Usually if you read the Op, there's info there that will tell you what firmware the ROM is base on.
You looking for touchwiz or Aosp ROM?

Yeah touchwiz roms but thats the thing the older builds are not on the xda site anymore

Any of the Darthstalker roms version 9 or older are all 4.2.2 MDL baseband roms.
If your current rom version is 4.3 and your baseband is MDL you need to Odin flash
the 4.3 radio/modem file (MK2) in order to fix your signal/data dropping issue and
you will be able to download and successfully flash 4.2.2 based roms if you like.
But if you have already #1: Odin flashed the official stock Samsung 4.3 Jellybean firmware
OR #2: Allowed the OTA 4.3 update or #3: Used KIES and updated your phone to 4.3 you will
not be able to use or flash any 4.2.2 based stock or custom roms.
If you have done any of those three things above you will not be able to downgrade to 4.2.2 roms.
But there are plenty of 4.3 really nice new custom roms you can chose from.

No I have not done either of those upgrades and yes there are some nice new 4.3 Roms but that's the problem I have with all the 4.3 roms the data drops so I just resulted back to my backup and I'm currently running the stock version T Mobile TouchWiz 4.2 .2 from my nandroid backUp but I really do want to use the newer 4.3 roms so you say all I would have to do is flash the modem file to take care of this problem with the data drops on those roms and also sense im on stock 4.2.2 mdl do I have to flash 4.3 rom b4 I flash the modem file

All the Darthstalker versions are in @jovy23 's Opening Posts.
You just have not look hard enough for them.
Here is the link where you can see all of the Darthstalkers
versions with download links for each one:

Good luck!

yes thanks i already had that link and saw the older builds but couldnt find out which ones were 4.2.2 and which ones were 4.3 unleiss i flashed them and also a question about the flash the modem u spoke about im a little confused u stated that............................ If your current rom version is 4.3 and your baseband is MDL you need to Odin flash
the 4.3 radio/modem file (MK2) in order to fix your signal/data dropping issue and my question is why would i need to flash the modem mk2 file if that was the problem with the data drops on the 4.3 roms i was running cause right now im on 4.2.2 mdl no problems everything working

Ok, if you are running 4.2.2 with MDL modem then you are OK, no data/signal drops.
If you WANT to use the new Samsung Galaxy S4 4.3 firmware/rom without catching the KNOX pox
then you need to flash a Galaxy S4 4.3 custom rom like Wicked or Darthstalker and the MK2 modem.
The problem with signal drop/data dropping is due to the fact that the 4.3 MK2 firmware/rom requires
the MK2 modem.bin (baseband) and the only way to get the MK2 modem/radio is to Odin flash it all by
itself without Odin flashing the entire stock offical 4.3 MK2 Jellybean firmware/rom (TAR file)..
Here is the step by step instructions of exactly how to do it:
These step by step instructions assumes you already have
flashed the Wicked 9.1 or Darthstalker X1 custom rom.
#1: Manually power down the phone using the power button.
#2: Start ODIN and put the MODEM.BIN file into ODIN'S PHONE slot.
#3: Put the phone into download mode using the volume down and power button.
#4: Plug the USB cable into the phone and into the computer.
#5: Make sure that ODIN'S [COM:xx] lights up.
#6: Un-Check the Auto-Reboot in ODIN and click START.
#7: After its done flashing unplug the usb cable.
#8: Manually power off the phone using the power button.
#9: Wait 20 or so seconds before you power on the phone.
After doing this the MK2 baseband should show up in About Device.
Here is the direct download link for the Tmobile 4.3 M919 MK2 modem.bin:

Good luck!

OK thanks for ur time all try that

[Q] 4.3 Stock for Odin?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to go back to a stock Touchwiz ROM from CyanogenMod 10.2. My only problem is, I can't Odin back to a stock from because the only Odin compatible file I have is 4.1.1 which my phone will no longer go to since my baseband was updated after trying a former 4.3 ROM.
Can anyone link me to a 4.3 ROM that I can flash in Odin? I'm asking because most of the ROM's I'm finding that are 4.3 require you to be on a TW ROM before flashing their ROM. Thanks.

This link is useless for me as it does not have a 4.3 stock rom listed in their official firmwares. They have only up to 4.1.2 which I cannot Odin back to since my baseband was already updated.

Do I have to be on a stock rom to use this? I'm currently on Quantum V3 and I don't have access to a stock rom to revert to since my baseband was updated.

No you don't have to be on the stock rom to use that, but the bootloaders are for 4.3 so if you haven't updated yet this will update you.
You can flash any rom you want to as long as you do not mess with the bootloader you will be OK. I do not know if this work on anything besides an at&t phone using it on anything else is done so at your own risk just the same as using it.
What about the recovery? any way to get a stock recovery image?

[Q] On M919UVUAMDB. What are my options?

Hi Guys. I got my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 in May of last year. I promptly (as soon as I got home) rooted it. It is on Baseband M919UVUAMDB and I am currently running a December 9 nightly of CM11 (4.4.1) because any newer versions cause an issue with sleep and Wifi. If my phone goes into deep sleep with WIFI on, my screen will completely freeze, requiring a battery pull.
Now I've tried multiple roms running TW based on 4.3 (Guessing they're based on the M919UVUEMK2 OTA), but they all drop data.
Now that M919UVUFNB4 is out, I was wondering what would happen if I flashed to that (waiting for a pre-rooted ROM)?
Will I have the same issues? I love CM, but TW is full of features I like to use and would like to swap back and forth if possible.
What are my options? I no longer have any backups of any stock roms (I do have a 4.2 TW ROM backed up that had NO issues. I believe it was deodexed as well, if that has to do with anything).

The data drops are because you have the MDB modem. If you want to run those 4.3 based ROMs, you need either the hybrid MK2 modem (reversible, knox-free) or the full MK2 modem (not currently reversible, installs knox). The same situation would exist with the MDL modem.
See this thread for instructions to install the hybrid modem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546024
I don't know, but I'd guess the situation will be similar with the new KitKat release. To run the new ROMs properly, you'll probably need the newest modem (either a hybrid or full). I'm fairly confident that you'll run into the same issues if you're on MDB, but again, this portion is speculation. MK2 might end up being sufficient, or NB4 might be required. I won't be surprised if a hybrid MDL/NB4 modem pops up soon.

I think so, but I'm not 100% sure. It looks like the same deal as the hybrid I've been using, and that I linked in my first response in this thread, just with the NB4 GSM modem and the MDL bootloader instead of the MK2 modem and MDL bootloader.
I never want to be among the first to flash new radios though. I hold off until I see a LOT of success stories and a lot of devs recommending them.

Yeah, it's also the reason I never flash OTAs, and am on such an ancient baseband. Thanks again!

Flashable (TWRP/CWM) 4.4 NE4 Modem

Does someone have a "flashable" zip for the new 4.4 NE4 modem?
Not a good idea at this point. Unless yours already on NE4 firmware it'll brick.
I'm updated to NE4 and want to flash back to a 4.3 rom. I was able to downgrade but unable to get any signal due to not having NE4.
I just need the NE4 to flash to get signal back but not the whole OTA.

So let me get this straight. This is for if a person:
Updated via OTA to 4.4.2
Installed TWRP/CWM 4.3 backup
No Wi-Fi after installing the 4.3 backup
This will simply get Wi-Fi working again after restoring a 4.3 backup, after on 4.4.2 OTA?
Thank you so much DocHoliday77! This works if you are on NE4 bootloader

No it most likely won't fix WiFi, this is only for if you flashed the 4.3 modem as instructed in many 4.3 Rom threads, after having updated to the 4.4.2 firmware.
I believe the wifi issues you are referring to are kernel related. If on a 4.3 rom, flash the MJ2 kernel to fix.
Yeah Wifi is kernel issue. I've had to use the Ktoonez 4.3 kernel if I'm running a 4.3 ROM after updating to the NE4 bootloader.

so I'm currently on 4.4 NE4 bootloader and on an AOSP rom(AOSPA), will I be able to flash 4.3 kernel to fix wifi? I remembered some roms mentioned that 4.4 aosp rom only accept 7/1/14 and up kernels.. but forgot which
The kernel will have to match the rom. So if you're on a 4.4 rom, you'll need the kernel to be the same. Also, aosp/cm kernels are not compatible with touchwiz and vice versa. The MJ2 kernel fix I mentioned previously is only for 4.3 touchwiz roms. Im not sure about what you'd need to do for aosp though.

Probably best to ask in the thread you got your rom in then. I dont use non touchwiz roms so im not well versed with them and their requirements.
Generally, you should use the kernel included or recommended with the rom for troubleshooting.

yeah i know that, but thing is when i flashed the TW 4.4.2 from my previous post, the problem already showed up, I couldn't turn on wifi at all.
which happened to me before in the past and when i flash an AOSP rom, it fixed, so that was what i did, but just that this time it didn't work
and what pain me is that going back to stock will reset everything again...

Yep. Once you update to NE4 then you have to use NE4 modem from then on because the NE4 bootloader will enforce that.
Post #4 on this thread by DocHoliday77 provides a flashable NE4 modem zip that you can flash though CWM or TWRP and get your signal back.
Even if you use a 4.3 rom once you have tried or updated to NE4 bootloader, always flash NE4 modem.

I understand that this is an old thread, but I have recently pulled out my old S3 and see I am on FW Ver. I747UCUEMJB. I have seen the new lollipop roms for the S3 and they suggest flashing the NE4 modem/bootloader. Is this now safe to do? If not how would I go about upgrading my bootloader/modem?
Stupid question here but ... I'm already on NE4 but I Got the phone from a stranger. It works 100% but I don't know if anything was dine and put back or antrhiing. Its absolutely on NE 4. Can I reflash this in Odin without additional risk of bricking the device? I put lollipop on it and would miss it terribly

LTE Problems

Hey guys
I installed a nightly of CM11 a while ago and it broke my LTE. The consensus is that you need to install a stock-based ROM, then flash back to CM11 to get LTE working again.
I have flashed an MK5 modem, but am unsure of my bootloader compatibility with the current TouchWiz ROM's out there.
I am on the MF1 bootloader (Canadian phone). Do I need to upgrade/downgrade my bootloader to install any of these TW ROM's? Or can I just flash between TW and CM11 to my heart's consent?
The ROM's say you must be running a 4.3 modem and bootloader...but I can't find any info on whether or not MF1 is a 4.3 bootloader or not?
Thanks,
Elliott
Bump
I haven't tried cm11 yet but using c-rom I had these problems. under settings-mobile networks-preferred network type, check to see the right network is selected. If you don't have these options then my apologies.

Well usually you need the same modem as your bootloaders. Some of them are really picky so having the MK5 might be why your LTE isn't working.
You can grab the stock ROM in the general stickies and flash it with Odin though (make sure to backup) if flashing a 4.1.2 modem doesn't fix it.

Only the downgrade is dangerous, you can upgrade without any problem. That being said, you could just flash the stock 4.1.2.
And if I flash a stock based ROM will it upgrade my bootloader to one I won't be able to downgrade from?
Any suggestions for ROM's?

galaxy s3 L710 freezes when I move app icons around or try to move to delete
Hey everyone,
So I got a Galaxy s3 L710
I was on stock 4.4.4.2 rom and I had problems with freezing when I tried to move app icons to the main screen or delete them. I figured if I used a custom rom it wiould fix the problem.
So I had the latest liquid smooth 3.2 rom put on with the latest google apps. I think it is liquid smooth 3.2 build date 10-9-2014 with the 4.4.4.4 google apps
I am still having the same problem moving icons around or trying to delete them?
Does anyone know what the problem is? I have to hit the power button to unfreeze the phone every time I try to move app icons around!
Not sure what "4.4.4.2" is, but i would go back to complete stock before trying to fix the provlem with a custom rom.
I would flash the nd8 stock tar through Odin and see if that works. Verify ur download's md5 before flashing...

the 4.4.4.2 or maybe it was 4.4.2.2 was the android kitkat version on the phone info page
When I got my htc evo 3d the stock rom wouldn't connect to my bluetooth right but after I put a custom rom negraliteblurom on and then it worked perfect. That's why I just tried a custom rom on the L710 g3.
