Just push in system/media as black87 said above...don't forget set permission rw-r-r...that's most imp...no need for nandroid backup ...phone will boot anyway..even if u remove boot animation...android will be written and it ll boot
Hope I helped.

Haha..well u know..if u just rename existing boot animation. Zip to old.zip(any name) ..and u move new zip and set permission...and if u like it...u can delete old.zip..if u don't like it...delete new animation and again rename old.zip to boot animation.zip ..
No nandroid backup needed ..haha xD

This is what you need. For instructions read this.
Thankzz
ya you can try the uot kichen but it sometimes the wrong selection can make ur phone slow but you can always revet back to default without lossing your data
i already made one
check themes section ...
by the way how to revert back ??
CWM backup n restore ???
Before you apply anything keep a backup of unmodified framework-res.apk and systemui.apk so you can just overwrite when needed. Or do Mai77's method. Submit to kitchen first without modding anything so you can have a flashable zip of the unmodified files.

I tried cwm backup ... it backed up 100% in the end it gave an error ....
Cant mount / data
I tried several times ...
Same thing
But I have noticed that in SD card there is a clockwork mod folder there in backup folder is a 400.6mb files
One is a tar file , recovery img and boot.img
Total folder size is 400.6

There should be four files inside that folder. Use skin's. Also if it says can't find sd-ext that's normal. As long as last words say backup complete you're good to go.

try cwm by madteam.. Your back up folder should contain 5 files

Sent from my GT-I8150 using XDA
Try renaming downloaded bootanime to sanim.zip then put it in system/media using root explorer if using a custom rom. Back up your old one just in case.
Do you still have the root acess to your phone?
When i Lost my root acess i unable to change the boot animation via Toolbox like you mentioned.
After update my root acess and upgrade the toolbox this work good until now

U can change boot animation but need to make a few modification to /system first.
Follow this post.

After u modded this, u can use ROMtoolbox to download and change boot animation by setting the install location as /system/media/sanim.zip
Here it is guys enjoy https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzRgfImRwyLRdmVNTHZjcVNpUVE/edit

Do you know how to use adb in recovery? It will give you better results. Go into record dry go to mounts and storage and mount sdcard then go to a command prompt and push it over unmount sdcard then reboot
Still getting nothing from this. Tried different downloads, and checked permissions. Each download either goes black, or just shows the Android logo. Never used ADB.
---------- Post added at 10:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:02 PM ----------
Is there proper permissions holding me back? Check what boxes in each?
Download the CM10SavesZip.zip from OP
Extract the Zip file into a folder in your download directory
Inside the Zip file are 2 folders "Horizontal" and "Vertical"
Choose which orientation you want and open that folder
Go to the 480 folder and copy the bootanimation.zip to /system/media and set permissions to rw-r--r--
Reboot and enjoy new animation
Don't forget to rename the bootanimation.zip that is already in that folder. I used bootanimation1.zip

Just re-flash your current Rom. It should overwrite the conflicted files.

If you can't boot to download or recovery, your phone is toast.
What sequence do you use to boot to those?
If you have the N7100 variant then you are in the wrong thread. You can simply extract the apk from the stock factory image.

To make the backup work, Follow these steps:
1)Open your backup folder.
2)Go to the nandroid.md5 and open it using any text editor on your phone.
3)Delete all the lines from starting to the end.
4)Now save and close the file.
5)Now try restoring your backup using CWM!
Voila, now your backup will work.It worked for me.

To make that backup work do not to add spaces and/or special characters. If you have added spaces and/or any special characters, the backup will not work thereafter,no matter how much you try to fix it.
It is not necessary to flash old CWM to restore the backup of 4.2.2.
If you hav not changed the folder name of the backup and still get the md5 error, then you should follow the editing and deleting steps.
