[Q] Can not enter download mode - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I am not new to the rooting scene. But I am stuck on this issue
I am attempting to enter download mode for my Samsung Tablet 3 10.1 Wifi.
I am pressing the power / down volume combo and I get to the boot screen and let go. From here it goes right into recovery mode
I get the screen with the android and it says no command / error and stops there with the recovery options.
At this time I am on stock 4.2.2 and been trying to get this error figured out. I have searched briefly on here and googled other solutions but they all require to get into download mode, which I am having trouble getting to.
Any suggestions ? Or point me to a solution

But the download method is by pressing (home+volume down + power) 3 combo not two as you mentioned

Hi !
Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried that method as well and it still sends me to the recovery screen. Though I did manage to see a new screen that gave me a option to press volume up to continue and volume down to reboot. When I pressed volume up it just rebooted normally

Thanks again..

[Q] Can't seem to enter recovery mode.

Hi, I'm trying to flash Clockworkmod using this method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446593&highlight=clockworkmod+recovery&page=10
But now I don't seem to be able to get it to go into recovery mode at all any more.
I hold down up home and pwer and it gets to the screen with the picture of the android and the box with the arrow coming out of it. But then it just seems to reboot.
The phone still works other than that.
Is there a knack to getting it into recovery mode thaqt I just haven't got?
Ok I've managed to get it into recovery (but only once- there's clearly a knack to it I'm missing)
But the problem now is that it's still the stock recovery.
My phone is rooted and debugging is on.
any ideas (on either)
u use adb to flash? if that didnt work y not try to flash using odin v4.43?

I seem to have the same problem, did you figure out how to go in recovery without getting reboot right after you press the menu button?
EDIT: I might have been pressing buttons in the wrong order or too long/short. As soon as I see samsung logo I released power button and I holded menu button a bit longer. I'm not sure about the last one tried again with a short press and it worked as well, I think the most important thing here is when to release power button.

[Q] Recovering from a soft-brick help [Volume Up and ADB not working]

Hello,
I am stuck in a unique situation for which I did not find any answer while searching this forum. Any help is appreciated.
I have CM 10 installed on my S3 and am currently stuck in an infinite boot loop (forever stuck on the Cyanogenmod splash screen at boot-up). The problem is, I can't enter recovery because my Volume UP key does not work. I also tried ADB, and it won't detect my phone because most probably it does not have USB debugging enabled.
I have the necessary drivers for S3 installed and know for a fact that ADB is working, because it can see my wife's S3 just fine and I can send commands to it. Yet, it cannot detect my S3.
ODIN *CAN* detect my phone, but since I cannot enter download mode....I can't flash anything.
Is there anything I can try to get into recovery? Or anything else? Thanks for the help.
Download mode is volume down+power+home, you should have no problem getting to download mode.

After doing this, the phone first shows a warning screen and tells you to press Volume UP to continue, which, I can't.

[Q] Tab 3 7.0wont boot into download mode

I have spent the last 45 minutes attempting to boot my brand new Tab 3 7.0 into DL mode, and have failed miserably. Im now at a loss. Rather than hawping like an angry chimp, i ask for assistance. Is there another way to access DL mode rather than using the physical Power+Volume Down combination? Please advise.
Many thanks.
adb
nevermind. used adb commands. duh.

Glad you got it.
The Button combo you used is the right one. I guess you also have Samsung phones. On the Tablet it works a little different. You gotta keep all the buttons pressed until the Samsung logo appears. Then let go of the power button but keep the other ones pressed until DL mode appears. That way you don't have to use ADB all the time!

[Q] Need Help - SM T705 stuck on start up screen.

Greetings XDA Developers,
Newbie here. I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S (SM T705). I was able to root it a few weeks ago and I decided to install a custom recovery (TWRP) using an app from the Playstore named "TWRP Manager". I didn't hesitate to do so using this method because I was able to install TWRP on my GT I9300 successfully from the past using this app. However, after being prompted by the app that the recovery was successfully installed and needs to reboot the device, my tab was stuck on start up screen ( See attached photo ). I tried long pressing the power button but nothing happened. I waited until the device ran out of battery and when it did, I plugged in the charger and I'm back at the same screen. After google-ing some possible solutions, I tried to boot it into recovery but was unsuccessful, however, I was able to boot into download mode.
I'd like to ask for the help of some "experienced" users in this forum on how to solve this problem. And if possible, I'm hoping that flashing a stock recovery using Odin wouldn't be my last resort.
Thank you in advance.

Your going to need some fast hands for this one! I've ran into this lots of times when testing kernels and such. Any force reboot by holding Power Button+ Home Button + BOTH Volume buttons all at the same time. Press and hold that combo until the screen goes black. Then once the screen goes black quickly press and hold Power Button+ Home Button + Volume down buttons all at the same time. You should no enter into download mode. You said that you drained the battery so I would suggest charging it in download mode for 30 minutes or so then flash TWRP with Odin.
Your going to need to flash stock recovery or TWRP with Odin to override the boot and get it working
The TWRP app doesn't always work in which is why I use Odin.

As a side note for future reference, hard reset is simply hold POWER + VOL DOWN.
As said all you need do is boot to download mode and flash recovery.
If you're on lollipop you may need to immediately boot into recovery after flashing to make it stick.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. But how exactly do I "immediately boot into recovery after flashing to make it stick." Since after I flash recovery via odin, it would obviously automatically reboot my device? sorry for the dumb question.

Both are the same I think. Some people name it by our product name or device name (one has xx and one doesn't. Both are the same)

You either be quick and hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP as soon as it reboots or you uncheck auto reboot in Odin then restart manually.

Dude, try holding volume down plus home button (if it has one) for 30 sec. If this doesn't work try holding volume up and home button (only if it has one).

no it doesn't have a home button , and nothing will stop it , what i noticed tho that if i hold vol down and the power button the next time the logo will disappear way faster but only once each hold and ill get a delay of 2 seconds before that logo appearing again and the phone rebooting , its been literally 62 hours since it started doing this , it started with a battery fully charged meaning a 5000ma , about that delay i tried using it but nothing worked , i tried clicking vol up and power button which is supposed to put the phone in recovery mode but nothing happens , i went as far as spamming random buttons to holding them for more than a minute , nothing stops it

Then you hard bricked your device, sorry to tell you that. Take it to a service, and see if they can do anything to it, but you most surely bricked the hell out of your device, up to the point of no return.

If you want to boot into download mode try this:
When you see Samsung logo immediately press volume up + down and while holding connect the phone to PC using Type-C.
A warning screen will appear now press Volume Up button to boot into Download mode.

Download mode not open for me :crying: :crying: :crying:
If you are stuck on Samsung Logo, connect to PC and press Vol Down + Power for 7 seconds. It will go to charge mode. Disconnect from PC and it will power off automatically. After that press Volume Up + Down and connect to PC while holding and you will enter download mode. It will ask for confirmation.
Useful. Works

Thank you for this post. I did this and my phone booted to TWRP. (I was flashing TWRP when I encountered the bootloop)
After booting to TWRP, I did an advanced wipe (I left System unchecked). After the wipe, the phone booted normally.
