Did you flashed the MIUI kernel?
no
where can i find that?
Is the "boot.img" inside the MIUI.zip
(only if you have unlocked bootloader)
or you can go back to stock rom using sony update service
There are no boot.img inside the MIUI.zip,

Lol! We Have 2 Use Stock Kernel With CWM. SInce its BAsed on FW.587..
Guys i need some advice with rooting my friend's Arc s. Here s what i did
Phone was on official ICS. I unlocked the bootloader using the official method.
Then i rooted it using some one click root method
Then installed recovery using recoverx software
Booted to recovery, wipe data, format system
Then tried to install a rom called racing bean. But i got and status 7 error. I tried some other JB rom.
But got the same error
Then i switched off and tried get to recovey. but could not
So i relocked the bootloader and installed official ICS again to boot the phone. The phone is fine now.
so can anybody help me to properly do this?? I just want to install CM on this phone
Racing bean or any other jb rom needs a JB Kernel too!.the ics kernel and jb rom mismatch might give that error.First flash a jb kernel and then it should work fine. This one's what i use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885559.
First, you forgot kernel. Second make a backup with cwm before any wipe.

I flashed lupus kernel but after that i could not get into recovey. How can i do that?? I had the same problem with Arc fusion kernel
Well, there shouldnt be any problem, vol down or up button while the device lights up(led glows) does the job.But maybe u can try flashing it agn..if still having an issue..use an app like rom toolbox or boot manager to reboot into recovery..btw srry for the late reply
I gave up the effort. I tried about 6 Roms and kernels. Even ICS kernels with ICS roms. But After flashing the rom the phone does not go pass the kernel boot screen. I had to relock the bootloader and flash the stock Rom again. I have flashed hundreds of roms on so many devices. But never faced this kind of situation

Not sure why you would have installed RecoverX if you have an unlocked bootloader as all you need to do is flash a kernel that includes CWM.

Ya right i did flash the kernel via fastboot. Then booted into CWM and flashed the rom. But when i reboot it gets stuck at kernel screen
This happened to me and all I did was leave the phone like 10 mins booting, then it magically worked. I'm using Arc fusion 4.3 with racing bean, no problems. Try this, flash lupus kernel, wipe everything, go on fastboot and flash fusion, try to go on cwm and if it works, try to install racingbean again. At least that's one of the things I did.

Hey guys!
My Xperia Arc S is kinda new - 1 month old.
I was on Xperia Ultimade HD Rom for a while and wanted to install another rom, so i did via CWM Recovery.
All fine.
I wanted to restart my phone but it got stock in Sony Logo.
Because my bootloader cant be unlocked i rooted with kernel downgrade and CWM is not there after flashing due to the wipe.
So i flashed stock .tft with Flashtool and phone booted again.
Now when I'm trying to flash anything my phone gets always stuck in Sony Logo (even when i try Eagleboy's mode without wiping!).
Anyway: I'd like to install a custom rom.
Does anyone how to fix this?
Bootloader: Locked
Phone: LT18i
Rooted: yes
... and I have the 4.0.1.B.0.587 firmware installed right now.
Thanks in advance!
Phone Flashing problem
That's the only problem with locked bootloader's:crying:When you install some stock custom roms you have to wipe system to do a clean install which by default wipes cwm because it is installed in system for locked bootloader's.So if you have a problem with a install you have to flash another .ftf because you wiped cwm recovery.
When I first had arc I had a locked bootloader and it was a pain if something went wrong while flashinghaving to flash again etc! etc! It just got to stage where I had enough and took the plunge and unlocked the bootloader.:good:
I'm afraid it's one of those things you have to live with unless you unlock your bootloader:crying: ( I know you said you can't )there are quite a few stock roms that work but like I said if anything goes wrong you have to flash .ftf again.Probably a case of just trying each one Jader's rom alway's seemed to boot nice:good:

Hi, thanks for your answer
I tried to install 3 different roms till now - i wiped everything.
Then: Boot till sony-logo - I have to flash another tft with flashtool, Root again, and this takes time and is quite annoying.
I came from Samsung Galaxy S there wasn't the problem with the "bootloader" which is really annoying.
So: What should i do now?
I mean my CWM is not persistent and till now no rom worked.

Hi totally agree it is frustrating!:crying: When you install some of these custom rom's they use Aroma installer are you unticking the reboot option in aroma installer and rebooting from cwm?Because you need to reboot that way (you seem to be doing everything right )
(1) Boot to cwm
(2) Wipe cache/Data/Advanced Dalvik cache
(3) Mounts & Storage format data/cache/system (NOTHING ELSE!)
(4) Install .zip on Sd card
(5) Choose options Aroma Installer
(6) Untick reboot option
(7) Reboot from cwm

Only other thing you could try is changing your base firmware/ftf I notice you are using .587 base ftf try changing to another one, although Some of the custom roms recommend that firmware
Maybe someone else as any ideas
Απ: Flashing problem
If you accidentally formatted system then you removed the cwm. Try flashing the official ftf, install x-parts and redo everything without wiping system partition.
The other choice is to unlock your bootloader and you'll never face this problem again. I voided my warranty less a month after taking my phone, I knew that any problem will come up I could fix it myself

Yep sure - but my CWM is gone when i wipe data. And I tried this: I flashed stock .ftf and installed xparts, then flashed a ROM without wipe - but doesn't boot and I cant access CWM again :/
And as I said i can't unlock my bootloader.
.. But the strange thing is just:
I even get bootloop when I install EAGLEBOYYS MOD (!) without WIPING anything! (just the recommended for sure)
That should not happen.
Why can't you unlock bootloader? Doing that would solve most of the problems you are facing. You don't have to downgrade to re root. Flash the stock kernel, install a new recovery then try again.

If I go in service menu it says: Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No !
If I flash stock .ftf root is gone (?) -- RootChecker says that root is gone too.

First of all - this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
I advice you to take step by step STRICTLY.
Or you can try to root with the FlashTool but I'm not sure if it will work with locked BL.

Thats how i rooted my Arc S!
Thats the only method that is working with locked BL.
And well, i took all the steps mentioned in the second topic you posted..
If you can't get it to work (stuck on Sony logo), then flash this in flash tool and then root again and do it one more time.
It´s ICS and kernel for Arc S but works fine on regular Arc. I use it myself on my Arc.

Is that ROM for locked BL ?
Hi,
I have tried everything I've read so far and I still can't get the phone to boot into recovery.
I flashed the latest Stock ROM using Sony Ericsson 'Emma' flashtool.
Then I rooted using eroot and I have confirmed the root with the app Root Checker.
I installed ROM Manager but it says my device isn't recognised.
Also installed X-Parts and even though that said ClockWorkMod install was successful it still won't boot into recovery.
I have tried holding down various combination of keys whilst powering up but I don't even see a blue light appearing.
Is there any way to get CWM onto my Xperia Arc (LT15i) please?
Thanks for any advice

The kernel will depend on your ROM, so if you're using stock ROM you can flash a stock kernel with CWM on it. LuPuS stock kernel and Advanced stock kernel are two examples of stock kernel that have CWM.
Most custom ROM kernel should have CWM installed. Custom ROM will also come with its kernel so flash that and you should have CWM on your phone.

Hi popthosegaskets, thanks very much for helping me. I was wondering if you could tell me where I'm going wrong trying to install a CM Rom please. I've tried both CM 9 and CM 10 but the former caused the boot screen to flicker and flash and when I tried to install CM 10 I just got an error in CMW saying error in sdcard/cm10.zip (status 7).
The problem stems from me experimenting and putting on the Jellybeanv4 Rom. I found that the Settings button didn't function and overal performance was slow so that is why I'm trying to flash back to a Stable CM Rom.
These are the instructions I followed using flashtool.
1. Download rom, patch and gapps from Downloads and put in SD card
2. Flash Xperia Arc S 4.1.B.1.13 Vodafone DE firmware via flashtool (For increasing system and data memory for Arc user and latest BB) Must
3. Flash included FXP kernel or any CM10 based kernel using fastboot
4. Boot into CWM
5. Wipe factory reset (Data & Cache)
6. Go mounts and storage
7. Format /system
8. Flash rom then patch and at last gapps
9. Reboot
10. After booting 1 time you can flash addons if you want
Is it a problem with a conflict with the Vodafone DE Firmware and CM Rom?
Thanks again for your help and advice

Hello,
my friend's xperia arc is stuck on sony logo and can't seem to get it to boot to cwm. Can boot it to fastboot mode and the computer regonizes it.
It got stuck like this after I had rooted the phone, installed cwm, and then unlocked the bootloader. After that I booted to cwm, wiped and tried to flash cm9 rom but it failed. Then I just decided to reboot cwm, but now I can't get there anymore. I have full nandroid backup from stock rom.
So is there something I could try here?
Edit:
Okay I got to boot a cwm after I used fastboot to flash LuPuS-ARC-CM9.img http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878728
So it seems that the recovery is wrong for the device and that's why it won't flash cm9. It "says": assert failed getprop( ro.product.device )
Now I'm restoring the stock rom back from the nandroid backup.
Try flashing the Kernel which is there in cm9 rom zip...boot to recovery... Then install rom...

Don't wipe /system. Causes error on installing CM and thereby CM is not installed and phone has no OS to boot up.
Also, Xperia Arc phones may require flashing Arc S ICS firmware first to correct the partitions.

Any chance that you could give link to the right kernels? There are so many for this device.
Or are these the right steps that I need to do?
Step-2) Download & Flash Xperia Arc-S 4.0.4_587 ftf pack, just exclude two things
1. simlock.ta
2. Kernel.sin
http://d-h.st/cyw
After flash power up your phone and let it start completely, now copy rom zip into SD card , and Power off your phone
It will give you 440-MB internal memory and 419-MB System Rom memory
If you already have 419-MB System memory then you can skip this step
3) Download and flash Baseband From Post no 2 as per your device
http://www.mediafire.com/?k4oo21646u9i39m
[KERNEL]ARC/S-Advanced stock-4.1.B.0.587-[ROOT+INIT.D+CWM+SD-EXT] FW-4.1.B.0.587

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1273583&d=1345565020
4) Go into recovery and wipe these things
4.1- wipe factory data
4.2- wipe cache partition
4.3- wipe dalvik cache
4.4- Wipe System ( you can find it in mount & storage option in recovery)
5) Now flash The Main rom after flash Tick unknown source
rom: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/7072/cm-9.1.0-anzu.zip
