Any fix for this? Un rooted because I have a mac. I changed animation speeds to .5 across the boards, but it takes 2 seconds to rotate the screen

Do you have smart rotation enabled?
Smart rotation, enabled or disabled still lags 2 Seconds at least

I have smart cover enabled and mine does not lag at all, 2 seconds is not on.
Screen rotation lag / Auto Rotation delay

OK.. This has bothered me for a week. I did some testing on this and found on my Galaxy, if you do the following:
Go into Settings
then Controls
then 'Smart Screen'
Disable 'Smart Rotation'
Reboot / Restart Tablet
I gained just over a second in rotation speed..
Testing with a Stopwatch it went from 2.0+ seconds to around 0.93 seconds.
Note: Enabling Smart Stay, Smart Pause, or Smart scroll made NO difference..

Nova Launcher Prime 2.3
My first note rotated instantly compared to my second one. I returned it due to loose spen slot. I wish I'd just kept it. I posted a video on YouTube. Fast forward to the last 30 seconds. Animation set to 1.5x

Sometimes my screen rotate when in browser or an app that supports rotation the accelerometer lags behind a bit
Anyone else had this ?

It has to do with the animation speed mostly. You can adjust that in developer options.
I have them all off.

if you are talking about that 1 second delay that's normal.
Nope
I'm talking
"Why havent you rotatated"
Tap tap
OK
Still not rotating
Tap tap tap
Ah, there ya go.

Can't say I've seen that. How annoying.
On the Galaxy Nexus??? well that's a surprise.

I'm pretty surprised to see people saying that they have not experienced it. It's one of the worst bugs with the phone and lots of people are experiencing it:

I'm on 4.0.3. Maybe that is why.
yeah I know that problem. experienced it mainly allot in the browser

If you need to tap the phone to get the accelerometer to work, then it's probably faulty and you should ask fro an exchange/repair.
But if you are just experiencing a small delay, that's apparently a feature in ICS to prevent accidental rotation. At first I found it incredibly annoying but it actually works in preventing unwanted rotations.
Galaxy Nexus CDMA stock 4.02 here. It has definitely been a problem for me. It takes a good 2+3 full seconds to rotate for me. Lucky for me i spend 90% of my time in portrait.
VZW GN and yeah I got the same thing. Its really annoying but I cant tell if its more or less annoying than having the screen accidentally rotate...
Either way this should be something we can control in the developer options, like give us a time delay before screen will rotate.
Hi,
is it possbile to use the Galaxy Nexus completly in landscape.
The problem is, if I deactivate the automatic display rotation the phone always use the protrait mode.

Make sure you turn off rotation whilst the device is in landscape and it should lock it to landscape. Just tried and it worked for me.

Nope... tried this 3 times or so^^
Get "Orientation Control" from the Market. It will allow you to lock an orientation.
This popular app will do exactly that and lock it into landscape for you...amongst other features

Hey everyone, I noticed that when comparing this to the iPhone, the iPhone rotates the screen a lot fast than the GN2. I did a search on here and on google and was unable to come up with anything.
Is there a way to tweak the rotation time? I know you can tweak things like long press time in ms but what about how fast the screen rotates. Any information would be great! Thanks a lot all.
It's in settings>developer options> animator duration scale
Also disabling Smart Rotation will speed it up

+1. This makes a big difference.
Plus I turn off animations completely. They are pointless and such up resources.

thank you guys so much for the speedy replies. I watch some videos on youtube and every time they compare the iphone with a phone, they always say "look how fast this is compared to the iphone" as the screen is still taking its time to rotate. Thought I was the only one to notice that.
Has anyone got the default nexus 4 camera app that auto rotates even with screen rotation off.
I can't seem to find one that allows this.
If it works on your current Phone, please post it here for me to try.
Cheers

Delete.
Sorry I had it, but I lost it.
It is easy to do this using Tasker app. Let me know if you need the profile.
Profile context: launch app (camera)
Task: auto-rotate (off)
+1 on using Tasker for this.

From my experience (stock rooted), even with rotation off, the pictures get saved in the proper orientation depending on how I hold it. The bets part about having rotation of is that you don't get the whole screen to rotate, which delays the camera a lot. Try it!
This is something annoying that Google should fix, normally, its just the buttons which rotate, not the whole screen

Ive just recently got the s4, but my auto rotation doesn't work properly. It will go side ways but wont go vertically (until I turn off screen rotation or go back to home page). Can anyone help?
