Hi guys I had been extremely interested in the gnex for the past 2 months...buying it is on my top of list.
I wanted to get it from amazon /newegg since they have the full international warranty.beccause I am out of the country frequently for 2-3 months,in Asia,Europe,china,India,etc. My question here would be,people who got the phone from handbag/clove/negri,did u guys get international warranty n stuff recognized by Samsung?does your papers clearly mention international warranty? I have never bought from these sellers lol....in case of a problem,if I just send it in to the service center in the country,that's enuf right?I don't want a seller warranty,but a true manufacturer warranty.

I ordered from Negri. To my knowledge Samsung UK wont warranty imported GalNex directly.
Negri's policy:
Every (Non Carrier Branded) device comes with a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer. After 25 days our exchange/return policy has expired, you should contact the manufacturer for repair or for warranty replacement or exchange, if your device qualifies for this. Please contact the manufacturer to determine if the device you hold is covered under their warranty. If you would like to send your device to us to send to the manufacturer you are free to do so. Please request an RMA. This will delay the warranty process by 1-2 weeks and you will be charged shipping to and from the manufacturer. You will need the original invoice from us in order to have your item repaired or exchanged by the manufacturer. Warranty varies by manufacturer, but typically warranties are valid for 1 year from purchase.

I would guess the other importers are similar. The device is covered under warranty, but needs to be shipped back to the importer you purchased from and from there back to Samsung UK. At least thats the impression I get, could be wrong.

I believe Samsung does not have international warranty atleast for this phone. If it was released in a particular country, you need to send ti to their repair center in that country for service.
If you buy it from expansys-usa, then you send the phone to them and they will send it to samsung uk for repairs.
warranty is what is definitely keeping me on the sidelines.
i'll wait for the release of the verizon version first and see if any announcements are made regarding a GSM release in the US.
Most likely i'll end up ordering sometime next week.
i hope BB sells the GSM unlocked version soon. i'd rather go through them.
Samsung's policy on grey market electronics is very strict and clear. In order to receive warranty repairs on a covered device it must be:
1) Purchased in its country of intended sale.
2) Purchased from an authorized Samsung reseller.
No international GN purchased in the U.S. has a warranty no matter what the reseller tells you. That includes Negri and Expansys-USA. However, both Negri and Expansys will ship the phone overseas to one of their international affiliates for service on behalf of their U.S. customers. The GSM GN is not sold in the U.S. and, if it is, it's considered by Samsung to be a grey market device. Anyone buying from either Handtec or Clove are covered for two-years since the device would have been purchased in the UK even though it was imported to the U.S.
If an imported GN needs service, you have to ship it to a Samsung repair centre in the UK. Before warranty work is provided they'll ask for a receipt and/or credit card statement showing the purchase from an authorized reseller in GBP. They also maintain a database of serial numbers so they know which devices were sold through which resellers. They've denied claims on plenty of international SGS2's because the above conditions weren't met.
OP, Amazon and NewEgg are your least preferred options as the phone has no warranty what so ever. You can however get a SquareTrade warranty for it because they cover grey market devices. It's about $100 for two-years of coverage with ADH when they have a 30% sale going on.

Listen,amazon and newegg have something called international versions of gs2 and gs and nexus s with full international warranty,n I know for a fact that these warranties were honored internationally. And when amazon n newegg say international warranty,it basically means everywhere except US. That's fine by me,actually. Well,I mean I would prefer if US was included obviously...but I can do without it. Anyways, speculations aside,can any actual nexus owner provide details about his or her papers? Someone from Europe that purchased from handtec or clove? I asked both handtec n clove yesterday,waiting for an answer.

How many people have actually used their warranty? Seriously?
I mean, it's nice as a comforting thing, but in 10 years I have never needed a warranty.
Most things that go wrong aren't warranty issues anyway (dead battery, physical/water damage, etc).
It just seems like people are leveraging this as a reason not to buy.
Once you root, it's done with anyway (any warranty, that is).
I don't think you're done with warranty if you root. Or has anyone actually heard not getting support or service because of root? You can also always revert to stock, but I'm thinking if not to although I'm soon sending mine for inspection due to screen issues.
I was instructed by Samsung UK to contact local Samsung for support, but that can be because of all the neat customer rights things here in EU.

From the T&C of my warranties for my UK i9100 and G-Tab:
If the manufacturer refuses to honor their warranty because they consider your item grey market or not purchased from an authorized retailer, we will still cover you.
If your item is used, or doesn't have a US manufacturer's warranty of at least 90 days ("Other"), then the Service Agreement begins on the 61st day after item purchase and lasts for the number of years of coverage you specify at purchase time.
Also, after you purchase the warranty, you can send in your receipt for verification and to expedite claims processing. They accepted both my UK receipts without question.

Huh? There's only one warranty. The one provided by Samsung which is based on the country of intended sale. Samsung doesn't sell the GSM GN in the U.S. Any reseller that's selling it here is importing it from overseas. That makes it grey market which means Samsung won't cover it. Samsung USA won't repair it because it's not a product sold here. Samsung UK won't repair it because the Amazon receipt shows it was purchased outside the UK, its intended country of sale. You'll notice that if Amazon is the merchant, all their imported phones say "no warranty." But go ahead, purchase other than from Expansys, Negri, or the UK and see what happens if you need service. A lot of SGS2 owners spun the wheel and learned the hard way.

as i said, theres something called international warranty that gives u warranty everywhere except US in amazon phones. esp galaxy s and s2. i dont know how that works. stupid dilemma. Then again, i dont want to buy the buy the phone then find out that it has a damaged screen/yellowish screen, non-responsive buttons and crap and have to live with that for the next 2 years. no sir. Ah well, my next assignment is in India in March, maybe I will buy it there, they provide full international warranty. But i so dont want to wait till March.

Thanks for your email. We cannot guarantee that the warranty is truly international. We do find in most cases that the service centres in different countries will accept the handset for repair, but not always. It does come with a 2 year UK warranty, but as you mentioned, this may not be suitable for yourself.

You're reading something made up by a third-party reseller listing on Amazon. The below link is for a SGS2 fulfilled by Amazon. You'll notice it says "no warranty" in the product title. There's no such thing as an "international warranty." The warranty is what's offered by Samsung which varies based on where the phone is sold.

I don't know what Samsung's warranty policy is for products sold in India. But you better check where an Indian purchased phone can be repaired otherwise, if it's the same policy as the rest of the world, that's where you'll be sending it should it need repair.

Someone with an ISGS2 that needed a new display got all the way through the process to the point of it being received by the Samsung repair center in TX. When they got it, they sent it back. Samsung, more than any other manufacturer, does everything they can to make grey market imports distasteful. They are the only phone maker that belongs to AGMA.

I bought two Galaxy Nexus units and discovered that one has a defective speaker.
Anyone know if I can mail it directly to Samsung in the UK and they will mail it back to me here in Canada? I don't mind paying the postage to the UK and get it faster rather than having it forwarded to Samsung through unlocked-mobiles.

I used my warranty on both my Nexus One and Nexus S. I got a replacement N1 from HTC and a new PCBA in my NS from Samsung, both free of charge. Both phones were rooted but re-locked before sending them in.
So what's the consensus on the best option for US buyers? One of the official UK sellers? Canadian?

The SGS2's weak link is the way the USB port is mounted. It can come loose and get pushed up in to the phone. It happened to a couple of people. It's too early to tell if the GN has a common failing. For warranty work, you ship the phone to Samsung in the UK and they repair it and pay shipping back.

If you buy from Expansys-USA or Negri you ship the phone to them in the U.S. and they forward it on to their affiliates overseas for repair. It'll cost less for shipping but will take longer. The warranty is intact if you buy it from the UK.
As for Canada, that's a good question. The phone's not being sold directly there it's being offered via the carriers. If the carrier handles the repairs I don't know what happens when you're not a subscriber and don't have an account with them. I don't know if Samsung Canada will directly repair a carrier branded phone. If they will, Canada's a lot faster and cheaper if the phone needs repair.
I bought a Galaxy Note 2 from amazon here in the UK , however the phone that arrived appears to be from India. Should I return it to the seller? If I decide to keep it, can I use the warranty? I'm puzzled.

There shouldn't be any problem. If you want u can flash original UK rom on it and u will gwt updates and everything like phone bought in UK. And as far as i know Samsung has world wide warranty.

Samsung dont have international warranty..
The warranty applies to country of the invoice, if you have a uk invoice than you have a valid warranty in UK and maybe in EU...No problem if it was a imported phone, it is only a problem if the N7100 reference didnt exist in UK, that is not the case.
If it has a India warranty you have to pay to repair it on UK..

Yeah next time when buying from amazon make sure it says ships and sold by Amazon usually its right below the price and buy it button.
For those interested, I contacted the seller about this issue and he said he'll give me 12 months of warranty himself, so I decided to keep the phone.

be smart and react now as its seller warranty so he will get it repaired by himself if anything wrong happens than he will make extra charges saying that this defects has been caused by the user i.e.you so ultimately a lot of fuss for later use .
better return the device now and ask for a complete return and by from an authorized seller that provides warranty from company i.e samsung
as seller warranty phones comes at very low price from the original atleast a 20-30% price drop expected .

I'm willing to take the risk, a year from now on repairs should will be cheap so that's not a problem. Also my chip is 0xf7, so SDS-free.

I live in Israel - but I think this question applies to most countries outside US.
If I buy the Nexus 7 (2013) from Amazon.com and ship to Israel (via a 3rd party shipping company), will I still have the warranty?
In Israel we have ASUSTeK service, but since I know many smartphones (and tablets) have warranty problems when buying internationally I want to be sure.

The Nexus 7, unfortunately, does not have an international warranty. Our Asus offices over there can definitely provide support for your product if needed, but if it ever came to a warranty repair, the faculties over there would not be able to service it.

Well that's not very good. But if I buy it from a local store in Israel - is there a possibility I will have a warranty?
If you are buying from a local store over there, there should be regional coverage. Unless the store is one of those places that imports the device and sells them out-of-region, you should be OK. Some stores will also offer their own warranties on the device - for a fee, though. If you do find one, you can ask them 1) which region is that particular N7 manufactured for. 2) if they offer any service plans/extended warranties for it.
My note 2 was bought in singapore on jan 16 2013 for full price , which was claimed as an international warranty by the shop person.
Now since my note 2 suffered SDS when i took it to samsung service center back in india , they rejected saying mobiles bought outside india are not considered in india. Please help me with a solution guys. its Rs.40,000 ( 750$+ ) not even a year used I did nothing wrong .. used it very carefully dint even root ! This is so cruel by samsung. I bought samsung instead of some Oppo or Mi2 china brand because its International brand now I feel very much cheated !

You can make the greatest product, have the greatest components and the best quality control. If you make enough product, sooner or later you will make bad parts.
If I buy a $2,000 + lens for my camera with a Japan warranty, I can't get warranty work here in the usa. I know this and don't but any of my lenses that aren't usa based.

I was conned by a shop too (in my home country) who sold a grey market item at full price, when my Note 2 got SDS I ended up having to pay US$100 to get it fixed. The phone was only 8 months old when SDS struck. I travel a lot and often bought items in the countries I visited. I realized warranty will be local but I expect the items will be usable for at least 3 years, however my Note 2 died after only 8 months of normal usage (e-mail, browsing, youtube). The phone even was at the latest stock 4.1.2 rom (supposedly contains the bug fix) when it died.
SDS is clearly a manufacturing defect issue, it happens to Galaxy S3 and Note 2 and who knows maybe Note 3 or S4 in next few months.. So many people were complaining about it on the Internet, it should be enough to warrant a product recall or replacement regardless of country of purchase.
This is gonna be my last Samsung phone.

First of all, did u bought from authorised samsung retailer ?
Or u just bought it at neighbourhood shops like in shophouses or chinatown shops, or simlim shops?
To make a very clear, if u bought it at samsung authorised retailer, there's no way they con u. Down here consumer is fully protected by lemon law. So official retailers won't do such thing.
If u r sayin the price is $750 most likely u were not buying from authorised dealer, and u r being con by the individual shop.
But to be frank, since first time I use handphone, nokia, siemens, samsung, there's no such thing as international warranty.
I m sorry, but a lesson learn for u.

This is different is not the same. Samsung sailed faulty devices and rejected the warranty. The problem was known from s3 and they continued to sell the same faulty material probably because they had big stock. Here we heard from users that they send them phones to warranty replacement and the phone many times came back with the same type faulty chip. This is totally wrong and there is no excuse for them.

1) Samsung does not offer international warranties - this is clear in their warranty agreement.
2) The buyer of the phone was lied to by the seller, not Samsung.
3) Samsung did not "reject" the warranty, they'll gladly repair it in the country is was purchased in.
Most international electronic companies have a policy that the device will be serviced in the country it was purchased in. This avoids grey market product and is far more manageable from a service standpoint.

Sorry mate.
Not defending samsung, neither working for samsung. But, from a point of businessman view, when his/her company has produce some fault products, he/she won't throw away the products.
Instead they will still try to sell until the products stock is zero, and if any customer come back with a valid warranty, his/her company will honour it. That is what business world like.
The case of the OP is different, he has been con by unauthorised reseller by confirming him there's an international warranty for the said product if purchase from the said retailer.
And the OP has carelessly accept it without any further checking on the warranty card.
We, as a consumer have to be more careful in purchasing the products that we want.

OK you speaking from a point of businessman, my profession is trader many years now, sometimes not many i had received faulty goods, at once I had return them back to factory and when this wasn't possible I used them or I gave them presents to my friends but never sailed them and if something faulty I didn't understood and went to my customers I changed it at once with no more questions and I asked to excuse me for them hardship. You speak like businessman you said, you think this guy he'll buy Samsung again or you think he'll keep his hardship for himself. The successful business is when is happy the customer with the product and how much flexible you are when he has any problem with it. The happy customer he'll come again and bring and others to your business. This is the law of the market if you want to stay for long.
Now if you are sailing faulty hi end devices and you have the knowledge of this and after you are saying sorry I can't accept your warranty because of my policy sorry but this is naming cheating in my country not company policy.

I can't be more agree abt the market law.
But if ur money is all invested on the faulty products, will u just throw or give as a gift?
What u can do is just to honor ur customer when they come back to u.
Samsung will still honor OP handset, provided he brings back to singapore samsung.
Same thing... when ur customer bring ur product overseas, will u change at his/her country? Or will u ask him/her to bring back to u?

You should send it to Samsung Singapore for repair, don't forget to send an invoice copy, you must pay to send and receive it back...
But, first contact Samsung Singapore to agree all details.

In all countrys except ones from the European Union there is a warranty specific to each country. In the EU there is a free market and that is why the warranty of an electronic device bought from any of the EU countrys is valid in any country part of EU.

Listen mate if you are experienced with sales you know where you put your money. All your money to put somewhere and after etc etc is not for me not for my age not for my experience, second is the same Samsung Korea factory in Singapore and India no? why to don't change his phone?

I will be in Hong Kong from September 10 to 24 with a 3 night layover in Taiwan. I have been looking for the price of the device in Taiwan but I have not been able to find it. I called a shop in Hong Kong who told me their version is Snapdragon not Exynos.
Question:
The CDN version has the $200 off trade in phone promo. Obviously in Asia there is no promo for that, however there is really no tax in Asia.
Anyone know the price of the device in Taiwan? Is it worth paying a premium ($200 ish more) for an Exynos model? Anyone know where I can buy it when I'm in Taiwan; I can't find web stores from Taiwan providing information re: this.
If I buy in Asia, can I get warranty servicing from Samsung in Canada?

Definately worth the extra cash for a bootloader unlocked exynos device.
I dont think sammy Canada will warranty service a non Canadian device though or even if they can as the hardware is slightly different.

The Samsung store sales rep who sold me the note 7 in Canada told me that my warranty will only work in Canada and not internationally.

The international warranty is only mentioned in the South Korea website. The Canadian website has no mention of it.
I guess make sure to check what kind of warranty is offered in the country of purchase because there may be differences.

I just realized that the link I provided says "Samsung Mobile Computer" not mobile phone. I think we should check the fine print before purchasing abroad, if that's important. If I call Samsung Canada's warranty servicing and get an answer I will post it.
Here is my conversation with SS online:
C: Hypothetically, if I purchased a Samsung phone abroad, and there is a problem with it, can I submit the repair to Samsung Canada?
SS: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.
SS: No, if you have purchased the phone abroad and would like to get it repaired in different country, you need to contact local service technicians. Samsung will not repair the phones purchased that are purchased in different countries.
