[Q] No OTA update after rooting and the again after unrooting - LG Optimus G (International)

Hello
I rooted my Optimus G F180L and uninstalled some of the preinstalled apps.
Today I got a Software Update for my phone which I downloaded and was about 50 Mb.
When I tried to install it gave me an error that a rooted device couldn't be OTA updated.
Then I removed root from the SuperSu app but it gives me the same error as if it was still rooted.
I'm guessing it is because of uninstalling those apps.
If that's correct now I'd need to return it back to stock which i don't dare to do without being 100% sure I wont mess it up.
Would a factory reset do the work (how to do it?) or do I need to flash the whole stock ROM?
Any help highly appreciated!!

try to factory reset your phone, if that don't work maybe reflash or check with your phone carrier before doing anything else, maybe they haven't received the update yet.
Because when i run stock rom, i could receive OTA updates even while it was rooted

Would the factory reset bring back even the apps I deleted?

yes, a factory reset brings the phone back to stock, which is how it came out from the LG factory, but only if you run the original LG rom ofc which you do.

you can use a program like Titanium Backup (it requires root), if you wanna save data of the apps you got installed, if you wanna save contacts you can export them to an xml to storage and copy out, and sms' i personally use "SMS Backup & Restore" from Ritesh Sahu does the job good, as long as you don't got any drafting messages.

I downloaded the file "V20t-DEC-20-2013" which was 50,76 MB successfully using mobile 3g network, but after the phone restarts and begins the updating process it gets stuck at 3% ang gives me an error. Then it reboots and gives a message of the device being suspected of root.

hmm, that i never have seen before, but if you want you can download the newest original firmware here: http://lge-phones.org/check-latest-lg-official-firmware
used the site a couple of times myself for my E975 and then flash the whole rom.
because i never had a problem, but maybe it's just different in some countries.
but if you decide to use LG's flashing tool remember to backup your data on your computer, or else they will be lost because LG's tool formats the phone totally.

I got similiar problem when update ota to v20t. How to solved it?

[Q] How to stop or get rid of new OTA nag?

I've seen people mention using titanium backup to freeze the device manager or updater app. Something to that effect.

thanks but i don't have a clue what that means.
i installed Kies on my pc to try and find the download and "push" it through with Odin, but Kies tells me my firmware is good.
i have NO idea where to dl the newest OTA from T-Mobile and then i'd have NO idea how to push it with Odin.
help, someone????
Titanium backup is an app from the market. With it you can uninstall system apps, or simply "freeze" them, meaning they are still there but no longer allowed to run.
"Device management" is the system app that's notifying you of the available ota update.
So, to answer your original question, download titanium backup and use it to freeze device management in order to get rid of the ota notification.
All this assumes of course that you are rooted and running a custom ROM. If you aren't on a custom ROM, then I wouldn't understand your wanting to avoid the update, as it appears it doesn't affect your ability to root, and may not even unroot your device.

i wasn't trying to avoid it, i was originally trying to install it, but Clockwork wouldn't let me; a couple people in here tried to offer 'halfway' help, but stopped answering my questions, so i mainly just wanted to get rid of the nag, since the mod i flashed got me to 2.3.6 anyway.
turns out that Perfect Backup let me clear the Device Mgmt data, and that got rid of the nag. so i didn't have to pay for Titanium Backup (can't freeze stuff unless you pay for it).
so the resolution is that once i'd flashed to 2.3.6 the OTA was just in some kind of cache, i guess, and all i had to do was clear it.

i just went through the exact same problem. go get Deodexed KL1 (i think it's a stock ROM) and it'll do what the new update is going to do, flash you to 2.3.6.
flash the modem, too, with Odin (KL1 modem) and then find your Device Management 10.* and Clear the Data using Perfect Backup (free).
i was unable to get rid of that nag/notification until i did that.
there may be other ways of Clearing the Data for Device Mgmt - maybe in App Manager. In any case, when i cleared the data the nag was gone.

Flash Mr X's deodexed stock rom. the rom your device downloaded is designed to work with your phones stock recovery and not with clockwork mod. X's rom works with CWM.

[Q] Stop OTA for Samsung GS 2 on T-Mobile
Hello!
My wife has a rooted GS 2 with the stock ROM from TMO. I am concerned that the new OTA (T989VUVKL1)might break her root functionality, cause repeated update notification, or cause her phone to no longer work. Does anyone know the app or file I need to freeze or delete to stop the OTA from happening? At this point she is also getting the notification to update (eek!) At some point I will want to upgrade the ROM to the newest one assuming I can keep root access. Thank you for all your help and support!

[Q] titanium restore stuck

I was restoring the apps with titanium. and i have to click install on every app, because I am using the free version of it.
During this process I press the home button and under notification I see the titanium restore is in process but looks like its stuck. I think its at the stage where it ask for the prompt and wait until you click on "install" button.
Is there anyway that allow me to bring that button to front using "bringToFront" app or some command that I can run in terminal?
I don't want to reboot the phone and start over again.
Anyone?

buy the pro version it will make your life easier dude!! and well yea that used to happen to me too and for some reason i bought the pro version and since it does it by itself i guess that solved the problem but since then i havent had any troubles with it...
Apps can get stuck sometimes when restoring. Best thing to do is kill/stop the process & manually install the stuck app. Worst case is try to install app w/o the data or you can reinstall via Play Store.

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro can't uninstall stock apps

Hi,
I recently updated my Hercules T989 to Jellybean 4.1.2 via Kies. When I was on ICS, I could easily uninstall the t-mobile stock apps(or any other stock apps) using Titanium Backup Pro. But after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I cant uninstall a single stock app. I tried updating Titanium backup pro from 4.1 to 4.5.6 but its still the same. It can freeze the apps but one app: 't-mobile accounts' unfreezes itself. I dont know how it happens. By the way, the device is rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure Titanium Backup has root permissions? Check your Superuser app log and make sure they're being granted. You need root access for Titanium Backup to be able to remove/freeze system apps (like the built-in stuff).

Yes, I have checked it. TB has been granted root permissions. TB successfully freezes all my system apps. But only one app - "T-Mobile My Accounts" unfreezes itself automatically after a while. I dont know how or why that happens. All my other system apps stay frozen except that one single app. And about uninstalling, none of the system apps can be uninstalled. When I run the batch operation to uninstall, it shows the progress bar but gets stuck at 0%. No progress at all.

TB freezes all my stock apps. but as I mentioned earlier, one app - "T-Mobile My accounts" unfreezes itself after a while. And when I try uninstalling any stock apps, it just gets stuck. The progress bar doesnt move (show any progress). I am attaching a link to a screenshot about what happens.

Please if anyone has found the solution to this problem, I would be very very grateful.
PS. : As other members suggested, I have checked everything. The Chuck Norris mode is on. TB has root permissions. Everything seems to be in order.

Sounds like you are using a stock based ROM then. So you will have to live with that app. Otherwise you may cause problems by trying to delete or freeze it. Anybody that is determined to remove it, you can use a root based file explorer and delete the apk from the system/app folder. Backup the app somewhere by copying & pasting it in another folder, so you can replace it later if you start experiencing issues.

[Q] Help!! many problems after root No Tripping Flash Counter - [Rogers ]

I am Rogers user , I followed mrRobinson's thread ( [HOWTO] [ROOT] No Tripping Flash Counter - [ATT / Bell / Telus / Rogers / Sasktel] http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426)exactly. I try to downgrad from stock 4.1.2 to 4.1.1.
Everthing went smoothly in Odin stage, I used the file name (root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4.tar.md5) designed for Rogers. after the phone restarted, the phone was set back to 4.1.1. the configuration is exactly the way it was, it didn't go to factory reset. I didn't lost any app or data. all the phone setting seems to be OK. I didn't lose cell signal, Mobile data, ect.
then nightmare begin, al lot annoying error msgs keeping poping up "unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped", "unfortunately, TouchWiz Home has stopped", "unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped", I have to keep continue to hit Ok get rid of these msgs, a simple task like slide btw screens, and openning up a app take foreve
as soon as I opened up play store, these error msgs keep showing up. after I hit OK, the play store just closed. Same thing for the phone app. I can't even make a phone call, it just keeping shutting down
I did go thru many replies on his OP. it seems nobody got this type of error. Please help!!!

is this the only option now? I am wondering what is the cause. the OP didn't say we need to do factory reset and wipe data before flash his root injected stock image.
thanks,
The OP assumes that you are not downgrading, and using a stock touchwiz Rom, in which case you do not have to wipe anything. What happened to you is normal if you try to downgrade without wiping.

Corect. Almost always when downgrading will you get these force closes. When you down grade you have to do a complete factory reset

Sideloading 5.0.2 help

Can someone point me to directions on sideloading 5.0.2 for the Nexus 7 2013 wifi edition?
I'm on 5.0 with root and wanted to take the OTA to 5.0.2 but when I try to install it, the tablet boots into TWRP recovery and I don't know if I can do anything from there.
I tried downloading 5.0.2 from a website and using twrp recovery to flash it, but it failed. Maybe it wasn't for the wifi tablet.
I looked into reinstalling stock recovery but it doesn't seem all that easy.
If someone can even just point me to a thread with some info, that would be great!
Easiest thing to do would be to download this ROM and flash it in recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex.../rom-factory-stock-rooted-rom-lrx22g-t3004110
I was able to get sick recovery back using the nexus root tool kit. I wiped data and cache but I lost everything... Pictures and documents as well as APS. I knew I'd lose apps though.
I did a backup with TB but the backup for wiped out as well. I never change the settings in TB, so the backup was made to the tablet and not the SD card.
I had a few things saved to the SD card and they're gone too. It really sucks that I lost my photos. I didn't have a lot nor anything really important but still. I could never figure out how to get the camera to save photos to the SD card and not internal storage.
Anyway. I gave up for tonight. If I try to take the OTA update, the tablet reboots and I just get the android on his back with the error message. I'm going to try removing root and see if that helps. I'm back to stock otherwise.. Nothing frozen and nothing uninstalled.
