CM 10.1 voicemail issues - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

First, I have a d2tmo so I'm unfamiliar with the d2spr builds. I'm actually writing about my brother's and I haven't seen this issue mentioned in other threads. Basically the problem is twofold:
(1) He can access his phone's internal voice mail just fine and it registers his key presses perfectly. But when he tries to access his work voice mail, it seems as if it does not register his key presses at all (i.e. when he tries to press a key to delete or do anything, it just continues as if nothing had been pressed). This so far seems to only affect accessing his work voicemail remotely. I confirmed it is working on my d2tmo. Have there been key press issues with the dialer?
(2) Whenever he gets voice mails, two things happen. First, he gets an SMS saying "[Person] has sent you a voice SMS message, please dial [CA phone number] to listen." When he dials it, it gives him a busy signal. He also gets random texts from #9016 saying he's received a voice mail as well. From what I've read this sometimes is caused by visual voice mail issues on different phone models, but he has no visual voice mail installed. Is this a common issue with the GSIII?
Other than these two issues, he loves CM 10.1, so I'd like to help him out and solve them.
Any help is appreciated; thanks.

Well known problem.... It's how Sprint notifies the visual voicemail app to download the message.
You can download root call blocker and permanently block them, but you will never get another notification as to you having a message.
Option 2 is what I did. I installed Sprint Visual Voicemail, downloaded Red List from the marketplace. Turned off stock message notifications to hide the text, in the redlist app I blacklisted 9016 and turned on the notifications in it. This causes the notification to come from redlist, not the message app and redlist deletes the text messages so you don't have to deal with them. They pop through with just enough time for the VVM app to know to download it so you get your messages as well.

Theres a fix for the text from 9016, try googling "disabling texts from 9016 cm10" because it was an issue starting wih jellybean for most phones

Would anyone happen to have a link to a version of Sprint VVM that will run on a CM10.1 ROM? (CarbonRom at the moment.)

If you google "Visual voicemail for CM10 xda" you'll find one that should work on CM10.1 as well (its posted somewhere here on xda)

[Q] How can I re-enable visual voice mail?

After flipping between ROMS, I find my VVM is no longer working, nothing goes to my VVM. Even when I get voicemails, they do not show up in that app.
I did do something once when using CM6, I got a text message from that 9016 and called the number it said to retrieve it. Ever since my VVM has not been working. I am currently running Baked. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem on the Baked 1.5 rom. It tells me that I have a voicemail, but is unable to retrieve.
If it were me, I'd flash a stock rooted rom. See if voicemail works with that. If it doesn't, call customer service and tell them you are having problems with visual voice mail retrieval and if they would be so kind as to give your voice mail a full reset on their side.

Here's a few I googled and some possible fixes.
Oh, this is for the text from 9016 snafu. I don't know if it will help you.
Make sure under Call / Voicemail Settings that it displays your phone number. Otherwise I would wipe and reflash.

Lol. You will keep getting that txt. I'm not going to flame you but if you would of searched the forum you would of seen my post on vvm from yesterday or used the search feature I'm sure it would of popped up with vvm.
Anyways use the app private conversation from the market. Has a blacklist. Can do just SMS, phone call, and both SMS and phone call from a number. This is what I used.
Now go to settings and call setting, voicemail and make sure your phone number is in there if not change it. Mine was *86 so I had to change the number to mine. There ya go. Please do a little effort on searching. I use the xda app and the search always brings up roms and themes most of the time instead of what I'm looking for but I still try first and go to the forums and go through a big list.
Hope this helps.

You the man! This was the problem (for me at least). It had the option of using "carrier" or "google voice" for voicemail and neither one was checked. I'm assuming that's because the data wipe and installation of a new rom. I checked carrier and tested it out. It's now good to go.
Thanks!
Got it working =]
@martyzidek: I did search first, but I was probably overly specific and got no results from my search =[
@herbthehammer: I did just that, installed a plain rooted 2.2, and for good measure I then ran a Master Reset (##786#) since I already knew my code from trying to update the PRI. I double checked that my voicemail # was showing up correctly (thanks @dglowe343), then had my girlfriend call and leave a message. I then received 6 voicemails all at once: the one that my girlfriend just left and the 5 others that didn't show up. =]

Google Voice routing bug

So I just got my GN, and it's pretty freakin awesome! One thing I noticed though is that if I swipe calls to the left to ignore, it sends them to my new voicemail on verizon as opposed to my GV. If I let it ring all the way through though, then it routes to GV. It's not a super big deal because I can just push the power button and ignore calls that way, but still...
Also, the messaging sends through regular texts, and not GV...this last part I had heard before, but in case anyone else didn't know that.
Here's hoping they update the GV app to take care of these things.
My voicemail routing works correctly, however you're right on the auto-reply texts. Even with Google Voice set as the default action for messaging, they still send via the stock app.

Are you on verizon?
I went through a hassle to get Google Voice setup correctly on this phone. Had to upgrade my Voice account to a full Google Voice number, instead of just a voicemail number. Doesn't really matter, since I'm only using the voicemail functionality of it, but still.
Go to the phone and call *71 and your number (so *718001112222 if your GV number was 800-111-2222) and it'll set the call forwarding up correctly. Just have to make sure it's a *FULL* Google Voice number (can be done on the website - voice.google.com)

Yes, I am on Verizon. I use a full Google Voice account for calls, voicemails, and texts, and have call screening services turned off. I now use it on Galaxy Nexus and a Galaxy Tab 10.1; it's a wonderful setup.
On a side note, I did not have to call the routing number to set up my Voicemail forwarding. I simply selected "ok" both times during the Android setup process, ignoring the warnings about "incompatibility."
You should double-check your settings: https://www.google.com/voice#phones

My send to Google voicemail is working correctly when I dismiss a call, but the text messaging option still tries to use the built in messaging app even though I disabled it.
Anyone know a way to force it to use Google Voice for text messaging?
Thanks for suggestions everyone. Just did the *71 thing and will check to see if it worked when I get to work.
Not sure what you mean by full gv account... I use it for everything, so I'm assuming I am on full.
I also pushed OK and ignored the incompatible warning, but that didn't work last night... Maybe because of 4.0.2? Either way, hopefully im fixed now.

Edit: Just checked, the *71 plus the GV number did the trick. Thanks again everyone.

How do I stop 9016 text messages?

I have tried everything I know to stop the texts from 9016, but they keep coming. When I was having network issues, I installed google voice, but since its been removed I keep getting these. I turned the notifications off in google voice before I deleted it, I have tried sending a recorded message to [email protected] or whatever, I have tried sending a message to myself. I have tried blocking text via sprints website, I have tried blocking texts via the text blocker app built into the phone.....anyone help?

100 views and no info?
call Sprint customer service or maybe tech support. I've personally got no idea what a 9016 text is, so it's possible that no one else here knows either.
Go to the market and install mycalculator by chirpapps and put in 9016

black list the number..
go sms has the ability
along with many other security apps
just block it.
the 9016 is something to do with google voice having to forward your calls to get voicemails. Once I removed google voice, i continue to get the 9016 message, along with the notification from the voicemail app

I'm assuming you have a 3rd party sms/mms. Go into your third party settings and make sure "disable stock notifications" is NOT checked. Head over to your stock sms/mms and disable notifications.
If that doesn't work, uninstall your 3rd party and reinstall. When installing don't disable stock notifications if prompted to.

Subscribe to voicemail text transcription then unsubcribe. It might take a couple of days but it will stop
9016 is a related to visual voicemail voice to text service. A rom has to block it at a java level if doesnt include working visual voicemail. I had this issue on htc evo. Or yes blacklist it.

Voicemail issue

Hello i just recently installed the cyanogenmod nightlymod 10 on my Nexus and when i press and hold 1 to access voicemail i get "Is an unrecongnized number please try again" and when i get a text message or notification saying you have voicemail call this number, which is the same number that is setup in my voice mail options i get the same issue.
I had no issues prior to this
Believe you open phone and choose settings. From there you can set up your number for voicemail. Only way to handle texts is to block them. Used to be a code you could send through text to stop them but I never got it to work.
Been awhile since I ran cm10, but believe most set up that way.

Annoying Visual Voicemail Behavior: Is This Normal?

Whenever I miss a phone call, I get TWO notifications. One of them informing me that I've got a voicemail and telling me to dial 1-800-whatever, T-mobile's standard Voicemail #.
Then a second or two later, I get a second notification from the Visual Voicemail app informing me of the same message.
Is this standard behavior for T-mobile and their Visual Voicemail App? It seems like it shouldn't be, because its annoying.
If not, how do I fix the issue and eliminate the redundant notifications?
Phone is 4.1.1 completely stock.

It sounds like the app didn't configure your voicemail correctly when you switched. Try updating to the latest visual voicemail and then go to settings>applications. Find Visual Voicemail and clear data. After that open the app and set it up again. Hopefully it will fix the issue.
Can alternatively use Google Voice. Better in every way.

I disagree. On by my S2 and S3 when I go to play a message with google voice it starts to play for a second, I hold it up to my ear and it stops. I have to hit play once or twice more to get it to play. The only benefit I've found to google voice is the speech to text engine which doesn't form readable sentences most of the time. The other issue with google voice is if you have your phone off or dead it will go to your original voicemail because your phone is what actually redirects the number to google voice when it is on.
I do not have any of these issues on my S3.
TTS (and reverse TTS) has never been good. All implementations, never found one that was even half-way decent.
The call forwarding settings on saved on the carrier side. Not the phone. This is evident when you attempt to change said settings, and why the settings are saved even after total wipes. It does not make any logical sense that the call would not appear in your GVoice inbox. After a quick test, I've learned that it works as I expected.
Not sure where you went wrong. Working on all fronts here.
