HTC Latest update 4.3 - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I have recently purchased an HTC One for verizon and was thinking about rooting it and unlocking it.....my question is I just recently updated to the 4.3 OTA update and I am wondering if I can still root it and unlock it or do I have to wait for a tool to do so?

Sad face ok thank you for the reply and for your time

Does anyone know if the tool to hack the HTC One will be updated for the 4.3 update by chance?

You can wait, or ask beaups, but ETA is kinda rude to some ppl.

on 4.3
I was s-off so not sure this will work for you but what i did was i needed to write a super cid of 1111111 then went to htcdev and got unlock code and unlocked then wrote my regular cid back there are instructions on xda then i had to use fastboot to install custom boot and root again because i lost adb for some unknown reason.
i have to go to work if you want i'll post all the links i used tonight

Yeah I will wait and be patient I am sure being a program developer its annoying when people wine for updates to their programs.

You have to be S-Off to write the cid to 11111111. If you try to do it without S-OFF the phone just freezes.

So i was thinking about trading my Galaxy S4 out for a HTC one because it seems the only phone getting dev support and not fubar from verizon. If i got a new one today would i be able to root and flash roms right away or is there a possibility of new update blocking it.

There is a 4.3 update that will block you from flashing roms. It will likely pop the moment you turn the phone on so stay alert for that.
I got my phone directly through Verizons concession line about a week ago.

Or ask the seller to provide you with the build number and version. I did that before I bought my One but unfortunately the guy updated it to 4.3 before shipping it out

[Q] My Tmobile G2 new update can perm root?

Just received my G2 from Tmobile yesterday, turned on the phone and there was a notifaction saying there is a new version that has Wifi calling and many more fixes. My question is that will I be albe to perm root my G2 now after I updated? Thank you
Yes you will be able to perm root w/o a problem. Go to the G2 android development sections and all your answers are already there
should i get the update from tmobile after getting root
i rooted first since it was easy and now i get a notification saying i got an update is it ok to update thanks in advance
You can root and go straight to a custom rom that takes those fixes and much much more. I recommend CM or Enom's for functionality or virtuous for aesthetics.

I received a new G2 last week, applied the OTA update for wifi calling, and then successfully perma-rooted using the wiki. Took about an hour to go from stock to CM 6.1.1 and overclocked to 1.51Ghz.

But assuming that's the original T-Mo OTA (and I've seen nothing to suggest there's a new one) then it's safe to install the OTA and simply re-root.
You are correct, of course, that folks should stay clear of future OTAs if they are rooted though, till they've been checked by the devs - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875099

Yeah, I think it just threw some people off with the idea of an ota on a new device. It's still the same ole 1st ota for the G2 unfortunately. Nothing to rip out or borrow...
weird that it didn't come with the ota already on the device but since android, ota's haven't been flashed on the device. nevermind, I thinking of the old wm devices... I'm a bit tired.

AT&T Galaxy S III unlocked

Hello,
Sorry if this was asked before but i couldnt find it in the search as its coming up with numerous returns on something else.
Anyways, I bought an AT&T s3 rooted and i was able to put it back to stock with Android 4.0.4. After i put it back to stock i got it unlocked to use on T-Mobile.
My questions are,
how do i update the software to the latest version. do i update it with AT&T software or do i use the T-Mobile software version?
If I update it again will it get locked again?
Rooting is not really an option as it is for my daughters use
thank you in advance for any replies,
V

If you update i believe it will no longer be unlocked to use on T-Mobile. However you do need to use the AT&T ROMs for it to work on your phone.
so is it best to root the phone and update it that way.

You can try updating the phone using the phone's OTA updater. It may not work if you have root.
I don't recommend updating all the way to 4.3 as it will load a 4.3 bootloader which cannot be downgraded and Knox.

Once TWRP is installed, how are OTA updates accomplished?

I just tried to update via downloading and then letting the phone install it, but it just rebooted me into recovery and when I clicked reboot and the phone turned back on, it said the update was corrupted.
Or do I not need to worry about OTA's anymore? Going to be flashing CM13 whenever it becomes available anyway.
Interested in the response to this, my strategy will be to stay stock for a week or two to get OTA updates, then root when good custom rom is available, on the assumption the dev will update rom with OTA updates. I'm new to HTC so please let me know if this approach is flawed

Hello guys
You can't use OTA's when you change the original recovery. You need to reflash it to HTC version to complete the update.
All explanations can be find there :

Haha, One of the best roms you will ever see is already released, Leedroid, don't wait for OTA's or you'll grow old. Just unlock and flash, soff and firmware update later lol.

Step 8 is your answer.
Hi guys I'm having same problem. I rooted my HTC10 and now I can't install official updates. My question is: it's really a problem that? Never Upgrading anymore my smartphone I'm going to loose something important?
And when this device will be upgraded to Android N what happens?
Rooting it I blocked forever my device? Never more official updates?
Please let me know

It is a problem you should always be up to date with your firmware. This problem can be resolved BY flashing the RUU for your device.
Excuse me yldlj, what RUU means?

Thank you CoCrop18 for your post.
I read links and now I've an answer for the community:
Someone is considering to have a workaround that allow to install OTA updates (original or modified by community) in rooted htc10?
Or can we stress HTC to release OTA for rooted devices too because they allow us officially to root it?

What is the best rom to update to?

HI, Im just wondering what the best rom to update to is for my HTC 10.
Im currently on UK EE network.
I have unlocked the bootloader (via HTCdev), I have S-off (via sunshine) and i am still running stock recovery and official rom on android 6.0.1.
I am hoping to update to nougat.
My plan is to hopefully lock the bootloader again after once i have updated so i can use Android pay again. Their damn safetynet app stops me from running it having an unlocked bootloader.
Answering my own question though, would android pay still work with a custom rom? or can I use an official Nougat rom then lock the bootloader to fool it?
with magisk and phh su safety net currently also passes on rooted custom roms.

I never used Android pay before my HTC10. the last phone I rooted was an old Galaxy S4, I had installed TWRP, SU, and used resurrection remix for it. it seemed to work perfectly fine. until I loaned it to someone an now its dead, (suspect water damage).
I'm currently at the stage of whether to install TWRP & SU to root it then go on to install a custom ROM, or leave as is.
I was tempted to go S-off,/Locked to allow it to work via sunshine but I would need to reset to S-on first.
Not entirtely sure of which route to take at the mo
What did you end up doing here, I'm on EE 1.95.91 and want to get onto N and a custom ROM - any suggestions?

Ive ended up using Leedroid. But I have lost the WiFi calling option. Im presuming that this is because of My HTC10 being locked to EE and having the EE branded firmware on. Lee an me have been trying to figure this out as I seem to be the only one
The latest Leedroid can be found on his website.

Youre s-off so update the firmware and install either viper or leedroid.. Both work fine. I'm in ee too although I don't care about wifi calling and android pay.. Magisk may allow them to work.

Thanks, SuperCID done, had to mess about a little as bloody Powershell has took over cmd despite disabling it.
The latest fw on htc for unlocked/developer HTC10 is 2.41.617.3, I presume this would be the same thing done via RUU and Sneakyghost's has no particular changes to it?

correct, just that it won't wipe your data..
You have a Dev Edition device? If not, you would need the 2.41.401.3 firmware.

Right Ill use Sneaky's version then.
My HTC is direct from EE, but now as I've rooted it etc it says its a dev for the obvious security check.
My problem has always been as it had original EE based firmware on it. a little googling shows a lot of network features dont work unless you use it. I know currently my VoLTE doesnt work as it drops to 3G when i make a call.

THANKS

It's fine. I was gonna be rooted only for a short time just to check those things out. It sucks not having root but I'd rather not deal with the lag from the boot image if it worked on this update that is. Maybe someone will crack this update in time cause nothings unhackable.
So is downgrading possible still or does this update block downgrading to? I haven't tried yet but if you have then save me some time

The U firmware would remove the Verizon bloatware. For example, if you left Verizon and went to T-Mobile...the U firmware of T-Mobile firmware could be installed to get the full bands for LTE coverage available. But if you are on Verizon and happy, probably not worth the trouble.
