(Q) how to change boot animation.. - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Guys!!how can i change my boot animation..I have tried romtoolbox but it did not change it when i clicked install...
Sent from my GT-I8150 using XDA

Try renaming downloaded bootanime to sanim.zip then put it in system/media using root explorer if using a custom rom. Back up your old one just in case.

Do you still have the root acess to your phone?
When i Lost my root acess i unable to change the boot animation via Toolbox like you mentioned.
After update my root acess and upgrade the toolbox this work good until now

1st, What ROM are u using?
U can change boot animation but need to make a few modification to /system first.
Follow this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25342300&postcount=3
After u modded this, u can use ROMtoolbox to download and change boot animation by setting the install location as /system/media/sanim.zip

It would just be easier to replace one using Root Explorer, but yes you can.

You can find the file at /system/media.

I don't see any files in that folder other than a folder for audio.

is it a stock rom?
Then place bootanimation.zip (from what animation you want) on /system/media with rootexplorer (need root for that)
Does it have to be root explorer? Just tried with es file manager and it says failed when copying or trying to delete the current boot animation .zip? Thanks

Yes use root explorer and and when you want to make changes just click the button at the top mount r/w so it changes to mount r/o

Just used ES File Explorer and put the bootanimation.zip file in the /system/media folder and it works great! Thanks!
Yep me too. Hadn't enabled root explorer and mount option in es file explorer settings. So much better. Got the nexus boot and no more ugly o2 splash screen. Cheers all

I use ROM Toolbox to change my boot animation, its simple and fast, and there are a bunch to choose from, and you dont have to have BL unlocked.
Sorry to bump this again guys. Boot animation changed all good, just I have an o2 splash screen on power off. Any quick easy way to get rid of this?

No to edit splash, you need to decompile kernel and change certain files. You do for the boot splash anyway. I don't have a shutdown splash, maybe it's to do with your o2 branded rom, you could always flash a generic rom.

Thought it might be cheers. The o2 splash at startup was included in the boot animation so was able to get rid of that.

Uninstalling zips

If I flash a zip on my phone and I don't like it or it doesn't work, is there anyway I can just remove with out reflashing
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
That is why you make a nandroid backup. You can't just undo flashing something
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Only way to uninstall zips is to plug your phone into your computer and find the zip file and hit delete but it is best to always check the ROM out before you back it up get it set up the way you like then back it up but always back up your stock ROM that way you can go back to it

That doesn't uninstall anything, it just deletes it off your sd card. Like the other guy said, Do a nandroid before you flash anything because flashes can't be undone. you can flash over it but you can't undo a flash.
That's basically what I was saying
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Not even lol. Deleting the .zip file is the file itself, it's already flashed to the phone. You could boot with no SD and still have your.zip flashed. Basically, you have to reflash the rom if you don't have a backup.

Haha that's nothing like u were saying bro lmao
@OP
Open the zip,
find the files it modifies inside system folder
Open ur roms zip file with 7z or similar
Find the needed files
Replace into zip overwriting with the originals ofc, follow the layout.
Put on SD
boot to CWM
Disable signatures
Flash zip
Clear cache/fix permissions if necessary, you haven't described what your flashing..
Reboot.
Done.
But if you don't make a backup of it and restore it's still on there?

If it ads files then yes technicly but by replacing the main files it wont be initiating only as the otigionals.. u can delete extras with a delete command in updater-script..
And yet again u didn't specify what you were "restoring"
Guess I need to be more specific lmao

Yes you can remove by deleting apk just like copying apk will install (as long as it is folder you have write access to and you restart the phone).
Also keeping a copy of any apk will allow reinstall later just enable non market sources in settings use file browser select apk for install while running OS and it does not require a restart to use the app by the way). You have to use app such as titanium backup to backup your apps settings and data though.
You can also un/install using adb
Adb install blah.apk
(Google for options)
As well. Just like if you copy apks in to a ROM zip (right directories don't just drop in root; Google if needed) before flash they will also install when ROM zip is flashed (may need to re-sign but these days that usually is not required).

Cm 10 boot animation

Hi folks,
so i have created boot animation enabler for our device
1.)Download CWM_CustomBootanimation_Enable.zip, CWM_CustomBootanimation_Disable.zip and bootanimation.zip and place them at your internal sdcard.
2.)Boot into CWM and Flash CWM_CustomBootanimation_Enable.zip
3.)Reboot system and open file manager with root acess such as root explorer
4.)Move bootanimation.zip to data/local and reboot
5.) Enjoy
Hit THANKS if this helps
flashed enabler through stock recovery but got "signature verification failed error". any idea how it can be fixed?
btw, zip file had to be placed on extsd, not intsd.
put in int sd and flash

Boot animation not installed on galaxy note 2.

Hi.. I'm using stock Firmware, rooted, perseus kernel, and I wanna change my boot animation. I used rom toolbox and click "install". It says "install complete" .
Then, I reboot my phone, but there's still Samsung loop logo. I've look for the answer in this forum, YouTube, Google and found this : http://androidforums.com/admire-all...flashable-new-bootanimations-how-install.html
But I don't understand properly and can't still change my boot animation. I also delete boot animation.zip in system/media/ but it also didn't change my boot animation.
Does anyone know how to change boot animation? Where I was wrong?
Thanks for anyone who can help me out.

No nandroid backup needed ..haha xD
