it has vs our glass backplate, it could also have some extra copper inside of it to help spread the heat around as well. Aluminum transfers heat better then glass does which allows it to have more wiggle room in terms of thermal restrictions, but I bet you the phone still gets really hot while turbo charging especially at 30 watts. Since it seems to follow USB-PD spec that would mean that if another device that follows that spec (a laptop with USB type-c thunderbolt 3?) and requests that much power then yes, it should work.
and then, what is the exact charger for Moto Z2 Force ? 15 (included in package), or 30 ?
