How to change lock screen on 4.3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm on a custom 4.3 room with root.
Any real easy way to change lock screen?

what are you trying to change? the entire lock screen?

Mainly, I would like like to change the lock screen image.
Not sure why it seems like you have to flash a custom rom or get an app from the store to do this.

Downgrade>Root>OTA>Still Root?

So I love my new Galaxy Nexus but want to remove the search bar and get to improve 4 x 5 icons on homescreen. One problem though, I don't want to unlock the bootloader!
I know you can re-lock it later but I just don't want to unlock it full stop, I know I'm being difficult!
Here is my idea on how to do this, do you think it will work?:
Downgrade to 4.0.2 stock factory image
Use the root without unlocking bootloader exploit
Use OTA Rootkeeper
Use OTA update service to upgrade to 4.0.4 and retain root & locked bootloader
Install CWM
Install home screen fix (to remove search bar and get 4 x 5 icons)
Do you think that will work!!?
Uh, why don't you just download a launcher that lets you do 4x5 icons?
and btw your plan fails at #1. You'd have to unlock to flash the 4.0.2 images.
If you really want to root then why don't you unlock the bootloader and do it? Sure it wipes but there are plenty of ways to back up before doing so...

Because I want the modified stock launcher, I don't want to use another launcher.

I would temporarily unlock and re-lock bootloader after flashing (as per instructions here)

Because I don't want that bloody padlock symbol on boot, I told you I'm difficult!

Here's a even better plan.
1) Unlock bootloader
2) flash 4.0.4, root, install cwm
3)lock bootloader.

All those instructions do is tell you how to flash the images and re-lock the bootloader assuming you've already unlocked it previously.

That's not being difficult that's just being straight up stupid for no reason. Why do you even care? It makes absolutely no sense. I reboot my phone like once a month at most, who cares if for 3 seconds there's a padlock icon at the bottom of the screen? I've heard a lot of the usual reasons for not unlocking the bootloader (like it wipes the device), but this is just irrational.
Just unlock the bootloader, flash what you want, and relock the bootloader. Seriously ridiculous. Jesus Christ people....

In your opinion, no need to be disrespectful and call it stupid and irrational; that's a pretty harsh opinion. Fact is, I don't want the padlock symbol, that's the way it is. If you're not going to be helpful, don't bother responding. I wouldn't have posted the question if I was going to get responses like that.

Lmao, no.
You can even re-lock while running a custom rom...
Unlock.
Root.
Relock.

As far as you are rooted and install cwm its cool to have the locked bootloader so you can flash roms and backup your data with tibu..
Only thing its for whatever reason you have to unlock the bootloader it Will wipe your sd

[Q] Can you root without doing the CWM recovery?

All I want to be able to do is install and use Titanium Backup. Can this be done without the whole bootloader unlock / install CWM recovery / Flash SU method?
This is for a GSM GN from the Google Play store.
No. Not that know of exploits like that don't work anymore. But you can just unlock, flash a recovery, flash superuser. Then flash the stock recovery and relock the boot loader.

the only way you can do that is if you're on 4.0.2, but i would bet you are on 4.0.4

Wouldn't recommend relocking the bootloader. He'll just have to wipe again next time he needs to unlock.

I would NOT recommend it either.
However, if he feels like he really has to re-lock, we now have a method that can unlock the bootloader without wiping, assuming you have root of course. (But if you ever lose root... you are screwed!
EDIT: I didn't realize that the OP had a Play Store device. Although I don't have one, the Play Store devices are said to NOT wipe when the bootloader is unlocked.

Thanks for the info. And just an FYI, my Play Store device does wipe data when I unlock the bootloader. Not a huge deal, but it does reset it to factory state.

some people have said it didnt wipe when they unlocked the bootloader when they got theirs from the playstore.
i always assume its going to wipe everything.
I had no idea that unlocking the bootloader would wipe everything, but I knew I had to unlock it first in order to root it so I could backup all my apps with Titanium Backup, so guess what happened..
The thing is, if I hadn't done that, I would have waited for the official Jelly Bean from Samsung for quite a while, for my yakjuxw variant...
Pfff. Everything about this whole affair with ROMs, rooting, backing up, seems so weird and counter-intuitive to me. I just don't understand it!

I just dont like seeing the opened lock icon below the google logo when the phone boots up, But i just want root, and the stock recovery for future ota
So Rooting it and re-locking the bootloader doesn't limit the root functionality right?
and is there a possibility of having root + CWM + Locked bootloader ?
will CWM work that way ?
Plus whats the procedure to unlock bootloader without wiping device if your device has root + locked bootloader?

Use segv11's app. It is linked in the "Unlock bootldr w/o wipe" link in my signature.

Man, I just don't get how that is that big of a deal.. I think the unlock logo at the bottom is actually cool. My friend said one of his friends didn't want to root his Nexus 7 because he didn't like the unlock symbol on the boot up screen too... I was soo confused. How can it bother you that much?

No issue for me personally. I change the splash logo on all my oem devices with my personnel symbol. Kids device their name in place of the Google.

Well my previous phone was an android which was never updated officially after eclair. Running Cm7 ports kinda lagged the phone which was pretty noticeable after 24 hours or so,
So i used to reboot it everyday to clear memory. and yeah, I guess old habits die hard and i just love the jellybean boot up animation, so no reason not to reboot it, and thanks a lot for your replies

Yeah, i felt it was cool too for the first 3 months of having the Gnex but recently, Every friends non-google device i see (specifically the s2 or the s3) has the triangle on the splash screen, When they see my phone start up without the unlock symbol, they're all like "whoa dude, you still haven't modded your phone?"
then i'll go like "Nah, Why should i do that when i have the purest android ever and there's no need to mod this fast beast"
Long story cut short, i just wanna show off how awesome pure android is
No

[Q] How to change the bootloader image?

I've replaced the screen on my Galaxy Nexus and unfortunately the screen orientation for the bootloader image is upside down (Where it says Google and the unlocked / locked padlock)
When the phone loads into the Android OS the orientation is absolutely fine, even in the recovery too!
I would like to sell this phone and seeing the bootloader image upside down can be a real concern to some people (even though it doesn't effect the functionality in any way)
I can remember with a few previous phones, I would flash a rom and sometimes the bootloader image would of been changed by the chef.
Does anybody know how to change this image? I would simply like to "flip it".
Thanks in advance.

Follow-up question - think there'll be an easy way to root the compact any time soon? ie via an app/usb automatic process (well the only part I want to avoid to erasing/restoring my phone tbh)

It's anyone's guess tbh, which is why it's best to unlock your BL if you can then it is simple as you just need to flash a zip.

Because is just disabled. BTW I like when NFC is on to have the icon up, so I just edited via build.prop the line ro.nfc.icon.enable=false to ro.nfc.icon.enable=true
..and this is not possible on not Rooted devices.

[Q] Cannot solve this

Hello guys,
Bought a htc one m8 from a "friend". It came already with Team Win Recovery Project, so it means that someone installed it.
"Inside" the phone, the icons on the app screen are smaller than in the common HTC's (grid is 4x5), which i believe it is a failed custom ROM that someone installed (am i right??)
When i press POWER+VOLUME it enters in that "crazy" menu and, on top, it says S-ON.
How can i wipe all of this (including this TWRP) and restore all default factory settings, so my HTC app menu looks like everybody else's?
Although, i want it to stay unlocked as it is.
I do not intend to root it for now, or install any custom rom (for now).
Sorry about my English,
Thanks in advance,
Cheers
André
I think you should be able to follow this to go back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235
Although as you are still S-On, you won't be able to remove the tampered banner or re-lock your bootloader though.
Everything else will be stock though.

Its probably just a custom ROM that has the option for smaller icons and/or smaller icon grid in the app drawer.

Is there a way to change that so app screen or screens are as in original version?
Thanks a lot for your answers
