someone help mee..!! i am using CyanKat now, but i want to know how to get back on past..
Do you have recovery loaded? If you just download the ROM you want on to your SDcard. Then reboot to recovery and install from SDcard. Find your ROM and install.
I recommend SlimBean. It is a great Rom.
Why do you want to go to stock when there are many better choices.

is it HTC Vision's Stock ROM? look, i need to run chainfire3D, and its only run on Stock ROMS, not on Custom ROMS..
it is custom rom based on stock. not many changes. give a try
If you're looking for absolute stock, with no add ons or anything, this is my suggestion http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169004 You won't have your data unless you backed it up with like a third party app (my app of choice for that is MyBackup Root for apps & settings and such, SMS Backup and Restore for messages)

I've had this problem before, it normally happens to me when installing an older rom after a newer one, due to the way partitions are formatted. Flash this via CWM, then reflash the rom: SuperWipeG2 If that doesn't work, just let me know and I'll try and help

I have the same issue and your suggestion didn't help.
Tried several times, both deodexed version and the original, but neither worked. Tried flashing the SuperWipeG2+ext4 before installing stock, after installing stock (flashing stock, SuperWipe, stock again) on both normal and deodexed versions. Still the phone loads up the HTC logo+vibrate, takes a few seconds, makes a small vibration again and nothing happens.
All other custom ROM's that I've tried work. I've tried CyanKat, CM11, CM7.2, Vision G-lite 2.0.0.
I'm trying to go back to stock, because all custom ROM's have a huge battery drainage issue that I am unable to resolve (but lets keep that to another thread). The stock ROM did not have the issue.
Stock ROM is no formatted to ext4, but besides this are you trying to go back to stock but keep custom recovery and secure flags off or completely return to stock as the method to do so will differ
Either way you should find what you need here

I was running an ICS rom.
I downloaded this rom to the sd card. Wiped data, cache, and dalvik.
Installed the zip and loaded up the phone.
I've lost all data/signal/connection.
I even tried returning the phone to stock, but still no luck.
Any suggestions? Please help. Otherwise I have to return my phone to the store tomorrow.
Thanks so much.
Downloaded which Rom? When you tried returning to stock was it with an ruu, or with a nand backup?

How did you go back to stock? Just by flashing another ROM through recovery?
If so then try the complete return to stock with the file that CondemnedSoul posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599767
I just went through the same issue with the new 710d ROM and this got me up and running again.
You will have to use fastboot and then you will need to install another reocvery and reroot.

Thanks for the help all. sk842018 recommended trying *228 which restored data.
Thanks again. XDA saves the day as always!
Can't title it any better. I was running Mj's BLEND ICS, and have been having problems with reboots, etc. So I saw a new version out and wanted to try that. I rebooted and noticed CWM was gone, and it looked like a stock recovery.
So I was reading up a bit and moved over the new version to the SD, then while under that recovery, I made a HUGE mistake and hit the power (forgetting that's [enter]) and whatever it was on it formatted data/system and cache so the phone is now dead (luckily not bricked).
On boot it sits at the Samsung title but that's it. I DO have access to both recovery (which is NOT cwm) but also have access to ODIN (huge + IMO).
So, I had the following;
BaseBand: 57 : 10.10 5.FD19
Kernel: 3.0.15-SPH=D710.FD26-XL467198
So naturally my question is what to do next? Back in my evo day's I ran CW7 and was very happy, I see C9 is out but the docs I saw said coming from GB, where I HAD ICS).
So the million dollar question, how do I proceed? Since I have access to ODIN, I would like to either;
a) restore a brand new stock rooted ICS for the g2 (note I am on sprint)
b) move back to either blend, or even more like to try c9.
Thanks as always to the group for all read/replies, out of all my posts/fun, this was my first facepalm!
Try miui I here it has wimax

Done, and worked like a charm. What is the best way to keep current with full version's of stock ROM's, modem's, etc. I see threads pop up, I know the letters refer to months, etc. but is there a standard place people look or subscribe?

Didn't think so, I would equate it to an ok linux boot partition but the other partitions were wiped (which is why once I could get into ODIN I knew I would be ok, just wanted to make sure I had the correct stock ROM)
I successfully followed the directions for using the no-flash-counter-increment stock+root, then installed clockworkmod recovery with adb dd, then installed Sonic R6. If I wanted to go back to stock+root, could I just Odin the no-flash-counter-increment stock+root?
This procedure worked great on my old Vibrant, but on the Vibrant, the Odin back to stock cleared the user partitions, but when I did the Odin stock+root on the S3, it rebooted with all of my settings/apps/etc. intact.
To be safe, I'm intending to reboot to recovery, wipe data/cache/dalvik, then reboot to download mode and Odin again. Is this a sound plan? (Sorry for the newbie question, but the Odin differences between the Vibrant and the S3 make me nervous.)
it came back with the settings and apps because you have to wipe before going back to stock, and if you are going back to stock, depending on what rom you are using, you will have to root again.
With the custom recovery you can flash away without increasing the counter.

Hey XDA! I recently perm-rooted my SGS3 T-mobile versionT999 using the QCOM Toolkit and Odin and I flashed custom CMW recovery 6.(whatever) and did backups of all my stuff like data, system, EFS partition and more. It also renamed my recovery restore files. I read a few things regarding the OTA update of JB coming out soon and heard that if it is updated it could actually turn s-off back on and mess up your root and mess up a bunch of other things that I've done.
First off I would like to ask for some clarification on this subject as to what exactly will happen if the OTA updates to JB and if it will automatically be prevented or if I have to do something to keep my phone from automatically upgrading to JB on its own. Also if it turns out that I cannot do the OTA JB update should I just flash a custom JB rom or possibly flash a stock release of the JB rom?
Secondly I wanted to ask about the flash counter. Currently I have not flashed anything but CWM (twice cause I tried to flash touch but it failed) I have not flashed any roms or kernels or radios yet. Has my flash counter already been tripped? What exactly will trip the counter? I also read something about resetting the trip meter and flashing everything back to stock including unrooting. Can someone post a link to a guide(s) that have steps for that? (Trust me I've been looking on XDA for a few hours trying to answer all these questions myself but I cant find some of them and I figured asking and having them answered all in one place would be much easier and helpful to me and others as well). In the future I may look into flashing another kernel so I can overclock and also some other roms. Another question arises though: What exactly is and insecure kernel ( I believe thats what they're called) and also what is an insecure boot img? Sorry I have so many questions but theres a lot of information to take in when a new phone receives root and gets a bunch of new possibilities!
One final question until new ones arise. What exactly are these new builds I keep reading about? Ive seen "T999UVALEM", "uvalh2", "uvalh3" , "UVLI2,3 & 4", "UVDLI3", "UVDLH3", "UVALG1", and "ULVH2" and I assume there are many more haha.
What exactly even are these??? Its just too much to keep up with. Thanks to anyone who can clear up the confusion
Well I believe that about sums up my questions so if you can help me out I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks guys!
If you have cwm installed the OTA will fail.

the uvl stuff is different leaks (builds)
The different builds came with new basebands (modems) as Samsung tries to increase reception
Look in development for the modem thread
For example I'm running the latest cm10 nightly and using the latest modem. So my baseband is T999UVLI8

So when I used the toolkit (which used Odin) to root and flash CWM the counter was tripped? Oh well I'm sure there will be workarounds later
Yes go ahead and flash a custom Rom. The developers will have a rooted version of the ota once it drops. And you can just flash that.

I don't know what the toolkit is but there was a guide in the development section on rooting without tripping the counter. Essentially it used Odin to flash a stock rom that had root injected and from there you could install cwm. As long as u flash roms with cwm it shouldn't trip the counter to my knowledge but if u use Odin to flash roms it will trip the counter

Hi
I know almost every thread has somebody complaining that titanium backup doesnt work on 4.3. I tried various different solutions and it doesnt really help.
First i couldnt boot up my phone after updating from 4.2.2 to 4.3 so i wiped everything and installed the factory rom using fastboot. I alsoi installed the radio and bootloader. That didnt fix it. Was still stuck on on the googke bootscreen. So after doing flashing tge factory for 3 times it finally booted.
Then i installed slim rom beta 1 it booted up then i read if i switch tb to legacy etc poath it should work. It didnt. Then after more research i saw its a kernel issue n somebody said i should try fancy kernel r38 which has tmb (or something like that) the extended version has that. Didnt work. Then i read with pa it should work so i flashed that...doesnt work.
The reason i need 4.3 because it works perfect with my bluetooth at home n car. Also with my nexus 7 first gen everything worked out of the box. Im writing this from my n7 rocking pa 3.96.
Is it a maguro issue?
Apprechiate the help.
Cheers

It works fine for me. Which version of TB do you use? The 6.1.0 version is made for Android 4.3. Maybe you are still using the old one. I didn't even had to set the path to /legacy...

ya got version 6.1.0. ill try rasbeanjelly 10.2 now.
after i installed rasbeanjelly. i am stuck on the google logo at the beginning. I guess i just stick with stock 4.3 now because i am fed up and need to use this phone.
on the rasbeanjelly somebody advised people to flash in this order to be able to use TB, it didnt work for me.
-flash rom
- gapps
- flash franco r390
- flash supersu 1.51.zip
so for now ill just stick with stock unrooted android.
And if you try not to flash supersu1.51.zip? Maybe the ROM has root on its own and superuser and supsu are conflicting..

I'm having this same problem. Haven't flashed an alternative su. TB says that I have root, but it just won't restore anything.

ya tried flashing with out the supersu 1.51 zip, but same issue. just read on the rasbeanjelly thread that somebody installed it in that order and then everything worked for him thats why i tried that.
Now im just on stock android and i just reinstalled all the apps from the app store so i guess ill try carbon (or whatever its called now) and see if that works if i just backup my file data instead of the whole app.
sadly i lost all my whatsapp conversations.
thanks for the help.
