[Q] voicemail with CM11 on sprint note 2 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I just successfully updated to CM11 and I no longer have a voicemail app and I can't seem to find a way to check voicemail (I left myself one, so I know one should be there.) I tried reading and searching, but couldn't find anything.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Ok, well I found the voicemail apk , but now I can't stop getting the 9016 text. URGH! Looking around it looks like blacklisting is the best option? I don't use google voice, but I do you hangouts for sms.

I've never had any luck getting a VM app to work on any of the custom ROMS I've tried as it would work on TouchWiz. To access my VM on Sprint I call my own phone number. You can add a one touch dial widget to dail your phone number to make it a bit more automated.

I'd rec Google Voice. Works like a charm all the time...and isn't feature bricked like Sprint VVM. Oh yea and works on any ROM.

Thanks for advice It helped me, i switched to visual voicemail app though

[Q] How can I re-enable visual voice mail?

After flipping between ROMS, I find my VVM is no longer working, nothing goes to my VVM. Even when I get voicemails, they do not show up in that app.
I did do something once when using CM6, I got a text message from that 9016 and called the number it said to retrieve it. Ever since my VVM has not been working. I am currently running Baked. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem on the Baked 1.5 rom. It tells me that I have a voicemail, but is unable to retrieve.
If it were me, I'd flash a stock rooted rom. See if voicemail works with that. If it doesn't, call customer service and tell them you are having problems with visual voice mail retrieval and if they would be so kind as to give your voice mail a full reset on their side.

Here's a few I googled and some possible fixes.
Oh, this is for the text from 9016 snafu. I don't know if it will help you.
Make sure under Call / Voicemail Settings that it displays your phone number. Otherwise I would wipe and reflash.

Lol. You will keep getting that txt. I'm not going to flame you but if you would of searched the forum you would of seen my post on vvm from yesterday or used the search feature I'm sure it would of popped up with vvm.
Anyways use the app private conversation from the market. Has a blacklist. Can do just SMS, phone call, and both SMS and phone call from a number. This is what I used.
Now go to settings and call setting, voicemail and make sure your phone number is in there if not change it. Mine was *86 so I had to change the number to mine. There ya go. Please do a little effort on searching. I use the xda app and the search always brings up roms and themes most of the time instead of what I'm looking for but I still try first and go to the forums and go through a big list.
Hope this helps.

You the man! This was the problem (for me at least). It had the option of using "carrier" or "google voice" for voicemail and neither one was checked. I'm assuming that's because the data wipe and installation of a new rom. I checked carrier and tested it out. It's now good to go.
Thanks!
Got it working =]
@martyzidek: I did search first, but I was probably overly specific and got no results from my search =[
@herbthehammer: I did just that, installed a plain rooted 2.2, and for good measure I then ran a Master Reset (##786#) since I already knew my code from trying to update the PRI. I double checked that my voicemail # was showing up correctly (thanks @dglowe343), then had my girlfriend call and leave a message. I then received 6 voicemails all at once: the one that my girlfriend just left and the 5 others that didn't show up. =]

[Q] MIUI & visual voice mail?

How can I get visual voice mail on MIUI? I do not like having to dial to get my voice mails. Weird, I know. I did a search, but could not find anything for the Evo.

You can get the visual voicemail feature through Google Voice - free. It will guide you through setting up conditional forwarding so that it goes to your google voice voicemail. You can download the Google Voice app from the market to see transcriptions and also play your vmails directly like VVM.

Thanks. I am going to try to set it up, but I like Sprint VM because I am used to it and it is simple.

Thanks man. I am looking over that web site and I am impressed.
Sprint VVM on Miui/AOSP
Here. Flash this file from recovery. No need to wipe anything. Then use the free version of Super Private Conversation from the market to block the annoying texts (just blacklist 9016).
Before flashing the VVM file I would be sure your inbox is empty first. I've used this method since my Hero on AOSP and it works on Miui as well.
I can confirm that Sprint VVM works just fine on MIUI. Been using it since I flashed MIUI in November and have not had a single issue.
I just flashed that voicemail zip over miui because i love Sprint visual voicemail.
Works great, thank you!

[Q] Anyone know how to set up ATT Visual Voice Mail?

Right out of the box?
AT&T needs to turn it on first.
Start app.
It will call your voice mail.
then enter pin.

Okay, so when I activate my device, do I need to call ATT to turn it on?
I thought its a paid feature? Just use Google Voice instead
Google Voice did not seem to be working on my phone. Anyone able to get it working on theirs, or is there some issue with Google Voice and the S3 for now?
AT&T Messages
you need to get AT&T Messages from the Google Play Store you will get all you message, Voicemail, and calls in one spot.
From the main/home screen go two screens to the left and click on the AT&T Messages icon. It will walk you through the setup as mentioned above. I believe it specifically states the service is free (as it should be).
Now my question is why didn't they put this on the main/home screen? Why not make it the default? Who wouldn't want VVM?

There is already a thread about google voice's voice mail. You just have to dial a number to activate it. On mine it still says Carrier Voice mail, but my missed calls actually go to google's voice mail.
I went to the Play Store and downloaded AT&T's Visual Voicemail app. That worked well.

OK so we have two choices for VVM. Does anyone have enough experience to compare the pros and cons of each?

Visual Voice mail is great for voice mail. Really nice app. Love it.
AT&T messages combines text, voice mail, ect. rendering your regular messaging app useless or getting double notifications, and you can't turn them off from the at&t app. (it is basically the devil. And I made just to disable it as soon as I got the phone.)
Just my .02

I'm pretty unimpressed with this. I don't know why, but it bugs me to have to manually type in my google VM number to each forward field.

that's why you call the # code.
art vvm app is OK, but Google voice has a cleaner look and operation. neither is intuitive to set up though so read the directions.
att messages is terrible and should be disabled or uninstalled or nuked from orbit.
No matter what I do I can't get att visual voicemail to work. The app tells me that it is has not received a response from att. I've called att and my account is set up correctly but the app still doesn't work so I just gave up and use YouMail.

CM 10.1 voicemail issues

First, I have a d2tmo so I'm unfamiliar with the d2spr builds. I'm actually writing about my brother's and I haven't seen this issue mentioned in other threads. Basically the problem is twofold:
(1) He can access his phone's internal voice mail just fine and it registers his key presses perfectly. But when he tries to access his work voice mail, it seems as if it does not register his key presses at all (i.e. when he tries to press a key to delete or do anything, it just continues as if nothing had been pressed). This so far seems to only affect accessing his work voicemail remotely. I confirmed it is working on my d2tmo. Have there been key press issues with the dialer?
(2) Whenever he gets voice mails, two things happen. First, he gets an SMS saying "[Person] has sent you a voice SMS message, please dial [CA phone number] to listen." When he dials it, it gives him a busy signal. He also gets random texts from #9016 saying he's received a voice mail as well. From what I've read this sometimes is caused by visual voice mail issues on different phone models, but he has no visual voice mail installed. Is this a common issue with the GSIII?
Other than these two issues, he loves CM 10.1, so I'd like to help him out and solve them.
Any help is appreciated; thanks.

Well known problem.... It's how Sprint notifies the visual voicemail app to download the message.
You can download root call blocker and permanently block them, but you will never get another notification as to you having a message.
Option 2 is what I did. I installed Sprint Visual Voicemail, downloaded Red List from the marketplace. Turned off stock message notifications to hide the text, in the redlist app I blacklisted 9016 and turned on the notifications in it. This causes the notification to come from redlist, not the message app and redlist deletes the text messages so you don't have to deal with them. They pop through with just enough time for the VVM app to know to download it so you get your messages as well.
Theres a fix for the text from 9016, try googling "disabling texts from 9016 cm10" because it was an issue starting wih jellybean for most phones

Would anyone happen to have a link to a version of Sprint VVM that will run on a CM10.1 ROM? (CarbonRom at the moment.)

If you google "Visual voicemail for CM10 xda" you'll find one that should work on CM10.1 as well (its posted somewhere here on xda)

[Q] Is there a link to Sprint Visual Voicemail that work?

I"m rocking the Halo series II Nova on my Evo. I like it pretty much except for a few glitches here and there. I've been researching here and google too, and I must have tried four or five files. None of which fixed my vvm. Can anyone help me with this? Should I be reporting my problems with the Halo any where? I would like to try a supported ROM if anyone knows of something that can be used as a daily driver. Umm....Suggestions are welcome. lol Thanks.

That was one of the first ones I tried. How is the AlienMod working for you?
I changed my ROM to the Bleu Mynt and installed the latest gapps and Sprint-VVM-from-E4GT-ICS-FE10. This is by far the best set up yet. I have not encountered one problem yet. Visual Voicemail works just fine.

AlienMod is stable and smooth although I do use Seeder to avoid lags that I experience occasionally with both AlienMod and Halo. Since I use Google Voice, I haven't used Sprint Voice Mail for a while though.
I was able to install the Sprint Visual Voice Mail apk, and the app appears to function normally although Google Voice receives all voice messages preventing me from confirming that new Sprint VVM receives new messages properly.

It doesn't work properly on Halo or Solar Flare.. I loved the layout, function, and apps on both of them, but I couldn't get the Sprint voicemail to work on either so I wandered away. I'm really digging the Bleu Mynt Rom. I haven't encountered one bug yet. I'm trying to figure out if I can participate in reporting problems and receiving updates. I'm not sure how or where to go about that. I can't post on the Bleu Mynt thread yet. I'm new to all this and I'm trying to learn all I can so I can develop my own ROM. I've been absorbed in this forum for a week.... Like all my free time is spent here and jacking with my phone. What other sites do you recommend for one to get educated on all things Android?
