Android 2.0.4
Stock - non root
Make sure you turn off rotation whilst the device is in landscape and it should lock it to landscape. Just tried and it worked for me.

Nope... tried this 3 times or so^^
Get "Orientation Control" from the Market. It will allow you to lock an orientation.
This popular app will do exactly that and lock it into landscape for you...amongst other features

Hello I am not sure at all what cause this problem but no matter what I do I cannot get my phone to have a lock screen. In fact I can't even to get it to slide in the beginning it just boots into my home screen and if I turn the screen on and off it goes straight back to the homescreen without me having to unlock anything. I've gone into the settings and made multiple types of passwords but none of them show up when I turn my screen on then off. I'm running paranoid android and any help would be nice

did you try settings/lock screen/screen security/screen lock and change that setting?
I'm on Paranoid Android too.
Sorry but yes I've tried that and no luck.

Old thread, I know. I found this thread searching for a solution to my
lockscreen problem. I want to leave this to help others.
I could not get the lock screen to work at all. I reflashed the ROM,
reloaded GApps, tried safe mode, and about a dozen other things...
nothing. GoLocker worked, but wanted the JB lockscreen.
I had set up Power Widgets in the notification drawer. One of them was the
lockscreen switch. I thought this locked the screen when tapped. I decided to
see if that would lock the screen. That's when I discovered that it activates/
deactivates the lock screen! It had been toggled off.
Toggling this switch does not change the status in the lockscreen settings, and
changing the lockscreen setting does not flip the toggle. So you need to check
both settings and the toggle, if you're using it.
Hope that helps!

My solution
My solution for this problem:
Go to settings --> Display & Lights --> Untick "Auto-rotate screen"! --> Profit (?)
P.s. I was on P.A.C rom.
Just found this app on Google Play that allows full rotation with the Nexus 7 when on the homescreen or in any app.
The app is completely free and doesn't require root.
Check it out!

I would prefer if there was an app that moved the icons to the bottom of the screen etc instead of just rotating them and leaving them where they are.

This is normal on ICS and JB. The Galaxy Nexus behaves this way too.
The only way to accomplish this is tablet mode. Tablet mode always has the status bar at the bottom for all rotations. EOS does this and has full rotation built in.

"Ultimate screen rotation" works great as well. It's free and I believe there is a paid version too.

OP's ap works as advertised, cheap, no surprises.
(I was under impression home rotate, rotation was a big deal.)
Wanted landscape home for car mount.
THS
I am liking the one OP posted so far.

Try sslauncher, it lets you rotate anything (even individual icons or text). Screens rotate and let's you have completely different themes in portrait and landscape. Well worth the cost for the full version.
Good find.
Not sure if you guys are aware, but homescreen rotation works with 4.1.2 with the stock launcher

Note 2 is a huge device, I hate the screen rotates when I already have difficulty to reach the dial pad. How do I disable the rotation on dialer screen only without installing new apps?
I think that's not possible on stock rom. Maybe on custom roms but I can't tell you since I'm on stock
If your rooted the xposed app mod will setbthe orientation on any app. There are a couple of apps on the play store than lock the screen in whatever mode you want

Has anyone got the default nexus 4 camera app that auto rotates even with screen rotation off.
I can't seem to find one that allows this.
If it works on your current Phone, please post it here for me to try.
Cheers

Delete.
Sorry I had it, but I lost it.
It is easy to do this using Tasker app. Let me know if you need the profile.
Profile context: launch app (camera)
Task: auto-rotate (off)
+1 on using Tasker for this.

From my experience (stock rooted), even with rotation off, the pictures get saved in the proper orientation depending on how I hold it. The bets part about having rotation of is that you don't get the whole screen to rotate, which delays the camera a lot. Try it!
This is something annoying that Google should fix, normally, its just the buttons which rotate, not the whole screen

Any fix for this? Un rooted because I have a mac. I changed animation speeds to .5 across the boards, but it takes 2 seconds to rotate the screen

Do you have smart rotation enabled?
Smart rotation, enabled or disabled still lags 2 Seconds at least

I have smart cover enabled and mine does not lag at all, 2 seconds is not on.
Screen rotation lag / Auto Rotation delay

OK.. This has bothered me for a week. I did some testing on this and found on my Galaxy, if you do the following:
Go into Settings
then Controls
then 'Smart Screen'
Disable 'Smart Rotation'
Reboot / Restart Tablet
I gained just over a second in rotation speed..
Testing with a Stopwatch it went from 2.0+ seconds to around 0.93 seconds.
Note: Enabling Smart Stay, Smart Pause, or Smart scroll made NO difference..
Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 2014 SM-P600
Android version 4.3
Nova Launcher Prime 2.3
My first note rotated instantly compared to my second one. I returned it due to loose spen slot. I wish I'd just kept it. I posted a video on YouTube. Fast forward to the last 30 seconds. Animation set to 1.5x
