Oh, I'll youtube that! Thanks.
And you use it with the original screen protector?

Do you have any source for that? I've searched but haven't found any info on what glass is used on the ZL.

its obvious sont never almost never uses gorilla glass. and ZL is newer than Z even better.
i vaguely remember reading somewhere that it was only the Z that got the dragontail treatment. the zl uses whatever the other option is besides gorilla glass and dragontail.
I think i read somewhere the screen of ZL is made up of normal mineral glass (used in watches etc just a little bit scratch proof) nothing fancy like dragontrail or gorilla glass, may be that's the reason they have put a shatterproof sheet on the glass to keep it all together in case of an accident.

Hmmm... then why do they put a screen protector on the Z's as well?
My understanding is the Z uses Dragontrail on the front.
With Gorilla Glass on the rear.
Apparently the reason for the rear being Gorilla Glass, it allows the different colour finishes the Z is available in.
Does the Xperia Z use both Dragontrail and Gorilla Glass?
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/02/20/does-the-xperia-z-use-both-dragontrail-and-gorilla-glass/
I have taken the ZL to have the same glass as the Z.
Particularly as it uses the same protective shatterproof film arrangement
But unlike the Z, the ZL's Sony logo is embedded in the glass.

Well all the aricles on Internet are misleading about Z's display glass so I'm not sure about it but I guess front display glass of both should be same.
The back of the Z being Gorilla Glass is news to me but I can assure you that Sony doesn't use Gorilla Glass if so it being on the back of the Z then maybe but it's not on the front the Z or the ZL

Xperia SP uses gorilla glass. Says so on Sony site. It's kinda weird that SP has it and none of the other phones do. Maybe they are dragontail. I wish Sony would be specific about the glass.

Your right I forgot about the SP it does use Gorilla Glass it's strange the choices they make why only the SP I wish my Xperia T used it as well.
So we still don't know what's Zl's screen made of. It's weird that Sony makes it so hard to find out. It should be on the official specs page.

You know whats funny about that screen protector on Z, when you remove it the SONY logo goes off with it. Its printed on the screen protector... Not a case for ZL though.

So does the xperia play have Gorilla Glass?
Sony Ericsson use their own Hardened Mineral Glass screens.
What the Xperia play has is a mystery though.
Some people say it's plastic, others say its possibly glass...

whatever it is, it's damn strong and pretty comparable to gorilla glass.
it passes all the scratch tests I've thrown at it, I'm a stickler when it comes to my screen strength. It lives in my pocket without a (additional?) screen protector
Honesty it ain't that tough. I used a xperia play also. My screen crack with just a drop. Cost me a 50buck for repair.

Honestly, this thread should be stickied. xD

I needed an additional screen protector. Scratches too easily.

Did you remove the pre-installed film first? The film scratches easily, the mineral glass underneath does not.
By the way, it's mineral glass like what gets used on wristwatches. Not gorilla glass, not plastic.

Have just ordered an Xperia Arc S and am curious as to whether it comes with a factory fitted screen protector as did my Xperia Play and X10??
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
They all come with a shatter-proof sheet attached from the factory. In addition, you get a screen protector in the box.
I use the combination of the screen protector on top of the shatter-proof sheet to keep my arc safe.
Swyped from my SE Xperia arc (LT15i) using Tapatalk 2
It should come with one pre-fitted at the factory and a spare one in the box. You can see the one fitted if you look very very carefully!!!
Cheers

I wish I knew this before putting the spare one over the pre-fitted. Now I have two screen protectors on the screen - it works fine, but I feel kind of silly

The pre-fitted one that you're talking about is not the screen protector as you call it but a shatter-proof sheet over the mineral glass.
And don't worry, you're not the only one who does that. Plenty of us, including myself, have applied a screen protector over it (knowingly).
Hi guys
I have Xperia ZL (c6503) and I want to remove the shutter proof screen protector

I took mine off as well, I found the glass had a weird residue on it after I removed the ASF. I used nail polish remover and it seemed to get rid of it. The are two problems with how sony deals with its ASF. One it is easily scratched and hurts the screen clarity, two the glass itself has no anti fingerprint coating.
IU would suggest removing it and finding a good screen protector that has a nice glass like feel to it. I have been using the Clairvue, but you can find multiple posts where people suggest their favorite. Ideally you could find a tempered glass one but I have since moved to the xperia z and my wife uses the ZL, so I'm not sure if there is any out for the ZL.

Thank you very much :good:
Hi,
I am planning to buy Xperia t2 ultra dual.I liked its design and UI very much. But my doubt is regarding its screen.I have searched internet for many days just to find out about whether T2 ultra has gorilla glass or not.
I just want to know whether it has gorilla glass or any other. Is xperia T2 ultra's huge screen resistant to scratches? I hope its users can give me a satisfying reply.
If its not scratch resistant then how do you guys protect it from scratches?
I have also read someone saying that it is a fragile mobile not able to withstand tough handling,is it true?
How was your experience using T2 ultra?
It would be very helpful if you can give me a satisfying reply.
Hello,
Screen is not fully scratch resistant but it is fine. You can buy tempered glass for this device which helps to prevent and complete protection frim scratches and screen bricks.
Cost is only $2/3. There are some back panel protection glasses are also available in market, stop scratches on back panel.
I am using it since first day.
Full protection
Thank you , But just one more doubt
Sir, thank you for your reply.I just want to know whether it has gorilla glass or
Ofcourse It has corning Gorilla glass 3(Damage resistance glass) .
No it does not has a gorilla glass protection. That's why we use a tempered glass screenguard. It offers the same protection as gorilla glass

Oh thats confusing.!!
Sir, you see one of the member is saying it has gorilla glass and you are saying it doesn't?
This is the main problem i faced when i decided to buy this phone. Some say it has gorilla glass while others say it doesnt. So what is true?? I contacted customer care (Sony India) and it seems even they are not sure.Has anyone had any experience with the scratch resistant capabilities of T2 ultra's screen?
PS: I think sony should mention about the screen in their product description
Dude, in 1 line : don't worry about screen protection, it has and additionally u can use tempered glass without any touch performance issue. Buy or not its your desire
In current, Gorilla glass is not a mark to choose a device, it was in past years.
