I'm over clocked at 1.89ghz with about 29-30° C temperature. Clock varies from 384 mhz to max clock speed. What's a good temperature for it to be at with both general and gaming use? Last thing I want to do is overheat or something, but it doesn't seem to get hot at all.
Sent from my Nexus 7
The app I used gave false reading. Cpu temperature is in between 40-50° C. Idk what's too hot when it comes to these, but I know PCs get a lot hotter.
Sent from my Nexus 7
40-50 is pretty cool. I don't know how warm these newer devices usually run, but I used to see a lot higher temps than that on my single core Galaxy S. I believe the N7 has thermal throttling, if it gets to XX degrees it will scale back the CPU, and if it keeps heating up will shut down at a specific temperature to prevent damage.

Just found it in trickster, once it reached 80° it will throttle down, and I'm a whiles off of that. Thanks.

What temperatures are considered normal for the CPU?
I'm running Franco kernel and liquid smooth 1.3 with default settings on both.
Heavy use in ambient 20 degrees my CPU sits around 50. Low use I sit close to ambient.

It's normal.
My phone is overheating, it is overclocked to 1.809 ghz and is on Interactive CPU governor. I dropped my pillow on it last night and it went at least to 50 Celsius and had to let it cool. And now it's like 37 degrees by just sitting here...

I would lower the overclock to stock 1.5 and see if that improves it. I have had that issues when mine was OC to 2.1Ghz. Also make sure you don't have a ton of apps running in the backgroud.
What ROM are you using?

try to undervolt your steps using setcpu or any other app that allows you to do so. It worked with my girlfriend's Galaxy nexus
What temperature range should the battery be at?
Bump
My guess is around 30 degrees celsius.

Thank you but I meant temperature range. As in 20 degrees-40 degrees or whatever. You still get a "Thanks!" though.

Mine goes between 19 when in deep sleep for extended period up to almost 31 if playing games. Once you go over 38 I would say it is getting too warm.
To expand upon previous posts, your battery temp range depends on a number of factors such as ambient temp, charging or discharging, health of the battery, etc... Having said that, I have seen battery temp go from normal room temp to 65-70 degrees celsius. Needless to say it is a bit extreme. Best to keep it under 50.

my note 8 get very hot when i play modern combat 4 the temp about 71 degree (measured by system tuner ) and the battery temperture about 37 or more and the left side of the screen becomes very hot and the battery drain quickly is this will harm my device sorry for my bad english ??

This might be a question better answered by Samsung (unless it is a carrier model). Many questions though....
Does it get too hot to hold? Are you charging it while playing? Is your tablet oc/ov? What is the ambient temperature where playing?
Here is a previous thread with this same topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251830
Might scroll through the posts and maybe even post there about it as well. Sorry, can't help anymore than this.

But its not a problem. Your device will power down or turn down CPUs when you reach a certain temperature threshold. At least I know my phone does. I've never seen temperatures like that on any of my devices. The most I've ever seen even when over clocked to 2.1 GHz is in the 50s. Even then I'm not worried about it damage isn't done until the high 80s 90s. But how are you getting these temps. Are you outside in 90 degree heat gaming? I even have my GPU way over clocked and I never seen 70.

Yeah, only problem I had with this device and my Note 2. (same processor). These bad boys heat up. Especially if you do alot of flashing of roms.
Yea I ran my note 2 really hot playing dead trigger last night and overclocked 1.92 ghz plus 733 mhz gpu overclock but I still dont have heat readings of more than 56 celcius. And I have an app that monitors cpu temperature while im playing so I can see it in real time. Maybe your device is having a problem. Oh do you have a real thick case? That can cause heat buildup. If I leave , y case on my note 2 while playing a game it causes less heat dissipation and runs almost 10 degrees warmer. You might wanna consider that

Why will undervolting harm your CPU or battery? I can see stability issues with undervolting and have experienced them while experimenting with the settings. I cant see how it would harm the hardware though. As someone said above. The device should shut down if the processor gets too hot to protect itself. Also, undervolting should reduce the temperature.
The built in powersaving option in touchwiz will underclock your cpu to 1.1GHz. you can set it back to your standard setting with a push of a single button the menu.
I overclock and undervolt and have no worries about damage. I have had issues with my tablet turning itself off sometimes, but it has only happened on particularly hot days. I reduced my OC from 1.8 to 1.7Ghz. And i reduced my undervolt from -75 to -50 vs stock as I was having the occasional crash.
Are the CPU and GPU on the same processor or located in the same area of the tablet? I hear alot on hear about the CPU temp making the device extremely warm but wondered how the GPU acted. If you underclock the CPU, does this put more load on to the GPU when playing games or will the GPU load be the same regardless.

I need help, I got my glide two weeks ago, but my glide battery temperature is around 40 degree C or 102 degree F.
Do most of you fellow glide owners experience the same problem, and is there any way to fix this?
I am a bit concern about my phone's health.:crying::crying::crying:
Get CPU Z from the play store. Check the clock speed. If it's overs 1.2 ghz, it's too high, and needs to be lowered.

You shouldn't be afraid. Tegra is pretty good in temperature management. My O4X (Tegra 3) heats up to around 50-60 degrees Celsius if playing Angry Birds and even higher with a more resource-hungry game.
Actually, he should be afraid. He is talking about battery, not CPU or GPU, and that is to much. My Nexus 4 idle on 24C and on high load around 35, and Captivate Glide is nowhere near N4 specs to generate so much heat.

Wrong. New tech ≠ more heat. Under normal circumstances Tegra2/3 are much more of a heat generator than Snapdragon S4/Pros.
P.S. As I am browsing XDA now, I checked SetCPU and it says my CPU is 34 degrees celsius.
