It did for me. This is my 5th HTC One, and the 4.3 update fixed it.
Finally.
Sending my phone in for repair tomorrow, hopefully it fixes the problem considering you had 5...
FIFTH? oh man, I would not stand for that. especially when I had so much headache with rumrunner on my first device.
In other news, this update DEFINITELY is doing good things for my camera. I can see it start to haze out to purple, and then the phone promptly compensates and goes back to better (but not fantastic) colors. On a scale of 1/10, with 10 being the quality of my REAL digital camera, my phone went from a 2 to a 7
Mine got a little better. Sometimes it really sticks out but it's less common.
I've said a million times in the unlocked One forum that no software update will fix the purple tint. It's a hardware defect caused by thermal and electrical noise interfering with the camera. If it has ever shown the tint at any point, it's broken, plain and simple.
What the 4.3 update adds is an algorithm to detect a purple hue in the camera software. If it reaches a certain threshold, it drops the ISO to 800 and applies a filter to recolor the purple into gray. But once the phone gets too hot (about 1-2 min), there will be too much thermal noise for the software to mask and you'll get the same bright purple tint in low light.
The only fix is to open up a support ticket with HTC and send your phone to the repair center. They replace the camera module with a newer revision and add some insulation to shield the camera from noise. I sent in my One and now there are zero issues with the camera. It takes great low light pictures and shows no tint even if I leave it sitting on the table for 10 minutes.

Is this known to be a 100% of the time issue or hit and miss? I have not noticed any problems with my camera; I got the phone approximately 1-2 weeks ago.

You'll definitely know if you have the issue. There will be a very obvious purple cast over any photo or video taken in low light.
This is the problem if you don't know what it looks like. I'm sending mine in this weekend.

How long does the service turnaround take?
How about this one. . First HTC one I had, had a beautiful camera. Replaced it just before Christmas due to a blown speaker. Fired up my cln replacement on Christmas eve, rooted and rom'd it instantly of course only to find on Christmas morning that it would never focus! Crapy mass reproduced junk!

Kinda drawn one but here's the short version believe it or not.......I had my 3rd refurb on it's way to me to my house (store tech sent it to me directly to avoid long drive to store). Delivery got screwed up royally (I couldn't be there after 1st attempt and ups couldn't hold at warehouse due to restriction on package by sprint to protect against fraud and also couldn't change delievery address either due to fraud protection put in place) it couldn't get resolved so when I called store as last resort, the manager took care of me and had a new one waiting for me later that afternoon for my troubles (kinda sucked that I had to drive out really far but it was a new in box instead of refurb). He's taking care of tracking down and cancelling the other replacement etc etc. So hopefully now HTC will put in a good revised module as I've been reading they've been doing, and I should be good for a while with this one.

my defy's earpiece stopped working, I need to switch to loud speaker during calls just to answer it, I tried rebooting but it's still not working, do I need to get it replaced? I'm afraid to replace it because its water proofness might be lost
What do I do? What do I do????
You could just live taking your calls only through speakerphone or through a headset. That sounds really inconvenient though. Get it replaced. Should be free through motorola
Your concerns about waterproofness could be valid. My defy could stay underwater for minutes and not get any water damage. After replacing the earpiece through motorola, my defy died within seconds in only inches of water.
EDIT: Just as another piece of advice, I had my earpiece replaced TWICE. The first time, the replaced the entire front glass unit. I knew this because I had a scratch on the bezel of the screen. After I got my phone back the first time from repair, the scratch was gone. The second time, Motorola notified me that they changed the motherboard (I got a new IMEI and all). I had a scratch on my screen which was still there after the second service. My burned LED hadn't been changed either. So, if they replace your entire front glass/bezel, your defy should still be pretty solid. but if they replace the motherboard, id be caution. Id be cautious either way. Just letting everyone know my experiences.
thanks for the input, it really is inconvenient to always having headphones for answering, and if not available the loud speaker, but very troublesome when it is very noisy, I don't know how many days it will take to replace my earpiece and I doubt that the whole panel would be replaced, it would be very expensive for their part

Normally 10 working days, it depends the service center in your country. Don't worry about how much it is going to cost Motorola. Your handset's problem is a wide spread issue but I have to say I thought that was over. Saddly, Motorola doesn't replace any phone, the only solution they offer is repair. However, you can always push your luck with them first for a replacement. How would they expect you to be left without a smartphone for 10 days?
Please remember to wipe you data before handing your phone to them, including your SD card (Back up first).

by the way my green lens have NO isse (at the moment) ...
i have green lens, I didn't even dropped my defy that's why I'm wondering why the hell did my the speaker stopped working suddenly
Ok.. This conclude Defy earpiece would break regardless date of manufacturing and camera lenses module...

yep mine was broken brand new out of the box, and it was made early this year. so this confirms they still havent fixed the original problem and any defy can fail even brand new! whats worse is the replacement already started to fail within a week of getting it back
sometimes during a call the sound starts to go tinny/crackly, i find if that happens during a call if i push the back middle of the phone near the camera with my finger that fixes it. we'll see how long it lasts before the speaker fails entirely, if it happens again I'm not sure if I'll send it back to them or repair it myself with the improved design K850i speaker...
I have two Defys with same issues, but there are a biggest problem, after reparation i'm not sure the quality of sealing for water. One of my Defy has problems with mist under glass of screen.
this is true, but i dont plan to test the defy by makign phone calls and videos underwater, thats just asking for trouble. i bought it for the extra durability and water resistance, rather than for waterproofness!
I waited many years for a decent rugged phone to replace my Siemens ME45, its just a shame motorola didnt get the earpiece right and didnt improve the design when it became clear there was a serious problem with it! still, i'm loving my defy even with the problems

I never test my Defy on water so far. I bought it for the durability but not going to force into it purposely. However, my Defy had drop twice from 1 meter height and half a meter height repectively. No scratch and it worked fine so far.
Hope it will work until the next improved Defy come to shore..
Edit: How do you people set your earpiece volume? Are you guys set it highest?
It actually have 15 steps increment. Mine is now set at 10/15 as per attached picture shown and it's good enough to hear the other side talking. App: AudioManager
Sent it off for repair because it had screen fitment problems out of the box (screen was loose but didn't ripple, no yellow spots), the casing was perfect and not damaged. When I got the device back from repair, screen was replaced and tightened, but it now ripples on normal touch, has 1 dead pixel, light bleed around the bezel (can be seen in the video, top part of the screen, also around capacitive touch buttons), yellow spot in lower right corner when the phone gets warm AND the casing was damaged in several places.
I'm sending this video to HTC and will demand either my money back or a new device, it is unlocked, but this cannot be caused by software, so they should accept the warranty. Video:

In my opinion this is the repair shop faults.
Either way this is unacceptable. Very sloppy work.
I am very curious how HTC will resolve this.
My last resort is to send my HOX or any other future devices back to their so called repair or service centers. Your major problems will be resolved but additional cosmetic problems will surface such as this gentleman's screen. My first and only experience is purchasing an EVO 3D gsm version from a local yahoo auctions seller in HK. I didnt want to nitpick but the screen had leaks of light when viewing in datkness and it wasnt aligned properly. So i thought what the heck..send it in for repair or servicing...got it back in a week with less light bleed but some of my capacitive lights werent lighting up completely. As if they never checked after other problems were resolved. I ended up selling it for a good 150 dollar loss since i am extremely picky with these screens. Just last week i got the HOX and the darn thing seems to be perfect from the factory but guess what..that small yellow spot pops up when the phone heys to 36 or 37 degrees... Much more annoying than a single dead pixel. I am having an EXCHANGE for another unit but i doubt they will be perfect. For some people stating they have no problems at all...they arent looking hard enough. There is always something imperfect with all the htc phones i have bought. Since the hd2. But whatever...their outter appearance are simply the best looking and i just couldnt pass it up.

@Tw1tchy I just know it was serviced by HTC Germany.
I think I'll get this one replaced, and when I get the replacement, I will just going to sell it and be done with this One X story, too much risk and I don't want to send my phone 1000 km from Croatia to Germany every time I find a problem.

So, long story short.
I received my device which had screen flex and PUSHED the sevice senter to replace the LCD.
Got back the device today. The LCD Module (LCM) has been changed. But, they made some pinch on side of polycarbonate body, while replacing the LCD.
Also, the screen is more flexible in both left and right edges with loosely fixed screen on left center. Hope it becomes hard after some use and heat.
Just for information, i have replaced 3 devices and sent the fourth one to service center three times till now.
I have given up now & keeping the device. After owning HTC from HTC Hermes times, this is the first device i have seen this much quality control issues.
Earlier, I was confident enough to order HD2 and EVO3D from UK (Iam living in Dubai) when they release those.
Now, i lost that confidence with HTC. I still didn't unlock the device for the same reason. My first time with any HTC device without modding the ROM. HTC should be proud of themselves
I have light bleeding on my one x as well. Its quite annoying but you have to get used to it. I'm not risking sending my one away after I have already been without it for a month

Has anyone else noticed the infamous purple noise problem on their Verizon Ones in low light? There's a giant thread about it here in the international variant's section. It gets especially bad when you take a picture in total darkness or cover the lens entirely. If your phone has one of the defective sensors, the whole screen will turn bright purple.
Also curious to see if there's a certain batch of camera sensors behind this. If you have this problem, could you browse to /sys/android_camera/sensor and post the text inside? Mine says "st vd6869(1.0) cinesensor 2013-05-03".
Before anyone suggests that this is a software problem, there are a quite a few units that don't exhibit this issue and show perfectly black images in the dark, so I'm more inclined to believe this is a hardware defect.

Wow, that sucks.
I'm considering the same thing, though I'm not facing such an issue. I want to know if this camera problem is widespread to see if it's worth exchanging; it would be awful to go through the whole exchange process and wind up with the exact same problem on the replacement. And it would especially suck to lose your bootloader unlock for nothing...

My dad also has the HTC One from Verizon (got it a week later). His camera exhibited no such issues. I am going to try messing with his again tomorrow.
Its definitely a widespread issue though as you can see on that XDA post. I've also been following that since I got the phone. There is someone who thinks it might be a software issue and can be fixed by flashing libs. He is working on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45158495
I am just afraid of returning it and getting another headache such as dead pixel(s), chassis gaps/scratches, or anything else like that. I am trying to determine if I could live with it. I don't take many low light shots, but it will suck when I do.
When did you get your phone? It sucks that I have to decide by tomorrow!
EDIT: My camera pretty much does the same thing as shown in this pic (For others who may not be aware what we are talking about)

I got the phone about a week after release. Not sure that means much though, they seem to be randomly using old leftover parts to build the phones (according to the serial number, mine was built in July).
Can you post a picture of the purple stuff? I've seen other threads on this - in one case it did look like classic low-light issues that plagued certain Dincs, but another guy's pictures seriously did not look like digital noise to me - looked like an oily smear, maybe a manufacturing defect.
st vd6869(1.0) cinesensor 2013-06-20
Mine doesn't have the issue and it was purchased in the release day.
I had this same problem. I went in to verizon and showed the guy and we went through 3 replacements before he swore it was a software issue. Then I showed him that covering up the camera lens on their display model showed a plain black screen, while the replacements were showing that purple/pink tint. Here's an album with a couple of pictures of what it looks like.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/m93o47ugxapos4v/hB6YN6kw-n/HTC One
My camera does the same.
I took it to the VZW store today but didn't have my ID nor did I bring the box with me.
Planning on going back tomorrow.
They told me they'd replace the phone for me so we'll see what the new one does.
Will report back!
BTW, nice car Frankie1588 if that's yours
Mazda RX-8?
For reference - here's a pair of low light shots, one with night mode on and one without. Definitely worth replacing because this phone sees better in the dark than I do, and that's pretty cool - this scene is nowhere near as bright as the pictures make it look, and night mode gets rid of speckling artifacts entirely.
So just going into the Verizon store, you guys were successful in getting replacements? How hard was it to sell that the phone had an issue?
guess I'll test the camera as soon as fedex drops off the phone tomorrow. I'll just call if its bad and make them overnight me a new one.
so if you take a shot in low light without the flash on, and it comes out fine, your camera is ok?

I just went into the store today and they took my word for it when I described the problem.
Said they have been having a lot of people come in for the same reason.
Since I used another line's upgrade they said I couldn't swap out in the store.
But because of the device still being under warranty, they're shipping me a new one
And I just have to ship my current one back. I seriously hope this new one doesn't have

I got mine with the Edge program (don't judge me), and they were very easy to deal with in store. I just told them that it's an awesome phone, and the camera wasn't working. I showed them that it wasn't working by just covering the lens with my wallet. It showed that pink/purple tint on the screen. We went through three phones before we found one that didn't have that when covering the lens. I would definitely take yours back because the lens, when not taking in any light, should be completely black.

I got mine via edge to, 5 months after getting the note 2 on my upgrade. I'll either pay it off or trade it in at half paid off.
I think some of y'all might be mistaken on the camera.
You need to take a picture in pitch black room, not just cover the camera with your finger. Mine was able to draw light in through my finger, but when I went into the bathroom with the lights off, I got a solid black picture.
Just like a flashlight shines red through your finger, so to some extent can natural light.

I completely agree about not covering it with your finger, light still gets in. You can definitely find an object to cover up the lens, though. The display model at the Verizon store was black when covered with my wallet, but my phone was showing that tint when covered.

then I would definitely get a replacement. Mine was solid black. Also don't have any gaps along the top, or scrapes, imperfections that I can find.

yea I got lucky as well with the build quality.
I am hoping the same with camera.
I just tested in pitch black.
taking pictures with out the flash on obviously left me with a black picture.
with flash everything was great.
am I do now believe my camera is ok?
or did I test wrong?
thank you in advance.
Hi all.
I've received my brand new LG G3 32GB international D855. Awesome phone, really.
Anyway I've encountered some hardware related problems:
1st I've noticed that top and bottom of the screen are brighter, but I think it's due to the LCD technology itself (used amoleds in the last 3 years so a different technology with different and, imho, worse problems).
2nd, and the topic of this question, my camera is showing few very light scratches on the back lens. From my tests, fortunately, I realized that they're not visible in any kind of photo.
I used a cover and a screen protector since I unboxed.
My question is: is anyone experiencing similar issue? Is the lens so easy to damage?
I'm pretty worried because my Note 3 never showed a scratch in 7 months used without any kind of protection...

I have also used a bumper case since the 1st day. I checked my camera lens just now and did not notice any scratches. I think it might be a manufacturing fault.
Not sure my G2 had a ton of scratches too but it never came out in photos... so you should be A-OK... maybe just different glass types.
Note 3 has other quality issues *shakes* lol. S Pen die much? lol.
Meanwhile I realised that the issue with the screen is an actual problem called screen bleeding, related to LCD's back illumination.

I've had mine since 2 days prior to main release (know a guy, mwohaha)
I managed to drop it from my hand, when falling asleep in my chair after working with some stuff for 12h straight - it fell on the floor, and slid a good 20-30 cm across dust, and some "gravel particles" from my shoes - camera facing down. NO scratches.
I'm actually quite impressed

So they sent me a butter unity?
Wasn't sapphire indestructible?
Anyway I removed cover and the screen protector, actually they only covered the beautiful design... Just try a few day without nothing and see if the situation deteriorates.

I guess you got a faulty unit; I'd send it in to LG, or at least go on the live chat. That should do the trick, I hope!
sounds like a manufacturing fault. just swap it...i used the bumper too no scratches so far

Yeah but I don't know how LG operates... I can't stay without phone for weeks...

If I'm not wrong I have 2 years to have free reparations/replacements right? Scratches aren't affecting my photos and are only barely visible with naked eye and only in determinated light conditions. If the problem becomes worse or photos will deteriorate I'll update this thread with my experience with LG's warranty system.
For now this phone rocks.

I've noticed some "light leaks" on the top and the bottom of the screen. It's nothing so disturbing, but it's not acceptable in a high end phone like the G3. :/
Anyone else noticed this? Is more visible when you're seen a darker color on the entire screen.

I've also, but it's very hard to notice and when watching films or playing games is almost invisible.
Anyway guys I've an update for you: I'm not crazy scratches are very visible under direct light and I'll definely contact the seller...
Little update
Sent the phone back to the shop (yes, directly to the seller because it was less than 10 days I have bought it :victory, it should get there on Monday.
Let's see if the screen leaky borders, creacky cover and most important buttery lens are enough for a replacement :fingers-crossed:
I'll update you when the shop will contact me.
Another and last update
The shop received the faulty phone today and replaced with a new one
I should get it tomorrow :victory:

I'm testing it now, they also replaced the wall charger that produced a kind of electric noise (and I forgot to tell them it did...)
Another update after the screen tests.
EDIT:
Anyway, a note: the "old" G3 had a "tight" USB which was a pain to plug... the new one works as it should
the "old" G3 had orrible blacks... the new one has very darker blacks
The screen still have the barely visible blue bar on top (seem to be a G3 feature) and has little brighter bottom borders... so I think it's the LCD itself and not a defect. I tested the screen with a simple app called something like Screen Test and every color is uniform (no illumination problems, darker bars/leaks, nothing.
THIS PHONE DOESN'T HAVE AM/PM BUG!
EDIT2:
LOL, AM/PM bug still present

By any chance can you tell me if you have a model with revised hardware? Because i thought all G3's had a hard to plug in usb (including mine).
About the borders i seem to have them too. I think its normal because i can notice them on all lcd displays like the iphone.
On the lowest screen brigtness, during day light my navigation bar is darker than the black bezel on the phone so i assume that yours is the same correct?
And my charger also starts hissing when charging the phone. Weird thing is it also makes the phone hiss when i have earphones on. I dont know if i should be worried.

Accessed phone infos from dialer and it says rev 1.0 like the "old" one.
Yeah I've set brightness to auto and the navbar is barely visible, not like an amoled but the "old" phone had blueish black which was horrible while watching movies even in a dark room with brightness set to minimum
And the new wall charger has the same problem so I think it's normal and it shouldn't explode
I'm not sure about the headphones+charger issue, sorry.
I can hear interference with earphones but I'm not sure of what you mean...

Yeah i thought so.
The blacks are normal to be a little bluish. All lcd are like that and even mine to a small degree.
Thank you for your reply lol. Good luck with your phone buddy
Scratched? How about fully cracked!
First - the phone was not dropped or have any impacts other than what you might get from walking with a phone in your pocket. Other than normal daily use, safe handling and really careful use the phone had nothing happen to it. I cannot pick even a medium bump that happened, but now I have a cracked lens with a hole exposing the camera beneath. LG is warning me that 'mishandling' is not covered ... I certainly did not mishandle the phone in any way.

Here is the video I made for Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH1fNexSNQk
I'm on my 4th M9 and every phone I had seems to have light leak. Its noticeable in a dark room and the light leaks out from the volume rocker area. Some devices you can see straight on, others you notice with a slight tilt. The 4th device has it by the volume button and in the lower left corner. Its as if the screen isn't touching the side panel all the way. Has anyone gotten a phone without this? Thinking of giving up but love the software experience of the M9.

Am I the only one who's astounded that someone would even think to check for, or be bothered by, such a thing, let alone return three otherwise perfectly functional phones over it?
A $830 phone shouldn't have light bleed. If I'm using it at night no light from under the screen should be visible on the side due to manufacturing issues.
I see it as nitpicking, yes it does a little, but easy zoned out.

Since you're already on your 4th M9, it's not a manufacturing issue, it's a design issue. If this is what's so important to you, then you're going to have to pick a different phone and hope it doesn't do the same thing.
Mine doesn't, at least I haven't noticed it. It is nitpicking and the price you pay for the phone is to pay for the components and the design and other tangible reasons, not to ensure some light doesn't come out of it in the dead of night.
What I have noticed is that light leaks out of the led on the back when I take a photo though.. it's a little disconcerting when I try and take a picture at night...
I had two M8s with light leaks that got progressively worse over a couple of months, presumably because the display was lifting (Had this same issue with my HTC Droid DNA to some extent as well) . Last time I go for a One until this general design is changed.
Mine might, but since I have a case on it, I couldn't tell you.

My HTC One M9 also has a light leak in the same spot, it's a little annoying but I can deal with it.
My first had a stuck pixel so I was able to get it replaced.
This one came with a nice scratch on my screen out of box but they told me they could not justify a replacement for that and the light leak.
To be honest I was a bit glad he said no as I do not have to re-root or unlock anything again.

Mine does not do this, are you getting these devices from a store? My guess ( if that is the case) is that it's a faulty batch and they should be made aware, the reason why this is probably so annoying to you is because it's a great looking phone and you don't want any issues, even though this is a problem that is cosmetic and didn't affect performance is any way.
Either have a word and swap it again, admit defeat? Or change handsets, but assure you, this is not normal.

Wouldn't swap it for a scratch? No that's bull. They should change that 100%. I used to work in the industry, I still do indirectly, sometimes shop workers open boxes to check out new devices , always be wary of a shop attendant walking towards you whilst opening the box, check it before opening, run through some simple tests prior to leaving the store also. To prove it wasn't you at fault if there is a fault.
