Will that change any of the specs, unlocking it? Since it's not intended for verizon's network

I found this on Google in less than 20 seconds...
Thinking of unlocking a Verizon Wireless LTE phone for use on AT&T's network, or vice versa? Think again. Verizon Wireless confirmed today that its LTE phones will not "be compatible on other LTE networks in the U.S." because "the phones will be on different frequencies," according to Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney.

Can you guys get to the Phone Info screen with the radio menu's? I heard they were taking that out of Sense 4.0, but if not this might be worth looking into. Rezound dev's have it working on GSM now with S-Off running MIUI, If this phone has "hidden" CDMA radios we could have a lot of cross platform dev's without them all having the same phones.

It doesn't. Nor does it have LTE. thus phone will never work on Verizon save someone opening it themselves and transplanting some CDMA radios into it using sorcery.

The AT&T model won't work on Verizon either. The Rezound is a world phone that's why it works on GSM.
Nice insult though.

Hi,
I basically want to know if there is any difference between these devices, other than network provider lock.
Can you use the ROMs interchangeably?
I think the tmo model does support att's bands and u can probably interchange roms as well like on the tmo s2 and the skyrocket

We don't know for sure yet that the ROMs will be interchangeable. However, given that most T-Mobile phones support the 850/1900 NAM bands (GSM) needed for AT&T HSPA+, as long as the phone is unlocked it should work fine.

The Galaxy S2 did. Reading the specs page on the Tmobile website, I've come to the conclusion that the bands are identical to the AT&T variant's. I'm going to be doing the same thing.
Will hspa+ work? If so, tmo users who will be paying full price would be better off
Buying from att because its less than tmos full price cost.
Plus wireless tethering would work Because tmo doesn't have imei # of att phone.
Can anyone confim?
i would like to know this as well, paying 549 if a lot better than 639.

FYI only T-MO has HSPA +42 version of the S3 for those looking to buy from At&t.
anyone can confirm this?? does the gs3 from tmo works on att HSPA+ and vice versa and if the tmo gs3 works internationally on 3g networks.
All right, unlocked my T999 galaxy s3, put my AT&T micro sim in phone but I get no data. I can make phone calls no problem.Do I have to do anything with the APN settings?
Thank you!!
You need to make an AT&T APN. Also the AT&T version will not get 3G on T-Mobile without at the very least a modem flash.

O.K. just added a couple ATT apn settings still no data.any other suggestions?
By the way i have a 4g micro sim.Thought Tmobile S3 had ATT hspa+ bands.
Got apn settings from these forums.
Might want to do a lot of research before trying to flash an att ROM on tmo or vice versa. I heard the tmo phones are quad core.

how did you unlock your phone? did you just buy a code or did you try one of the XDA methods?

Was at Worst Buy today, they said would price match any online price for the Note 2, plus offer me free insurance if broken, or any issues.
I was gonna get the true international Note 2, but worried if it has issued or warranty problems, it would be much easier to just go back to Best Buy than to have to mail it off, out of the country.
So, that being said, I am on Straight Talk, I hate being raped by the carriers and handcuffed into outdated contract system. Would the ATT Note 2 work on my Straight Talk SIM ? Or does the phone need to be unlocked first ?
I never unlocked a phone before. But I always root and install custom ROM the first day I take phone out of the box. Does rooting a phone, automatically unlock it too ?
And how bout HSPA+ ? Straight Talk doesn't do LTE yet, just HSPA+ I know the ATT Note 2 is LTE, but does it also have HSPA+ too, or just slower 3G ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You would have to unlock it, either buy scrounging a code or going to the carrier and asking for one. Rooting doesn't automatically unlock the device. As far as 4G I really dunno, but I'm sure someone will tell you.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I believe you only need to buy the att version of the straight talk sim. No need to unlock. Then you go on their web site and get the APN.

Thanks, so I am currently using the ATT SIM on Straight Talk. Just pop that in the new Note 2, and it will work right out of the box ?

It is not the sim from att. Its a straight talk sim made for att phones. You have to order them online. It uses att network and you would get everything except lte.
https://www.straighttalk.com/ShopSims is where you order the sim and there is more info on the service on the site.

On my international One X, I am using Straight Talk with the ATT SIM. In the Straight Talk package, there were three sims to choose from. T-Mobile, and two ATT, one regular size, and one micro/mini, which is what I am currently using.
So can I just take this mini ATT SIM from Straight Talk, and pop it in the ATT Note 2 from Best Buy, and it will work ? I don't need to have the phone unlocked ?
Thank you

Its already been answered and yes ITS BEEN A LONG time since ive even seen a UMTS on my phone. and also HSPA+ is still 3G.... Straight talk Uses Edge,3G, and 3.5G which is HSPA+
Also if the Note 2 only used LTE then people would not be buying it cause not all AT&T areas are LTE...
I am more than happy with 3.5G HSPA+, plenty fast for my phone needs, I just wasn't sure it was included in the Note 2, for some reason I thought was just standard 3G only and also LTE.
Most the time I am in a WiFi area anyways, at Home or Work Office, so LTE not a deal breaker for me.
Thank you

Most likely not. Different carriers run on different frequencies.

.... That sounds wrong... Maybe their postpaid is different. From what I understand not only are the frequencies different version must sign off on every phone on their network...
After some research I've seen both sides being positive they are right. One constant though is that Verizon must sign off on every phone in their network. Perhaps their post paid works differently.... Or maybe I'm wrong

I used to run a Sprint HTC Touch Pro on the Verizon network.
I ported it over, but that was years ago.
Both 1x voice and evdo/3g worked fine.
Was a bit trickier to get 3g then it was the 1x but lte certainly won't work on a Sprint on Verizon.
I certainly wouldn't go buy one from Sprint though planning on getting the ESN to get passed by their checks.
That's all I will say about that aspect.

just because a phone is global doesn't mean it will work on all networks. there are too many possible bands to acct for. You would need several radios, which would eat battery.
"Global" phones will work on the most popular bands.
As far as LTE, there is not a chip that has all the US bands.

I don't think that would work, as the hardware isn't there. However, I don't know why you think that we are screwed. T-Mobile isn't going to deploy LTE on a band that their phones don't support.

Easy tiger. I actually live in Cincinnati and did some reading up on it, and it does seem they are using a mix of band 2 and 4, and for whatever reason t-mobile decided not to have that band in their version of the One. Poor choice on their part, and a shame for us that have one. That said, I still don't think it's as simple as enabling it in software (though I wish it were).

I've gotten most of my information from howardforums, but the consensus there seemed to be that a lot of the city was, but that some of the outlying areas used band 4 as well. I live in NKY and go over to Eastgate regularly, and I would love some LTE, but I may just have to wait for the m9 for it to happen. That said, I don't know that LTE is even rolled out very wide so far, but I'm not sure.
Yes, this is an issue
Yes, this is an issue for those of us with a T-Mobile branded One M8. I have recently witnessed my M8 on Edge signals in Charlottesville, VA (where band 2 LTE is being rolled out) while my wife's OG Moto G LTE gets band 2 LTE. I'm trying to do the research to figure out hardware configurations of the phone, etc. There is a thread here with an M8 radio collection, but nobody seems to have posted yet that they have successfully enabled LTE band 2 on a T-Mobile or GPE One M8.
