Does someone have a "flashable" zip for the new 4.4 NE4 modem?
Not a good idea at this point. Unless yours already on NE4 firmware it'll brick.
I'm updated to NE4 and want to flash back to a 4.3 rom. I was able to downgrade but unable to get any signal due to not having NE4.
I just need the NE4 to flash to get signal back but not the whole OTA.

So let me get this straight. This is for if a person:
Updated via OTA to 4.4.2
Installed TWRP/CWM 4.3 backup
No Wi-Fi after installing the 4.3 backup
This will simply get Wi-Fi working again after restoring a 4.3 backup, after on 4.4.2 OTA?
Thank you so much DocHoliday77! This works if you are on NE4 bootloader

No it most likely won't fix WiFi, this is only for if you flashed the 4.3 modem as instructed in many 4.3 Rom threads, after having updated to the 4.4.2 firmware.
I believe the wifi issues you are referring to are kernel related. If on a 4.3 rom, flash the MJ2 kernel to fix.
Yeah Wifi is kernel issue. I've had to use the Ktoonez 4.3 kernel if I'm running a 4.3 ROM after updating to the NE4 bootloader.

so I'm currently on 4.4 NE4 bootloader and on an AOSP rom(AOSPA), will I be able to flash 4.3 kernel to fix wifi? I remembered some roms mentioned that 4.4 aosp rom only accept 7/1/14 and up kernels.. but forgot which
The kernel will have to match the rom. So if you're on a 4.4 rom, you'll need the kernel to be the same. Also, aosp/cm kernels are not compatible with touchwiz and vice versa. The MJ2 kernel fix I mentioned previously is only for 4.3 touchwiz roms. Im not sure about what you'd need to do for aosp though.

i've pretty much tried all the 4.4.x kernels and none of them seem to work :3
Probably best to ask in the thread you got your rom in then. I dont use non touchwiz roms so im not well versed with them and their requirements.
Generally, you should use the kernel included or recommended with the rom for troubleshooting.

yeah i know that, but thing is when i flashed the TW 4.4.2 from my previous post, the problem already showed up, I couldn't turn on wifi at all.
which happened to me before in the past and when i flash an AOSP rom, it fixed, so that was what i did, but just that this time it didn't work
and what pain me is that going back to stock will reset everything again...

Yep. Once you update to NE4 then you have to use NE4 modem from then on because the NE4 bootloader will enforce that.
Post #4 on this thread by DocHoliday77 provides a flashable NE4 modem zip that you can flash though CWM or TWRP and get your signal back.
Even if you use a 4.3 rom once you have tried or updated to NE4 bootloader, always flash NE4 modem.

I understand that this is an old thread, but I have recently pulled out my old S3 and see I am on FW Ver. I747UCUEMJB. I have seen the new lollipop roms for the S3 and they suggest flashing the NE4 modem/bootloader. Is this now safe to do? If not how would I go about upgrading my bootloader/modem?
Stupid question here but ... I'm already on NE4 but I Got the phone from a stranger. It works 100% but I don't know if anything was dine and put back or antrhiing. Its absolutely on NE 4. Can I reflash this in Odin without additional risk of bricking the device? I put lollipop on it and would miss it terribly

Hello, I was originally running a beta version of Panandroid 3.99, and then I flashed a Stock modified Tmobile Rom on 4.3. I wanted to see if I could get wifi calling to work on it and it did, then I wanted go back to Quantum Rom.
For some reason I could not get Quantum Rom to flash, TWRP would read a "unable to .zip or something like that. Then I read I should update my Bootloader and Modem. So I restored an old backup to Cyanogen mod 10.1.2 (4.2.2 Update). I was able to flash my modem to the MJB update, but whenever I tried to flash my bootloader to the MJB update, TWRP and CMW would both give me Status 6 errors.
I am currently on the LK3 modem as stated by my Terminal Emulator.
Any suggestions on what I should do?
I'm also confused on how I was able to flash Panandroid 3.99(4.4.2 KitKat) on the LK3 modem? Should I have needed the MJB modem in the first place?
The bootloader and device ID is normally what determines if a rom can be flashed to a phone, not the modem.
Visit the S3Rx post and scroll down to the download area and you will see the modem and bootloader flashable zips. I would go with the MJ2 bootloader /MJB modem combo to allow you to go backwards in bootloader if needed.
You may need to update TWRP to the latest, I understand that 4.4 roms require the latest.

I think you meant the MG2 bootloader, which did install fine. After that, I was able to flash Quantum and GAPPS.

Glad that fixed the issue. :good:
Actually, I meant MJ2. Interesting enough I now see is not on the boot loader list thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321310) and appears to only be found on the custom 4.3 TW roms sites (which references to the S3RX rom thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252932).
LK3 - 4.1.1
MG2 - 4.1.2 (OTA)
MJ2 - Leaked 4.3
MJB - Official 4.3 (OTA)(make sure you read the warnings if you go to this boot loader - there is no going backwards)
So unless you need to go to a 4.3 boot loader, which it sounds like you do not, I would stay where you are.
Hey guys
I installed a nightly of CM11 a while ago and it broke my LTE. The consensus is that you need to install a stock-based ROM, then flash back to CM11 to get LTE working again.
I have flashed an MK5 modem, but am unsure of my bootloader compatibility with the current TouchWiz ROM's out there.
I am on the MF1 bootloader (Canadian phone). Do I need to upgrade/downgrade my bootloader to install any of these TW ROM's? Or can I just flash between TW and CM11 to my heart's consent?
The ROM's say you must be running a 4.3 modem and bootloader...but I can't find any info on whether or not MF1 is a 4.3 bootloader or not?
Thanks,
Elliott
Bump
I haven't tried cm11 yet but using c-rom I had these problems. under settings-mobile networks-preferred network type, check to see the right network is selected. If you don't have these options then my apologies.

MF1 is 4.1.2. The latest Canadian bootloader is MK5 (Which you can't downgrade from).

Well usually you need the same modem as your bootloaders. Some of them are really picky so having the MK5 might be why your LTE isn't working.
You can grab the stock ROM in the general stickies and flash it with Odin though (make sure to backup) if flashing a 4.1.2 modem doesn't fix it.

Okay. What I'm most concerned about is flashing a 4.3 TW ROM with the bootloader that I have. Is having a bootloader from 4.1.2 a bad thing? Or can I install all ROM's with MF1?

Only the downgrade is dangerous, you can upgrade without any problem. That being said, you could just flash the stock 4.1.2.
And if I flash a stock based ROM will it upgrade my bootloader to one I won't be able to downgrade from?
Any suggestions for ROM's?

It depends which one you decide to flash. You can flash stock 4.1.2 just like you could flash 4.3 (which you can't downgrade from).
I was wondering if I may run into any problems by doing this.
I know that on an AT&T phone (i747), if you do that, you may lose your modem and needs to be reflashed (you get a null IMEI)
Is it the same on a SGH-T999? I was planning to flash this ROM:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=26636
Thanks
There is no 4.4.2 to downgrade from for the T999.
If you just have a 4.4.2 Rom, you don't need to do anything.
The firmware you linked is the latest available so you can flash it regardless of what you have now.
There is no 4.4.2 update for the T999 so yes you can flash it but it is not a ROM, it is firmware, please do not confuse these two they are very different!
Yeah... I'm afraid I am confused. What I did was to flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690947
Isn't that a ROM?
However I would like to go back to 4.3, so I was just wondering if I could have any problems.
Sorry for the noob questions. I think it was clear to me, but I'm afraid it's not...
Thanks
Yes that is a rom, what you linked to in the first post is firmware which contains more than just the system and that is where you run into problems when downgrading

Yes, flash the link you provided in the first post or flash a 4.3 rom.. Understand this, flashing a rom will not determine if you can downgrade or not, flashing firmware will. Since there is no 4.4 firmware for the T999 you can still flash the 4.3 firmware. If there was a 4.4 firmware and you took the OTA or updated via Odin then the only thing you could do is flash a 4.3 rom, firmware will not be an option
Edit: oh and btw I accidently pressed the thanks button so you got a free one

Hi.
I'm really out of the loop for flashing to the latest rom. I'm still on 4.3 Darthstalker Version X1. I want to upgrade to the latest 4.4.4. I've try flashing a few roms but I couldn't get the wifi to turn on so I want to know what I'm doing wrong.
I've flashed the NH7 modem.bin from Shinnyside's thread. I didn't flash the non-HLOS file because after flashing just the modem.bin file I can see the NH4 modem is sticking and everything still work on 4.3. I then flashed a few different rom but I couldn't get the wifi to turn on. Is it that I'm getting this problem is because I didn't flash the non-HLOS modem? If I flash the non-NLOS file, will it solve the wifi problem I'm having?
I also read some post that I need to update to the NH7 bootloader (i'm still on the mk2 bootloader) for some 4.4.4 feature to work. How do I do that?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Either try a different kernel or update to NH7 firmware, then flash ROM

I believe CM11 will work fine with 4.3 firmware and modems. I would suggest using the MJ2 firmware and MJB modem, at least until you have decided you need even newer than them. An advantage to MJ2 is that it can be downgraded if you ever have need for that. A link to it can be found in the OP of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252932. Another advantage is that it was released prior to the release of KNOX. Not only will this firmware/baseband combo will run CM11, it will run TW based 4.3 roms and many TW based 4.4.2 roms.
If you are wanting to get to the latest firmware and baseband, do not use the MJ2 firmware. Many people would recommend you upgrading sequentially through MJB, NE4, and to NJ1. Links to the MJB firmware can be found in the same post as the MJ2 I linked. Enewman17 has a thread regarding upgrading to NE4 firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/ucuemjb-to-ucufne4-firmware-update-t2808654
If you have an interest in unlocking your phone from your carrier, do it prior to upgrading to MJB and beyond. Once reaching MJB it can only be unlocked by your carrier or by using a paid service.

Yes, I would recommend incremental updating: MG2 > MJB > NE4; as shown in the second thread I linked.
I am only on the 4.3 leaked firmware and official 4.3 baseband, I have not updated to NE4 at this point. But, I was on the 4.1.2 stock rom when I updated to the MJ2/MJB firmware-modem combination. I went back into that rom with no factory reset and no wipes. After a couple of days with no issues I flashed a custom 4.3 rom. I did do the recommended reset and wipes in the flashing process, that was due to the rom, not the firmware and baseband. Also, the link does not suggest resetting or wiping in the upgrade of firmware and modem. If you have any issues after flashing, then I would suggest the factory reset and wipes with possibly even a reflash of your rom.

i personally have never flashed one of the cm12 unofficial builds. i suggest you read thru the threads and see if people are having issues or not and then decide. i would also definitely make a backup of current setup if did decide to try.
if you did a full wipe between unofficial and official , i would imagine to be most sure way to avoid errors.
imho there is ALWAYS a risk in flashing/rooting/modding,etc.
good luck with whatever you decide.
