I feel i have a peculiar situation. I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII SGH-T999 with the Hellfire 4.4.2 rom flashed to it. The default superuser app worked fine. But, i downloaded superuser because i like it better. I tried to update the binary but it always got stuck at the checking to make sure it is working part of the update. So, i downloaded the binary to flash through clockworkmod recovery. Now i have no root access whatsoever. I have no idea what to do. So my question is how do i regain root access and update the binary?

I dont know how it happened, but it seems that i no longer have root. Whenever i try to launch apps that require root access (ie. SetCPU, BatteryCalibration) the app just freezes there and crashes when i try to go back to home. Superuser binaries also fail to update at the "gaining root access..." sequence.
I thought of using the Gnex toolkit 5.5 to re-root the phone, but since im running AOKP Milestone 4 which is Android 4.0.3, it says rooting on 4.0.3 is not supported yet. Is there any alternative way to re-root my device? Im not even sure how my phone unrooted by itself!
if recovery works, reflash rom maybe if not just go back to stock with fastboot, root again and then reflash rom
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Use my Root Helper Has helped quite a few people Clicke here, to see thread
You can root every GNex, with it ^^ Even 4.0.4. All tested
Thanks, reflashing ROM works! My root is back.
And your root helper might come in handy. I'll keep it close.
Hi everyone,
pardon me for my noobiness
I have tried cf autoroot step by step with caution. but my device still stays unrooted.
i have i747 at&t with 4.1.2
in odin i does see everything as good, but no SuperSU app.
root checker goes in infinte loop returns nothing, Tibu says device not rooted.
do i have options?
i want to stick to 4.1.2 TW stock with root access, twrp and triangle away to reset my counter.
as I already used CW 10.2 JB 4.3 and was missing my ugly touchwiz, camera, multiwindow

If the auto root worked (rebooted into recovery and did it's thing) than just download SuperSU from the play store. Update the binary by opening the app and than recheck for root.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
after trying for 5 times, it worked.
i am rooted now.
but have another issue, gave my google account for phone setup. also used mrrobinson debloater.
noticed that none of my apps from playstore are getting installed on my phone.
is it because mrrobinsoon debloater deleted something or its just me , a noob..
pls help.

If you can still get into your custom recovery, try flashing [ROM][ZIP]Stock Rooted Deodexed/Odexed MD4 with SuperSU/Busybox 1.20.2

Most likely the SuperSU app is installed but being blocked by Knox. Go to the app store and search SuperSU. Update it. Then it should appear on the phone. Run it. It will ask if you would like to disable Knox. Answer yes. After that you should have root.
I can't get into recovery mode. When I try it runs chainfire again and nothing happens
HI! I have spent hours reseaching and trying different files and nothing has worked. I updated a rooted 4.1.1 to 4.3 via OTA and I did get rid of the root but Super Su is still present with no root access. I tried uninstalling it via super su app but it tells me uninstall failed. I tried via the play store but it only gives me the option to update. The whole reason for doing this was because I wanted to start using the ISIS payment system but it keeps telling me my phone is rooted and ISIS won't work. I know is not rooted because Super SU doesn't have root access and I tried the root access apk and it has told me I don't have root access. I'm looking to install a tar file via odin which should get rid of any traces of Super Su or root which is preventing me to use ISIS. I never had issues getting rid of root before but this time I don't know if its because I updated via OTA but even then it should have gotten rid of Super Su and it did not. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
If you're using an i747m from a Canadian carrier, you could try flashing a stock 4.3 ROM.
hi;
I have a roger GS3(SGH-I747M) and recently I have updated to stock 4.4.2; then I flash cf-root throuth odin; trying to get root access; however, after I boot into the phone, I always gets a force close message on the phone and cannot get root access. Does anybody know what I can do to get root access on stock 4.4.2.

Towelroot seems quite easy. Once I do that, what's the best way to install latest TWRP or CWM on rooted 4.4.2? I had always heard GooManager, but now it's showing as not supported and unavailable.
No need to root. Just load a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM.
Flash recovery with odin.

Like someone mentioned earlier, try flashing a custom recovery (I like philz touch myself) via odin. Once you access Recovery, if your phone isn't rooted upon trying to reboot you'll see a message that says "root priviliges may be lost, root (or something like it) binary su). Choose yes and your phone will be rooted once it boots. Install SuperSU (or kush's Superuser if you'd like) and then you'll see your phone is rooted.
I used TowelRoot and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. However, 4.4.2 seems to run extremely slow on the I747 so you might consider a custom ROM. That is the route I am looking into.
