Every single time I set my phone down on a flat surface the screen auto-rotates to landscape mode. It is extremely frustrating! It doesn't matter if I'm on stock it ALWAYS happens. I can turn off auto-screen rotate but when I actually want landscape I have to go through all of the menus to turn it on which isn't going to cut it. I know there has to be a solution for this. I've been searching around but haven't been able to find an answer and I am fed up. Any ideas?
After looking in to it I'm just going to use an auto-rotate widget. Adjusting the rotation delay seems like it will be too complicated.

Is there a way to adjust how much you need to turn the phone before it switches from portrait to landscape? I just put my phone down and if it is not absolutely straight it switches to landscape. Is there an app or some setting?
Tried a search but did not find an answer.
TIA
Firstly I love this phone. After working through 4 Samsung Galaxy S's to finally ask to be switched away from it to this, I was very happy.
This phone is rock solid.
BUT. I have a problem. I like to use maps or nav in my car. I have the phone plugged in but after the timeout period the screen goes dim. I'm normally OK with that but the dim setting on this phone seems to be ridiculously dark!
To your knowledge, without rooting it to get the Cyanogen settings, is there a way to brighten the dimmed level of brightness?
I have tried disabling the auto-brightness and bumping it up but still after the timeout period it dims very dark.
How about a toggle or widget to keep the screen always on? There are quite a few available I reckon. I know its one extra step to carry out whereas you are looking for something more automated. Maybe there is an app that can let you make a list of apps that enable screen always on?... Not sure about that but worth a look eh?
i do use a switch with Extended Controls widget.
the problem isnt that it dimms, it's that when it does dim it is far too dark.
When the samsung went to the dim setting it was still viewable.
If i remember right when i had it plugged in it would not dim if i was viewing maps.
anyways, the phone as it is is useless when it dims. i can touch the screen to bring back the brightness. I can set the timeout period to 30 minutes, but all of this requires that i re-activate the screen to bring it back.
i guess i am seeing one more reason to root the device. i'm nervous about rooting and would prefer to not have to if i dont need to.

This is a characteristic of the software that you are using. The software needs to establish a WAKE LOCK in order to keep the screen bright. If it isn't working, then there is something wrong with the software you are using. I suggest using COPILOT for navigation. It works properly.

agreed, the software is probably working properly. google navigation does not time out. google maps does and they dont give you an option to have it not time out when plugged in. silly if you ask me.
i dont mind that as much as i mind how much it dims.
Does anyone else find that the desire z dims too dark?
anyways, i may be beating a dead horse here. trying to get blood from a stone and all that.
well if anyone has any other ideas that would be helpful. thanks for the suggestions thus far.
So Just got the 360 as a birthday present to myself. However I am having buyers remorse right now. I want to keep the screen on in ambient mode however it does not work. I have tried with it on and off to no avail. Screen just turns off after 5 seconds. Why is this not working? Am I missing something? I have searched Google for hours and found nothing. This is driving me mad. Also my wrist gesture do not work i was under he impression that when you bring the watch up to your face the screen will come on. Is it possible mine is just a dud?
Any thoughts on how to fix this, as well as any apps that may force screen to stay on?
Turning the wrist with the watch towards me in a single quick move is sufficient.
So the issue was a broken gyroscope or accelerometer. Returned to store for a new one and ambient works fine as does the raise to view time. If any noobies have this issue I would suggest returning for a new one.
Hi!
My Desire Eye's home screen has been rotating whenever I slightly tilt it since this morning and no, the Auto Rotation mode is not enabled. I did a soft reset but still the screen keeps rotating, and I can't find any solutions for it anywhere.
Usually, when Auto Rotate is ON it rotates almost every apps' screens but never the home screen or menu screen. When I woke up today somehow the Car mode was turned ON, but I exited it without doing anything else. I wonder if it caused something to change in my phone.
Does anyone know how to fix this? You'd save a life. :crying:

Yes, I'm sure.
Hello,
I have an odd question, but first...how my question came about.
I have had my Moto360 for about 5 months now and enjoy it. But, there is that pesky battery life issue. I tried the Ambient screen and I like that because of being able to simply have a clock to see the time. If I get a notification, the watch goes full brightness, vibrates and shows the normal watch face for that. But...for the 10 other hours I'm not looking at my watch it doesn't need to be constantly lit up with Ambient Mode.
So...is there a way to have Tilt to Wake show the ambient clock along with full brightness watch face for notifications? Sort of a hybrid mode of both options. I would guess this would require root to modify a base function of the OS. I currently use Pujie Black for my watchface as well. Appreciate any thoughts!
Before the most recent update this is actually how Ambient mode worked and I missed it. Screen was of until I moved it and then it must lit up to Ambient. It was very nice and I miss that functionality. I really wish there was a way to get it back.
Bump...
Anyone been able to figure this out... Is there a hack that would allow this?
